  1. Taking a risk with this one. D - Joseph Bassolino @.sniffuM
  2. Is this regardless of a contract signed just before the changes were made, or does It apply to all S63 prospects that signed during the S62 season? @Reives tagged you you’re the new banker.
  3. RIGA, LATVIA -- Rylan Peace landed in Riga a few days ago to sign his rookie contract with the Reign, talk to his new teammates and introduce himself to the city. Fans of the hockey club, were they lucky enough to meet the prospect in Latvia's capital city, received signatures from the second round pick (twelfth overall) in Baltic Beach Hotel and Spa's main lobby shortly before he packed up to return to Canada; the near beach front hotel was selected by Peace to relax a few days to himself. Rylan Peace joins Reign alongside former Halifax players Shawn Glade (also Halifax's GM), Ryuu Crimson, Dylan Nguyen, prospect Anthony Dabarno and finally prospect Nathan MacKinnon. "I thought it would be a little awkward, but I played with Shawn (Glade), Dylan (Nguyen) and Ryuu (Crimson) in Halifax. It certainly made it less awkward and more welcoming," Peace said. "I could have been the only player from Halifax on the roster, and even though I have confidence I would have been just fine, it makes a difference." Rylan Peace was selected by the Latvia club in the second round from Halifax, where he will leave the VHLM club to join Saskatoon after being selected in - once again - the second round of the most recent dispersal draft. Fun fact, Peace was stolen from the Titans, who planned on taking him 13th overall. “Yeah, I'll admit I was absolutely certain I’d be a Titan when the draft was done, but it turned out I was heading to Riga instead when I checked the draft board later that evening.” Peace stated during a phone interview. “I even bought a ticket to Helsinki and everything anticipating them to choose me in the draft, but needless to say I was very surprised I was selected ahead of where I knew I was going to be selected.” Rylan Peace, who was projected to slip through to the third (or maybe even fourth) round of the entry draft, had bought a two-way ticket to Helsinki to meet with GM Quik of the Titans; however, by the end of the day, he was refunding that ticket and heading to Riga to speak to his new GM instead. Within twenty four hours of being selected, Rylan Peace had signed his rookie contract and donned his Riga Reign jersey, although he was ultimately sent back down to the minors as the club signed free agents to fill the roster in hopes of a competitive season. “Obviously I’m thrilled to be a member of the Reign,” Peace said. “I’m going to do everything I can to be a core piece of their future.” Peace was sent back to the Saskatoon Wild of the VHLM to enhance his development further in order to be that core piece by the time Riga truly needs him; he joins the Wild as their ‘best’ forward, in regards to TPE. The youngster joined S62 during week five, and by the end of the season he had shown rapid development, yet surprisingly dropped into the second round of the VHLM dispersal draft. His final position in the entry draft supports his accelerated improvement, but what if Peace had an entire season to develop his skills... would he have landed in the VHL entry draft’s first round alongside similarly developing players like Tzuyu or Crosby? If Peace earned 150 TPE before the draft, would it be so far fetched to predict he’ll be between the 250 - 300 TPE mark by the end of S63? Only time will tell, but I’d say it’s a pretty fair bet - in fact we asked Peace if he thought he could make it. “When it comes to TPE - I suppose the stat everyone uses to track improvement and ability - my goal was to reach 150 before the draft. I accomplished that, so I’m going to push myself to be around 300 be the time the VHLM season ends.” Peace stated. That’s good news for Riga, right? Every GM - we assume - wants to hear that the players they draft will push themselves to improve their abilities. When it comes to Peace, he’s certainly put in a decent amount of individual work to improve his ratings. “Don’t get me wrong, it’s a team sport.” Peace stated. “When it comes to individual improvement, however, a teammate can’t make you fundamentally better. They can show you tricks and give you the tools to improve yourself, but you have to have the motivation and dedication to comprehend what you’re being taught and apply it the best way for yourself.”

  5. 1. I think the Yukon Rush really improved, but uh... so did the Wild, eh? 2. Axelsson, now that Trifecta appears to be back. 3. I'm hoping the Wild will be the best team! 4. 'Hog' seems pretty active with his club, so I'm happy to be a member of Riga... not to mention they just signed some really awesome free agents recently. 5. Can't remember how I found out initially, but I returned when I received an email from the league. 6. Nothing really, I'd rather experience while it's being explained to me. Hands on learning.
  6. Fun fact, @hedgehog337 stole my player from @Quik a pick before I was going to be a Titan. Did I spark a rivalry? Please be a rivalry. :D
  7. Edwin Preencarnacion @.sniffuM
  8. F - Jasper Canmore @diamond_ace is up.
  9. Can I pick right now, or do I have to wait for SniffuM?
  10. Worst Team: Mercs Bronze Medal: World Silver Medal: USA Gold Medal: CAN
  11. I’ll take the “I suck” TPE category, maybe. Lol
  12. @McWolf I did two this time since the last ones to make up for the simplicity of them.
  13. 1. I've been really enjoying it! Friendly community, awesome GMs and, although it doesn't seem like it lately, I've heard that the sims are rather quick and this period is abnormal in comparison with other seasons. 2. I was selected by the Wild in the S63 Dispersal draft, so I'm excited to be a member of the Wild, although I will always crave that championship with the 21sts we fell just short of! 3. I want to be a core asset for any club that drafts me. Basically, I just want to be reliable and consistent while performing the best I can. 4. I would compare my VHL player most with someone like Sean Monahan. A good goal scorer, decent defensive abilities, but not a very flashy or 'wow' type of players. Just a solid, if boring, but reliable forward. 5. Peace is my last name, Rylan was just something I felt was semi-unique so I chose it. 6. I've been focusing on scoring mostly, with an injection into other areas.
  14. SASKATOON, SASK. -- Going in the first round of a draft - even the VHLM dispersal draft - is always an experience young players seek, but sometimes it just isn’t meant to be; the potential of a later round pick becoming a steal is entirely determined by hard working individuals who shown intermittent signs of high level of skills, and through hard work and development, those picks become core pieces of any roster moving forward. Rylan Peace was selected in the second round by the Saskatoon Wild, going eighth overall in the S63 Dispersal Draft, and now he has a chance to prove he can be a steal for the Saskatoon Wild as a early second round draft pick - and is expected to go into the third round or later, should he slide, in the VHL draft too. "I'm determined to play my best where ever I go and when ever I'm selected, be it the VHLM or VHL. I'm a hockey player, I just want to play the game and not worry too much about the political landscape behind it right now." Peace said. “I’m going to miss the guys in Halifax. It was an awesome place to play, even if we struggled as a team in the finals to come up with any victory against the Lynx. Anyone thinking of playing on Glade's team should, you'll enjoy your time in Halifax; just buy a truck and you'll be set for the winters there too.” Peace said on playing for Halifax, which his time with has come to an end after the dispersal draft. “I’m certain some players, like Glade and Moltke, are going to have fantastic careers in the VHL. They’re talented guys, and they’re going to be core elements for their teams. I know that Moltke will be playing for the Calgary Wranglers next season, so that’s exciting, hopefully that can help Calgary go for a repeat performance!” Peace added. Peace collected eleven points as a member of the Halifax 21st - five goals and six assists - with one assist, unfortunately for Peace, scored during a rather disappointing individual playoff performance.
  15. All depends on where I land in the VHL entry draft I suppose, but it’s a high probability I’ll play a second season in the VHLM if the team that ends up drafting me sends me back down. After that, it depends on which VHLM team drafts me. Lol
  16. CALGARY, ALBERTA -- The Wranglers lead their series 3-1, and for the first time in over a decade a Calgary ice hockey club has come close to an ice hockey championship; in fact, it was 1989 when the NHL’s Calgary Flames won the Stanley Cup, but it was 2004 that really ignited the ‘C of Red’ in their controversial Stanley Cup run lead by Jarome Iginla - a run that ended in a seven game defeat at the hands of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Now? The Wranglers have given Calgary another reason to cheer as they press forward in their series against the Meute, and with the NHL’s Calgary Flames amping up to compete in the NHL, the future does indeed look bright for the Alberta based teams. The Wranglers, who lead their series three games to one, are prepared and ready to play game five in Calgary and - we assume - hoping to take the series and really make the Meute a silent Quebec City hockey club. But, beyond the Wranglers lead, the series has been rather close. In game one, the Meute enjoyed a 1-0 lead over the Wranglers at the end of the first frame and a 13-6 shot advantage. The Wranglers were able to strike back when Keaton Louth scored his fourth goal of the postseason to tie the game up at one, which would be the score at the end of regulation - in fact it was the score at the end of eighty minutes of hockey, both the Meute and Wranglers goaltenders playing a solid game; the shots were 38-20 in favor of the Meute at the end of sixty, and 47-31 at the end of eighty minutes of hockey. The Wranglers won the game 2-1 in the second overtime on the powerplay at the 6:22 mark when Peter Quill deposited the puck into the net to give Calgary a 1-0 series lead. In game two the Wranglers dominated the first twenty, leading the game 3-0 at the end of the first period. Keaton Louth (5), Mats Johnsson (3) and Oyorra Arroyo (5) each scored for the Wranglers; however, Calgary’s dominance ended as the Meute took over in the second period. The Meute outshot Calgary 16-11 and scored on the powerplay when Rauno Palo potted his first goal of the S62 postseason. During the third period, Quebec City drew within one on the powerplay as Casey Jones recorded a goal, but it was as close as they got; Calgary took a 2-0 series lead on home ice as the series went back to Quebec City. Quebec - finding themselves trailing the finals series two games to none - needed a victory to swing the momentum, and they achieved that goal by defeating the Wranglers 3-0 on home ice. In the first period both clubs played a solid game, shots were even but the Meute broke a tie game at 13:16 when Vesto Slipher scored. During the second frame, however, a recurring pattern returned: The Meute swung the momentum to their favor and outshot the Wranglers 16-7, scoring in the second period on the powerplay when Casey Jones recorded another PP marker against the Wranglers. And in the third frame, at the 16:35 mark, the Meute extended the lead to 3-0 courtesy of Veran Dragomir. Fortunately for the Alberta-based club, the Wranglers were able to string up a 2-0 victory over the Meute, and boy did the crowd live up to the name. The Wranglers, who previously were outshot by an uncomfortable margin, limited the Meute to just two shots in the first and three shots in the third. Ironically, the Meute’s strongest frame - the second period - was Calgary’s two conversions by Keaton Louth and Jasper Canmore. The series heads back to Calgary with the Wranglers leading 3-1.
  17. 1. The series ended before I could answer this question, however... being a member of Halifax I would have chosen them. 2. It has to be, without a doubt in my mind, Lando Baxter. He's a primary reason why I'm golfing right now. 3. I hope so! I'm not confident, but I would like to crack the bottom six if I can. 4. My GM has been Shawn Glade. He's been an awesome GM to work with, and a great player to have as a team mate! 5. We're all pretty social with one another, so it's been a pleasant experience, especially considering I joined so late in the season. 6. We did amazing, even in the postseason, although I wish we had done better in the finals.
  18. OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- The Halifax hockey club looked onward in defeat as the metaphorical ‘broom’ made its way from the utilities closet and onto the ice surface to sweep away the stunned team. Halifax, like their contemporary club in the NHL (in terms of age and story, ironically), made it all the way to the glory series but couldn’t capture it: The championship was within reach, yet remained outside their touch. Visible, but yet outside their vision . Ottawa Lynx decidedly swept the Halifax 21st hockey club in a best of seven series to claim the trophy by defeating the young team 4 games to 0. In game one, the Lynx easily defeated the unprepared Halifax team 4-1. Although it was tied up 1-1 after one, courtesy of Jesse Wilson (OTT) and Kronos Bailey (HFX), Ottawa quickly jumped to a 2-1 lead just 47 seconds into the second period when Robert Renner’s shot hit twine. Just over six minutes later, Ottawa extended the lead to 3-1 when Lando Baxter scored; unfortunately, Halifax never recovered even though they kept the pressure up, outshooting Ottawa throughout the first contest. Ottawa scored their fourth goal at the 18:18 mark of the third period as Roctrion King potted his third goal of the postseason. In game two, the Lynx shutdown and shutout Halifax’s offense with with a 3-0 victory on hostile ice, with all three goals being scored in the opening twenty minutes of play. Lando Baxter scored twice, his third and forth goals in the postseason, and Jesse Wilson recorded another goal to put the Lynx up 2-0 in the series. Yet, once again, the Halifax hockey club outshot the club from Canada’s capital but never converted on their scoring chances. In game three, Halifax looked as if they had finally adjusted to the postseason speed, playing better hockey than in games one and two. At the end of the first period, Halifax enjoyed a 1-0 lead thanks to Tzuyu’s third of the postseason. With just five minutes to go, and Halifax enjoying a 2-0 lead (Flipachyev’s fifth of the post-season at 0:57 on the PP), Ottawa struck back when Lando Baxter scored his third goal against Halifax in as many games. Less than two minutes later the game was tied 2-2, King potting a goal to tie the game up… Ottawa ended up dominating the third period but the game was kept at 2-2 thanks to steller goaltending from Mertz - unfortunately, just 1:05 into the first OT, Chace Trepanier found twine in a 3-2 Lynx victory. In game four, Halifax dominated the first peroid, taking a commanding 3-0 lead when the first twenty minutes expired; Nathan MacKinnon, Karl von Moltke and Shawn Glade each scored for Halifax. The club genuinely believed they could win the game and start fighting back in the series, which they trailed 3-0. In the second period, however, the momentum swung in favor of Ottawa. Vaydar Odinsson, Ryan Kastelic and Roctrion King each scored in the second peroid for the Lynx to tie the game up at 3 heading into the final frame… unfortunately for the Halifax 21st, it was Lando Baxter who sunk the dagger into Halifax’s cup hopes at 0:50 on the PP. It was a good effort, just not good enough. Halifax enjoyed a shots on goal advantage through games one, two and four but couldn’t capitalize on the scoring chances. Good series, Ottawa, good series.
  19. OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- Rylan Peace could be seen sitting at his stall, disbelief stretched across his stressed face, and his depressing disappointment in himself posted onto social media. We took to Twitter to see what the right winger had to say, who finished the postseason with no goals and a single assists, on top of a worrisome -3 plus/minus: ‘I want to apologize to the city of Halifax, I wish I could have done more, but clearly I wasn’t good enough.’ tweets the recently signed Halifax player, a player who went from the third line to playing on the top line with Halifax’s greatest offensive weapons. “Yeah,” Peace begun in a phone conversation. “When the game ended I felt like we were robbed, I felt like I didn’t do enough for my teammates and - I dunno - I just wish I could have done more on the ice. Flippie did well, he should have been on the top line instead of me, but I appreciate the opportunity to play with KVM and MacKinnon. I appreciate the chance to play with all my team mates.” Peace said. The young hockey player will get over the disappointment. We asked if he was hungry for another now that he’s had a taste of the VHLM’s best meal. “Absolutely,” Peace stated. “With the draft coming up my goal is to make an opening day roster, that’d be really nice, but if I get sent back down to the minors there’s no harm done - if that happens I’m absolutely hungry for another shot at it.”

  22. 1) We posted the VHLM Achievement Tracker for this season up for S63 draftees or players who've already been drafted to claim up to 20 TPE: a) (If you're eligible to claim) How much TPE are you set to earn this season and are you happy with your total? I'll get the minimum of 10, so I'm happy with that considering I joined very late into the season. 2) The playoffs are on the verge of starting today with the Wild-Card round which sees the Saskatoon Wild face the Oslo Storm in a 3-game series, with the winner facing the Halifax 21st in the semi-finals. Do you like the idea of the wild-card game or would you prefer to see playoffs contested solely between the top 4 teams? I'd prefer just the top four, but that's just me. 3) There's a VHLM GM job opening available for the Oslo Storm, how do you feel you would do in such a role? Since this position has been filled, I felt like I would do okay but questioned my ability since I'm fairly new to VHL. 4) If the role didn't go to you, which member would you like to see take over the Oslo Storm? It's actually been filled, and I hope they do a great job! 5) The Aces and the Lynx are set to do battle in a tightly contested semi-final series, who do you think will wind up winners of the series? I'm going to say the Lynx will defeat the Aces in seven games. 6) The VHLM Magazine is currently three issues strong, what are your thoughts on the Magazine? I like it. Well thought out and organised, a lot of talented people contributing to the VHLM Magazine.
  23. I'll try it out. Can't promise I'd get far, but I'd certainly try!
  24. Escape From Tarkov. No horror game delivers adrenaline rushes like that game does.
