    1. We're going for the cup. I don't care what the regular season numbers are! Just make the post-season and LET'S GO!

    2. I wouldn't say I was shocked, but I was happy to see DC finally win it. They deserve it.

    3. LA's team has always looked kind of plain to me. Just looks too much like the NHL's LA Kings. Relocate!

    4. Prague Phantoms. LET'S GO!

    6. Ice hockey. Easy answer I guess. Lmao

Solid negotiations @Acydburn Please take care of my homies!

@DollarAndADream Thank you for your time in Calgary. It was exciting having a player of your caliber dominate with us over the last few seasons. I hope to see future DaaD players in Calgary.

@jRuutu Jokinen is a beast and I am grateful for your time with us in Calgary. Goodluck in your final season and hopefully we will see you in the future.

@AnthiqueWelcome to Calgary. You’re going to love it there.

Yep. We've talked in DM, but I might as well say it here too. Wouldn't trade my time with the Wranglers for anything else. Love the organization and I've loved the Calgary Wranglers since I joined this league with Travis Boychuk back in S37. The first VHL team I ever played for.

    Good luck to the Wranglers!

  3. With the VHL season well underway, teams have started to establish themselves where they want to be in the standings. The Calgary Wranglers are one of those teams that has shown to be a threat in the league, currently at 3rd overall in the North American Conference. They have 50 points, which is only 1 point behind 1st in their conference, and 2 points behind 1st in the league. They've won 3 in a row and are firing on all cylinders lately.

    LondonBar_uu5ZE7B.pngLondon United vs. Calgary WranglersCGY_bar_mFmKLZ5.png

This was a game where Calgary was the favourite, but London has a respectable 18-14-7 record and are capable of more. This game was sure to be a close one. In the 1st Period, the game got off to a quick start where London's Molly the Cat scored her 18th of the season at 3:14 and brought it to 1-0 United. Unfortunately for Molly, she also took a penalty after that goal and sent Calgary to the powerplay, where Landon Wolanin scored his 14th of the season and tied this one at 1-1. The Calgary Wranglers were dominating the period, and London's Ed Nu was saving everything he could, but at 18:26 Landon Wolanin scored another goal to give Calgary the 2-1 lead. Matt Avens took a penalty late in the period after that, and Calgary's Daniel Janser made sure to capitalize on that powerplay, and the 1st Period ended 3-1 Wranglers. In the 2nd Period, London was looking to bounce back, but Saku Kotkakoivu scored his 20th, bringing the game to 4-1. Later in the 2nd, Matt Avens paid back on his late penalty and scored to bring this game to 4-2. The score would stay that way until the end of the period. In the 3rd Period, London fought back as hard as they could, where shots were actually pretty even at 14-13 in the period. However, Ben Dahl stopped them all that period, and Calgary's Daniel Janser was the only player to score and add to the beating. This game ended 5-2 in favour of the Calgary Wranglers. Calgary outshot London 52-32. Ed Nu saved 47 of 52, which was good but not enough to save his London United team.

    CGY_bar_mFmKLZ5.pngCalgary Wranglers vs. Chicago PhoenixChicagoBar_8LY8jf9.png

Despite Chicago's 17-16-2 record, this game was all Calgary. In the 1st Period, Landon Wolanin scored his 16th goal of the season while on the powerplay. Calgary took that momentum and scored another goal just over a minute later, where Leandro Goncalves brought this game to 2-0. In the 2nd Period, the game went back and forth and it wasn't until the last few minutes where Daniel Janser scored his 27th of the season and brought this game to 3-0. The period ended that way, and this one headed to the 3rd. In the 3rd Period, both teams battled pretty evenly, but Chicago could not solve Ben Dahl. In the final minutes of the game, Phil Strasmore went to the box and the Chicago Phoenix had a chance to muster up something late on the powerplay. However, Leandro Goncalves had other plans as he scored a shorthanded goal with his 20th of the season. This game ended 4-0 Wranglers, and Ben Dahl had a 29 save shutout.

  4. 1. Wranglers are currently 23-11-4 on the season. What are your thoughts? Better or worse than you expected, or exactly right?

    2. Which Wrangler has surprised you the most this season?

    3. What VHL team has surprised you the most this season?

    4. How is your player doing in your eyes? Performing or underperforming?

    5. Did you expect Daniel Janser to take the league by storm this season and be currently 2nd in points?

    6. Not VHL related, how excited are you for the NHL season to start?

    2. NFL season up starting up again are you watching?

    3. What is a player in the VHLM or E you can’t wait to see in the big leagues

    4. What is your favorite VHLM team

    5. Who is your favorite VHL player besides yours?

    6. What VHL “era” do you think was the best and why?

    1. We've been decent. Could be better for sure. We'll turn it around.

    2. I've watched a little. Some Seahawks, some Broncos, some Chiefs and Buccs.

    3. Probably someone like MacTavish.

    4. Ottawa Lynx. It's the first ever team that I played for on VHLForum.com.

    5. Any of my teammates.

    6. I'll say the era that Toronto Legion won 3 in a row, because I was on that team. Lmao

    1. The VHL 15th birthday raffle winners should be announced by the time most of you answer this, so did you win anything?

    2.  Do you think the VHL could/should add a stamina stat and stop it from automatically being 99?

    3. What is a old VHL team/brand that you would like to see come back?

    4. Do you think the VHL should add more ways to earn TPE

    5. If your a gm would you rather draft a play that has a lot of TPE but didn’t perform well in the VHLE/M, or a player that performed really well in the minors but doesn’t earn much TPE?

    6. How did you spend your Labor Day, if it’s celebrated in your country?

    7. What is your process for picking predictions for the VHL each season?

    1. Nothing besides being a part of this great community.

    2. If teams have enough players, then yes. It will stop teams from using their top guy on every single line.

    3. Quebec City Meute was a fun team to be on, although it changed to Vancouver Wolves because of the name's history.

    4. Sure, why not. Always nice to have options.

    5. More TPE.

    6. I was camping!

    1. The playoffs are almost over, do you feel the VHL should adjust the playoff format, if so how?

    2.  What would you say the VHL could add that would enhance the sim hockey experience?

    3. Would you rather get a GM job on a team that’s really good that already is competitive and has a winning history, or a rebuilding team you need to rebuild?

    4. With fall falling upon us what do you look forward to in the new season?

    5. Do you know any other languages besides your main language?

    6. Tell us who your favorite NHL team is and why?

    1. Honestly, I don't care what the format is. If you win, you win. If you can't get past a team, then you don't deserve to win. Plus, this is a simulation. It's not like an extra round or something is going to affect your team. There's no stamina or injuries to hinder you. It's just on to the next one.

    2. Make my team win more championships.

    3. I'd rather rebuild a team as my own. Knowing you brought them all together and having them click just means more. If you're a new GM that inherited a team and won a championship, did you really earn that? Maybe, but I'd rather just build my own.

    4. Another run at the cup.

    5. I know a bit of French from Elementary/High School, and some pieces of Ukrainian from my grandmother. Nothing crazy, just little sentences and different foods, mostly. Greetings, etc.

    6. Vancouver Canucks. I live there. The New Jersey Devils are always my #2 team though. They're what originally got me into hockey when they were winning championships with Martin Brodeur, Patrik Elias, etc. Then around 2000 I started following my home town team, the Canucks, at the start of that Naslund/Morrison/Bertuzzi era.

    1. Well the season is over, but what do you look forward too for next season?

    2.  How much do you think salary cap effects VHL teams?

    3. Do you believe being a really good GM in the VHLE would transfer to being a GM in the VHL?

    4. If you’re hiring a GM for a VHL team would your rather choose someone who has experience AGMing a VHL team, or some who was a GM for the VHLM?

    5. What is a funky fact about you that you wouldn’t mind sharing with the team?

    6. How much do you believe size matters, in hockey?

    1. Another run at the cup! I think we just hit a snag this season. We deserved better.

    2. It definitely affects some teams. It stops people from all banding together to join one team, that's for sure.

    3. Yes. VHLE is a stepping stone. Obviously VHL is a whole other ball game, but starting out in a lower tier will always help, especially getting a swing of sending in lines, getting offers, etc.

    4. Honestly I'd interview both parties and take the interview process seriously. Both have an equal chance.

    5. I used to be so good at EA NHL that I'd get invited to the play tests regularly. Used to be a top ranked player years ago. I used to play a ton in the NHL10-14 days. I still play a lot, but stick to EASHL when I do play.

    6. It used to matter a lot, but it doesn't matter as much these days. With how often boarding, blind sided hits, instigating, etc are called, it's less of a factor. A really good skating ability like Johnny Gaudreau, Cale Makar, or Quinn Hughes takes you really far. Even a small guy like Elias Pettersson has a ton of success.

Alright hear me out, I'm a huge fan of trashy TV but it doesn't get any dumber and trashier than the Bachelorette. Actually it does, Love Island, Too Hot to Handle, Love is Blind and the Ultimatum are all 15 times worse but this is a good intro to terrible television. In this latest season they have two bachelorettes, which I think was the dumbest thing ever because they have no idea how anything works. Anyways, all the dudes on the show keep flip flopping between girls and I'm like... What do they expect? You can't just expect to find an Astro in a sea of guppies. Also Rachel is probably the most annoying person on this show. She complains she can't make connections but has cancelled every other group activity. WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS. Also Gabby's voice wants me to listen to chalkboard scratches on my Airpods. Anyways, thanks for reading this week's Random Thoughts Blog with Astro Singh. Have a great day and stay trashy my friends.

I'm approving this, but moving forward try to make it hockey/league related. For a VHL.com, it's definitely not hard. :P

  10. After what was an exciting finish in a wild card round for the Calgary Wranglers against the Toronto Legion, they had high hopes in the Conference Semi-Finals. Calgary swept the Toronto Legion 3-0 in a series where they won the games 3-2, 5-4OT, and 3-1.

Next up was a match-up against the strong DC Dragons, a force to be reckoned with in the VHL. This was a series that the Calgary Wranglers went into with momentum, but ultimately got shut down.

"I really think we had what it takes against the DC Dragons. Sure we didn't win a game, but we put up a fight in every single game. They were all close. I think if we played them again they would all be close again, and any team could come out on top." - Saku Kotkakoivu

    -------------------------

The Calgary Flames are currently in their darkest timeline

    -------------------------

The DC Dragons swept the series against the Calgary Wranglers, but Calgary put up a sure fight. Two of those games went to overtime, and the other ones were a tight defensive battle and a high scoring one. The DC Dragons won 4-3OT, 6-4, 3-1, and 4-3OT. In that final game, Calgary didn't go down without a fight, where they outshot DC 69-41.

I mean, let's just look at that Game 4 specifically. DC won 4-3 in OT, but Calgary had 69-41 shots. In fact, it gets a bit ridiculous. In the 3rd period alone, Calgary outshot DC 34-12. I repeat, Calgary had 34 SHOTS IN THE 3RD PERIOD! They only scored 1 goal in that frame, while DC Dragons goalie Bubbles Utonium saved a whopping 66 out of 69 shots in the game. It was the Utonium Show, possibly taking motivation while watching video footage of ex DC Dragons legend Stone Wolski.

The DC Dragons swept the series 4-0, but that sure wasn't the story.

"We really gave it our all against DC. We had the momentum coming into the series after a big victory against the Toronto Legion, and with Ben Dahl back there in net anything can happen. Next season we will come back even stronger." - Saku Kotkakoivu
