A few guys have cleared 400 in the last few seasons, including Deathwalker in S82. It's actually probably one of the likeliest to fall 👀

After reroll, I doubt it. But we'll see.

It's not even something I aimed to achieve with that player. It just kind of happened. So I won't be mad at all if someone beats it. Haha

They can win 10 in a row, they'll never be the first and they'll carry that asterisk through them all :D

and it seems like nobody is ever going to beat Parechkin's hit record from that era either. The Legion 3peat is always going to be more impressive.

    Week ending 2/20

    1. It’s playoff time, at the time of writing this we are playing LA, are you excited?

    2. Besides Calgary what is a team you see winning it all?

    3. What’s your VHL “hot take” or unpopular opinion?

    4. Do you speak any language besides English?

    5. Do you play hockey in real life or any other’s sports irl?

    6. Me and Ricer are in a boxing match against each other, who do you have winning?

    1. I will say that I was excited. My excitement has gone down since then. We lost.

    2. The meta teams. Lmao

    3. VHL should just let me have 12 TPE per week because I don't want to put effort in.

    4. I can slightly speak Ukrainian from when my grandma was alive, and a little bit of French I took in high school.

    5. I used to be in beer leagues every year in hockey but I haven't played this year.

    6. Ricer because if I say otherwise he'll probably trade me.

Oh wow, as this is for me, then I will also use this opportunity to do my weekly review haha.

First of all I would like to say that I am very honoured that you made a graphic for me, something I did not even request, because I've always wanted to be that player that people chose for their graphics you know and I guess this season my name was seen enough for someone like yourself to chose me as your player to do the sig for. Thank you!

Now to the review! I very much love what I see. Not my players render, as for my player I use Teodors Blugers, but hey, you didn't know. The graphic is not too busy, but still creates a very nice overall composition and I am happy with how it looks. The players render looks very crisp even besides the fact that his uniform is blurred out, but that gives also a nice touch to the design. Not mad about the "Matt" text and actually love it, but the Avens part is not what I would like to see. It is not that much about the look, but more about hte quality of the text as for some reason it gives quite pixelated areas down the sides of the letters like "V" and "A" making it look bad. Not sure what causes it, but if the Avens text would be as crisp as the render or as nice as Matt, then the signature would be a total 9. Thank you again!

    Rating: 8/10

Yeah, I just picked your player because he did so well this season! Then I picked Nathan Walker as the render because he's UK and your player is UK. :P

    2. VHL wordle has been very popular lately, have you tried it? What are your thoughts on it!

    3. If you could add one attribute to STHS that doesn’t currently exist what would it be and why.

    4. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be and why?

    5. Calgary leads the league in OTL with 12, how does this make you feel?

    6. What does your player eat before a game?

    1. Anything to get rid of that meta. I like it.

    2. Haven't tried it. I play a lot of Wordle on my phone though.

    3. Possibly separate Slap Shot and Wrist Shot to different attributes.

    4. Donairs. I eat them all week anyways.

    5. I mean, I guess we're getting a point at least. It means we didn't lose in regulation.

    6. Chicken parms.

It's great to see the commishes and the BOD making a big push to eliminate something that has been a huge discussion point for a lot of people. I've been virtually neutral on the discussion, not really adding much insight for either side of the argument to keep or eliminate the meta, but this looks like a very unique and cool way to handle it.

Kudos to everyone involved in the decision :)

I was also involved. I clicked that I liked some of the comments in those threads.

Druss Deathwalker continues to establish himself as one of the most physically imposing figures the league has ever seen. Recently, he became only the 20th player in history to accumulate 1000 PIM and 2000 hits, a feat last reached by Jim Bob @jRuutu in S78. Deathwalker also just reached 300 hits for the sixth consecutive season meaning he has crashed his way to at least 300 hits every season of his career including his season in the VHLM. With more than two season left to play, he is on pace to challenge Zach Parechkin's @DollarAndADream  career record of 2769 hits. But Druss is not just about the carnage. He also just scored his 20th goal of the campaign giving him five straight seasons of 20 or more goals. He's also seen more time on the penalty kill and has responded with a career high 45 shot blocks. Deathwalker continues to help Malmo on both ends of the ice as the Nighthawks look to strengthen their playoff position down the stretch.

You have to slow down. That's been my record for a long time!!

It's always interesting to see players get close, and you're definitely challenging it!!

    1.  With the season almost halfway through what can you take away from what’s happened so far?

    2. The meta is one of the hottest debates going on in the VHL at the moment, what are your thoughts on it?

    3. Are you hyped for the return of the All star game?

    4. What is your favorite soft drink and why?

    5. If you could take the team to a concert of a musical artist of your choice who would it be and why?

    6. If you had to live with a teammate for the rest of your life who would you choose and why?

    1. No matter the ups and downs, like Tina said we can go all the way. I fully believe in this team. We can beat the best.

    2. It's been around for awhile. If it can be taken out of the sim somehow, then I'm all for it.

    3. Always nice to get recognition.

    4. Iced tea. Never been a huge pop guy.

    5. Paramore, because I just love Paramore.

    6. Phil. Been around this league for awhile and I think we'd get along no problemo.

  10. Over the course of the season so far, the Calgary Wranglers have not been blowing anyone away, but they have definitely been a great team. With a 22-11-7 record, they have 51 points and hold down the 3rd spot in the North American Conference. Both VHL conferences are very competitive this season, and this shows in North America where Calgary is in 3rd, but only 6 points out of 5th. The Vancouver Wolves have separated themselves at the top with 66 points.

One player on the Wranglers is wishing he could put a little bit more on the table, and that's centerman Saku Kotkakoivu. Saku has 10 goals and 27 assists, totaling 37 points in 40 games this season. He also adds onto that with 95 hits, showing a physical side to his game this season. 37 points isn't horrible by any means, but it's not anywhere close to where Saku wants to be at this point in this sophomore season.

"I think that I can bring a lot more to the table. The most important thing for me is the wins and not the individual success, but I definitely can be doing a lot more. 37 in 40 just isn't cutting it. That's not even a point per game. Other players in my draft class and players at my age are putting up far better numbers, and I want to get to that point." - Saku Kotkakoivu

    1. Are you currently happy with your players stats so far this season? Why or why not?

    2. What are your thoughts on the return of trivia? Do you like the new format?

    3. The AGM spot is opening up, will you be applying? If not, who would you like to see join the team as AGM?

    4. Do you prefer the team bus or the team plane for road games in North America?

    5. Who has impressed you the most on the Wranglers so far?

    6. How much influence does a persons name have over the course of their life?

    1. Nah. I never expected to be a superstar right away or anything, but seeing my stats and then some young players like myself, I wish I'd be a little more productive.

    2. I like it. There's no sharing so that sucks, but you do automatically get the points right away so that's cool.

    3. Nope. I left my GM days in the dust tens of seasons ago. Always willing to help of course, but I don't want any official roles.

    4. The bus! I've always loved the bus sleeping over sleeping on a plane.

    5. Reylynn!

    6. You are defined by your actions, not a name!

  12. The VHL season is currently underway in full swing, with all teams playing 26 games. Teams have established themselves so far as top dogs and bottom feeders, with plenty of wiggle room to change that. The Calgary Wranglers are 15-7-4, and holding down the 3rd spot in the North American Conference. Their 34 points are respectable, but in no way are they safe in holding down that 3rd spot forever. It's going to take some consistency heading forward, with the Seattle Bears surging on a 5 game win streak and the Toronto Legion on their tail as well.

Let's take a look at their last couple of games.

    CGY_bar_mFmKLZ5.pngCalgary Wranglers vs. Prague PhantomsPhantoms_Bar.png 6-4 W

This matchup against Prague is between a couple of teams with similar records, but in different conferences. The Phantoms are 15-9-2, only 2 points behind Calgary. In the 1st Period, Calgary's Reylynn Reinhart got this game off to a quick start with her 22nd goal of the season. It wasn't until 10:37 that Prague's Darth Kaprizov tied the game up with his milestone 20th of the season. This game stayed tied until the final minute of the period, where Prague's JaredN Jr took a holding penalty. Calgary would capitalize quickly, with Frank Funk Jr scoring on the powerplay with his 9th goal of the season. The period would end 2-1 CGY. In the 2nd Period, the game exploded. Prague's Luc Tessier tied the game up just 22 seconds into the period. Halfway through the period, Erlantz Jokinen took a penalty and the Prague Phantoms made him pay at the end of the powerplay. Right before Calgary could kill off the penalty, Darth Kaprizov scored to make the game 3-2. Then with under 5 minutes left in the period, Saku Kotkakoivu scored his 5th of the season to tie this one at 3-3. Under a minute later, Gustislav Nasherov scored his 15th of the season, giving the Wranglers a 4-3 lead. Only seconds later, JaredN Jr took a hooking penalty, and sent Calgary to the PP at a very inopportune time for Prague. Reylynn Reinhart scored her 23rd of the season while on the PP, and Calgary took a 5-3 lead into the 3rd. In the 3rd Period, Prague tied their best to fight back. Baby Bob scored his 16th at 6:14, giving the Phantoms some hope just down 1 goal with over a period left to go. This is where the Calgary Wranglers delivered a dagger, when Reylynn Reinhart scored her hat trick goal just 15 seconds later and put the Wranglers up 6-4. Sirkants Klamasteris held the door shut the rest of the way, while saving 60 of 64. You would think that the 6-4 offensive outburst of Calgary was the story of the game, but Klamasteris took that accolade. Prague outshot Calgary 64-39 in a losing effort.

    CGY_bar_mFmKLZ5.pngCalgary Wranglers vs. Malmo NighthawksMalmo_Bar.png 4-3 SOW

This game was another competitive battle against similar teams. In the 1st Period, Gustislav Nasherov got this game started with his 16th goal of the season, giving Calgary the 1-0 lead. Chances would go both ways but it wasn't until the last 5 minutes of the period where the action would come. Malmo's Addison McLaren would score her 7th of the season, then in the final minute, Taylor Mourning scored to give Malmo the 2-1 lead heading into the 2nd. In the 2nd Period, Malmo would continue their scoring trend with Steve Eso getting his 5th of the season for a 3-1 Malmo lead. Calgary did not quit, however. Saku Kotkakoivu scored his 6th of the season at 8:05, bringing his team within 1. At the end of the period, Malmo's Druss Deathwalker took a double minor and Calgary capitalized quickly, when Tom Eagles scored a PP and tied this one 3-3 heading into the 3rd Period. In the 3rd Period, Malmo would outshoot Calgary 10-7, but it was a goaltending showdown and this game went all the way until the shootout. Nathan Perry's lone goal in the shootout was enough for Calgary to take this one 4-3.

// TO CLAIM FOR WEEK ENDING 02/13//

    1. As of this post, Nasherov is 10th overall in the league with points, do you think he can finish in the top 10 at the end of the season?

    2. Reylynn Reinhart is 4th in goals in the league with an impressive 12. Can she claim the top spot at the end?

    3. Calgary is off to a 6-4-2 start, do you think we should be doing better or do you think were where we should be at this point of the season?

    4. If you could trade for any current VHL player to help the team win the cup, who would you trade for and what would the trade package look like?

    5. What are your top 3 favorite books and why?

    6. If you were ever elected President/Prime Minister of your county, what would be the first thing you would do?

    1. Definitely. He has the ability and drive to do it. Also the supporting cast to help him!

    2. I believe anything is possible.

    3. We could be better, for sure. We're capable of it.

    4. Trade for Dan Dan, because he leads the league, but only give up draft picks. :P

    5. The Outsiders, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Game of Thrones. I don`t know.

    6. Invite my family to the house for dinner.

  14. The Calgary Wranglers are 6-4-2, 12 games into the season, which is more or less .500 hockey. For a team on paper like theirs, they will surely get better and start stringing some wins together. They have 46 goals for and 40 goals against.

One player that wants to do better is centre Saku Kotkakoivu. He currently has 9 points in 12 games, with 2 of those being goals. The only stat he currently is on the leaderboard for right now is penalty minutes. He is 2nd in the VHL with 38 PIMs, and that's already more than his entire rookie season. Included in those penalty minutes however, is a game misconduct a couple games ago against the Seattle Bears, where he got ejected for head butting.

"All you saw was the headbutt, so you don't know the full story. I'm not going to say what happened out there on the ice, but words were said, and dirty plays happened. I let my anger out and got sent out of the game. Seattle obviously got the upper hand there, and then they won the game with those powerplay goals and me out of the lineup. I will be better in the future. We won the very next game against Seattle, so we got our payback for sure, but we need to stay consistent and keep winning." - Saku Kotkakoivu

  15. The season is underway and teams are starting to establish themselves with their identities and show their worth. The Vancouver Wolves are of course on top, while the Toronto Legion, Riga Reign, and Malmo Nighthawks are also top teams. The Calgary Wranglers have started the season 6-4-2, and are primed to do better than that.

Here's their last couple of games against the Seattle Bears.

    Seattle_Bar.pngSeattle Bears vs. Calgary WranglersCGY_bar_mFmKLZ5.png

This game started off with Calgary's Daniel Janser scoring his 4th of the season, giving the Wranglers a 1-0 lead only a minute into the game. It wasn't long before Seattle tied it up, with Sirdsvaldis Miglaskems getting that game tying marker. At the end of the 1st Period, Wranglers sophomore centre Saku Kotkakoivu got a game misconduct for head butting. Not sure what he was doing there, but this game went into the 2nd Period with Seattle having a huge powerplay opportunity. Early in the 2nd Period, the Bears capitalized on that major penalty and made Calgary pay. Hulk Hogan 2 scored at 2:03, then Taro Tsujimoto scored at 4:09, both PP goals, and the Bears had a 3-1 lead. Seattle's Sigard Petrenko then took that momentum and brought the game to a 4-1 score. In the back half of the period, Gustislav Nasherov scored and brought this game within 2 goals, 4-2, to start the 3rd. In the 3rd Period, Reylynn Reinhart scored his 12th of the season just 36 seconds in, bringing Calgary within a goal. Unfortunately, the Wranglers couldn't take that momentum, and Justin Lose scored 2 quick goals at 2:23 and 5:03 to give Seattle a 6-3 lead, and that's how the game ended. Bears goaltender Em Em Flex saved 42 of 45 shots.

    CGY_bar_mFmKLZ5.pngCalgary Wranglers vs. Seattle BearsSeattle_Bar.png

This immediate rematch between these 2 teams told a different story. Early in the game, Calgary's Tom Eagles took a penalty and sent Seattle right to the PP. Hulk Hogan 2 scored at 2:13, giving the Bears a 1-0 lead. They would follow that up with Sirdsvaldis Miglaskems scoring at 8:48, doubling their lead, 2-0. In the 2nd Period, Vinny Detroit continued that trend, and scored a goal for Seattle to bring this game to 3-0. The Wranglers were down, but not out. Towards the end of the period, the Seattle Bears ran into penalty troubles. Tom Eagles scored on the PP at 13:26, bringing this game to 3-1. Less than a minute later, Phil The Rock Johnson carried that momentum and scored to bring it to 3-2. Not long after that, Vinny Detroit took a hooking penalty with under 2 minutes left in the 2nd Period, and Calgary made sure to fire it home. Gustislav Nasherov scored at 18:52 while on the PP, and this game was tied 3-3. In the 3rd Period, Calgary killed off an early penalty, then Seattle's Sigard Petrenko went to the box for slashing. Erlantz Jokinen scored on the PP, and brought this game to 4-3. All of a sudden Calgary had a lead after being down 3-0. Shots went back and forth, but ultimately Phil The Rock Johnson would score an empty net goal, and Calgary went on to win this game, 5-3.
