  8. Time Flies The 35th season of the Victory Hockey League is finally underway. After a delay of a few weeks the league had all of their issues worked out and kicked off the new season. A new season also brings new chances for goaltender Remy LeBeau. The 34th season in the league was a disaster for his team since the Legion missed the playoffs in a stacked North American Conference. Award Time On a personal level the 34th season was quite the opposite. He was the prime reason for the Legion to be so competitive and his stellar play even gave him a nomination for being the league’s Most Valuable Player of the regular season. He did not win that trophy but his play was good enough to bring home his first personal award, the Aidan Shaw trophy for the league’s best goaltender. While he is still the only elite goaltender of his generation (Skylar Rift and Tuomas Tukio) without a cup ring, he is the first out of the trio to pick up the Aidan Shaw award; a special moment in LeBeau’s career. The first four seasons Four seasons have gone past before LeBeau finally received the recognition that he feels he deserves so much. His whole career he has been held back by the team in front of him as well, so it feels good that despite not having the best team in front of him, to be able to post the best numbers that year. The first two seasons of his career were on an empty Toronto team enabling him to train hard on all the incoming shots. While receiving this amount of shots it became clear that he was one of the goaltenders in history of the VHL with the most shots against; a perfect opportunity to train for the youngling. The third season in LeBeau’s career entered a whole new dimension. For the first time in his VHL career his team made the playoffs. They managed to push the Calgary Wranglers to six games but the star power they had was just too big for LeBeau to withstand. LeBeau really hoped they could improve in his fourth season and Odin Tordahl was traded for winger Smooth Jive to get them more offensive power. The season went different as expected as the Quebec City Meute had gotten Yuri Grigorenko and Skylar Rift in Free Agency and becoming an instant competitor in North America with these additions. Next to the Meute the Wranglers and Americans managed to reach the playoffs. Toronto came close to a spot but it just was not enough. The Future The halfway mark of LeBeau his career has passed and he is starting to bank training points in order to keep his abilities up to strength in the upcoming years. He has maxed out his most vital statistics and still hopes to be one of the highest first generation players in the VHL. The Toronto Legion should return to the playoffs again this year and once they are in, anything will be possible. The back-end of the team received an upgrade since both Ville Sixten and Dan Tremblay have made the jump to the majors. This is also the last season in the career of Smooth Jive. Wouldn’t it be the best present to give his friend a cup in his final year? Time flies when you are having fun and LeBeau is ready for the next four years of his career. Words: 571

  21. Terrorists attack the VHL Headquarters The start of the 35th season of the Victory Hockey League has been delayed a bit due to an enormous terrorist attack on the leagues headquarters. The attack brought down the VHL Datacenter and made sure that the league would have to get everything sorted again before the season could start again. It is all based on speculation, but it seems that the virus that 701 had downloaded on his pc is the leader of the terrorist group. While we live in a time where we do not yet believe that viruses can have personalities it is certainly the most legitimate reason. Due to having feed himself on several of 701’s laptops the virus grew strong enough and was hungry for more. It all lead to the crime of the century when the virus decided that laptops were not feeding him enough anymore, he needed a more and bigger goal. More data to demolish; more gigabytes to grow stronger. The virus was looking to achieve world domination. The attack succeeded and the virus was ready to take over the world and it seemed unstoppable. Crimes won’t go unpunished though and the virus attack got spotted by the company that hosted the league’s information. They brought the site down and disconnected it from the internet. Much like the Navy Seals Team Six they had eliminated a threat of national security. For the VHL this attack meant they had to move locations and they found a new home, almost all the players have to seem to make the move over to the new locations so the players are getting prepared to start the new season. The community worked very hard to get the league going again and to preserve all the data that was available. Numerous searches of Google Cache and maybe even more attempts of recovering the database all turned out successful for the preservation of the league. The league has a new home and the community and commissioners keep working hard to get everything started. Even Victor came back after a blink of inactivity after the site went down. Reports claim he was eating fish and chips all day, because that is what people in the United Kingdom do. Now that everything seems to be recovered it is a matter of time before all gets back to normal again. The league has had 34 successful seasons and it wasn’t likely to survive an attack. While the old host contained the terrorist threat there is always more danger looming. The possible dangers ahead are rumored to be the following: * Vasteras winning another cup * Vasteras being moved to Madrid * Vasteras having less than four goaltenders on their roster So it’s clear that there always will be threats looming; however the V in VHL stands for Victory (and not for just Victor) and Victory is what will be achieved. The league has survived over the last few years and they are looking forward to continue this for a long time. The league can’t be stopped and the community can be thanked for this. To everyone who have helped over the weeks, thanks for everything. Words: 529
