  1. Vancouver Wolves hulking defenseman Guntis Gavilrovs is off to a physical start in his first 24 VHL games as a rookie throwing a team leading 82 hits and absorbing 60 blocks! He's shown a strong defensive game and even added some offense with 2 goals, 9 assists for 11 points. The 6'8 250 pound blueliner has also spent 62 minutes in the penalty box as he's stuck up for his teammates and been hard on opponents. Gavilrovs shows no mercy in front of the Wolves net and repeatedly hammers opponents who try and create traffic in front. The big Latvian's game continues to impress in his rookie season even if the Wolves aren't off to the best start. This team has a ton of rookies and are all developing well and getting good opportunities under the exceptional Vancouver Management staff. Logan Ninefingers 15 points and 52 hits, Riley Martin 14 points and 111 shots, Vlad Von Carstein with 22 points from D and 56 blocks, DB IV with 1 goal and 21 hits. Gavilrovs and the Wolves are tough to play against and will no doubt put together some wins as their talented young group gets more comfortable with each passing week.

    Easter Weekend

Been a busy week from a personal standpoint but heading back to teaching in a few weeks and finally ended working at 3am in the morning means I should have more time to actually put more effort into Press Conference questions so bare with me with these horrible questions!! 😁 I promise that they might get better sooner than later. So Easter weekend that seems to have snuck up on us; okay at least me. Easter egg hunts, chocolate, chicks etc... Traditions? Answer three questions for one TPE or all six for two TPE. As always have fun!!

    1.     Left Alone @okochastar is currently in the top 10 of goal scoring in the league do you think he should pass the puck more or shoot the puck more? Why?

    2.     Liv Slater @Subject056 is once again top 10 in defensive scoring but where would you rank her amongst the defensemen in the league today? Why?

    3.     What VHL team is surprising you the most so far about quarter of the season? Why?

    4.     At this point of the season Vancouver seems to be struggling and sit seventh in the conference; what is the biggest area that we can improve as team to start turning our season around? Why?

    5.     Easter Weekend and a few seasons ago the Vancouver Wolves when to the Children Hospital for Halloween; Do you think the Wolves should do something similar in the community and what should we do?

    6.     What are your Easter plans, anything special or traditional?

    1. Definitely shoot the puck more, we need him to score as many goals as possible!

    2. I'd say top Defenseman in the league, can do it all, shoot, pass, score, hit, block and defend. Had a huge season last year and is having another great one this year.

    3. Moscow. I thought they would struggle but apparently are pretty good this year.

    4. I think we're finding our way and what works with a lot of new faces and builds in the line up. Once we find the best system we will go on a run no question. Also we could afford to allow a few less goals.

    5. I think we should deliver spiral hams to needy families.

    6. Nothing too crazy, seeing some family having a meal.

  3. The Vancouver Wolves are off to a solid start on the season with a record of 5-4 through 9 games with a +5 goal differential. The Highly touted Vancouver fab 5 rookies, Ninefingers, Martin, Gavilrovs, Von Carstein and DB IV have all been contributing at various rates as they find their way as pros in the VHL:

Riley Martin: With an impressive 10 points through 9 games including a whopping 7 goals the steal of the S92 draft is making other sorry they didn't take him earlier. He's off to an incredible start for Vancouver and is quickly making a name for himself in the VHL.

Vlad Von Carstein: The offensively talented blue liner also has 10 points in his first 9 games as a pro including 8 assists! Very impressive start for the up and coming offensive defenseman as he makes his mark in the VHL, he also has 19 blocks!

Logan Ninefingers: Solid start for the mammoth power forward who's posted 5 points through 9 games including 2 goals and 19 hits! He's throwing his weight around and we expect more goals to come as he gets comfortable playing against other top lines in the VHL.

Guntis Gavilrovs: The behemoth blue liner racked up 9 hits in a recent game showing he can be a force in the VHL. He's also added 4 points including a goal and an impressive 27 hits to go along with 17 bocks. He's doing well but is hopeful for more! Especially more hits!

DB IV: The well-rounded depth defenseman has already buried his 1st goal of the season! He has solid peripherals as well for his minutes played. As the season continues expect to see improvements in his game each week as he finds his way in the pros.

    Season Starts!!

After what seemed along the longest Winter with long dark days, not sunlight for what seemed like weeks with the food running low and starting to look around wondering who we would eat first; the regular season is finally about to start. Answer three questions for one TPE or all six for two TPE. As always have fun!!

    1.     Did this offseason seem extra-long for you or was it just the anticipation of a new team, new season making if feel longer? Explain Why or why not?

    2.     Was there anything surprising that you noticed during the offseason that took your interest or other should know about? What and why?

    3.     What goals do you have set for your player this season?

    4.     Captain will be named soon as a poll is running in the locker room, who did you vote for and why?

    5.     Do you believe in the Vancouver Wolves captains curse? Did this affect your voting preference?

    6.     Liv Slater took a ton of hardware home this past season in a way of awards; do you think she can repeat any of the awards or all of the awards? Which one and why?

Thank God the season is here!!

    1. Yes it seemed long but no complaints, gave me time to earn some extra tpe and get my build where I want it, now should be able to make big impact and help the team even more

    2. I was in the WJC so that was fun for a few days but otherwise nothing of note

    3. #1 is always help the team make the playoffs and go deep, but personal goals would be 250 hits and 150+ blocks. Anything less and I will be ashamed of myself.

    4. Send me the poll so I can vote! lol

    5. Nope there is nothing to it, this team rules and no supposed curse can stop us.

    6. Absolutely yes, Slater is a beast and will win all the defensive awards this season, that's why I took him #1 in fantasy after stealing in like the 3rd round last season where he helped me win my group!

  5. Coming off his recent VHLE Defenseman of the year award, Guntis Gavilrovs continues to perform at a high level in the S92 WJC tournament for Team Europe! So far through 6 games of the round robin Europe is 5-1 and Gavilrovs leads the team in scoring with 8 points, consisting of 1 goal and 7 assists! He also has a whopping 26 hits to lead the tourney and 16 blocks as he's once again showing a dominant physical game to compliment his offensive game. Amazingly he has kept his penalties somewhat under control with only 10 pims in 5 games. It appears that Team Europe and Team Canada are the top teams in the tourney this year, they've played once so far and it was a 3-2 win for the Canadians but could have gone either way. It should be fun to see how this tourney ends and if Gavilrovs can lead Europe to a 1st place finish. It also should be noted that other Vancouver S93 rookies are also playing great in this tourney, Ninefingers, Carstein, Martin and DB IV are all performing at a high level. The Wolves future is incredibly bright!

    1. Love going for a bike ride

    2. Nahh only chipped a tooth

    3. I guess the colour would be grey, that includes everything from black to white I think

Q1) Who was the biggest steal of the VHL draft just gone

Q2) Would you be more interested in a golf sim over the off season than watching the World Cup sims

Q3) What NHL market do you think that the VHL should expand to

    1. I would have to say Annie Oaks to Vancouver at 4, player and person seem awesome and should become a superstar

    2. I'm currently in the WJC so that's fun but I wouldn't mind a golf sim league lol

    3. Minnesota without question. The state of Hockey.

    Questions:

    1. What does your player do in the off-seasosn to keep busy?

    2. What are your goals for the upcoming season?

    3. How much should a beer cost at your home arena?

  7. The Vancouver Wolves will be taking the ice this season with 6 active rookies in the line up! A very exciting time for the organization as this group has a lot of upside and star power!

Logan Ninefingers: The 1st Overall pick in the S92 VHL draft, the big power forward had a great minor league career racking up 230 points in 162 games along with 531 hits. He brings an elite skill set and a rugged physical game to the Wolves and has to be one of the favorites for rookie of the year in S93!

Riley Martin: The 4th Overall pick S92, Martin is coming off a fantastic season in the VHLE where he tallied 90 points in 72 games and was among the top scorers in the league. A sublimely talented forward who also has a strong two way game, Martin will become a superstar in this league for Vancouver!

Vlad Von Carstein: Taken 6th Overall in S92 the highly skilled defenseman is coming off a championship in the VHLE and was one of the best defenseman in entire the league with 71 points. VVC has also racked up 152 points in 156 minor league games from the blue line! High end offense and strong defense means the sky's the limit for him in the VHL!

Guntis Gavilrovs: Taken 7th Overall in the S92 draft, the mammoth defender is a beast at both ends of the ice, leading the VHLE in hits (295) and assists (61) as well as all defenseman in scoring with 78 points last season. Gavilrovs was a force during his entire minor league career throwing 519 hits and scoring 143 points in 152 games. Just an absolute beauty.

DB IV: 12th Overall from the S92 draft, the well rounded defenseman plays a strong phsyical game and has good offensive upside as evident by his 60 points from the blue line in 72 games during his VHLM season. His 371 hits in 160 minor league games shows he can get it done in both zones and he should develop into a strong blue liner for the Wolves!

Mikko Borisyuk: The journeyman rookie was taken 27th back in S89 and has had a bit longer road to the VHL but he is a highly talented forward who can produce offense with 268 points 360 minor league games. He will add great scoring depth the Wolves this season!

A great looking rookie crop for Vancouver, it will be exciting to see what kind of impact they all have in season 93!
