    1. I think it’s great how good Vegas is doing this season. That may just be me sucking up to management since I’m new.

    2. Of course I’m part of those moves.

    3. I started out really good but got overshadowed by a teammate with half the tpe that I have.

CurtisG93 reacted to Jubo in Vegas Acquires Top Tier Centre
    Late Sunday evening, talks began between Vegas and Sakatoon. Vegas was strongly interested in acquiring centre Curtis Gary @CurtisG93 to further improve their deep roster. After much deliberation a deal was struck;
    To Las Vegas :Curtis Gary + S65 SSK 3rd + S66 SSK 4th
    To Saskatoon: Cal Davidson + S65 LVA 1st + S66 LVA 2nd

Gary will have his hand at the first line centre duties between two of the hottest VHLM wingers; Dan Baillie and Nathan N who have amassed 28 points a piece through just 16 games. Depending on performance over the next few games, Gary could become a permanent fixture on the top unit. Gary on his own right has put up impressive numbers alongside Anton Edvin allowing the rebuilding Saskatoon Wild to compete. The Aces are coming off of a very strong night winning 8-1 over the Wild and 3-2 over 2nd place Halifax. The trade gives Vegas incredible depth at Centre. He joins McDavid,  Chance Matthews and Anthony Matthews down the middle. While the trade will result on some minor line mix-ups, Vegas management is confident it won't take long for new chemistries to form. Vegas parts ways with centre Cal Davidson who they selected 38th overall this past draft. Davidson had just 1 goal in 16 contests and was benched recently due to missed practices.

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan - A new day is upon us. The confetti from season 63’s VHLM championship parade covers the streets of Saskatoon and babies are being made in houses all around the town. Yes, these people of Saskatoon know how to celebrate. But for one Saskatoon player the celebration is being put out of his mind. “Last season was great, we had the perfect team and everything seem to fall into place at the right time,” said Saskatoon forward Curtis Gary. “I was grateful to have a pretty good rookie season with a lot of opportunity to grow my game on the second line.”

With season 64 upon us and many of the teammates from last years championship team leaving for the big leagues, Gary is looking forward to leading the Saskatoon Wild to a repeat of last season on the top line. “It’s something I’m really embracing right now, I’m staying focused on making my game better every single day so I can be that role model for the new guys coming in next season.”

CurtisG93 got a reaction from Tagger in Reign Draft VHLM Champion
It’s official, with the 16th overall pick in the season 64 VHL draft the Riga Reign have selected center Curtis Gary. Playing his first season for the Saskatoon Wild, of the VHLM, Gary recorded 41 points in 72 games (12 goals 29 assists) and led all VHLM players in both goals (8) and points (17) in the playoffs on route to winning his first championship. Expectations are for Gary to stay down in the minors this season as he looks to gain some more experience in order to break onto the scene in season 65.

Riga Reign GM @hedgehog337 had this to say about picking Curtis Gary 16th overall, “The first reason is his position. I was eyeing center in this draft too and was hoping he would go to us for that reason . Secondly, he’s looking to do more to gain experience (tpe), which helped his draft stock go up”.

When we got a chance to stop Gary amongst all the chaos and celebration, he had this to say, “This is the greatest day of my life, up to this point, to be able to have an incredible year with a championship team in the minors and now to be drafted by the defending VHL champs, it’s huge I’m just so happy and excited for the future.” A long road lies ahead for Curtis Gary and he knows it. “I know I need time to grow some more and I feel being drafted has given me a lot of motivation to gain as much experience this season as I can. The last thing I want to do is let the city, the owner, GM, teammates, and the fans down.”

CurtisG93 got a reaction from Beaviss in Curtis Gary: S64 VHL Draft Profile
With the season 64 VHL draft being held on Tuesday, December 18th, it’s time to take a last minute look at another prospect who thinks he ready to take the next step in his VHL career.

                                  Curtis Gary
                              Position: Center
                                 Height: 5’11”
                               Weight: 180lbs

                            S63 Stats (VHLM)
                             Regular Season:
          GP: 72   G: 12   A: 29   PTS: 41   +/-: +7
                                  Playoffs:
          GP: 11   G: 8   A: 9   PTS: 17   +/-: +9

When season 63 got underway for the VHLM the name Curtis Gary was just another name in the sea of rookies, and to be honest by the end of the season his name still wasn’t really known. But this has not discouraged Curtis Gary one bit. “I was drafted late in the season 63 VHLM draft and started the season with a long scoring slump. It got really hard to keep my mental focus on the long term goals. I wanted things to change immediately”, Gary said. “I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned this season is that ‘good things come to those who wait’. I needed patience to keep my mind focused on the little details in my game.”

It took all seventy-two regular season games for Curtis Gary to really show his worth as a player in the VHLM. Gary would make up one of three key forwards on the second line of the Saskatoon Wild, which helped drive the depth scoring and pushed the Wild into the playoffs. By the end of the regular season Gary saw his game peaking at the right moment. “I felt great, I felt like I was very comfortable in my play. I had great line mates (Mark Gebauer and Kyson Blake) who gave 110% effort every night, if one wasn’t scoring another picked up the slack, it was a great combo.”

Then came the VHLM playoffs. Gary expected to keep the same role he had played during the regular season as a depth scorer, but through the first seven games (all against Halifax) Gary recorded 12 points (6 goals, 6 assists) good enough to lead not just his team in scoring, but also the league (in goals and points). In the final round an interesting challenge faced Gary and the Wild, the underdog Ottawa Lynx. Through the four game sweep Gary recorded 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) along with the VHLM championship.

All in all it wasn’t a bad rookie for a young Curtis Gary, 41 points in 72 regular season games and 17 points in 11 playoff games. Gary finished the playoffs on top in goals and points on the way to his first VHLM championship.

When asked what he would bring to a VHL team, if they chose him in the season 64 draft, Gary had this to say: “I’m not gonna give you the same gibberish answers everyone else with a big ego gives you, I’m no superpower filled man I’m just a normal human being who loves hockey, scores goals, wins faceoffs, and has a VHLM championship. I’m here to get better every day, every week, every season.”

Special Season 63 Stat: Curtis Gary was sixth in the league in faceoff percentage for the regular season at 54.88%, taking well over a thousand attempts.

CurtisG93 got a reaction from Peace in Slow Start Doesn’t Faze Saskatoon Rookie [1/2]
SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN- it’s not easy being a rookie in a new league sometimes. Just ask Curtis Gary, center for the Saskatoon Wild of the VHLM. It’s about getting your feet wet and finding your place in the league. After a slow start with zero points to show through his first nine games, Curtis Gary is starting to feel comfortable in the VHLM, and is looking the part too. “It’s frustrating, you know, coming into a brand new league with a deep draft class and an already talented group of other teams”, said Gary. “There’s defiantly been the adjustment period. So far there’s been a lot of over thinking and wondering ‘what if’, it’s something you have to play through.”

Now twenty-three games into the season Curtis has tallied 2 goals, 8 assist for 10 points on the season. Now Curtis is showing signs of his true potential as a young forward and he hopes it turns into a VHL contract next season. “I know there’s teams watching and wondering if I can fit into their system, I think I’m very versatile, I can change on the fly if need be. I’m willing to do whatever it takes.”

One stat that Curtis has prided himself on is his face off percentage. Standing at 56% in the face off dot Curtis is standing firm on his goal that he set for himself in preseason. “I’ve said before, back in preseason, how winning the face off is crucial to a teams chances of winning, you start with the puck you dictate the game, you lose the puck you chase the game. I feel really good at where my face off percentage is at right this moment.”

If there is a downside to Curtis’ play it’s his discipline. Twenty-one penalty minutes through twenty-three games is not a stat Curtis would like to hang his hat on. “It goes back to the frustration from the beginning of the season”, Curtis said, “I had to pull myself back at times and open up my eyes to what the slow start was doing to me. Since the points have started flowing in my penalty minutes have gone down, which I intend to keep trending.” If there was a bright side to this it would be that he has his first VHLM fight in the books.

When asked about the overall start to the season for his team, the Saskatoon Wild (14-9-0 28 pts, 3rd in the VHLM), Curtis was quick to comment. “You know our depth scoring was nonexistent at the beginning of the season, if it wasn’t for guys like Rylan Peace, Chace Trepanier, Piotr Jerwa, and a few others our season could look very different right now. Those guys have done their job so far through the season now it’s the depth scorings turn to carry the weight too, and I think you’re starting to see that.”

Curtis sits seventh on his team in scoring, and sits fourty-eighth in league scoring.

CurtisG93 got a reaction from JG10 in Rookie Profile - Curits Gary [1/2]
SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN — We’re edging closer and closer to the start of a brand new season in the VHLM and it’s time for another rookie profile. Today we dive into the profile of an up and coming forward looking to break out onto the VHL scene. So without further ado let’s take a look at the Saskatoon Wild’s forward Curtis Gary.

    Name: Curtis Gary
    VHLM Team: Saskatoon Wild
    Drafted: 26th overall Season 63 (5th round, 2nd pick)
    Jersey Number: 17
    Height: 5’11”
    Weight: 185 lbs
    Birthplace: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Influenced by: Patrice Bergeron, Radek Faksa, Anze Kopitar,

    Strengths

Faceoffs: With more emphasis being put on the details in the game of hockey in 2018, it’s very important to start with the details that can help out other areas of a players game. Faceoffs are the focal point to any center positions career. If your numbers are poor in the faceoff dot they can reflect quickly on your teams overall performance. As we all know you need to posses the puck to score or even have a chance of scoring. Faceoff wins lead to possession, which in turn can ultimately lead to scoring chances. Curtis has prided himself on making this his number one priority in his game. “I feel it’s more important, than a lot of people put emphasis on, to win that initial draw. Sure you can always win it back by working hard to steal the puck from the other team, but I don’t want to put myself and my teammates in a position to chase the game. If I can win the draw at least 55% of the time, in a game, it gives our team a good chance to win every night”.

Defense: Anze Kopitar and Patrice Bergeron are two NHL Selkie Trophy winners who understand the responsibilities of center ice men. You have to be a two way player to play the center position. It takes a good scoring touch and forecheck, along with good conditioning and defense to really thrive at that position. Curtis may be an offensive player, but he grew up with defense in his heart. “I love the old saying, ‘defense wins championships’, and it’s so true without defense from everyone on your team it can be a long season. I grew playing defense in soccer, before I got into hockey. I think playing that position, even in a different sport, really gave me the perspective that I needed to understand that defense isn’t just something that happens, it takes a lot of conditioning, heart, and the right mental state”.

Shot: Curtis’ shot is one of the most underrated in the league. The 5th round draft pick is going into the season looking to change opinions on his shot. “I think it’s good motivation, getting drafted in the 5th round, to show all the teams that skipped over me what they were truly missing in my shot”.

    Weaknesses

Skating: Curtis’ skating could defiantly use some work. Don’t expect to see Curtis skating circles around opposing players. But I expect we might be talking a different story by the end of the season.

Discipline: Win the special teams battle, you just might win the game. But staying out of the sin bin will be a work in progress for Curtis.

Strength: Only weighing in at 185 lbs and standing 5’11”, strength is not one of Curtis’ , well, strengths. Only a rookie, nonetheless. By next season it could be a different story.

    SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN—
Rumors have turned to confirmed reports that the brand new Haterade Brand has come to terms with Saskatoon Wild forward Curtis Gary. The deal is for 1 year, for $250,000. Gary, one of many rookies in the VHLM this year, official signed the deal before an on ice session this morning. Perfect timing, for the Saskatoon forward, to rep his new Haterade brand gear.

“It feels good to get an endorsement deal before the season begins”, Gary said. “I think I’m really going to enjoy being apart of the Haterade brand team, it’s a very exciting time for me personally.”

When asked about the terms of his 1 year deal Gary had this to say. “It’s good start, I’m very content with the money and the length of the deal. I think I can use the 1 year deal as motivation to proof my worth as a player and a teammate. It’s defiantly an exciting time, and I can’t wait till the season gets started.”
