  1. Even though the Regular season is finished Einar Mathiesen is not after coming off a hot season playing over in Sweden, Mathiesen would enter in to the Junior Showcase tournament Mathiesen would be selected by the Brigade and has so far helped them to be currently 3rd and only behind the 2nd placed Steel by only 3 points so far in 15 games The Icelandic Defenceman has notched a goal and 2 assists for 3 points.

Before He entered the tournament I was able to catch up to Mathiesen at a Reykjavik rink where he likes to practice when he comes back home where we talked a little about the upcoming VHLM draft and how he was preparing for it.

"Well I'm out here every day working on improving every aspect of my game, I wanna show and prove to all the scouts and coaches that I'm worthy of a high draft pick I know I'm one of the least experienced players in this draft class but I think in the few years I've played I've done well and should be ready for the transition to the VHLM and I look forward to it."

  2. 1. Rough start for us but we will bounce back, and with that, the first question is: Where do you think we will finish in the Regular season?

I think we can defiantly finish top 2 it's not gonna be easy at all though but I'm sure we can get it done.

    2. Were you happy with the Captain selection?

Yea I think the three selected are great leaders and will hold us all accountable to play our best.

    3. Who do you think will finish with the most points on our team?

Either Cook or Khan its a toss up really for me I know they both can get it done.

    4. Were you happy to be Drafted to the Brigade?

Absolutely Im just glad to get this opportunity to show out and have fun and hopefully come out of here with some medals.

    5. Who do you think will win it all?

it Definitely looks like the Warriors at the moment but I wouldn't rule anybody put right now.

    6. What is your favorite pre-game warmup?

Quick 10 minute mini workout along with some stretches to get going and ready.

  3. Einar Mathiesen
    Age: 20
    Position: D
    Height: 6'4
    Weight: 210lbs

Einar Mathiesen was born and raised in the Reykjavik area like many other Icelanders, His parents were hard working people with his Mother being a teacher at the local high school and his Father being a fisherman like many of the men in his family before him it was expected that Einar would follow in the steps of his father and ancestors and become a fisherman as well thus his father would bring Einar out on his fishing boat as much as possible and teach him the ways of the trade.

Einar had bigger ambitions than fishing for the rest of his life though for from a very young age he was obsessed with sports he would try and start matches at the parks or signup for any team at his school or community center but there was one sport that stood above the rest for Einar and that was Football one of the most popular sports in all of Iceland and one that the Icelandic National team was improving at and was even having success in European competitions and even Made a World cup recently, It Was his dream to play for a top football club in Europe and become the greatest athlete Iceland had ever seen and lead the national team to even more success.

Einar's dream of becoming a pro football player looked well on its way to becoming a reality as he did well in the youth levels and would start gaining attention from local professional clubs youth scouts in the Reykjavik area and would eventually be signed to a youth contract at just 14 years old by one of Iceland's top football clubs Valur FC to play defence as he was quite tall for his age, Everything seemed to be going great and Einar felt like he was on the right path to accomplishing his dream he would sometimes even see National team u18 scouts at his games albeit he wasn't exactly sure if they were there for him but he would do everything possible to get on their radar.

At 16 Einar Graduated from high school and was glad that he could finally fully focus on Football as that was his last season playing for Valur's u16 team and was looking to get promoted to the u18 team or possibly even the first team all throughout that season he was waiting for the coach to pull him aside and tell him he was going up yet that moment didn't come until after the very last game of the season except it certainly wasn't what Einar Hoped and expected was gonna happen the coach told him he wasn't gonna be promoted and was to be cut from the team he just wasn't good enough, Einar would end up getting in contact with every team in Iceland's top division and try to secure a spot in their u18 teams as he wasn't just gonna give up after one rejection unfortunately most teams wouldn't even respond back and the ones that did told him no after months of trying he felt he had to face the truth that he just wasn't good enough and that his dream was just that a dream.

Einar would go on and work with his father on his fishing boat after realizing he would never become a professional footballer he didn't mind the work it wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't what he had envisioned doing he always thought he would be on a bigger stage playing football and less than half a year after his football career ended and he started working with his father he come across a flyer advertising tryouts for a local Ice hockey team in Reykjavik that played in Iceland Professional League he considered signing up and ended up going through with it although there were a few problems he didn't know how to skate and he would have to find a place that had ice to learn because despite the name Iceland doesn't really get cold or have much Ice, Using money he got from working with his father he would buy his first pair of skates and a stick and would pay for Ice time at a local rink he found where he would teach himself how to skate and play the game of hockey.

At the tryouts he was the least experienced of anyone there yet he still impressed the coaches and they invited him to practice with the team and see if he actually could matchup well enough after a couple of practices it was determined by the coaching staff that he had the talent and potential and he was signed to a two year contract his first season was a learning curve as he was playing against older and more experienced players but by the end of his first season he showed great progression and won League Rookie of the Year by the start of his second season he was the best player on the team leading the team to their best record in history and their first ever championship and was named league and playoff MVP putting up 56 goals and 70 assists for 126 points in only 21 total games.

After Such a dominant season in Iceland's domestic league teams in Europe were calling and Einar would end up hiring an agent and sign for a Team in Sweden as he felt they were the best option to help develop his game and get his name out there to teams in the VHL as now he had found a new Dream and it was hockey that was going to succeed and let the whole hockey world know his name for that to happen he knew he had to make the VHL and do great things there, Sweden while much better than Iceland in terms of hockey Einar still dominated the league and once again lead his team to a cup and won both league and playoff MVP after much deliberation between staying another season in Sweden Or Declaring for the S94 VHLM Draft Einar chose the latter and entered his name in to the pool of draftees.

  4. This is Really Just a Media spot on my experience Here since I'm back and all.

So here I am back again and when I say again I actually mean this is my third attempt at returning but this time it just feels different for some reason I'm not even sure why. The Other Day it was like four in the morning and I was having trouble falling asleep when that happens my mind likes to wander and it went back to 2018/19 which was when I joined the VHL and was active for nearly a year, I believe it was an ad on the BBGM Reddit that first introduced me to the VHL It reminded me of Be a Pro mode which I had good memories of when it was good. So I joined up and on December 10th, 2018 Early in the morning while I waited for the bus to school I created my first and only good player to Date ( Mathiesen will be on par or better I promise)
Jack Lynch a Right Winger from Winnipeg a player who was based on Myself somewhat.

When I first joined the VHL I had just moved that summer to a new town and wasn't really close friends with anyone there yet so the VHL gave me something to do in my free time. Lynch was drafted either 20th or 24th by Ottawa in S64 VHLM draft (player page says 24th while draft page says 20th honestly can't remember where either but it was somewhere in the 4th round), One thing I remember about that Ottawa team was its great locker room and how helpful everybody was it is probably a big reason  I stayed around so shoutout to diamond_ace and everybody else apart of that team (I was looking back at my messages in the discord and I didn't remember it all but apparently I had problems with the OTT gm that come after DA for bringing non-ottawa guys into the team discord its funny to look back on now).

Lynch started off his career pretty well for in the first game of the season and his career he scored a goal and was named the third star in a great 4-2 win against Las Vegas, He would go on to score 46 points (12 Goals & 36 assists) that season helping Ottawa to a 3rd place finish in a heated 3-way race between us 2nd placed Halifax and the top seeded Las Vegas Aces, Oslo and Saskatoon would fight off in a wild card round to see who would have the honour of getting Swept by Las Vegas, Oslo ended up getting that honour meanwhile the actually noteworthy semi finals series was between Ottawa and Halifax there was only a 4 point difference between the two teams in the regular season ( Halifax's 106 points to Ottawa's 102) HAL took game 1 6-4 and proceeded to take game 2 3-2 and looked ready to move past us then and there, we were able to take the 3rd game 5-4 but Halifax struck back and took a 3-1 lead after beating us 4-2 in game 5 halifax was looking to take this game and move on already meanwhile we were fighting for survival and that created a intense game which after 60 minutes was tied 6-6 where Don Draper secured the win and a game 6 for Ottawa with a powerplay Goal Unfortunately for us Halifax would get 7 in past us the next game and take the series Lynch would finish 4 points (1 goal 3 assists) in that series.

Las Vegas would end up beating Halifax in 6 to lift the Cup while I made the decision to stay in the VHLM for another season and Lynch would be picked by Davos at 16th in the S65 VHL draft, Ottawa would lose several key players to that draft (in fact the whole top 5 of that draft played for OTT in S64) which meant well Lynch was kinda carrying the team the Ottawa front office saw no reason to keep Lynch around as this would be his last season in the VHLM and they were a middling team with him so he was traded to one of the new expansion teams for that off-season the VHLM had made a of couple changes like the storm moving from Oslo to Minnesota while Philidelphia and Houston would get teams in the Reapers and Bulls.

Houston Would Send Blake Laughton, S67 1st and 4th round Picks in exchange For Lynch ( who was averaging over a point a game at that point)
The Trade Would give Houston a great first line of forwards as Jurri, Kirbsson and Lynch were some of the best in the league at their positions(102,108 and 98 points that season respectively), Houston's season did not go as well as they might have hoped for finishing just 3rd and Of course because I need a team to dislike for no reason Lynch and Houston would end up facing Halifax in the 2nd round Where they would be down 2-0 after 2 games and it all seemed like deja vu for lynch as Houston would take game 3 only to lose the next and put them down 3-1 we where able to take games 5 and 6 and looked ready to pull off the 3-1 comeback but short losing in game 7 in overtime I'm gonna be real Lynch Dissapeared in that series only 5 points in 7 games for a guy who 98 in 72 in the regular season definitely not a great way to end my career in the VHLM.

I was Ready for the VHL and to play, I would never get the chance to play for the Team that drafted Me HC Davos because I would be picked by the Malmo Nighthawks in the S66 expansion draft, Malmo also had a great locker room as expected of an expansion team in their first year we struggled being the worst team in the European conference and we were only slightly better than Seattle Lynch had a pretty decent rookie season getting 28 goals and 35 assists for a total of 63 points although Malmo had a bad first season our future looked promising with the mixture of expansion draft guys and entry draft guys.

S67 was much of the same for Malmo and Lynch as The Nighthawks once again found themselves at the bottom of their conference and were the 2nd worst team in the league while Lynch put up 23 goals and 41 assists for 64 points on the season, The next season however would see the rise of Malmo as they would shoot up to the top in their conference and the league as a whole due to some Trades and Free Agency as well as the rise of players already on the Team, Malmo would take down HC Davos in 7 and then proceed to the 2nd round where they beat the Riga Reign in 5 and would advance to the Finals against Seattle where I wish I could tell you they won but that didn't happen Seattle swept us.

and that's the end of Lynch really, I was inactive for most of that last year in Malmo which sucks cause it was a good team and I could have probably helped more if I was active, Lynch would then be traded to Riga and almost a 60 point season there (24 goals and 35 assists) and then finished out his career in Seattle as a depth piece all in all he had a solid career in both the VHL
putting 271 Points in 360 games ( 108 goals and 163 assists) while in the VHLM 144 points in 144 games ( 62 goals and 82 assists) I was surprised that he had exactly a point per game career in the VHLM cool i guess I know I wrote about the VHLM more but that's what I seem to remember the most all good times though.

When I first started writing up this media spot to prove to myself I wouldn't just abandon this player like the last two and also for TPE lets be real, I wasn't sure exactly what brought me back to the VHL but now that I've started looking through my messages and posts and also searching for any memories I have of the league I landed on a few things The league is fun of course,
But I really like the community people were so helpful here when I first joined and I'm hoping it hasn't changed either( I doubt it has) cause it seems there have been a lot of changes since I was actually active for example I see there are new attributes now that's gonna be a learning curve for me I'm sure and I'l be ready for it.

Anyway I'm excited to be back and I'm gonna be active like I used to be hopefully that's the plan anyway We shall see I guess.

Halifax Please don't draft me I'm destined to despise y'all for some reason. (jk draft me if you wanna be disappointed it's sort of a specialty of mine)

It’s great to be back. One of the first things I did when I logged back on earlier today was check my notifications and I was surprised to see I had an actual mention and it was from you and here I was thinking Lynch was gonna be lost to history so that was nice to see.

  7. It was a cold late October morning as Dekster stepped off the plane and began making his way through the Saskatoon airport he had never stepped foot in Saskatchewan before today but he was told it was slightly similar to Manitoba his home for the last three years he kept walking only stopping to grab his baggage,The eighteen year old had only been on a plane once before and that was three years ago when he was on a very long flight across the Atlantic leaving his home nation of Poland behind,He missed his family back home he wondered what they were up to right now,He didn’t have much close family outside of Poland except for his older half brother and trainer Jack Lynch a former VHL player that saw some decent seasons in the pros playing his best years for the then new expansion team the Malmo Nighthawks the only reason Dekster came to Canada was cause of Jack offering to help train him and that He had connections in the industry and would be able to help further his dreams of going pro encouraged by his mother he took up the offer hoping to achieve his dream of being like his brother and playing in the pro’s before he made the journey across the Atlantic he didn’t know much about his older brother who he had only found out about a few years earlier after finding out about him he would every day after hockey practice watch Highlights of Jack’s and read about his career,While he was a great player in his home nation of Poland he had doubts of how good he would be in Canada as there was lots more competition and it would be much harder than he was used to,He struggled the first year of hockey in the new country as the season went on and he struggled more his morale and love for the game wasn’t as high as it once was Jack seeing this decided to put all his attention on training and helping him during the summer they got to work training on his weaknesses and getting even better at his strengths,He also took some English courses to learn the language better as before coming to Canada he Barely knew any English except for the bare minimum he needed back in Poland this helped him a lot as it was much easier to communicate with his coaches and teammates understanding what they wanted him to do much more combined with his new training he was a lot better and became a top player for his team in his second season helping lead them to a deep playoff run but ultimately losing in the finals,That summer he and Jack went back to Poland while traveling around Europe meeting some of the top coaches and training with them to further his development while they put in a lot of work in Europe they also got up to trouble going out drinking and getting in some fights nothing major though this was something that Dekster had picked up from Jack who was probably more know for his off the ice reputation during his playing career than his actual playing although he hadn’t effected his career much after the summer he would play his last and final season before deciding to go the VHLM the training paid off as he was a top player in the league and won the cup while also being a finalist for MVP but not winning it,After the season he officially announced he would be looking to join the VHLM he got a decent amount of offers from teams but after mulling for days he decided the closest option and the one he felt best for him was to Join the Saskatoon Wild. He walked out of the doors of the airport feeling a cold breeze hit him he was excited and ready he knew he made the right decision coming here.

Hello @xsjack, welcome back to the VHL!

The Saskatoon Wild are looking to shake off a rotten ending to an otherwise excellent year in Season 77, and so far things are looking good for us. One area we could improve on is our forward depth, particularly at center, as we only have one true center on the roster. I really like what your build brings to the table as a two-way forward, especially with your focus on passing and defense. I would start you out centering our third line, and you would also be a fantastic fit on our penalty kill unit. With further development, I see no reason that you couldn't become a top six forward on this team!

Make sure you take the time to carefully review all of the offers you've received. Very rarely do you get to directly choose where you'll be playing in the VHL, so you'll want to take full advantage of this opportunity and choose the team that can offer you exactly what you want to get from this season.

If the Saskatoon Wild are the team that's best suited for you, you can join us by quoting this post and replying, "#SaskyBois."

Best of luck to you, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!

    - Thomas Landry

General Manager of the Saskatoon Wild

    2. Captain Keith Krestanovich has really struggled so far. Do you think this has affected the rest of the team?

    3. On the other side of the coin, our first round pick Jesper Norbeg is doing exceptionally well and is 5th in points league wide. Does this surprise you at all?

    4. Which team has the best logo, in your opinion, out of both the VHL and VHLM?

    Welcome to the league!

I am the AGM of the Yukon Rush and we are looking to add some depth to our contending roster. You would be getting third line minutes but on a team that has a chance to win it all. If you stay active and earn TPE then you could move up the lineup quickly! We are in need of a winger to jump up to our second line ASAP so this is a good opportunity for you!

I’m going to keep it short and simple, if you like what you hear and want to join one of the best locker rooms in the VHLM then quote this offer and type “let’s get it!” and we will get you onto our roster ASAP!

    Goodluck!
