The Life of Rubber Band
Childhood
Rubber Band was born to parents Marching Band, (father) and Wedding Band, (mother). He was an only child and grew up part of a wealthy family. His father is a big name lawyer who had his own firm and his mother is a doctor. They gave birth to Rubber Band while they were living in Shanghai, Japan. Ever since he was born his father had kept telling him tha the was going to be a lawyer growing up and that he was going to one day take over for him. He wanted him to inherit the family business one day when his father was ready to retire. His mother on the other hand kept saying that he could go on and be whatever he wanted to. He always had to sneak off out of the hosue when his father wasn't home. His mother didn't mind as long as he stayed out of trouble. If his father ever found out, he would be in a world of trouble. So Rubber and his mother both tried all they could to make sure that they kept it a secret. He would have to be taken to the school by his mother as he couldn't just walk the distance. They both came up with the lie that he is a part of a debate club and that he was going there everyday. Of course Marching was suspicious at times but he didn't act upon those suspicions.
Upbringing
Throughout his childhood, Rubber would have a had time keeping from his dad that he was playing hockey. Whenever he came home with a new injury, his father thought it was teh result of bullying. So Rubber had to make up excuses to his father even though he didn't believe them. One day Marching said that enough was enough and he decided that he was going to march down to the school and have a chat with the principal. Rubber knew this wasn't a good idea as his principal hadn't known that he was keeping hockey a secret. When Marching started talking about how he believed his son was being bullied, he said he wanted something to be done. The principal had no clue what he was talking about and started talking about how he was proud of Rubber and the hockey team. As soon as Marching heard about hockey and his son in the same sentance, he grew furious. He looked back at Rubber and said he was going to have a stern talking to and that he would never play hockey again. He took all of Rubber's hockey equipment and put it in his car and he drove down to the nearest Salvation Army. There he donated all the stuff and when he came home he told Rubber if he found out that he was playing hockey again that he would be in bigger trouble. Rubber was grounded for the rest of the school year and even the summer.
High School
When Rubber Band had reached high school, his father had told him that he would still not be partaking in hockey. He wanted him to keep his head in the books as he wanted him to go to college after graduating to become a lawyer. So for his first three years in high school he obeyed his fathers demands. His mother could see how much it was eating away at him over the years and when his senior year came around, she had it. She had told Marching that Rubber had enjoyed hockey. He was really good at it and he will be playing during his final year in high school. After that thing got out of control as both of his parents would end up getting divorced. Wedding managed to get custody of Rubber and he would still attend the same school. He got to visit his father on the weekends and he knew how his father was still upset about the hockey ordeal. During his senior year he played hockey and he played his heart out. It had been several years but it's like he hadn't lost a single step. He was the top player on the varsity team and he would lead the team to a state championship. Many of scouts were in attendance and even some VHLM scouts.
VHLM Career
Rubber Band has played in quite a few games so far in his career. Last season in the VHLM, it wasn't exactly his best but he did what he could to put up decent numbers on a decent Bern Royals team. This year he has a chance to be the leagues best goaltender on an even better Bratislava Watchmen team. Of course the favorite for that award currently is M.T. Power, but he hopes that he will be able to best him and show he has what it takes. He has been putting in more than respectable practice hours to get ready for the playoffs. So far this season he has been putting up better numbers outside of his save percentage. He doesn't face many shots so that is why his save percentage looks as bad as it does.
VHL Career Outlook
Rubber Band is hoping that a team will be willing to take a chance on him int he season 53 draft. He knows that his players agent doesn't have the best history with players and he hopes the GM's can look past that. He has been working as hard as the next prospect looking to get drafted and he hopes it has been showing. The season 53 VHL prospect rankings are coming up and he is looking towards jumping over some other prospects. He has also stated that he intends on testing free agency as often as he can. So hopefully he will be able to ry and chase as many rings as he can. If teams are in need of a goaltender, then his services will be available. While he won't command the highest contract each year, he hopes that the GM's will be able to field winning teams for him to be a part of.
