  6. ELASMOBRANCH FISH BIOGRAPHY Everyone knows that good stories start with a narrator, a deep and pleasant voice that persuades you to stay alert and persuades you to be carried by the plot. The response of the hand to the right is, however, in the right direction. It will take you by the hand to the places where the story unfolds and will insinuate the details so that your conscience knows what path to follow and your imagination flies free, but in the right direction. Unfortunately this is not a good story. It's not pretty. It's not nice. And maybe it should never be written. You still have time to turn around, turn your back on this story and see the sunlight shine, although I can not force you... It all started on a starry summer night, in Yallingup, a small town of barely a thousand people south of Perth, Australia. A couple walked hand in hand along the beach, smiling, fun and, since that night, in love. And also indifferent to the fate that awaited them. Ariel Laguna was the kind of person who made the day happier to the people who were lucky enough to be by her side. She arrived smiling, wherever he went, filling people with joy, and whatever happened, she left smiling, content as always, but taking with her that aura that she had and that made so happy those she left behind. She never knew the number of conversations of which she was the protagonist, and it is better that way. I will not describe her anymore. As I said, this is not one of those stories. Just imagine the most adorable and kind person you can. Maybe that's still not enough. For his part Finn Fish was a strong man, polite and helpful. He exercised in the mornings and read Marcus Aurelius' Meditations whenever he had some free time. He loved that book. Unlike Ariel, he was not enthusiastic about human contact, but he still knew how to treat people. He never confessed his greatest dream, for it was also his greatest secret. You got it, friend. I would give anything to be able to tell you that. Have you ever thought about how capricious fate can be? He is capable of giving you what you most want, but he is also capable of taking it from you. Ariel Laguna gave birth to a beautiful baby with flushed cheeks fruit of love, and died in childbirth. Finn Fish's life was never the same again. He tried to overcome the loss for his son, to make him happy, to teach him as his mother would have done, but his life had also ended in that hospital operating room. Despite everything Elasmobranch Fish grew up as a happy child. He could always count on his father for anything, anytime, and he seemed to be liked by people. It was seen from the first moment. He had the gift of his mother. The animals were comfortable with him and even the other babies laughed and waved their hands when El looked at them. All the grandmothers of Australia would have queued at the door of his house to pinch his cheeks, and he would have left them if it would have given them joy. As soon as he learned to speak, it was known that he had charisma. He was able to persuade other children, to take them to their land and at the same time make them believe that it was their idea. He was clever and rarely erred in his ideas, which further increased the confidence that his companions deposited in him. His father witnessed the development of his little boy with a smile. Yes, he smiled. On the outside he seemed happy but on the inside he hadn't feel anything for a long time. At night he would bring out a bottle of whiskey that he kept on the highest shelf in the pantry and would give a good account of it. Each morning it was replenished, often in different stores so that the neighbors would not suspect. It was a small town. One morning when El was 8 years old, the school principal went to class to find him and took him to his office. "Elasmobranch, dear." he said. "I have bad news. I'm afraid your father has had a traffic accident and ... he's dead. The police have found a letter for you in his car. Take it." He did not cry. His father had taught him that he should be a strong man and that he had to overcome adversity, whatever it was. He took the letter out of the envelope and mentally read: He did not cry. He never asked himself why that letter was in his father's car, and nobody ever mentioned it to him either. The funeral was that same afternoon. The whole town attended and the Reverend said some beautiful words. His father had never been a great believer, but it was a moving speech, so it did not matter to the young orphan. He did not cry. Several neighbors tried make him spend the night with them, since he had no more family, but refused in full, and when social services were presented he managed to convince them in some way to let him sleep once more at home. Once there he showered, put on his pajamas, lay on his father's bed... and cried. The next morning began an endless period of shelters, changes of school, orphanages... Elasmobranch went around the island several times in just 4 years. His behavior was always excellent, as well as his academic and athletic performance, but for some reason no place enjoyed the stability necessary to settle permanently, until at the tender age of 12 years a lovely couple of Adelaide took him out of an orphanage for last time. They gave him everything he needed and tried that he could take roots comfortably. Elasmobranch took advantage of those years to the fullest. He learned to swim, surf, dive, and command a boat. He loved water, it attracted him. He was able to beat several regional swimming records, which was very difficult in Australia, and he was named captain of the waterpolo team. At age of 16 he left Oceania for the first time to travel with his adoptive family to Montreal, Canada. He would never have imagined that he could be so cold. The sidewalks were frozen and he had to be very careful to not fall. In my opinion life knew that it had been too taught with that boy. It had taken everything from him, and despite that the boy was happy and eager to live, always improving, always learning ... I think that's why it gave him hockey. Elasmobranch Fish deserved good things. A demonstration of superhuman equilibrium on the frozen pavement of Montreal, in the eyes of the general manager of the Halifax 21st, was the way life had to tell the boy: "Go. Be happy. I can not beat you, and that's why you deserve it." Do you want to know what the future will bring? It does not matter. For the moment, enjoy.

  10. January 5th 2019 Ok, thank god no one is going to see this, never. Dear diary, this first week of training has been shameful. The first day at practice I was given the skates, and guess what.. they don't have fucking wheels. They are like a sharp knive that slides through the ice. I am supposed to share the ice with a crowd of flying knives that could cut me into pieces if I fall to the ground, and believe me, I live in the ground. Worst part about all this is that I had already bought a new set of bearings. Those were going to be my first upgrade. What do I need to mantain these? A grinder? The strange thing is that the coach is determined to give me minutes. The other day I played almost 30. I think I killed a guy, though. I didn't know "stick to the neck" is not allowed, but what was I supposed to do? He had a free path to the net. I was asked to sit for a while. I think that was so I could think what I had done or something, kinda like in shcool when you're sent to the corner to think.
  11. I confirm I know who Quick is, I confirm I was bamboozling Tact and I know who he is, and he recruited me. I also confirm I'm over 50 tpe too.
  12. I want to learn the nuances of the league and to understand the game better. But i'd really like to help my team to win the championship, that would be the ultimate goal. I'm learning fast and my level has already increased a lot. If McWolf has put me there is because he has seen something in me, and I will make every thing needed to convince him that he was right. There's a lot of things I still don't know about the league, but I'd say that our biggest advantage is commitment. Everyone seems on the same page, and altough our TPE levels don't place us between the favourites to win we firmly believe that we can do it. The team has some perceived disadvantages for our rivals, but I think we can overcome anything as long as we stay together and strong. I don't fear any team. At this stage I want to play every team, every day, and the most minutes possible. Everyone has welcommed me to the team. It's been a pleasure to share the lockerroom with this guys, especially with John Madden @Thranduil, who is teaching me all the aspects of the game. Champions. I'm sure the chemistry is there and will continue to be. As I said before every team member is motivated and ready work and make things work, and that makes for a good lockerroom. So what I really want the team to accomplish is the Championship. Some may say we are not good enough, but that won't stop us from trying. So far we are doing very good, and we will continue getting better each week.
  13. Madden questions, Christmas and New Year edition What did you get for Christmas? How did you celebrated Christmas Eve? Which is your resolution for the new year? Is it a pressure for you to have been chosen in the 6th position of the draft? What would you get your GM @McWolf for Christmas? Where do you think the Halifax 21st can get this season?

  15. I don't know who is this dude
  16. Actually he thinks he's learning curling. How the sport is called is cosmetic, anyway.
  17. Yes, first time in the VHL, mate. I'm motivated and ready to roll. I'm sure I can get 8-10 TPE weekly, if that's enough. Maybe a bit more. I don't really have any personal goal. I know nothing about hockey so I'll take this season to learn the mechanichs of the game and the stats and such things. Otawa and Vegas were pretty stacked and contenders. Back with the Reginald and Demetrius Sharkstrong in the EFL and with Malik in the SBA I won the championship in my first season after recruiting, and it was very cool, but the following seasons where always a bit hard because people wanted to match past results. I wanted something different now. I'd like a team poised to go up for once, instead of high expectations. I'd like to be a first teamer and play alongside Bolt Vanderhuge in the first line. I think that would be a good start. I still don't know much of my new teammates but I have some experience in other sim leagues. This means I also have some "confidence" in that I will be pushed to make a PT here or there. This pretty much guarantees that I'll be getting at least 6 and not going inactive. 6. I'd like to learn as much hockey as possible and make a good run with the team. I'd like to get as far as possible with the team and to get ready for the pros.
  18. ELASMOBRANCH FISH Age: 16 Place of Birth: Sugarloaf Bay, Australia Height: 6’8” Weight: 220 Lbs. Team: Halifax 21st Pos: Defender The young player born on the Spanish coast but raised on Australian beaches presents an interesting combination of talent, determination and coachability. In spite of its flagrant defects, the scout team is convinced that it can be an interesting project for the future and that it could become a great player if he is capable of maintaining concentration and is assigned an adequate team of coaches. STRENGTHS BALANCE Elasmobranch Fish may or may not be a mutant kid. It seems that his sense of balance is above average due to an evolution in several of his senses. The boy has a lateral line on each side of his body that allows him to detect pressure changes and electric fields, which allows him to react quickly to certain circumstances. He is also associated with a rare ocular condition that greatly improves his vision in low light conditions. We believe that the team could take advantage of this circumstance in its favor occasionally. DETERMINATION. The first reports about Fish highlight their incredible violence and persistence in the fight for the puck. His reputation as an insatiable and unscrupulous defender has earned him the nickname among the young people of "Requiem", for his resemblance to the French word for shark, "réquin" and the fact that rival players and fans associate him with death. LEARNING CAPACITY Fish has demonstrated ability to learn different disciplines during his growth, and is expected to continue on this path in his professional stage. He has successfully overcome any challenge he has faced, regardless of the time or effort required. We consider this a virtue of great importance that should not be underestimated. WEAKNESSES TIME ON THE ICE Coming from warm places the player has no experience in hockey or any other sport on ice. It can present an extremely serious problem if he is not able to quickly learn the mechanics of displacement. After today's training he adds 4 hours on the ice in all his life. KNOWLEDGE OF THE GAME Another serious obstacle when it comes to establishing himself in the team and as a professional player. Ice hockey is not a sport followed in his place of habitual residence and he has openly acknowledged to ignore its rules and basic elements. DOMAIN OF THE STICK Again the lack of experience presents a problem that in another player would be insurmountable. He has never taken a stick, having focused during his childhood on water sports. We rely on his natural talent to catch up with his teammates quickly. In summary this player represents a challenge due to its technical qualities, today very poor. Despite this we strongly consider that it is a risk that is worthwhile to run, since we can guess talent in him and he could learn very fast. We believe that a correct training regime by the team would make his talent flourish in a short time.
  19. Hi Elasmobranch, welcome to The Cold Truth. Is it true that you had never step in the ice before today? Hi, Victoria, happy to be here. Regarding your question, yes, it's true. I was born in Spain, but I have lived in Australia since I was 2 years old, until yestesterday. I had seen the snow before, of course, but not in these amounts. The bodies of water would not get frozen there either. And how have you ended with the Halifax if you had never skated before? To be completely honest wiht you, pure luck. I came on holidays with my family the other day and, walking through the city, I slid on the ice on the sidewalk. I made all kinds of movements to try to keep my balance and surprisingly I got it. @McWolf, who happened to be passing by saw everything and approached me to tell me that he had never seen such balance and that he was interested in adding me to his project. That he would teach me how to not completely suck. That I was a natural talent... My father still thinks he's a con man trying to get the money out of us. That's... an interesting story. We'll follow your adventure. Thanks for comming. The pleasure is mine
