Can’t say it was easy or comfortable but I’ve been here over 4 years, I figured that i’ve at least seen enough that I could be a voice and start the conversation. 
 
Think I’ve been searching for something worth saying since I stated with Venus, this just was it. Even if it helps one person it was worth it.

This is so true. If you search the internet, you can actually find a newspaper article written by a teacher In the 1800s or so who is complaining about his kids and their new fancy technology called “paper”

@TheFlash You made me tear up, you guys were amazing! I somehow  ended up  bringing the best of the VHLM together.  I still don't know how I continually  got the best LR full of guys.

Brick Wahl Dealing with Addiction
Sources In Calgary say they were shocked when they heard the news. Veteran goaltender Brick Wahl of the Calgary Wranglers has been struggling and his teammates say there is a clear explanation as to why his performance is lack lustre.
 
“He has an addiction” said feisty Wrangler’s back-up Fang Flashback @uphillmoss. “He obviously cares about the team, but I mean his priorities have changed.  He is a goalie who has been on a struggling team his whole career. I think that would warrant picking up a few bad habits, but I think this season it got out of control.”
 
When asked why that would be Fang replied “ Because we were projected to be better and Brick himself has never been in better shape. I think he looks at his stats and he is disappointed that after all that hype, nothing had changed. So he figured why not indulge himself… Once became twice and you know how it goes. At this point I am surprised the big guy can even tie his skates to  get on the ice, it is really sad to see him like this."
 
No one seems to be saying what Wahl's addiction is, so I got right to it and asked Flashback hoping he would give us all an answer. "I thought it would be obvious  the poor guy is addicted to Cinnamon  Buns @omgitshim, particularly the ones from Prague." 
 
I wonder after that answer if this all isn't an elaborate prank that the Wranglers' concocted to  deal with the boredom of losing. Let’s  hope these mischief makers get some wins soon!

To be fair I don't even know if we have morale turned on in this league. I can't imagine how I have never asked this question before. I do know that morale does severely affect player performance if it is turned on. Now there are 2 types of morale in this league, there is team morale and player morale. I have had chats on how severely morale does affect the game back when I ran a GM league back in the day and from the responses I received I decided for that league it was best to turn it off. In discussions I've found a lot of people saying things like this.
 
"I've maintained for a long time that Morale is the ugly duckling of the STHS experience. I believe it to be a potentially great feature, but as Foo alluded to in my experience it can have too much of an impact on the game-play even at low settings. And I think that is partly why many leagues choose not to activate it at all. To me that is a shame because I'm a firm believer in the potential of Morale being a tremendous aspect of the STHS experience as players and teams going through ups and downs over the course of a season adds another dimension for the managers to handle.

Another aspect of Morale that I'm not entirely happy with, and one I've expressed before, is the fact that it remains the only rating we're not able to control through external sources. The "Update Ratings" function where we can easily load a new set of ratings into the Sim from a csv-file doesn't cover the Morale rating. This means there's no flexibility at all with this rating. There are only two options when it comes to Morale; either not run it at all or run it the way the Sim runs it (which many people find too intrusive or powerful)."
 
Now lets take a look at morale as it sits right now in this league.

If you can't tell from this list, morale matters more than team overall. It is a small sample size though so I will need to revisit this at the end of the season. Prague doesn't make much sense to me but I predict they will fall in the standings as the season goes on. On the other hand Calgary which is my team has one of the better overall team averages but the Morale rating is keeping us from competing which is unfortunate. What do you think? Should the league turn off the morale setting and let the teams play on an equal field or should we leave it random so some teams get handicapped and create more randomness in the sim.

The Day Fang got Dropped …
 
Once upon a time in Calgary on a particularly blustery day Brick Wahl decided to go to the Wrangler arena to prepare for the new season. On his way out to his SUV he noticed his paper was sticking out of his mailbox. Not wanting it to get soggy from the snow he picked it up and on the front page in bold letters it read “Flashback Dropped from The Wranglers!”
 
Brick tossed the paper on his passenger seat and sped off down the street in the opposite direction of the Calgary stadium. At a stop light brick connected his phone to his car Bluetooth and commanded it to call Fang. The phone rang a few times before Fang picked up..
 
Fang: What the hell is wrong with you it is 7am and we don’t have practice!
 
Brick: Go look at your damn paper. I am coming by you house, put some god damn pants on It is to early for me to deal with full frontal Fang.
 
Fang: Screw you Wahl, I’m sleeping.
 
Brick: Just go look at your paper!
 
Fang: Why?
 
Brick: Because it says you got dropped from the Wranglers you D-bag!
 
Fang: What the hell!
 
Fang leaped out of bed and pulled on some clothes and ran to go see the paper.
 
Brick: Just Put your boots and coat on, we are going to See Tyler.
 
Brick ended the call in about 5 minutes he pulled into the driveway and rolled down his window. Fang cam bolting out of his large house, remembering to lock the door even though he was in a rush to see Brick.
 
Brick: Get in.
 
He gestured to his passenger seat.
 
Brick: Call Bash and let him know we are coming. There must be some mistake especially since you seem more shocked than I am.
 
Fang: What are you even doing up this early on an off day?
 
Brick: I am a starting goalie; I don’t get off days... But finding out that my best bud on the team got dropped, you know that was devastating. Which is why we are going to Bash, at least he can let us know why he dropped you.
 
Brick: Call Bash
 
With that command his phone dialed the Wranglers GM and played it over the sound system. The phone went to voice mail…how typical of Tyler to let his answering machine take a message. Brick left a passive aggressive message about how he could expect both him and fan for breakfast in 10 min or so.
 
Brick pulled into the driveway of the man he use to co-GM Calgary with. Half dragging Fang out of the SUV he marched up to the main door paper in hand. He knocked firmly on the door, when Tyler opened it Brick didn’t even wait for a hello. He shoved the paper in Bash’s face.
 
Brick: You know anything about this?
 
Tyler: How many times do I have to tell you that you are not a GM anymore?
 
Brick: Do you, or Do you not know about this?
 
He points at the headline
 
Tyler: What the hell is that?
 
Fang: I don’t know you tell me…
 
Tyler: Well I didn’t release you.
 
Brick: That is not what this press release says...
 
Fang: Does this mean I can sign with other teams?
 
Both Brick and Tyler snap their heads in shock at that comment.
 
Tyler: Hell no, I own your ass for 2 more seasons kid!
 
Brick: you want to leave me?
 
Fang laughed seeing the two older Wrangler’s reaction. He was going to store this away to tease them later.
 
Fang: well now that we have this kind of sorted out I want to go back to bed.
 
Brick: I am guessing Tyler will sort this out with the commies, how about I buy you breakfast and then you can come train with me?
 
Fang: How about we skip the training and go take a nap after breakfast?
 
Brick: This is why you aren’t the starter…
 
Fang: Ya but you love me
 
He smiled at Brick in a cheeky fashion
 
Brick: I hate you…
 
Fang no you don’t you looooooove me.
 
Fan continued to laugh and tease Brick about how much he cared about him on their way to eat breakfast. In the end Brick got the last laugh as he got
Fang to show up for practice and  ran circles around the rookie goaltender.
 
Brick: You should really get in shape kid or Bash will drop you.
 
Fang: Just shut it and be happy I show up at all..
 
Brick: Ya I know you looooooove me.
 
Brick smirked after his last comment. He though about how much had happened and it wasn’t even noon yet. Who ever said being a wrangler was dull?
