  4. D.C. DRAGONS PRESS CONFERENCE End of the season is closing in! Answer 3 for 1 TPE, Answer 6 for 2 1. With the season coming to an end and seeing some great improvement on ice - how do you feel about our season as of right now? 2. Do you believe making a playoffs should be our goal a this point with few games left? 3. GM Frostbeard has come out with a statement that he feels a lottery pick would be more important for our squad then making playoffs - your thoughts on that matter? 4. There have been rumours that with the TDL trades, D.C. Dragons are preparing to become buying this off-season, do you think it is a good sign? 5. We have many great players in our prospect system that are yet to join our squad - how do you rate the current prospect depth of our team knowing we have many picks this upcoming draft? 6. Out of all the players on the team, which one is the easiest to work with in practice?
  5. Reflecting on my time in VHL "Closing in to 5 years here..." It is quite a thing to think about the fact that in February I will be here for 5 years. Even to my youthful and undeveloped mind it feels like a considerable amount of time. It has had profound influence to me, being here, seeing a lot of amazing people that all deserve high praise of being amazing and unique individuals. Today, I want to reflect on some important moments of my time here, that I feel shaped my run here and hopeful will keep me going for the next 16 years of VHL existance (I want to at least get to be here for the half of the time this league exists). I am sure that no one really cares about these sort of thoughts so I am not going to tag anyone here, if you read it - enjoy So where do I start... Joining the league When I joined VHL, I had a beautiful opportunity to join Philadelphia Reapers under BladeMaiden as team's GM. It was incredibly fun, sure, looking back at it and if you care you can even find some of those problems that I have had in a post some time ago, there were significant problems, but it was my experience and valuable lesson of having an open mind that gives you a chance to be and have a variety of opinions around. I also need to add that my run as a GM would not have been possible without my time in Philly as I was heavily inspired by Blade and it gave me that push to go and apply for Houston Bulls GM spot. Houston Bulls I have a deep and strong feelings about Houston. A beautiful and majestic team that I will hold dear as long as I am around. I remember the time I had the pleasure taking over GMing and understanding that I have a chance to help players on their way to VHL. Sadly, out of my VHLM players, ones that I had under my wing, not many have remained but there are certain names that I remember very fondly as people of amazing personality - two of those that I felt incredibly honoured to have on my squad there: Erik Summers and Elmebeck. Two amazing individuals. Erik Summers left the league due to not enough time and had a beautiful career with Helsinki Titans while Elmebeck, well, I don't think I want or should go into more details than just say - missing you buddy dearly. Overall, during this time I had my highs and lows, fun situations and not so fun. Did get that 1st Cup for Houston Bulls in S68 though. VSN Bana and I took over VSN and managed to bring it to the level it is right now, even if I don't agree with everything going on and even though I have had an urge to go and join as a writer I just know that for me it would be tough as I once was VSN Editor-in-chief, had my own ways and I am not sure I could be a subbordinate. That said - Alex is doing great! A lot of things and people I remember extremely fondly from that time - Zetterberg and Motzaburger, my amazing Graphics duo, Doomsday and Hatter, writers that VSN never really deserved. McWolf's strong support during the creation process. Matt_O, Selsby and D_A that brought us weekly or bi-weekly content that was so amazing I didn't even need to really edit it. It was just that good. So incredibly happy. Sure, I am fully aware I wasn't the greatest lead in VSN and you could ask Doomsy or Hatter about it, I never really had that push to go and talk about increasing pay for VSN's hard work, I tried but didn't have enough power to do so. Sadly, wasn't my proudest time there but in the end - we did write, we did put out the high quality content we had, incredibly proud of our work. Malmo Nighthawks Even though VSN overlaps between Bulls and Malmo, I think that after becoming Malmo GM, I felt like my time in VSN was slowly coming to an end. It was a great experience, I loved my time there but I was incredibly dedicated to my Malmo squad and put all my time and effort into bringing my beautiful team that I took over from a legendary GM Advantage a Continental cup. Was it a tough run to do so? Yes, I made some mistakes, had fairly weak trading knowledge and was too clingy to my players but I always had that mindset in mind that "If we win with this crew, it would be special". Which players I am talking about? Wakaro, Sheilds, Dayne, Hylands, Kamenov, Jungkok, Dickson, Gyrfalcon, Tretiak and Adrienne. It was a squad of beautiful character and vision, I still adore every single member and that time did create some long lasting friendships - I am looking at you Z, Snu and of course Green. Heck, I still regret that I decided to go and give up my VHL GM spot with Malmo because of "Oh, I feel like my time for VHL will go down in the next 3 months and I want the team to have a super active GM so... Maybe... I should just step down". It did make me happy that Hylands took over Malmo, an incredibly happy moment for me. S75 Continental cup Champions - 2nd team I take over, 2nd time I get that 1st Franchise cup. Wonderful memories and lovely people. Leaving, regretting and Bratislava Watchmen I already said that my time in Malmo was cut short because of my decision to step down, at first it felt good because it seemed to be the right thing to do, now it feels like I could still be Malmo GM. That said, my time away from GMing and having a chance to enjoy being just a member with a player was something I needed. I needed to set my mind straight on how I want to procede. Yes, I did think about quitting but then again, I didn't want to lose my connections with amazing people and I still enjoyed VHL as a game. I started once again to apply for GM spots and I saw others become GMs before and even though I think I should have felt some anger or frustration but I didn't - I was happy for everyone getting their opportunities. And then my chance was here. VHLE. A new league that will need 6 GMs to lead teams. At first I felt that it won't be something I will enjoy, it felt like a project that will take too much away from me - building something absolutely from scratch. I was encouraged, I was selected and there I was, leading Bratislava Watchmen, heck, I can even embrace Beardislava now. It was a breath of fresh air - having a chance to meet people like Shindigs and Leadro, my two amazing AGMs that have spoiled me absolutely. Metting GMs that I either reconnected with or created a strong bond, yes, I am speaking about my friend IR and of course Thadius. Two amazing, beautiful and incredibly generous people. Of course, as a GM I was ecstatic to win Renaissance cup and get that sweet Triple (VHLM, VHLE and VHL as GM, also all of those are 1st Franchise cups in those leagues). It was a great time.. D.C. Dragons and future Not much to write here than to say that I am back in VHL, happy, proud and going through the rebuild. I am hopeful we can build a team that can sustain itself through many seasons of competitiveness and hopefully I can also bring D.C. their second cup. It will be incredibly magical if we can do it with our current roster that has amazing people like Keegan, Dusty, Bek, Twists, Emidas, Futch and DA. Even players that I had to trade, Jason and Ctots, you are amazing. Thank you. All that said I am excited about the future and I am sure that my current player Grimgor will have a great career - maybe not as great as the one of Sirdsvaldis Miglasķēms, but I am willing to take less with pride. Some people I feel I need to mention.... There are so many names, but to pull out a few: Bana - I am not going to say anything else then just thank you, you are great in every way possible. IR - you deserve far more praise then you get. Thad - I am yet to send you that care package, I know. Spartan - a person of amazing intelligence. Sam - bees are still sick but doing better. Green - hope you are excited about Dune Part 2. Shindigs - come back you dirty dog. Moon - you are wonderful individual. Daniel Janser - you are a beauty. Leadro - an incredibly passion and dedication. Snu - get working on your swing my boy. I could make this list longer but at this point, I think I have written enough. It is a bit of my journey here, not too much but at least this time I am writting about good things not the bad that I am somewhat known for. Thanks to those who decided to read this.
  6. Damn good showing VHL - let's do another 16...
  7. Always have to do it once for the maximum deterrence. Also - happy the amazing 16th Birthday VHL, we are amazing!
  8. Name: Grimgor Ironhide Age: 50 Birthday: Unknown Hometown: Red eye mountain Height: 6'7'' (204cm) Weight: 250lbs (114kg) Position: Left Wing Black orc warlord has no real skill when it comes to hockey. There are only 3 things that Grimgor knows - he is great at killing and ruling. However, his new goal to become DA GREAT ONE in VHL made him learn new things and he still needs to develop them. He learned how to skate in the span of 3 days while drinking, eating and working on his balance. It took him a bit of time to understand that it is not about killing the opposite team but it is more about winning the game and figuring out how to be out-play the opponent. When it comes to his skills - Gimgor is clearly shaping himself into a strong Power forward that is not worried about laying his body on the line, that is willing to take on anyone and have a wickedly great shot and ability to score from any angle. His skating needs work and will need to be developed as any other skill however the big issue right now for any team looking at picking him up, Grimgor is not going to be the most loyal player. Even he himself has said 'I go where we win not be some stinky gits' so expect him to go to Free Agency often and be more of a hired gun and always try to be Da Alpha Orc. His time in VHLM even though short protrayed him as somewhat of a passing forward that will surely change as the time goes by. Looking at the future of his path in VHLM/VHLE, Grimgor is yet to decide where he wants to spend his time in. For him, it is important to be in the core of all action - that said, he is not so interested in VHLE or VHLM, to him VHL is the goal. He himself has told media that a long and strong career is what awaits him, that there is not a single player worthy of his name. It might seem a bit aggressive from a unknown player with no real hockey experience, however determination is there and if he managed to put that to work, his skill cap is high. The ceiling of his level of play is tough to determine - clearly Grimgor has some skills and he surely has body to lay on the line however, it all depends if there will be a spot for him to shine in. For his sort of player style, I expect him to sometimes choose middle of the pack teams to play with so he is the main scorer, the main player the game revolves around.
  9. Grimgor Ironhide "He is truly DA BEST" It was just before the end times when Grimgor Ironhide had a vision that he interpreted as "I eat some delicious mushrooms and now I see this, I am clearly da best!". Vision was portraying grimgor wearing an armor made of fabric, helmet with a glass shield in front of his eyes and a weapon that looked like a crooked halberd, there were some sounds in the distance that felt odd and out of place, a horn so loud and piercing that signaled something, unsure if good or bad. It was the next day when Grimgor opened his eyes and saw a weird glimmer in the corner of his tent, at first he started laughing and felt like it is a big prank, he even looked excited to see what it is, however, almost immediately when he stood up there was a realisation - it is some sort of magic, powerful, mysterious and yet so dark. 'I'm gonna stomp 'em to dust!' Grimgor screamed that the whole orc camp rattled, his two black orc big bosses rushed in and as they were passing the corner where the magic was felt, they stopped, almost if they would have been frozen in time. Grimgor, without any fear in the heart, decided to pick up his mighty Gitsnik and swung as hard as he could, when the blade hit the brightest stop of magical energy wave of light passed through Girmgor and he lost all of vision, sense of time and place, he became a ghost, a phantom travelling between truth and lies, between night and day, between reality and some other reality, not known to him and yet he felt like it was calling to him, the horn was heard once again, it was loud and magical, it was glorious and frightening and yet soothing. He focused, he knew it is time to try to reach that other reality, to see what it is and what it brings and so he did. Grimgor woke up in a bed of snow, in a place where everything felt wrong and the air felt like it was crushing his lungs. He had woken up on Heard island, an uninhabited speck of land in the south of Indian ocean, there were no trees, animals or any intelligent life as far as your eyes could see. For Grimgor it was a chance to explore and no longer feel like there is a war around, however even then when he felt at his safest he wouldn't part ways with Gitsnik, his mighty double bladed axe which translates to "Foe-killer". After hours or wandering and trying to find food Grimgor started to feel lost, the initial excitement had passed and there was gaping hole that grew larger and larger with every second, a hole of self-fullfilment that previously he had no issues filling - after all, he is the mighty Grimgor Ironhide, Da Alpha Orc, Green Slaughterer and Boss of the east. After few days on the island he felt exhausted, he had eaten some bugs and had managed to hunt an elephant seal on the coastline that he enjoyed raw. With no sleep during this time, while walking slowly on the coastline he collapsed, his head hit a sharp rock and he was knocked out. Grimgor woke up 2 days later on a fishing vessel "Harpoon" and the captain Elliot Payne was there to greet him. 'Well, how did you end up there mate? You look kinda weird but I have seen people from all over this world so you are definately not the most unique pearl in the sea.' Captain laughed and told Grimgor that there is a fish stew made for their crew and that he can have as much as he wants. To this point, Grimgor had not said a word, he sat in silence, so weirdly out of character for him that it almost felt like he had swolled his whole tongue. Finally, after eating a delcious bowl, well, three bowls of stew, Grimgor introduced himself 'I am da great one, greatest orc warlord, once and future git!'. Everybody sat in silence not really knowing how to respond, only the engineer of the boat, Cal Folden, decided to speak and make a joke. Cal stood up, started laughing and said 'Well that is one hell of a joke, everybody knows that the only great one is Scotty Campbell'. Grimgor had never heard that name, nor seen a ship like this, for him all of this felt like a joke is being played on him, he had not seen all this technology even in the skaven and dwarven dungeons. To him all of this felt untamed. However Grimgor saw Cal taking out a small shiny piece of metal out of his pocket, with an apple on the back, Cal opened a picture of Scotty Campbell and smiling said 'Do you really think you are the great one?'. It was at that moment that the vision Grimgor had seen just before entering this realm, finally made sense to the black orc warlord, he saw the weapon, he saw the armor and the glass shield, it finally made sense to him. Gimgor understood that there is a new calling for him, to go and be new Great one. To be DA GREAT ONE here in this reality. Another 5 days of journey on sea and "Harpoon" had reached port. For Grimgor this was the time to find his way towards achieving his goal. In a very odd fashion, Grimgor even thanked ship captain and the crew for saving him. And so began his journey to become the new Scotty Campbell, Da Great one, Da Best of VHL.
  10. Dom, just for you - this week I will do a WH3 Twitch stream and play Imrik.
  11. Nope, that is how it started for me - playing Warhammer 1 and then WH2 and WH3, I did however also read quite a few books because of the intrigueing stories!
  12. Don't worry, Henri was... Well... He really liked to follow a certain gal on her adventures and look strong against some very dry men and some lizard frends.

  19. I had 3 choices: 1. Grimgor Ironhide 2. Zhatan the Black 3. Eltharion the Grim Grimgor is the most badass here so....
  20. 1. What team has surprised you the most this season? LA Stars - we are playing amazingly average with the roster that should easy be Top 4 or maybe even Top 3 in the whole league. It is just mindblowing how much we all are slacking on ice. 2. What do you wish you knew before this season started? That my player will struggle to win games for his team - with Sirdsvaldis I kinda expected to have a pretty mediocre season as we have some amazing players like Cooke and Nezuko on board but what is happening right now is just sad - I am doing great individually but as a team we are just not there. 3. What type of forward fo you value most? I have always valued the physical forward, your average Power Forward who just lays his body on the line and wins every encounter. That is the forward you need to go deep in playoffs. 4. What is the most underrated stat in the VHL? All defence strat - have never used it but is sounds like something a highly defensive team could use to win some crucial games! 5. Have you or would you ever eat raw meat? Yes. Maybe. I love meat and I am usually open to trying things out even if they seem to me that they are a bit scetchy. 6. Do you think traveling is important in life? I think experiencing new things and broadening your mind is really where it is at. Traveling sure helps with that.
