John Frostbeard and Philadelphia Reapers 1# Fitting in Ladies and gentlemen, this is John’s experience of VHLM and how easy it is to fit in an Expansion team. As we all already know, for S65 there are 2 new teams joining VHLM – Philadelphia Reapers and Houston Bulls, so showing how to try fit in something that building up right there and now is important as a lot of young guns will be in the same situation in future. Would like to point out, that coming across Atlantic and jumping in something you haven’t experienced previously is on one side exciting and on the other terrifying too. Coming over to a city like Philadelphia can be a struggle on its own, but for a guy, who is not so strong in other languages that Latvian can really be stressful. My first suggestion to anyone here, who is facing similar situation is to BE INVOLVED. Don’t sit back and hope for the best, talk to people, enjoy your time – if you have questions – ask them and try not to be super shy as you will face not only lots of media attention in future years, but you will find yourself as an outsider in this league. It is fine, if you can cope with that for many seasons, but, the best option is to allow your GM, your team leaders to be there for you and help you. Second suggestion comes with a bit of backstory. When it comes down to coming here to VHL and VHLM, people might have told you how everything is and how everything works from their own experience, but that can be misleading, try to figure out what you really want to achieve with your career – do you want to be a solid role player that “gets the job done” or you want to be future HoF Superstar. This can be taken to Frostbeard’s experience, when he was deciding what league might be the best for him – one of his childhood friends was pushing an idea that he has to go to VHL and VHLM as there is no other option, he was told that this league will instantly make you a superstar that will be known everywhere, but in reality – you have to figure out your path to greatness yourself and even though, some experienced teammates can help you along the way – it is your path and yours alone. Third suggestion is quite simple – follow your gut. If you feel you are doing something right – DO IT! Just enjoy your career as it doesn’t last forever and remember that even though this is your job, this is a game you can enjoy too! Personally, as a foreigner here is Philadelphia, I would personally like to thank my super amazing GM BladeMaiden, she has helped me so much with providing courage and being there for everyone! And to all amazing and supportive teammates and team personnel. John wishes everyone the best of time this season and hopefully we all can enjoy our time on ice against each other! Good luck and I hope you will not have to play against Reapers!

1) The draft is over, the signings have settled down, and the VHLM is just about ready to get things started. Who do you think is the favorite, going into this season? 2) With teams filling up this quickly, further expansion of the VHLM might be a potential talking point. Where would you put another minors team? 3) The offseason's ending- what's your player's plan to get back in shape for game 1? 4) Do you/your player have any preseason superstitions to help boost their performance? 5) Now that you've had time to get used to your team, who's been your favorite teammate thus far? 6) If the commissioners/GMs could do one thing to make your VHLM experience more fun, what would it be? 1 - Well, there are surely quite a few amazing teams in VHLM this season and quite frankly I don't think we can arrange them from the best to worst. For me personally, I would look out from those Expansion teams as they are wicked and can pack a punch even tho they are new. 2 - League is in need to conquer more of the US West coast market and probably somewhere in Southern USA too - it is important that we are able to have fans everywhere! 3 - Beer and crackers? I mean, I am always in shape, I am Latvian after all - have you ever seen a "not-in-shape" Latvian? 4 - Yup, gotta eat loads of hotdogs and cookies as that is the only way how I can boost my morale. 5 - Well, this is like hitting a person in a groin, I can't really answer that without getting a black eye in the next practice.. That was a joke of course.. 6 - To be honest, I am not sure, as I am a true latecomer in VHLM, I feel like I would need at least an extra 3 weeks to really understand what is up and what changes could be made there.

An amazing and breathtaking story of a young lad deep in Ukraine following his dreams to become one of VHL's greatest! Struggles of finding his place in the world and then moving to something completely different and exciting. Going to VHLM at such a young age and being away from his family for so long surely was tough! Believing in his own abilities and showing skills that elevate Revchenko as a player! 8/10 Great respect to a player who needed to move to the other side of the world to follow his dreams!
-
An amazing story of a player who is willing to sacrifice everything for the sake of being an all time great! Success is in his blood and so we can see that in his comparisons with other amazingly talented players! It can be clearly seen that his family had a lot to do with raising him up "right way". 8/10 Truly interesting and thought through story of a young man striving for greatness!
-
An amazing representation of someone who is striving to be the best and is able to push himself to the next level! Believing in your ability to rack up tons of goals next season and show doubters that he is the real deal! 9/10 Great story about a young lad trying to do everything he can to excel at the game he loves and holds the most dear.

FrostBeard replied to nethi99's topic in Archived Media Spots
This has quite a big chance to change as lot's of players on those teams are doing all they can to get ready for the next season - surely overlooking Ottawa team. All in all, currently, understandable analysis of teams and surely correct choice for Top 3 teams in VHLM. 8/10 Top 3 teams in VHLM - great and logical choices for leading pack! 4/10 Last 3 teams in VHLM - can be subject to change as progress of their young players is in the hands of themselves! -

Quite an interesting step-up you have there, I am not sure though about chemistry of players, but I believe in your success! 8/10 - Great job at providing info and a bit of insight of how your team works! 6/10 - Brothers on the same line? -
Definitely interesting choice. It does seem a bit reckless to come here and post this info on media BEFORE you have informed your team about it. 8/10 Amazing writing and showing a great personality. 2/10 Life choices.

Yup, born and raised and living right now -
Name: John Frostbeard Nationality: Latvia Age: 19 Weight: 220 lbs Height: 6 feet 4 Inches Position: RW WHLM team: Pennsylvania Reapers John has shown great potential to be 20 goal scorer, 60 assist man on any team. His professional hockey career started when he was 17, just before turning to 18, that was when local Latvian Hockey championship team "Kurbads" offered him a tryout contract with them. As he joined mid season he didn't have a chance to play all 28 games in a season, but he managed to play 14 games that season and got 4 goals and 8 assists in that stretch. During his next season he played all 28 games, but his production slipped as he was moved to play on 4th line because of his height and weight that allowed him to take up a role of Power Forward and be more aggressive. Strenghts 1. Strong passing ability. Because of an amazing hand-eye coordination, John Frostbeard is able to provide his teammates with strong and precise passes. J.Frostbeard is not selfish, so you have to expect that his goal-scoring will suffer a bit. 2. 200ft game. John Frosbeard is active on defence and on offence. Because of his fairly good skating ability, John is able to move around the ice quickly. Defensively, John's greatest strength is his ability to use his body to gain pucks and make opposing players get turnovers. Offensively, his greatest strength is his passing ability and high IQ to come with it as that provides john with a possibility to be aggressive but dependable player. 3. Size. As John Frostbeard is 6.4 and 220, he can use his body well and be aggressive towards other players that are smaller and lighter. He can get at least 1 to 2 hits a game easily. Weaknesses 1. Fighting. He is a terrible fighter because he never had to fight in Latvian hockey as he was just a rookie there. Considering that many teams will be carrying aggressive players, he should learn how to do it, but not model his game around that. 2. Scoring. Because of his well known unselfish play style, he is not an amazing, grade A+ scorer that you might expect him when seeing how hard is his slap shot. Unfortunately, his wrist shot is terrible and he is avoiding it as much as he can. 3. Penalty shot. He is extremely weak 1 on 1 player and quite a weak player on shootouts. His Latvian hockey coach implied that :"John Frostbeard has all the potential in the world to be an amazing all around player, but for right now, he should stay away from 1 on 1 situations." John Frostbeard is quite similar to Eric Parker (New York Americans) , one of the leading players of VHL in season 64. Because of this everyone has to expect that he is gonna be a strong competitor. His style of play is a bit more aggressive and focused on using his body more. John should easily fit any VHLM teams top 6 and be one of the leading players in points after his first season in league.

Biography of John Frostbeard Early life of John Frostbeard, "The Beginning" John Frostbeard is a native Latvian, that was born in a beautiful countryside of Latvia, in a region called Sēlija, near the border of Lithuania. He was born into a family of farmers that were focusing their strengths into building up their business and making in a success. His early life was quite full of adventures as he spent most time outdoors with his friends and family. He was a kid his parents could be proud of as he never lied to them or broke any of the family rules, though his family really didn’t put any chains on what young John could or couldn’t do. He spent lots of evenings with his dad either fishing or watching something interesting on TV. His family always were quite big on almost any sport that you could watch. His dads favorite was basketball, his moms always was hockey. Start of school, "Helping as much as he could" John spent loads of time with his grandparents as their home was quite a lot closer to his primary school than his parents farm. He usually did stay with grandparents through weekdays and in weekends went back to help his family in farm. John never had any regrets of area where he was living or anything, he was truly grateful of everything his mother and father did for him. Next big step, "Moving away from his family" John Frostbeard very supportive for quite a long time, but as he was living in an area were there was only 9 grade school, after reaching the age of 15, he had to start looking for a secondary school. His family was very supportive and thought that having an education should always be a high priority for anyone, no matter what. John always had plans of returning to his home town, as he really didn’t think that there were any other options. Excitement and food, "Our favorite customer" First year of secondary school went by relatively quickly and soon it was the summer when he joyfully returned home to help his parents. He spent whole summer thinking what is really his calling in life and while browsing his school’s webpage, he saw a just posted message about after-class activities that will be offered to second year students at his school. And so there it was, a beautiful message saying that they have finally completed their sports facility that now will include a beautiful ice rink. As a child John always dreamed about learning to skate so he went to his mother and father with this brilliant idea of trying out skating next semester and something to fill up his time. Second year came with a huge excitement for John and he had not only an opportunity to learn to skate but to go back to his classmates as all them were quite good friends and texted each other throughout all summer. His marks in all his classes were great and he was one of the top students and as well as happy customer in cafeteria. This was the first time when he was gaining weight in all his life as he went from 6 feet, 150 lbs (1m82cm, 68kg) to 6 feet, 230 lbs (1m82cm, 104kg). This put him on the spot as he understood that he needs to push himself to do more sports and maybe even exercise more often. That semester he switched from going to ice rink 2 times a week, to everyday and that helped him to become an amazing skater. His life continued like for till 2nd semester came around and he had a chance to meet his school hockey basics teacher/coach. He praised the skating skill of John’s quite a lot and pushed him to try new and more things on ice like making tight turns and full stops, he even had a lesson on how to hit boards, when full stop is not possible. To be or not to be, "I want to be something more than..." As he did have quite a close relationship with most his teachers and mentors, he listened to all advice he could and so, when he was at the end of 2nd semester, grade 10, his hockey mentor asked him if John would be interested in trying out playing hockey with few local guys, oh whom John already quite a few. He agreed to try it out and so he informed his family of his decision and everyone was extremely supportive. John’s mentor together with John went to local town to be basic hockey equipment and so he started to train and became a better and better every week. Unfortunately, his excitement and dedication to hockey stopped when he received a call from his mother that his dad was involved in a horrible car crash that left John’s paralyzed in his left leg. That incident pushed his family into quite a few hard decisions as now that John was studying and his dad unable to really perform any work around the farm, family had to decide whether they keep the farm and John comes home or they sell it and move into village near their grandparents were mom was offered a job as a schools gardener. As his family was strongly supportive of an idea that a child must get an education, they agreed to selling their farm. This whole situation put John into a position were he always felt necessary to give back to his family after they made such a contribution to John’s future. After John’s family sold their farm, John decided that he will fully focus on becoming a household name in hockey in his home country of Latvia where such players as Sandis Ozoliņš, Kārlis Skrastiņš, Sergejs Žoltoks, Artūrs Irbe, Helmuts Balders and many more, have showed that they are capable to be players of highest quality. It was not only path John decided to take as he promised his family that even though we will pursue a career in hockey, he will put a huge effort into getting B.A. in Social sciences, Political science and so, even right now, after signing his first contract in VHLM, he is still studying in Pennsylvania State University to get his B.A. in Political science. Support of everyone, "People I love..." John’s Mother and Father, as well as his 4 grandparents and huge fans and supporters of him and so is his small hometown and school.

Philadelphia Reapers Press Conference
FrostBeard replied to BladeMaiden's topic in Team Press Conferences
1.) What image do you see our team giving off considering we are called the Reapers? 2.) How does your player fir onto the team? 3.) what are your hope and goals now that you are here? 4.) Are you happy to be drafted to this team? 5.) Position and number 6.) would you like to be a Captain on an Assistant Captain? Why? 7.)Something funny I should know about you as a player as your new GM. 8.) how do you think we will finish in Season 65? 1 ) Wait, aren't we called Teddybears? But seriously, simple answer - we brake bones and send them to the hell called Doctor's office. 2 ) Well, I am 6.4 guy, so I think that means I can knock some stuff up and be as strong leader as I can, plus, I can score (Hopefully) 3 ) I want to help and bring our team to the promised land! 4 ) Well, Philly is known for a lot of things in hockey, so the least I can hope for is that our goalie will actually perform. But again, jokes aside, proud and honored for a given opportunity. 5 ) RW, 77 6 ) Well, even tho I am young and just starting off, I do believe I can provide for my team and have that leadership quality, maybe to Captain yet, but an assistant - for sure! 7 ) I have a pregame ritual that asks for everyone to give me a tribute of 3 hotdogs that has to be dressed in mayo and red onions.. If I don't get that, I usually fall asleep mid-2nd period. 8 ) Hoping for the best. -
