I'm sure it was. But that just happened to coincide with when i joined, so all I've ever known is the active shl. I never experienced active Vhl. It was more active when I joined but activity has declined in the year I've been here. And I don't really see what that has to do with what I said, fact is there's not much activity here outside discussions where the same 10 people are always talking. At least there its the same 20-30 people.

The blue team pushed a guy to be the Gm and than says to me that they aren't responsible for his actions? That guy was trusted enough to be part of the BoG and the head of the recruitement crew but not enough to be a GM? What a strange scenario

If we absolutely can't get anything done about the trade, then at the very least we should demand that we get Kowalski and Ruutu back, paying whatever % it would be for where we are at in the season. If the league wants to do what is "best for the league" then they won't let the Kowalski+Ruutu for a 3rd trade stand.

Also, what I think should be brought up if it hasn't already is that I had a player option after S43. I did not opt out because a deal with Stockholm was arranged and because I didn't want to leave jala with nothing for me. I mean, just talked to Molholt and I most likely will be traded somewhere. Just frustrating how this all turned out and how I really had little value in that trade because I could have left the team outright.

An unofficial deal that would have sent defenseman Jerrick Poole to the Stockholm Vikings has, for all intents and purposes, fallen through. While there is talk that league officials are the ones who ultimately shot the deal down, one has to wonder how this came about in the first place. And was the proposed deal between the Vikings and Legion really all that bad in the first place?

The answer would be no. On the surface, it would be easy to say that Toronto got fleeced. That they could have received a much better deal for Stokes, Rathod Jr., and, especially, Poole. But what is missing here is why this trade even happened in the first place. Poole had been in discussions with Stockholm GM boubabi back when he tested free agency at the end of Season 42. Opting to return to Toronto after they benefited from a massive Helsinki talent dump, the Legion went on to have a successful regular season before succumbing to the surprise champion Seattle Bears. The length of this deal was two years. Which included a player option for the second year.

So now we're looking at the off-season before Season 44. Edgar had announced his plans to step down as GM. I had a player option and was free to just get up and leave Toronto with the imminent rebuild. But after talking to both Stockholm and Toronto about my position, a deal was formed that seemed to be a compromise for all three parties. Toronto would receive something instead of losing me to free agency. I would be able to leave Toronto on amicable terms, knowing I did what I could to lessen the blow. And Stockholm was able to shed some salary as they geared up for a cup run. A win-win-win situation. Or so I thought.

And we lose a great, productive member in jala because of this. Maybe someone can answer this better but edgar asked in the Toronto LR who was interested in taking over. jala was not one of them. He was then approached because edgar's choice was apparently not good enough. Whoever thought having to approach someone who initially did not have interest in a GM position was a good idea when there were, I'm sure, plenty of qualified and interest members made a poor decision.

And then we get to the trade. I had a player option. I was leaving if a deal with Stockholm wasn't figured out. I wanted to go to Stockholm but wanted to help Toronto's rebuild out at least a little bit. So before you go roasting him yet again on this deal, learn more about the circumstances.

That being said, it was a shitty thing for jala to just get up and leave in the middle of the season. But as much as I was surprised that he didn't show an initial interest in GMing, I was more surprised when he was approached and named GM after choosing not to pursue it. I don't really know what else happened but knowing jala a bit, I highly doubt he just left without a good reason. Maybe chose a poor way to leave, sure, but not simply because he lost interest, I'd imagine.

And I have to applaud this league for running a great smear campaign on the SHL. Kept me away for almost a year. Now I am questioning whether I'll recreate when I'm done with Poole.

How does Toronto justify it? Because I was going to exercise my player option and leave them with no return for me if they didn't figure out a deal with Stockholm, essentially. The decision to not opt out of my contract was one that I saw helped both Toronto and Stockholm so I decided I could stick around a bit longer on a shitty inactive team to help out a guy I'd spent my entire time in the VHL with and to put myself in a better chance to win a cup. I think this point is being lost here. I believe I told Mike (who should have been hired since he wanted the job) and jala this, possibly in a less threatening way haha. But regardless, the deal isn't as clear cut as how you put it.

So In the section you can post anytime:

    - Upsets in the sim happen (like Seattle beating Cologne lol)
    - Announce Trades
    - Announce neat Media Releases (like Sterling's 40 in 40 article or HOF articles)
    - Away thread news, like Jardy leaving us again.
    - The Return of old members, or the recruitment of new ones
    - Bans
    - When a team clinch a playoff berth or title
    - When the VHLSC is released

etcetetc. This would keep it fresh for you and keep everyone informed if they want to be.

Five games against Cologne after Game 250. So we actually don't play them again until we've got our final roster.

Well, days go by and the drive getting there to and from the desk to put out something about something well in general about anything just seems like more work than reward for what it is. Each day I come to the desk thinking of writing something for the ever small crowd who actually gives a damn about the weirdness of my life the harder it is to pick up a pen and just write anything.

This week as I return back to work and real life mixes in with the virtual things just begin to go blah and turn into a blank and it just turns into a burden. Like a homework assignment. Ya know, when the fun of writing a piece whether for self promotion to get a conversation going or to just earn your weekly points just to hold off. It once again is beginning to feel like homework. It brings questions of if I wanted a homework assignment wouldn't I just go back to school? It's almost like it, having everything graded with a fine tooth comb just like my teachers would do. I hated writing the big essays and found ways to work the page counts when I was in school. Give me fun and interaction over what feels like homework everyday of the week.

I'm a 21 year old dude (gorlab found this out yesterday ) going into my final year studying engineering. Doing an internship this summer and living in Boston - pretty nice although don't know too many people in or near the city right now. Played hockey through high school and did some club hockey in college before they stopped letting us bring alcohol on the bus since that was the only thing that even made it enjoyable considering it was horrible compared to the level I played at in high school and was a stupid time commitment. But yeah, not so sure about the whole engineering career path which sucks but I'll figure it out. Currently single, and I guess my favorite things to do include playing hockey, drinking good beer, photography, obsess over politics, travel, lift, sleep, listen to music, and plan shit that I'll never actually do. As for my future, I might do the Peace Corps when I graduate - other than that I just know I don't want an entry-level engineering job where I'll just be doing stupid maths all day. So yeah, happy to be here to make my VHL life a bit more interesting

I could say the same about here.

Because people don't feel the need to constantly shit on VHL there the way people for some reason feel the need to shit on SHL here.
