Welcome to the first-ever Mississauga Hounds press conference! I'm excited to get the year going. WITHOUT FURTHER ADO...

    1. Did you think you'd be going to Mississauga? Why or why not?

    2. Do you like this team so far?

    3. What type of player do you plan on building?

    4. Give a shout-out to one member of this league who you think did the most to help you get started here.

    5. Do you think we have a shot at winning it all? Who do you think will be toughest to beat?

    6. Call it right now--if you're a skater, how many points will you have this season? For our goalie, what will your save percentage be?

    1. I had heard rumours of who was going to draft me but with so many teams needing goalies I was never sure.

    2. Team seems to have a good environment around it. I'm quite happy with how everything is.

    3. Well not many options for me as a goalie but all I can say is I will play to win.

    4.  I'll just give a shout out to everyone on discord. Every person there wants to help you out.

    5. I think everyone has a shot this year thanks to the depth of the recent draft. I think we are a playoff team at least.

    6. I want to break .900% this season but that will be a tough thing to do.

  2. In a statement released by Funks agent Curtis Joseph, he responded to the recent release of an article questioning a budding rivalry.

“As Chyrnoble said, I don’t know much about the kid. He seems to be talented for his age with strong abilities. I’m sure he will be of use to whichever team he lands on. I’m not sure whether he wants to play a couple in the VHLM or not but that could be the difference between us.”

“As for my draft status, I am planning to only play one year in the VHLM so I could see my stock fall. But I will be able to carry whatever team that drafts me. I’m hoping to compete for the championship as I will only be getting one shot at it.”

With the draft being just hours away, we will have to wait and see what happens to Funk and his future in the VHLM. With expansion teams drafting early we could see a lot of goalies off the board early.

    1. If you had to compare your player to a current NHL goalie, who would it be?

    2. Which VHLM team do you think has the coolest logo?

    3. For the team that drafts you - what is one thing you would want them to know about Mr. Rayz Funk

    4. Which adjective best describes Rayz Funk

    5. Any weird superstitions your player has?

    1. Marc-Andre Fleury or Sergei Bobrovsky. They are smaller goalies and have a little more acrobatics in them.

    2. The San Diego Marlins or the Mississauga Hounds

    3. I expect to be playing on a non tanking team with the starting role. Otherwise my angry side might come out a bit.

    4. Fast. quik on reacting and beating the puck. On the rare rebound I give up I can usually make it into position again

    5. I use fresh Steep Steel every period. I need my blades super sharp to help my reaction times.

    1. Have you ever competed in any other sims? If so do you think that gives you an advantage?

    2. Whats the inspiration behind your position and name?

    3. What are the most important aspects of your game as a goalie?

    4. Would you rather have a decent defense with decent offense, or bad defense with great offense?

    5. Do you have any fun career highlight stories you could tell us?

    6. What was your players most nervous moment and how did it end up?

    1. Wish I could say yeah but no. Just played offline manager sims and stuff like it

    2. I've always played out. Thought it would be fun to play as a goalie since I haven't played in net ever. (except for scrims) Name is from my gamer tag and a family name.

    3. My important aspects have always been rebound control and reaction time. Making it to the first shot and making sure there isn't another chance.

    4. I would take double decent. I have a chance to carry the team. But without defence I will get lit up for sure.

    5. No specific events but a couple of fights throughout the minors. Suspended once for 5 games for it... oops

    6. Playing the MMAAAHL finals last year. A lot of pressure after losing the year before. Had to make sure we could win it this year.

What VHL team logo do you like best?

What VHLM team do you want to be drafted by?

Is your player a blonde, brunette or redhead?

Weirdest thing in your hockey bag?

Colored tape for your stick, totally yes or absolute no? why?

    Funniest thing about your player?

What is your goal/ fight song?

I think Malmo has to have the best logo. Nice amount of flair in it. But still simple and subtle.

I don't really care who I get drafted by, I more so would just be hoping to go in the first or the second round. The earlier the better.

I'm a dirty blonde. Matches my play in front of the net.

Sheet metal. I used to trim my blade with it so it hurt more when I whacked people.

I'm down for some colour in my tape during the regular season. Match the team colours and it looks sweet.

    --------------------------------

Fight song is an obvious one. Here Comes The Boom - Nelly.

  8. With the draft a week away, these players seem like they plan to stay in the VHLM for one more season.

    #1) Codrick Past | Great Britain | D | 6' 0" | 190 lb. | Age: 18 | TPE: 196 |

Past is a playmaking defenceman who can also shoot fairly well for a defender. He had 16 goals and 81 assists for 97 points in 72 games. With a 13.45% shooting percentage, Past only takes quality shots.

    #2) Apollo Hackett | USA | D | 6’2” | 215 lbs. | Age: 19 | TPE: 181 |

Hackett is a stay at home defender. Hackett is physical and has the footspeed to keep up with the strongest forwards as well as above average defending skill. Hackett had 33 points in 43 games and averaged 2.2 hits per game and 1.2 blocked shots per game.

    #3) Rusty Shackleford | USA | D | 6’2” | 225 lbs. | Age: 21 | TPE: 180 |

Shackleford is a defender through and through. Strong checker and plays a physical game. With this, Shackleford is a week passer and scorer. But managed 50 points in 72 games. He averaged 1.51 blocked shots, 3 hits and 2.06 PIM per game.

    #4) Mat Tocco | Czech Republic | RW | 5’9” | 170 lbs. | Age: 19 | TPE: 166 |

Tocco is a goal scoring winger. He has good puck control and speed. He averaged 1.46 hits per game and had 18 points in 52 games.

    #5) Aleksander Rodriguez | USA | RW | 6’5” | 205 lbs. | Age: 16 | TPE: 165 |

Rodriguez is a two-way playmaking winger. With quik feet, good passing and strong defending. Rodriguez can still score with a 15.69% shooting percentage. He had 24 goals and 35 assists for 59 points in 72 games.

  9. Props to a hard fought series by both sides. Sucks that people want controversy where there is none. Sims are random and don't ever work how we want them to. He live simmed most games but had to do two non due to time constraints. No biggie. People are reaching in a fantasy hockey game that is meant to be fun. There is always next season folks.

Good luck to all next year

  10. Bio was a bit of a new style compared to most of the reads. Switching from story to comments from the player was a new spin I enjoyed reading.

It's missing even small explanatory photos though which kinda bites. Doesn't pull you in the same way or help you picture the player.

Declaring for VHLM one year into college is ballsy, lets see if it pays off! Good Luck!
