Town of Salem So there is a forum game that is played in the VHL forums semi regularly and to me it has been a great interaction with people that I have never been on a team with. The only time for example I have talked to Eagles has been during games of Town of Salem. For people who don’t know Town of Salem is a social deduction style game where players have different roles which allow them to complete different actions within the game. Essentially it boils down to a game of good vs evil, the good players are trying to get rid of the evils using democracy and the justice system of jailing and hangings whilst the evil players are trying to murder everyone until they are the only ones left. The fun of the game comes from not knowing anything at the start and piecing it all together using clues from yourself and fellow players. The good players don’t know who anyone is whilst the evil players know who is in their faction. But are the Town of Salem games a great use of the forum or is it causing more harm then good. Well if you ask someone during a game especially if they have just been lynched they will say to get rid of them but personally think it is a great thing that Gustav and others do. It has given me much more exposure to more and more people than ever and I love every game I play even though I am no good at it. Thank you all for reading and if a game like this interests you let Gustav know you want to be in the next one.

So I created this mess of the text filter creating the idea for the theme week. So here we will refer to the word as Shunned cause I can write that as much as I want. So what am I going to talk about in the article about being shunned, well my example that I used in the original idea. I will talk about some players who have won 4 cups and haven’t made it to the Hall of Fame. For a fun bit of VHL trivia there have been two players who have got 5 cups in their players career and 14 players who have won 4 cups in their career. Now of those 14 players there had been no one who shared all 4 cups with another player, except for 5 players who won in seasons, 68 + 69 + 71 & 73. These five players are part of what most people consider the greatest dynasty of all of the VHL. These players are Scott Greene, Ambrose Stark, Hulk Hogan, Berocka Sundqvist & Rayz Funk. Anyone who knows much about the late 60’s early 70’s will for sure know these names. Especially Rayz Funk and Hulk Hogan who have made it to the Hall of Fame and are well and truly household names. So that leaves the other three players who were part of all 4 cups but get no recognition in the Hall of Fame. So were they shunned or do they not deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. Before we start with the Shunning we need to look at why Funk and Hogan made it to the Hall of Fame and give us some points of comparison. Rayz Funk, this one will be hard to compare as you can’t really compare a Goalie with a Skater but honestly Funk was incredible in his career and definitely deserves being in the Hall of Fame. He was an absolute beast in the playoffs and without him I doubt that the other 4 win the 4 cups. Funk won the Kanou with each cup. Hulk Hogan is one of the players that you either love or you love to hate, Hogan made the Hall of Fame whilst only winning one award and that was the Beketov trophy in S71 (the trophy received for most assists). Whilst he was a consistently good defender for the Bears he didn’t have much individual success. So now let me move along and have a look at the potential shunn-ees. Ambrose Stark, this here is Old Banakock’s player and not only was he successful enough to be part of the 4 amazing cups he also took home the Szatkowski Trophy in season 71 (The trophy for most points in the season) but for some reason even though he has won the same amount of silverware as the aforementioned Hulk Hogan Stark is currently not even on the ballot for Hall of Fame. Who’s Scott Greene I hear you ask well let me tell you a bit about him DoktorFunk’s first player in the league who was also a part of the historic Seattle Bears team. Unfortunately unlike the other players in this list Greene never got any individual awards but he always produced solid numbers and winning four cups surely that is reason enough to get your name on the Hall of Fame ballot at least. Lastly, we have Berocka Sundqvist who was an average player when first drafted but after making the switch to defense two seasons in to his career was one of the best in the league. Unfortunately he was always living in the Shadow of the greatest defender of his time Condor Adrienne. But in Season 72 which wasn’t even a Bears cup winning season Sundqvist took home the Beketov trophy alongside Lincoln Tate. But due to his slow start he never made it to the ballot for the Hall of Fame. So, what are your thoughts do all 5 of these tremendous players deserve a spot in the Hall of Fame? Who got the most Shunned by the voting committee let me know what you think.

I wish we could play the game without our usernames as I think it makes the game way to much of a meta game about previous decisions rather than playing the game based on the daily and nightly actions

1. Surely it has to be LA we went from a wild card team to being considered best in the league 2. I don't think I really have ever been snubed for any of my players. Maybe Gustav Mattias going so low in the VHLM draft 3. I think Seattle with Bana at the helm you can never really underestimate them because they can cause Havok in the post season 4. I think we are playing well but part of me wonders if we are playing a bit above our level but let the wins keep coming 5. I want to be putting up slighlty better numbers in my final season 6. I think we all start piling on @Gustav for something for being a commissioner there seems to be an awful amount of dirt on him

Potential ideas for a future theme week. Hi VHL peeps today I am going to be discussing some ideas that I have had for potential theme week ideas. I think the most successful theme weeks lie somewhere between narrow enough that there is consistency between all graphics and media spots/podcasts as well as being broad enough that everyone is also not writing/designing the exact same thing. On top of all of that it has to be somewhat interesting as I believe the idea of the theme week is to create some sort of forum content interaction. Firstly, I think that in the future you could have a theme week that is different between the different types of point task. Like for graphics you could have reverse retro jersey and then for media spots you could have a point task for a trade breakdown. Both of these would be not very exciting in the other point task style but would to me be an interesting read for the media spots and I imagine some cool jersey designs. So without further waffle let me start on some of my ideas, please note that as I am a media spot/podcast guy these will be tailored to these point tasks and it might be difficult to do a graphic on them. 1. FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY Who is a player/builder who should have won the award for something or should be a member of the Hall of Fame. Whilst I do think that this could be heated I think that if you place a restriction that you are unable to write this one about yourself/your player than we could get some interesting investigations. Also this to me is one of the easier ones for graphics guys to chip in. You just need to make a signature for someone with an award they didn’t win or chuck Hall of Fame on there. For Example that I could write about Scott Greene being FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY for the Hall of Fame as a centre who led the Seattle Bears to four cups and achieved a lot in his 8 seasons. 2. Alternate Reality If your player was to not have gotten into the VHL and played Ice Hockey what would they be doing and how would their life be different. Would they have become a pro in another sport of be a homeless bum. I think this one would be pretty average but it can’t be worse than VHL Vacation. 3. VHL Oscars It is VHL in the movies I think this could go a range of ways. Either if there were to be a remake of famous movies with VHL members/players who would it be and why. If there was to be a VHL movie what would the storyline/plot be and who would feature in the movie. So here are three quick ideas for theme week this season. Which ones would you like to see and which ones should be avoided like the plague. Do you have any other ideas I would love to hear each and everyone of thema.

I feel bad that no one is doing these so I will help you out mate 1. I hope so, it would be a shame to see us fall off 2. Would have to be the Cookie Monster 3. Well we have lost some games so I would have to say we shouldn't lose any 4. I didn't get to do VHFL this season but I am only going to get 1 less TPE this season than I usually do 5. I honestly think it is a toss up between the two greatest teams to exist, LA Kings and Arizona Coyotes who ever wins the matches in Australia will win the cup 6. The return of the almightly LA Stars to the top of the ladder and no longer being a wildcard/cusp team

Here is a quick wrap up of my Players Gustav Mattias and Callum Murray and how they are doing. Gustav Mattias after being drafted 26th overall to the San Diego Marlins has currently played a total of 23 games. During this time he has only scored one goal on 36 shots. However when he scores a goal he make sure it counts the only goal he has scored has been the game winning goal. He has got a total of 6 points though as he has 5 assists during his time. We all know that you can’t just have goal scorers you need to have the playmakers also on the ice. As the Marlins have an absolute killer line up and are currently 2nd overall with a stat line of 19-3-1 with a 40 goal differential, this can even be seen by Gustav Mattias who currently has a +/- of +18. He also isn’t too afraid to throw his body around with 44 hits and has spent 10 minutes in the penalty box. Also we know he doesn’t like defending at all and has managed to block one shot. It seems he must have just been too lazy to get out of the way. His predicted score line will be 3 goals and 15 assists for a total of 18 points. Now moving on over a short 194km journey from San Diego to LA. The Los Angeles Stars home of Australian Callum Murray are also 2nd on the ladder with a record of 17-5-1. Callum is having a slighlty better season than Gustav so far with 6 goals scored on a total of 81 shots as well as 12 assists to round out 18 points in the 23 games played so far. He is also benefiting from being on a good team as he has a +/- of +12 Callum is doing well with 47 hits but only having 45 shot blocks this season. The low shot block numbers could be from a fact that they are playing quite well and have less shots against them therefore there are less to block but who would really know with the limited data from STHS. Callum has sat in the box for a total of 36 mintues this season and from his 6 goals one of them have been a game winner. If we extrapolate out the number of games play to see what his predicted stat lines will look like we see here it would be, 18 Goals – 37 assists for a total of 55 points. This is significantly lower than my estimates at the start of the season of 29 goals 48 assists for a total of 77 points. But the season is still young and there is plenty of time to get those numbers up. So what do you think of Callum Murray and Gustav Mattias, was it time for Callum to hang up the skates or is he going out too early? Is Gustav someone that you will have on your radar for future drafts for example the VHLE and the VHL? Only time will truly tell.
