Season 92 Theme Week Hello, As has been the case the last few seasons, the week after the trade deadline is theme week! This means if you do an MS, Podcast, or graphic on theme you can double it this week (ending February 4th) for an extra 6 TPE uncapped AND if you do a VHL.com task on theme you can claim an additional 1 TPE uncapped. Complete both and you get a bonus 1 TPE which means if you do everything you get a bonus 8 uncapped TPE this week. It is possible that some of you may have already submitted tasks for the week. If that is the case (or you have a multi-week MS), you may still participate, and delay claiming either task by one week. However, to be eligible for Theme Week bonus TPE, your point task must be posted by February 4th. As I always point out as well, if you have a job that replaces a PT, you may automatically claim the doubles, and if you have a job that pays the full cap, you may claim all 8 Uncapped TPE, provided you still perform your duties this week. So, with all that out of the way, the theme this season is Unsung Heroes (Player or Member); more specifically a member or player that you feel doesn't get the credit they deserve. This can be about a specific historical player, modern player, a specific member; whatever you want. Just pick something from the multitude of members and or players of the league and write about it or do a graphic for it or whatever. So, a reminder, TPE Distribution for completing themed tasks will be as follows: Complete a Regular Point Task (Media Spot / Graphic/Video / Podcast), on 'Theme', and receive an extra 6 Uncapped TPE   Complete a VHL.com submission (Written / Graphic / Podcast), on 'Theme', and receive an extra 1 Uncapped TPE  Complete both 'Theme' submissions, receive an additional 1 Uncapped TPE, for a total of 8 Uncapped TPE   Let’s hear about some unsung heroes shall we! *Make sure to tag the people you talk about*

Yes I agree with this that it is the best solution. No I was not saying I want to make a meta build I never did it when it was a thing and I wouldn't ever play the simulator to ruin the fun of others. This is not my end goal my final line in my article was a tongue in cheek extreme to get people talking. Yeah I understand if you they help your player but there are some that sucks. Like if you are a defender and put points into faceoffs for the strength the wasted points for faceoffs really feel like a waste. It's not about wanting to dominate at all every single one of my players have been mediocre at best I think in my 26 seasons (which I know isn't as much as others here) I have won one individual award. It's about feeling some sort of progression, it's about putting in work every week for no perceivable change. In essence I'm not saying it's a broken system and I'm butthurt that I'm not the world's greatest player whilst only doing welfare and practice facility. I am saying that I find at the moment hybrid has given less build flexibility in my opinion whilst making my TPE mean less

The Hybrid Attributes are ruining the League This might be clickbait but who doesn’t love a nice title that bites. Anyway, let me move on to my feelings on the Hybrid Attributes. Firstly, for those who don’t know my general VHL opinions I do not like the whole depreciation thing, yes, I understand the idea of it and why it is required. I don’t like the idea that the best strategy is to bank your points for when you need to counter your depreciation. This makes it tough for me to keep interested in completing point tasks because the work that I am doing has no change to my player I am no longer doing work to improve myself but rather to keep my head above water. Now with this out of the way it should explain some of my rough thoughts towards the Hybrid Attributes. Once you hit 80 points in one of the attributes it now costs 5 TPE to add one more point. For example, the Offensive Vision attribute increases the STHS attribute by .3 for each Passing and Scoring this means that there is a chance that you can apply 15 TPE into one attribute and not improve yourself at all. I know this is not guaranteed to happen but the fact it is a possibility is what angers me. So, you go through your whole career with occasionally having weeks where you do all your TPE and nothing changes, it is not even like it is a late in the career issue, I am at this point currently and I have 500 TPE. Yes, I know what you are thinking that I have a strange build and if I built normally this wouldn’t have been an issue. This takes me to my second point that due to the way the attributes are paired up there are certain builds that are extremely hard to pull off. With Gustav Mattias I was trying to build a player that was a sniper but had nothing on the back half of the ice. Essentially was an offensive powerhouse who was a giant liability on defence. Well, if I want to update my Puck Handling or Strength more I need to put points into Defence or Face Offs. Now I will do this as I need to, but I wish that I could try my build without being forced to waste TPE on stuff I don’t need. Honestly this is my second player with hybrid attributes and I am already thinking about retirement and I haven’t even finished my first season in the VHL. If Bana is reading this don’t worry mate, I will stick it out for you. I am strongly thinking of going back to a Goaler next player as I wanted to just be able to go back to no matter what if I cap for the week my player will get stronger. My final point in the disagreement with Hybrid Attributes is how little this changes anything in regards to the VHLM. A skater with 72 TPA is less TPA in STHS than what you use to start with before the change with 29 STHS TPA, and a skater with 160 TPA in Hybrid their STHS TPA is only 67. So what does everyone else think, is Hybrid a good change or would you rather the Meta Era again

This sounds like great ideas for you biography/media spots/vhl.com articles. When you claim them they are essentially linked to a player. You can add little comments to your claim if you want to bookmark things

A Quick Draft Recap So I spent the last week messaging people who I thought would make potentially good fits for Saskatoon and making sure that people were happy playing with a rebuilding team. Also with going all in last season we weren’t really in a great position to have an incredibly exciting draft with the following picks being available to us. 10th, 30th, 40th & 50th overall. So with my first pick at 10th overall I chose Forum Content, not only because I am a strong believer in Forum Content and also because @frescoelmo seems like a cool character to have on the roster, sure I know if we are rebuilding they might not get much of a chance this season but I would like to think that it could be some nice trade bait come trade deadline when the contenders are looking to bolster their rosters. Also, I really don’t think we will be the worst team in the league so tanking isn’t what I want to do. After missing the 2nd round due to a trade made last season with the San Diego Marlins my next pick rolled around at number 30 at the end of the 3rd round. With this pick I grabbed Austin Goulet III, now @Tuchy responded to my draft message with a short and sweet response saying they had no problem coming over to the wildside. So, looking for a Goaler and one that might be able to help us in future seasons it seemed like a good pick to me. Plus, you never know that a portal only player might see this inspiring Media Spot and become a Forum Content king like my 1st pick. I always think that it is nice having a goalie on the roster, it means that you don’t need to try and draft/waiver sign or even trade for one in the future if you are trying to compete. Next around was the end of the 4th round with pick number 40. With this pick I selected the returning VHLM Champion of the World Sylvia Davis @Possum Queen, it is nice to have a familiar face back in the locker room and defenders are always needed to make a championship side. Will be great to have Davis back winning games with the Wild again. In Summary I believe that I have made a pretty decent core to build around both this season and next, I think this season there is potential for anybody to win as there is a lot of uncertainty around due to the ways of the youtube ad, we will probably get 50 odd new starters but it depends on how many stick around and what their earning rate is like. Hopefully we get multiple people who are max earners and we can really boost our Forum Content as the way I have heard things every media spot posted my first round pick will grow in size and become unstoppable by the end of the season.
