  1. 1. Sadly the Legion were eliminated in game seven of the NA Conference Finals, but there's a list of positive feats we accomplished this season. What would be your favorite thing Toronto overcame or accomplished this season? A poor start and the ability to adjust our game to be successful. 2. What was your reaction when Toronto defeated Seattle four games to one? It felt really good. Great team effort. 3. As an individual do you consider this season a success... or a failure? A huge success. We improved during the season and made a good push. 4. What have you been doing so far this off season? Nothing but rest then back to training. 5. Toronto has a few picks in the upcoming entry draft, what are you hoping the team does with those picks? Picks anyone that is actively trying to improve. 6. On a scale from one to ten... how do you rate Toronto's season? 9.5. We were a lucky bounce away from being in the finals.
  2. Review: You have a great start with this graphic. You didn't over process it with Topaz, which is good. I like the direction this is going but I would really like to review it after it has text. Text, in my opinion, is about the hardest part of any project. 7/10
  3. Review: Fun graphic to look at. The elements stay within the theme. It has a good look to it with the simple background with minimal effects. Good job. 8/10
  4. 1. Regardless on where Toronto lands in the draft -- hopefully sixteenth for obvious reasons -- there are still quality prospects deep into the second and potentially third rounds. Do you have anyone you're interested in that's 'off the board' at all, or are you content leaving the scouting to management? I don't have any opinions on prospects. 2. We're currently enjoying a series lead against the Seattle Bears, do you think we can close the series off and advance to the next round against either the Vancouver Wolves or DC Dragons? We will best the Bears and lose in a good series to Vancouver. According to the Psychic Hotline. 3. As your general manager -- in times where you've needed me for anything -- how helpful have I been for you? Wait, you are the GM? Cool. Always been helpful and fair. 4. Our team has been lead offensively by our captain, do you have any thoughts about that? / (For Corco) You've been a quiet leader during your tenure with the Legion, and now you're leading them once again in your second playoff appearance. How do you feel about that? Well somebody has to step up and lead the pack, might as well be the high skilled captain. 5. It's been a season removed since we made the playoffs (S72) -- how would you describe the feeling you have about being in the post season? Always fun to make it into the playoffs. Never thought we wouldn't. 6. Do you think Toronto has what it takes to make the playoffs again next season? Well I hope we don't get worse during the off season. I would think the future should be brighter.
  5. John Merrick's Rookie Experience The move into the big league can be a scary thought to some players. It is easy to get comfortable playing against lower skilled players in the minors. Making the jump into the big league can be brutal as you are playing against big men, not young boys. John Merrick was not at all worried, he relished the thought of playing on Toronto and playing with and against the top players in the VHL. Coming off a good minor league season, John Merrick was confident that he could contribute to the team on a limited role. Little did he know he would play huge minutes and have to center the second unit. It was a dream come true. John Merrick's first full VHL season wasn't bad at all. With 84 points, he was well over a point per game. Not a bad start to his VHL career. Also he wasn't a liability as he finished the season with a plus 27. The pressure was a bit high to perform. Being drafted 5th overall does put a bit a pressure on you to get the job done and prove you were worth the risk. John feels like he did a fine job in his first season and the pressure now is just winning games in the playoffs. Coming to Toronto was a painless part of the transition. They are a very well organized team and has a great GM. The team took to John and made him feel at home. All things felt right about the move up to the big league. It wasn't all rainbows and roses, but it was a start and the team pulled together and started to win games against the leagues finest. With roles being defined as the season move through the schedule, John felt very comfortable in his role. He ate a lot a minutes in his first season, something that not all rookies can say. With continued hard work, John Merrick looks to have a great career in the VHL. All signs are pointing to success, no matter where he plays, John feels he can contribute and be a viable player for just about any team. Making a run for the cup in his first season has been the icing on the cake. The playoffs are tough, even tougher on a rookie. John has handled the playoffs well so far with 10 points in 7 games. Nothing is easy though. Every series can go either way but John is doing what he has always done, work hard and be the best that he can be.
  6. Review: While it isn't my favorite color palette, it looks really good here. Render looks good and placement makes sense. Text looks really good and works with your design. Good job. 8/10
  7. Review: This one has some interesting elements. It also looks a bit off with the color palette you used. Not a fan of the blocky pixelated background. Maybe if it were a different color it would look better. Format looks good, just doesn't seem to work well with some of your choices. 7/10
  8. Well Toronto made the playoffs. We are facing a big powerhouse of a team with Seattle. Their cup run has made them the latest dynasty and they know what to do this time of year. To say we have our work cut out for us is an understatement. Toronto does have a “can do” attitude and we won't back down or roll over and play dead. We will put up a fight and I can say for certain that we will not be swept. Toronto has some youth that will be much better next season along with the veterans that carry the team. We have to be sharp and stay out of the box. We have to score on the power play when we can. Seattle can be beat but it will take some Simon luck to do it. We are a determined bunch and like a good scrap. This series will be a hard one. It will take all our tools in the bag to get past this team. Toronto seems to be ready to answer the bell. Seattle is always ready to play hard and long. Let's see how this one goes.
  9. 1. Toronto has battled into 3rd place in our conference and is in a tight race for the playoffs, what do we need to do to finish off this season? Play our game and we will be in the playoffs. 2. Is there a particular team you’d like to see us faceoff against in the playoffs? Seattle would be a great test for us. 3. Who has been the team MVP up to this point of the season? Everyone on our team is an MVP. 4. As AGM what are some things you’d like me to do for the team other than pressers? Hand out the towels in the shower would be great of you. 5. It's been a long season are you guys wearing down at all or are you just now hitting your peak? Just hitting my peak. 6. Hit me with your favorite food combos! We could sell them during games or something. Sardine/peanut butter sandwich.
  10. Affinity Photo
  11. Review: I think you did a fine job with this low profile sig. Good render placement and the background fits your design well. I think you could have taken everything a step farther. Some text effects would have gone a long way here. Overall, great job. 8.5/10
  12. Review: I really like your render. Very clean and well cut. I always look at the format and have never really like centered renders but this one really works. I would suggest to add a texture or other stock to the background as it has to much empty space. I like the font, I just wish you have more to this graphic. Great job. 7/10
  13. 1. As a member of the Toronto Legion, you've just celebrated thanksgiving in Canada. How did you spend your holiday, and what kind of food(s) did you eat? I kicked back, drank beer and watched whatever sport was on the tv. Can't remember the food but I had fun. 2. For thanksgiving, Toronto was awarded with two 5-2 victories to jump seven points above the team that could push them out of position. How do you feel about the teams post-season birth being slowly built up after a 1-9-1 start? It was bound to happen. The players are very motivated and have worked hard to get this far. 3. Jaxx Hextall has been nothing but quality in Toronto's last four games, including three games with forty one or more saves, do you think he's finally found his groove? / (For Rookie) Has Hextall performed more like you were hoping in the last couple set of sims, or do you expect more out of your goalie? Jaxx is a great goalie. I don't blame any loses on him. It was a team defense failure that set us back at the start, not Jaxx. He will be a very good goalie for seasons to come. 4. Raleigh Ritchie announced his retirement for the end of the season, and is currently enjoying his best season in yet in the Victory Hockey League. How do you feel about his upcoming departure? / (For Danger) Ritchie is currently underway in his most productive season yet, did retiring come with hard decisions or did you know this is what you 100% wanted? I hope the best for him and I know all about retiring a good player. I was worth it. 5. Ziarie Anigbogu recently resigned with the Legion for three seasons, what do you think of the extension? / (For NG4) How do you feel about resigning with Toronto? That's great news. We have to solidify players for the future. 6. The trade deadline has passed, and Toronto held firm by keeping their S74 first and second round draft picks. Are you happy that there was no movement, or do you think Toronto should have acquired more players for a playoff push? I am very happy we kept our picks. They are easy to lose and hard to keep. We did good. Drafting will be critical.
  14. Toronto is is a great position in the standings this late into the season. We have fought our way out of a piss poor start and have come together to become a functioning unit. I have lost most games by a single goal and have showed well against most of the top teams. The team has played well with less overall talent than some teams. After a losing streak of a handful of games, the GM cleverly changed things up and got us back on track. The players are well motivated and are ready to finish out the season strong. We are in a very tight race for third in the west. One bad sim and we could fall in the standings. These last games will be critical for us. The players are in great spirits and are eager to get into the playoffs. It will be a fun time this post season. I have sat out a few times and it isn't fun at all. Toronto is ready to take on whoever we are matched with. The hype level is real, the players a foaming at the mouth. Let's get this season done. Playoffs is the place to be.
  15. Toronto is trying to push clear of a couple of teams to solidify a playoff spot early in the season. It's been an interesting schedule we have and we need to take advantage of the games in hand that we have. With the way the sim goes, it's a total crap shoot at this point. Toronto went on a massive win streak, showing they can compete with any club, then we turn around and lose to an expansion team. Typical fickle Simon T at his best. Even on this roller coaster win/lose run we are on now, Toronto should pull out some wins to separate us from a team or two. Tough battles and hard work should get us back to winning more than losing. We are a dedicated bunch and I expect we will be on the right path soon enough. Toronto is in a great spot with games in hand, I believe we will take full advantage of those games and get back to putting some wins together.
  16. Review: Centered graphics is a hard thing to pull off. Your render is very poor quality and that should be the element that holds your eye. You have some interesting elements, just doesn't seem to work with this project. Logo swap could have been blended a bit better but isn't horrible. Your font choice looks out of place as well. You have a solid design, but it will take a lot of work to pull it off. I would work on getting your render nice and clean with good detail, then build around your render. Good try, just needs some adjustments. 7/10 @Matmenzinger
  17. Review: Not bad looking. You are keeping with the same design, for the most part, that you have had great success with. I would agree that the render is a bit small. The background fits the design. Text/font looks good but most importantly, it is placed in a reasonable position. 8/10 @Kekzkrieg I would start to push yourself more. You have the skill to try different things. I would really like to see you take the next step. Good job.
  18. 1. Toronto recently acquired Oh Sens from Helsinki for a third and two fourth round draft picks. What do you think of the deal? / (For osens): How are you enjoying your time on Toronto? It was a good trade. He started producing right off the bat. 2. Chad Magnum -- seems like we mention him a lot here -- has been quietly leading the Legion for seasons, so it shouldn't be a surprise that he's atop our scouring chart once again. Do you think he has another opportunity to win the 'best two-way forward' award again? I would most certainly vote for him. Hard worker, great teammate. 3. Jaxx Hextall seems to be struggling, what do you think can calm his nerves for the upcoming games? / (For Rookie) How do you keep yourself motivated during times where you've been frustrated with your performance? I think the whole team needs to come together and make sure we are helping our tenders the best we can. We support both our goalies because that is a very tough position to play. 4. Toronto's current record is 21-19-3, good for 45 points in the NA Conference, so do you think we can maintain a playoff spot now? Chicago, Calgary, New York and Toronto are all competing for the fourth and fifth spots at the moment, although Chicago is overperforming similarly to how S72 TOR did. We have the tools, we will be there at the end of the season. 5. Once more Toronto has played the least amount of games compared to... literally any other VHL team. When do you think we'll catch up, if we do at all during the season? Most likely on the last day of the season. That's how crazy the schedule is. 6. John Merrick is trailing the Warsaw duo for top rookie (which is unfortunate because they're an expansion team and are more likely to give points to rookies). Do you think he can overcome them and start leading the rookie race? / (For Steve) Merrick has three games in hand over the other top rookies, do you think you can climb ahead of them? Although that would be great to get, it would be hard to pass a duo that has a clearer path in gaining points. John will be happy with whatever happens. Rookie seasons are frustrating at times. Glad to be on the list.
  19. Thirty four games into the season and Toronto has found their legs. With five consecutive wins, it moves them up the ladder with other teams just ahead. It has been a whole team effort and the players have pushed themselves to be better. As the season progresses, I see Toronto being in a good position for the playoffs. This would be a huge accomplishment. The defense has been really strong. The forwards seem to be playing a 200 foot game as well. This translates into more help for our goalie. We are on the plus side of goals for and goals against and it seems to be getting better each week. All signs of a team that has made the right adjustments and players willing to put in the work. Good days are coming to Toronto. On a personal note, my player John Merrick is having a fine rookie season. He looks to contribute when he can and the team picks him up when he makes rookie mistakes. A player couldn't ask for a better team to play on. Let's see what this roller coaster sim has in store for us this coming week.
  20. Review: Nice detail in our render. Text looks like it is one blend mode away from being really good. The ice background is a bit plain and would have made a better overlay for a final touch than the main background. Overall, not bad. Cool effects on the render, font is bold and easy to read. It just needs something to bring all that together. 7/10
