damn didn't see this comming. Welcome to the team guys
  2. Training camp has been underway it's been a week now and fans are patiently waiting for the beginning of Season 82. After another finals appearance, fans know that their team's window is closing and they're hoping that this is the year their team can win it all. One player who has been receiving a fair amount of fan hate lately this training camp is centerman, The Seabasstard. The Seabasstard showed up to this year's training camp overweight and clearly out of shape. Almost like he had not skated since the finals loss to the Vancouver Wolves. Hell, with the beard he was now sporting it doesn't even look like he has even shaved since the loss either. In the training camp drills it looks like The Seabasstard is consistently lagging behind his teammates and just seems out of gas and out of touch. The coaching staff have noticed and some of their discussions with the player at camp seemed to have gotten pretty heated up at times. " I told him, he's overweight and out of shape and if he's going to be continuing to play in the VHL he's going to have to get back with the program and fast. His conditioning hasn't been acceptable and it's becoming a distraction to the team." -Moscow Head Coach "Yeah I guess I've had a little too much fun this offseason and had a few too many to drink over the summer. It's been all play and no work and I just got to get back to work. I may be a little guilty here of using the Training Camp to get myself back into game shape, kinda like some of the stories you'd hear from some of the old time NHLers. But it's modern times and the modern athlete doesn't take a day off and I have to hold myself to that standard. Not just for myself but for my team." -The Seabasstard
  3. Today we welcome back our Moscow Menace as training camp has opened up in preparation for a new season of VHL hockey. Last season as we all know, the Moscow Menace fell short of reaching their Continental Cup goal as they fell to the Vancouver Wolves for the second year in a row. Fans are hopeful that the team still has what it takes to reach the finals yet again and maybe just maybe, the third time is a charm for the Menace and they finally get to win the Continental Cup. One can dream right? If we look at this team on paper so far, it looks very similar to the one we seen reach the finals last year and features many of the same core pieces. However, on paper we can't say the team looks any better in fact there's a few missing pieces from last season's run. The Menace lost key veterans Lexi Glass and Brian Strong Jr. to retirement as well as defender Arvid Johansson to free agency and they didn't really sign anyone during the offseason so far to address any of those roster holes. It looks to me like the Menace plan on calling up the young Russian forward, Sergey Preobrazhensky from the VHLE's Cologne Express where he was able to score over 40 goals in 90+ points last season. Preobransky will be a rookie to watch for this year as he will assume top 6 minutes and has a lot of promise but that still leaves the Menace with at least one more vacancy on D to fill. If the Menace don't look any better on paper how will the team be able to finally capture the coveted Continental Cup? Well with two straight finals appearances the team is easily one of the most experienced teams in the VHL right now come playoff time and if they make it to the playoffs they're going to be really hard to knock down. Plus the Menace's young goaltender Papa Emeritus should keep building on his performance from last year as he's basically now hitting the prime years of his career. If playoff Emeritus shows up during the regular season this team is going to have another great season on top of the standings ahead of them, but so far consistency has been a issue for Emeritus during the regular season. Duncan Idaho remains the team's biggest superstar and even though the losses of Strong Jr. and Glass hurts I don't think it'll affect the team's main offensive weapon very much as they didn't necessarily play on his line very much anyways. I fully expect Idaho to be our top scorer again this year and if Idaho can score another 100+ season I think we're still going to be just fine especially if youngster Nico Pearce can take the next step in his career after posting a 50 point rookie season. Really as long as the Menace have two of the league's best defenders, Hard Markinson and Aurelien Moreau the team will always be contenders. Those two guys control the pace of the games for the Menace and since they both play on different pairings, there's always at least one of them on the ice at all times and that's been key to the success of this team. In a league that seems to lack high quality defenders right now, having two elite defenders on the team is huge, and it's even bigger for us when they're both posting insane numbers on different pairings. The team also has a young defender by the name of Zdeno Chara (not to be confused with Zeedayno Chara) who is coming into his sophomore season and is looking to build off his exceptional rookie campaign. Overall I think this is still a good team capable of making the playoffs and once we make it there, anything can happen. Lets get her done! Players Mentioned: @Beketov @Wheaties @AW13 @Spartan @Bulduray_1 @Agito @STZ @Frank @OrbitingDeath

  5. 1. Well obviously I'm dissapointed, but mostly stumped and where to go from here and what to change moving forward to have better success. I don't know, it's rough. 2. Probably my skating, to play my kind of game I got to have some speed. 3. I'll be honest I haven't looked that far ahead yet and I don't even know who's going to be eligible yet. Scouting isn't my job here I just got to go out and play hockey. 4. Yes of course and they have. Moreau, Markinson and Idaho have all had stellar years and all of them deserve the awards they won. Were very luck to have such talented skaters on our team. 5. I'm not so sure what we're doing wrong so I'm not sure what we should do diffferently to change our outcome. It's frustrating. 6. Covid delays definitely killed my interest in the NHL. Makes it rough for fantasy hockey too.
  6. Battre Sandstrom and Bogdan Trunov @dlamb
  7. Well we are well into our offseason now. The VHL Draft was last night and the Moscow Menace didn't have any first round picks this year but still welcomed 5 new players to the team from the later rounds. Next if the free agency season but today I want to take a step back talk about something different that happened earlier on in the week. The Seabasstard has decided to officially accept his player option that was due this year and commit to playing for the Menace for one more season. There was rumours that he may consider leaving due to the disappointment of going through another finals loss at the hands of the Vancouver Wolves. "You can't get rid of me that easy. What kind of player would leave the team after having two career seasons in a row? Don't fuck with something that ain't broken ya know? Those rumours were obviously false as there is officially ink on the paper, I'm coming back for another one. I love playing in Moscow and I've built a lot of chemistry on and off the ice with the core players we've had in place for a while now. I've made good friendships here and I also think that we're not done contending. If everyone stays on board and committed to the team I don't think it's out of the question that we can contend for another couple more seasons. I really want to bring the cup to Moscow lets make it happen"
  8. 1. Well it's dissapointing. It's not ideal to come up short of the cup two years in a row and losing to the same team. Our window for winning won't be open forever so it's frustrating. 2. Well i'd like to change my routine up a bit and start including some new workouts. I want to add some more muscle and put on a few pounds. 3. I'll be honest I haven't been paying too too much attention to this year's prospects. 4. Well a lot of us had great seasons and quite a few of us crossed over the 100 point milestone. It would be nice to see Moreau get rewarded for his stellar play this year, for a defenseman he had great offensive numbers and I think he deserves to be in the running for offensive defenseman of the year. 5. If I had the answers we wouldn't be here right now. Beating Vancouver is what we need to do differently. 6. COVID has definitely killed my interest a bit. I'm usually keeping busy with a few fantasy leagues but it's hard to be into it with all these delayed games, it's hard to know if someone is playing or not.
  9. I can only try! No guarantees I can top that last season though, there was some insane offensive numbers that year.
  10. Well that was a fun ride in this year's playoffs but unfortunately we've come up just short of winning the Continental Cup yet again. I'm just as disappointed as everyone else and I feel sorry for our fans who have had to witness two straight finals exits at the hands of the Vancouver Wolves who seem to have become quite the hated team around the VHL. I have no regrets though as two straight appearances in the finals is no easy feat either and some players don't even get to experience one in their whole career, just like my last player. I also got to put up my first 100+ point season this year which is a feat I never thought would be possible from my player. I had a lot of fun playing with mostly the same group of guys for these last two year and I hope we can manage to maintain our core for yet another run again next year. Though there's going to be some changes after the retirement of some key veterans like @AW13 who I give a lot of credit for turning me into a solid contributor for this team. I was just a 40 point getter before I got the privilege to have Glass on my wing and she turned me into the PPG star I am today. It'll be very tough to find another player to have that kind of on ice chemistry with. Happy retirement. Anyways happy offseason everyone and we'll see what kind of surprises @Spartan has in store for us this year.
  11. 1. Well I think we did well as in we won the series and everyone ended up being contributors. We could sure use to block more shots however, the least amount of shots that get to Emeritus the better. 2. We're just that good and I truly believe that our players are just more talented that's all. It's now 2 years in a row we knock them out of the playoffs. 3. I think most of my success is because I've stopped drinking as much before the games. 4. The guy has been exceptional these playoffs and ha been our MVP. The guy just works harder than anyone and he's just hit another level these playoffs. 5. Maybe not hold his stick as tight, the goals are going to come. 6. Get yourself a 2nd monitor. It helps.
  12. Just when I thought "That's it, it can't be better than this." after a 85 point last season (my first and only PPG season in the VHL with any player) the Seabasstard hits yet another level this season. We weren't even 50 games into the S81 season and The Seabasstard has apparently went all out and already broke his previous career high. Fuck, he even has a chance to break a 100 points oddly enough as he's currently sitting pretty with 96 points and we have 19 games left to the season. I bet nobody ever thought that would be possible considering that I'm technically a 2nd line player here. I didn't even think this was possible. I can't explain it but ever since I've had Lexi Glass on my wing, the Seabasstard has turned into a superstar. Now I don't expect to contend for the scoring race by the end of the season but it's damn nice to see my player's name on the scoring race leaderboard for once.
  13. 1. The Nighthawks are chumps, they got nothing on us. We'll get back on a hot streak and end the season first, I guarantee it. 2. I feel like it has, Pearce has been a breath of fresh air for us and has become quite the contributing teammate. Trust me it ain't east to come into the VHL as a rookie and instantly become a threat. He plays a very mature game and I believe Pearce will be a player that Menace fans will get to enjoy for a long time. 3. Well we're 53 games in so far and we already got Idaho breaking the 100 point milestone. Just watching that guy, it's a highlight moment after another, he's incredibly talented and fun to watch. 4. The fans, they don't make it easy on opposing players, they get pretty harsh and nasty at times. Especially in the third once everyone is nice and drunk, security in the stands are a must or else items will get tossed to the ice. 5. I never really thought about it. A Gigolo? 6. I haven't watched it no but as a guy who owns a few Beatles records i'd like to over the holidays.
