  1. Toronto Legion Press Conference (2 TPE for answering all six questions) 1. Trade deadline week is here! What do we need to add to the roster to increase our chances of competing in the playoffs this season? 2. Will you be watching the Four Nations Cup tournament closely next month? 3. If your player had a custom goal song, what would it be? 4. Do you refer to Gatorade drinks by their colour or their flavour? 5. Dalkr Vidarsson is tied for the league lead among goalies in both Assists and Penalty Minutes. Can he finish with the most in the league in both categories by the end of the season? 6. Is your go to utensil a spoon or a fork?
  2. ...and flip Simon off while doing it. How do you reconcile the counting based stats with the results? The Legion have now played 32 games this season, and have outshot their opponents in 25 of those (78.1% of the time). Despite that strength on the shot clock, the Legion sit at 18-13-1 with the 9th best points percentage in the VHL. Part of the struggle surely breaks down to schedule. Of the 32 games so far this season, the Legion have played 10 against the top 4 teams in the league (31.2% of the schedule). In those 10 games, the Legion are 5-4-1. They have been outscored 30-24 in those games, and been outshot 392-362. Another 11 of the games have come against the teams ranked 5th to 8th in points in the league (34.4%). In those 11, the Legion are 4-7-0. They've been outscored 36-31 in those games, while outshooting the teams 435-371. That means that the Legion schedule has added up to 65.6% of it being played against the top half of the league. With that context, being decently above .500 and on the solidly positive side of the shot clock doesn't seem quite as bad. Unfortunately, that doesn't add up to more wins. Looking at what the Legion have left on the schedule for the back half of the season, they're looking at this: - 9 games against top 4 teams in points - 8 games against teams that are 5th-8th in points - 10 games against teams that are 9th-12th in points - 13 games against teams that are 13th-16th in points While the softer schedule will help in theory, it's clear that the Legion still have steps to take to get into the top group of contenders in the league. Outside help may be needed with the trade deadline coming, and there are always tweaks to make with the lineup and tactics.
  3. Toronto Legion Press Conference (2 TPE for answering all six questions) 1. We've outshot our opponents in 25 of 32 games this season, but it isn't translating on the scoreboard. Is it just bad luck with Simon, or an issue with us? 2. What's the biggest surprise from NFL Wild Card Weekend? 3. Do you think that the VHL's playoff format needs a change as has been suggested to open up the wild card spots to both conferences and allow conference crossovers? 4. Dusted or Original chicken wings? And while we're at it, drums or flats? 5. If you had to recreate a player right now, which position would you pick to recreate as? 6. Who was your preferred Sherlock Holmes, Benedict Cumberbatch or Robert Downey Jr.?
  4. Should work, that's how the VHLM does it. I think you just need to tweak the bracket when you start it, but it should be doable.
  5. Toronto Legion Press Conference (2 TPE for answering all six questions) 1. After the slow start to the season, we're now 11-5-1, but still sitting 5th in the NA. It looks very much like last season where the NA Conference will be strong and deep, while the EU Conference is more top heavy. Where do we need to improve to move up from 5th? 2. Did you make any New Year's resolutions heading into 2025? 3. How well do you handle the colder weather in the winter months? 4. We've already got 6 different players with game winning goals and 7 different players with powerplay goals. Who has been the standout offensively so far in a balanced scoring effort? 5. Who is a movie character that was iconically played by one person that you couldn't see being re-cast? 6. What movie coming out in 2025 are you looking forward to seeing most?
  6. You say that now, but when my next player, Welcome Ace enters the VHL, I bet I'll hear about it
  7. Toronto Legion Captains S97 Edition The theme of the Toronto Legion captaincy for S97 can be summed up in one word: Seniority. There is a trend with the three players who were voted to be the on ice leadership group for this season, and there aren't many surprises before the inevitable changing of the guard that is coming. Assistant Captains #74 Diego Machado @Dadam30 The seventh and final season in the VHL for Diego Machado, all of them have been spent here with the Legion. His importance to the organization on the ice is reflected by the fact that he's bordering on the top 10 in several Legion career stats ranks, and will still be counted on this season to make an impact on the scoresheet. Off the ice, Machado has been a leader, already wearing an "A" last season. His leadership continues in his managerial capacity, as the GM of the VHLM's Saskatoon Wild. It comes as no surprise that he was an almost unanimous choice to be one of the captains of this seasons Legion roster. #21 Walter Fitzroy Jr. @Moon Seven seasons in the VHL with the Legion for Walter Fitzroy Jr. as well, though this will not be his final one. The long-time General Manager of the Legion, his involvement with the organization doesn't end with his stepping down from that role. Fitzroy Jr. has been a staple on the Legion blueline for a long while now, and is already in the top 10 in shot blocks for the team. On and off the ice, Fitzroy Jr. has meant a lot to the organization. The leadership to run the team and set the Legion up for success is vital, and that translates to what is needed in a captain group as well. The "A" on Fitzroy Jr.'s jersey is an honour that is long overdue. Captain #88 Harry Callahan @dstevensonjr Five straight seasons of wearing an "A" for the Legion, Callahan's seventh and final season in the VHL with Toronto will see him wear the "C" for the first time. Being voted to be Captain of this group has been a career goal for Callahan, and this honour is one that is very much appreciated.
  8. Toronto Legion Press Conference (2 TPE for answering all six questions) 1. Slow start for us so far (1-2-1), but we've outshot our opponent in 3 of the 4 games. Any concerns, or is it still very early? 2. What is your favourite snack to have during the holidays? 3. Which team do you think will be the biggest competition in the North American Conference? 4. If you could pick only 3 holiday movies to watch around the holidays every year, what would they be? 5. The VHL Awards committee comes to you and tells you that they want to re-name one of the VHL Awards in your honour. Which award would you want to be named in your honour? 6. Starting any new shows now that the holidays are almost over?
  9. Toronto Legion S96 Team Awards Hello, and welcome to the awards ceremony for the S96 Legion team! Most Valuable Player #88 Harry Callahan @dstevensonjr For the second consecutive season, Callahan wins the team MVP award after leading the team in multiple statistical categories, setting a few career highs. Callahan was named to the 2nd All-VHL team as a RW, just missing out on the league lead in goals by one. Others receiving votes: Dalkr Vidarsson, Diego Machado Best Defender #45 Andrew Skilton @ace_five_ Continued growth for Andrew Skilton as a young defender in the VHL resulted in career highs in assists, points, plus/minus, shots, and powerplay goals in his sophomore year. A big part of the future on the Legion blueline, the S94 first round pick has already become the TPE leader for Legion defenders, along with having the 7th highest TPE from the S94 draft class. This is the first Best Defender award for Skilton. Others receiving votes: Bobby Bob, FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY Analfist Unsung Hero #77 Gul Dukat @MSouthworth One of the defensive rocks on the Legion blueline, Gul Dukat added more offensive prowess in his third season in the VHL, picking up career highs in goals and shots, to go along with new highs in penalty minutes, hits, and shot blocks. Dukat quietly led the Toronto blueline in most of those categories, and has grown into a reliable top pair defender for the Legion. This is Dukat's first Unsung Hero award. Others receiving votes: Andrew Skilton, Diego Machado, Dorji Khan, Harry Callahan Most Gentlemanly #2 Kyle Toms @Ktoms22 Kyle Toms followed up his first season in Toronto by matching or exceeding his totals in goals, assists, points, plus/minus, shots, shot blocks, and game winning goals. The most impressive part is that he did all of that while having the fewest amount of penalty minutes on the team, a testament to his ability to stay productive without putting the team at risk shorthanded. Toms wins his first Most Gentlemanly award with the Legion. Others receiving votes: Andrew Skilton, Dorji Khan, Harry Callahan Most Energetic #88 Harry Callahan @dstevensonjr Callahan's constant chatter in the locker room is still being noticed by his teammates, as this is his sixth consecutive Most Energetic award. Attempts to drive his teammates insane will still continue. Others receiving votes: Diego Machado, Dorji Khan, Kyle Toms, Wayne Shotzky Rookie of the Year #4 Dorji Khan @Oddpurplefly Dorji Khan stepped into the Legion lineup in the VHL and immediately made an impact, finishing his rookie season with the third most goals, shots, and game winning goals on the team. It wasn't only on the Legion where he gained notoriety, as he finished fifth in the VHL in Rookie Points, earning the nod as the RW on the VHL All-Rookie team. Khan is well positioned to take a big step forward in his second season with the Legion in the VHL. Top Prospect #19 Inker Belle @WildfireMicro Inker Belle's first full season in Las Vegas was an up and down one on a team that had a larger focus on the future, moving out multiple players for draft picks mid-season. Even with that occurring, Belle still managed to put up solid numbers, finishing third on the team in goals, fourth in points, first in shots, third in game winning goals, third in powerplay goals, and leading the forwards in hits and blocked shots. The upcoming season will see Belle's final year in the VHLM start with the Halifax 21st. Legionary of the Year #88 Harry Callahan @dstevensonjr Harry Callahan wins the Legionary of the Year award for the sixth consecutive season, continuing to receive support from his teammates. Others receiving votes: Andrew Skilton, Walter Fitzroy Jr. Three Stars Award #88 Harry Callahan @dstevensonjr Player 1st 2nd 3rd Star Points Total Stars Harry Callahan 13 6 8 590 27 Dalkr Vidarsson 8 7 4 420 19 Diego Machado 4 7 6 320 17 Kyle Toms 2 3 3 150 8 Mikko Borisyuk 1 4 2 130 7 Andrew Skilton 2 1 4 120 7 Bobby Bob 1 3 2 110 6 Wayne Shotzky 2 2 1 110 5 FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY Analfist 2 1 1 90 4 Walter Fitzroy Jr. 2 0 2 80 4 Gul Dukat 2 0 1 70 3 Dorji Khan Toddly Bobbly 1 0 0 1 3 0 60 20 4 1 Callahan's statistical season translated into the top of the leaderboard in the 3 stars race.
