  1. VHL DRAFT PROSPECT Vin Calia- Center Vin Calia, born in Long Island, New York, United States on March 7, 2001, is a 19 year old center who played in 34 games for the Yukon Rush of the Virtual Hockey Minor League. The left handed center stands at 6'2 and 219 pounds. He collected 12 goals, 16 assists for 28 points in the short time at Yukon. Calia, is the 31st ranked prospect and the 6th ranked center in this years Virtual Hockey League Rookie Draft, set to take place this weekend. In his short time with Yukon, Calia put on display what he's capable of offensively, however he did show some flaws defensively with a plus/minus of -19. His point production and how effective he was with passing the puck has caught the eyes of several General Managers in the VHL. Add to that his great work ethic, size and his leadership skills, and you have one of the top centers in the upcoming draft. Lets get a bit more into Calia's offensive tendencies. He shows a willingness to pass-first before putting the puck in the net. He also shows willingness to park himself right in front of the opposing goalie, using his body as a screen. This method allows him to finish rebounds and score goals off deflections. Calia plays the point well on the Powerplay using his passing skills to find the open teammate. He can also be planted in front of the net, like mentioned earlier. Defensively, though he has played well on the penalty kill by attacking the puck and having no fear in blocking shots, he often gets caught looking up ice and often loses his man in coverage. He needs to work on a bad habit of racing towards the offensive zone the second his team gains possession. Calia is a fast skater who still needs to work on his first step and acceleration. It takes him a few strides to really get going. He has good hockey sense and handles the puck well which gives him the ability to make plays. Calia is a no-nonsense, risk free hockey player. He has the abilities to be explosive and a game changer if he plays to his potential. The best comparison I can think of in the Virtual Hockey League at this time in Calgary's center Mikko Lahtinen. With his high ceiling and his great work ethic Vin Calia can be considered a safe pick in this weekends draft.

If not I liked History because I found it interesting. I hated English because I was always a slow reader.

  5. This weekend, we spent a day with draftee hopeful Vin Calia and saw how the center spends an off day prepping for what he hopes is a long and successful future in the Virtual Hockey League. At around 7:30AM, I wake up and go for a run with my yellow lab Gordon for an hour. I'll come home and have a good breakfast, usually fruit, bowl of cereal or some eggs. After breakfast, its a quick shower, then hang around and play a little VHL-Live on my Xbox One. At around noon, I'll head over to the rink for a skate. I'll work on my stickhandling, shooting, agility, you name it. After the two hour skate on the ice, its off to the gym for more cardio and some weights. Rest of my day would be living a normal nineteen year old life, lots of video games, You tube, Movies, and TV. I'll hang out with my boys occasionally but nothing crazy. A friends house, my apartment, shoot some hoops at the park, but no partying for me. I have a good core of friends that respect that. Might sound like a dull life for a nineteen year old but I'm looking long term and that's hearing my name announced on draft night by a VHL team. When that happens, that dull life will be worth it.

  7. 1. You get what you put into it. And I think I worked hard and should be drafted fairly early in the VHL draft. 2. No sir, we got hot at the end of the season and management made a ton of excellent decisions. 3. Always disappointed to lose but we were a huge underdog. I just wish we would have stole a game or two. 4.Minnesota and San Diego look like the teams to beat. 5.My NY football Giants. I love the team and season. 6.Nothing like a Hot Dog and Beer at a ball game or any sporting event.

  9. 1. The way our first line is playing, no doubt. 2. More ways to earn TPE and improve their player would help. 3. I can no doubt see @Zetterberg winning the contest. His work is awesome. 4. When I get my chance, I don't care who its with, I will play at 100% 5. I loved Goodfellas. It took place in the neighborhood I grew up in, its funny and violent. My kinda flick 6. I'm an Ice Cream guy!
  10. 1.I have all the confidence in the world in our management and the decisions they made this past week. I think it will work out for us in the long run. 2. I haven't been here too long but its Ray Shields who seemed to have the most respect in the locker room, so I'd have to go with Ray. 3. I'll once again go with Ray Shields, with his locker room presence. 4. He's been great for us. the first line forward with great offensive skills 5. From what the guys in the locker room say, Bennet played well and loved the experience. I hope to get an opportunity like this down the line. 6.To tell you the truth, I don't pay much attention to them and just focus basically on improving my game.
  11. Oh, I;m sorry. Its my first week.Still figuring how things run.
  12. Nineteen year old Vin Calia, was born and raised in Long Island, New York, where he was All County in both hockey and baseball in high school. He spent this last season on the ice at Quinnipiac University before signing with the Rush. You can expect a good work ethic out of Calia with the drive to improve his game. Good hands, good stickhandling with a knack to finding the back of the net. Shoots lefthanded and skates well with his defensive game improving with experience. Calia's physical game is a work in progress and would be considered his only weakness. He has the size and frame to play an aggressive forechecking style and will have to if he wants a taste of the VHL and make an impact in his current league, the VHLM. With experience, good coaching, a terrific work and drive to succeed, Vin Calia has the potential for a long career in the Victory Hockey League.
  13. I look forward to being a part of the team.
