  1. Russian Review: I'm Alexei Volkov from the Russian Review. I recently caught up with Menace Forward Vin Calia and he was nice enough to give me a few minutes of his time. AV: Thank you Vin, for giving me a few minutes of your time. VC: Not a problem. I have time before my flight takes off to New York. What can I do for you? AV: How was your rookie season? Everything you expected? VC: For the most part it was. There was a bit of an adjustment to living in Moscow and getting use to the Russian culture, but I caught on and adjusted rather quickly with the help of management and my fellow teammates. As far as on the ice, the game is so much faster then in VHLM. With Yukon I was a top scorer on my team and one of the better players in the league. Things didn't come as easy up here and I had to take a different approach to the game. AV: When you say a different approach, what are you referring too? VC: Playing style. Coach might ask me to pay attention to a different area one night then the next. For example if there's an agitator on the apposing team that will agitate our top players, I would take on the role of letting that agitator know he's not gonna get away that easy. This way the top players can avoid taking stupid penalties and avoid the Penalty Box. AV: 9 goals 15 assist. Do you think this is the norm , now that you've reached the big leagues? VC: Not at all. As the season went on my minutes grew and so did my offensive game. I expect even more growth next year. AV: How do you feel about how the team did this season? VC: I think the season went well. Everyone has a goal in the beginning of the season and that is to hoist the cup at the end of the season. Moscow was in a transition year and we had one of the younger teams in the league, yet me made a playoff run. This organization knows what their doing. I expect success every year from this team. AV: I wont keep you that much longer, just a couple of more questions. What will your off season be like? VC: Well, I'm headed back to the States to be relax and spend sometime with my family. Then I'll start conditioning and make my way back to Moscow a month before training camp. AV: Last question before I let you go and again thanks for your time. What to you is the best and the worst thing about playing in Moscow? VC: This one is easy. The worst thing about playing in Moscow is the weather. I grew up in New York and dealt with some cold weather but nothing like what I dealt with here in Moscow. it is definitely something you need to get use too. The best thing about living in Moscow is the beautiful woman. The long blonde hair and green eyes is definitely a distraction, but one that I don't mind. 510 words. (Media Spot for Week ending 7/26

  4. 1. I did. We are well coached and were ready for Helsinki. 2.It was. Both teams gave it all. 3.They were the better team but it was a learning experience. We’ll be better from this. 4. I like to win, but overall I liked how we clicked at the end of the season. This was a rebuilding year and we made the 2nd round. That says a lot. 5.Lot of growing pains. I’m used to being on the scoresheet every night. Hopefully next year is better. 6.I’m gonna discuss it with Victor and go from there.
  5. Is it showing up? I see it as a link

  6. I am having a hard time posting this damn Graphic. How do I delete a file? Its not working. I'm trying to delete the old bracket and place my new one.

  7. Moscow ended their regular season off on a high note by knocking of the Americans in New York by a score of 4-2. The win slotted The Menace into the postseason and will take battle against Helsinki tonight in Finland as the Victory Hockey League playoffs get underway. Moscow jumped out ahead getting an early power play goal from Dean Clarke, his 9th assisted by Aleelee Kiak. Late in the period Ryo Yamazuki II put Moscow up 2-0 with his 31st from Jacob Perry and Oskar Lagesson. In the 2nd period the Americans inched closer with an Acyd Burn goal, his 31st on the power play from Lance Flowers and Julius Freeman. In the 3rd, Moscow rookie Vin Calia netted his 9th by a beautiful pass Jacob Perry and Oskar Lagesson. Later on in the period, with New York on the power play, Owen Nolan scored number 40 on a perfect set up from Michael Gary Scott and Hugh Jass. But it wasn't enough as Henrik Zoiderberg shut the door on New York with the empty net goal, number 35 for him on the season , assisted by Vladimir Pavlov and Nate Telker. Its off to season two, the playoffs for Moscow. This is a much younger Menace team and will face a tough challenge in getting back to the Cup, but either way it will be a great experience for them and you never know.
  8. Hey bud, Did I do the bracket incorrect?

    1. Acydburn

      Acydburn

yes, it goes by conferences not overall standings.

      NA:

      Calgary vs Toronto

      Seattle vs New York

      EU:

      Riga vs Davos

      Helsinki vs Moscow

If you look at the standings in the index it will show you who is in each.

  11. Last night the Moscow Menace took advantage of the Prague Phantoms miscues with 3 power play goals to go on to a 4-2 win on the road. The Menace dominated the 1st period and the first of their power play goals was scored by Henrik Zoiderberg, his 23 from Nate Telker at 6:30. Four minutes later Aleelee Kiak put Moscow up 2-0 with his 9th , set up by Ryo Yamazuki II and Jacob Perry at 10:12. 2nd period was polar opposite with the Phantoms dominating the play. Three minutes into the period they cut the lead in half with a goal by Alex Pearson, his 10th from Cinnamon Block and Roll Fizzebeef. Midway through the period Prague pulled even with a Gary Tarantino goal, number 9, from Dagmar Havlova and Waolf Stannson Jr. The 3rd period was no different then the 2nd, except Moscow goalie stole the show saving all 13 shots he face and 38 of 40 in the game. Moscow capitalized on the power play with a Jacob Peery goal, number 6 from Vin Calia and Yamazuki II at 6:45. Menace put the icing on the cake at 16:24 with their third power play goal and again Jacob Perry set up from Dean Clark and Derek Erikkson. The win put Moscow over .500 with a 23-22-4 record. It was their 2nd in a row.
