Wow, could I really be doing something early for once? I did it late last season and forgot to post it on forums, so decided to be proactive this season with announcing captains. I'd also like to point out that the captain curse has been shattered, Idaho hasn't gone anywhere yet. First Alternate - Hard Markinson - @STZ I moved away from giving Steezy a leadership role last season since he was already the AGM, and technically Aurelian Moreau was the more veteran player. I've generally tried to follow the Moscow rationale of the most veteran/longest tenured players receiving the alternate/captain roles, and with some of our veterans heading out this offseason, it seems right to go back to the conventional practice. Markinson has proven to be one of the best defensemen in the league, and in a new look defense corps, his leadership will be valuable as the organization looks to him for defensive stability. Second Alternate - The Seabasstard - @Seabass Seabasstard returns for I believe the fourth season in a row of sporting the A, and he helped lead the team to the finals for the previous three seasons that he held the Alternate title. As our newly minted first line center and a consistent passionate voice in the locker room, it's only right for him to continue in this role as he willingly steps into larger roles within the team. Captain - Duncan Idaho - @OrbitingDeath There's really no question here, as Idaho returns with the C with proven success over the past three seasons that he's held it. Three time Boulet winner, three time EU champion, and three time cup finalist, the team goes as Idaho does. His skill and leadership has translated to franchise success, and we'll be relying on him to continue guiding the team towards the elusive championship the organization is looking for.

Yes that's definitely true, and I think there will be changes around the process next season. We're still working to create some kind of formal procedure for recreates to skip the VHLM draft, and this offseason's situation was handled solely by the M/E commissioners since the BoG and the league itself doesn't have a formal procedure yet. Hopefully we can have that done by next offseason so people are declaring for the draft and not just going into FA.

Fighting doesn't increase strength because it was added late and after we already had a bunch of other attributes that already hit strength. It's one of the easiest attributes to upgrade, and I'm honestly not even sure if it impacts fights at all. Stickhandling includes skating because you don't just stand in one place and stickhandle, you have to move while doing it. Deking is the one that involves DF in a small amount, since DF is considered to be an intelligence/positioning stat - therefore dekes are more skill involved and not just centered on speed/skating or even just puckhandling ability. Also DC is important than PC because DC gives you both DF and SK, while PC gives you DF and ST. SK is considered one of the core 4 attributes, while ST is not. So despite lower ratios on DC because it has two relatively important STHS attributes, it's still considered a bit more valuable than PC because it improves multiple key STHS attributes instead of just one as PC does.

VHFL is starting a bit later this season due to the implementation of hybrid attributes, as many players still do not have their TPE applied and builds set for the season. Due to this, expect VHFL drafts to begin on April 16th, at some point in the morning that day. As always, please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the updated VHFL rules. Unlike previous seasons when group manager selection has been randomized, I will be selecting group managers based on historical performance in the position. Seriously, check it out. It's a dope song for the meme metal lovers. - Overall the offseason is slowly drawing to a close, with only really the M draft remaining. Turns out some recreates were given the option to skip, and some of them decided to. I think it'll be nice to see how the M is impacted, if it'll be impacted at all with such a large draft class. On the flip side, will it actually help the E? I guess the details are still yet to come out, but it'll be interesting to keep an eye on. - Moscow was largely busy on two days, which was like day 1 of trading and the day before the draft. Made some big trades and unfortunately saw some great people leave the team, but we sorely needed the cap space along with getting a tad bit younger. We achieved that by bringing in players a season+ younger, and also some additional draft picks which paid off immediately in the S83 draft. - Speaking of S83 draft, we're thrilled to bring in Brandon, Lidz and Laner. Spoke about the draft from my perspective and how each pick went down on my podcast, so check that out for more information. It has timestamps this time! - Still waiting for training camp to open, and trying to keep an eye on builds across the league for VHFL purposes.
