1. Welcome to the kings (or welcome back for some of you). We are throwing a pitch in party, what are you bringing? I'm so happy to be back! I'm bringing enough burritos to fill an olympic sized swimming pool 2. For those of you who were drafted, are you surprised at your draft position. For those not drafted how do you feel about Chris Hylands going first overall? I have to admit, I was a little surprised being drafted 1st overall but deep down I knew @Motzaburger would put his faith in me. 3. What is your main goal this season? I want to be above point per game pace this season. 4. What do you think the Kings chances are this season? Things are looking up for the Kings, and last season is but a distant memory now! 5. The kings are looking for a new mascot, what do you think it should be? I think it should be a big taco. 6. Who are you picking as your training partner on the team this year? Are you kidding me? Of course Kamenov and I will be in the gym together for the whole year!

Honoured to be named Captain of the Mexico City Kings! ?????

Malmo -- Training camp for the Nighthawks commenced today and would you look at that, Chris Hylands was actually spotted in a gym for the first time this off-season. After being unfortunately spotted by a fan with a sharp eye on an embarrassing drunken, late night burrito run, Chris seems like he is finally getting around to putting in the hours expected of a highly sought after prospect. Showing up with his good friend Victor Alexei Kamenov, the two were in high spirits, laughing and joking, as they greeted fans that were eager to see the new draft picks in Malmo gear for the first time. Both players showed no signs of jet lag after a long flight from Mexico City and it was clear to see why General Manager Frostbeard has chosen to put his faith in these two youngsters. "I'm really happy to be here in Malmo. The city is great, the fans are awesome, and the entire team is top class from the executives down to the floor cleaners. Hearing my name get called by Frostbeard was one of the best moments of my life. Being able to be here with one of my best friends in Kamenov is just icing on the cake. I couldn't be happier right now". Chris really seems eager to prove Frostbeard was right to choose him, and, while he may have questionable off-season habits, clearly he is a talented hockey player on the right path to the top.

Had to do a logo swap for my VHL team!

I'm gonna go ahead and shift the blame from myself onto @Motzaburger

1. Who do you think is going to get drafted 1st overall in the VHLM and you do you think is going to go first overall in the VHL? Well I can tell you it isn't going to be me that's for sure! Probably Brandt if I were to guess. 2. What's the best part of the season for you? Playoffs for sure. Everybody's competitive edge gets brought out and everybody loves those win or go home games. 3. Do you have any summer/off-season sports you play to stay in shape? So far I haven't even looked at the gym. I should probably get on that. 4. How do you think the Kings will do next season? I think they're gonna be one of the top teams next season for sure. Either 1st or 2nd place I would imagine. 5. If each player got an individual goal song what would yours be? Boom Boom Boom Boom!! by Vengaboys 6. If/when you win a cup, how will you celebrate? I will be putting myself in to a burrito coma that will last for months on end.

Mexico City -- Late last night around 2:00am, a fan with a keen eye spotted what appeared to be a tipsy Chris Hylands leaving his favourite burrito place with what he described as, "a plastic bag absolutely FILLED with burritos!". This raises questions about Hylands' off-season commitment and if he is ready to step up and really become a great hockey player. Although the off-season officially started just last night, you would think Chris would avoid binging on burritos considering his #2 projected status right now. When we tried to reach Chris for a comment, we were unable to get a hold of him. Considering all the burritos and the time he was seen out, it's safe to say he is probably dealing with the consequences right now. Maybe this is just a one off thing, celebrating the end of a season, but it's common knowledge that Mexico City players have had an extended off-season having not made the playoffs. Who knows how many times Chris has done this! Maybe this is just the first time he was seen, nobody knows. More to come on this developing story.

Well, Viktor Alexei Kamenov formerly known as Thomas Moore revealed his Russian identity and it's about time we updated that signature of his:

Here we are in the off season between seasons 71 and 72, sitting with an upcoming prospect in Chris Hylands. We asked some questions about life in Mexico City, the upcoming draft and the VHL in general. We caught up with Chris at his apartment in Mexico City where he is staying during his downtime. When asked about the looming VHL Entry Draft, he was very coy stating "I'm really not sure where I'm going to end up. I've had a couple phone calls but nothing really major, I'm just trying to focus on what I can do to generate some interest". It was a somewhat tough season for Hylands this year, only managing 34 points in 72 games but he doesn't seem bothered by that fact. "My play speaks for it self, I think anybody that looks over me for low point production will be kicking themselves". Chris says he is a huge home body, not really getting out too much, but his favourite meal in the city is a huge burrito from a local burrito place. "Honestly, the thought of being around Mexican food all the time was a huge draw initially, because it really is my guilty pleasure". Off the ice Chris has struck up a friendship with the giant Thomas Moore, who recently revealed he is actually a Russian by the name of Viktor Alexei Kamenov. "Honestly I had no idea, because this guy has one of the thickest Canadian accents I've ever heard! He had the whole team fooled. It doesn't change how anybody feels about him, he is still our gentle giant", as Chris laughs. It's pretty clear to see that Chris is headed in the right direction and could turn out to be an asset for any team, but he won't let the hype get to his head. "Oh yea, I've heard what people are saying, but I really try not to read too much in to it. Things can change really fast around here". We're looking forward to hearing more from the upcoming draftee in the coming months.

Chris Hylands Mexico City Kings | | #13 RW | 6'0" | 175lbs Overview It was a bit of a tough year for newcomer to the league Hylands. Signed as a free agent going in to the season, Chris struggled tremendously off the start. Maybe he wasn't being helped by playing for the leagues worst team, but if the kid was really as good as people said, you would have expected him to put up way more points. However, if you look at things in context, Chris was the highest scoring RW on the Mexico City Kings this season. Putting up 16 goals and 18 assists, Chris appears to be a balanced player, but if you were to ask him, he would say he is a "shoot first" player. The majority of Hylands's points were scored in the 2nd half of the season, indicating that his production is trending upwards. It seems the scouts have taken notice as well, because at the time of writing this report, Chris Hylands sits at 2nd overall in the VHLM Dispersal Draft rankings, and 16th in the VHL Draft. All of the fundamentals of a great hockey player are possessed by Chris and he just needs to take the next step to become an elite winger for any team. Strengths Chris has a wicked snapshot that leaves his stick quicker than lightning strikes. Being a left handed shot coming off the RW can be seen as a disadvantage sometimes, but Chris doesn't let that phase him. He can pick any corner from almost anywhere on the ice and has been known to score from behind the goal line almost on a regular basis. Though he hasn't quite found the scoring touch in the VHLM yet(side note: he did have a 4 goal game this season), he used to score for fun in the minors and many scouts expect Chris to produce at the highest level once he settles in. Not only is Chris extremely valuable as a goal scorer, he is an excellent two way forward. You will never find Chris coasting back to the defensive zone, and it seems like his defensive IQ is almost better than his offensive IQ. He could easily play as a defencemen if he were just a tiny bit bigger, he's just that smart in the defensive zone. You can count on him to be one of your best penalty killers, he has absolutely no fear and will leave his heart out on that ice every shift. Not only that, but he is an offensive threat on the PK as well, having picked up 3 shorthanded goals this season alone! Just an all around, extremely reliable hockey player that loves to make the smart play, rather than the flashy play. Lastly, Chris possesses insane skating ability. He is extremely quick on his feet, but is also very powerful when skates. He is nearly impossible to catch when he gets going, and when he comes out of a battle with the puck he can get up to top speed nearly instantly with what seems like zero effort. He glides past defending players like they aren't even there and he is always winning loose puck battles just on pure speed alone. Weaknesses Chris seems to have a little bit of an attitude problem. His discipline is extremely low and he is always taking poor penalties. With the skill that he has, any time he spends in the penalty box is only hurting his team. He has a bad habit of mouthing off to the referees and getting unsportsmanlike conduct penalties on top of other penalties he's taken because of his poor discipline. One can only hope that this is a side product of Chris being extremely young but also extremely talented. If Chris can calm down his attitude and work on his discipline, he will be a stud player for years to come. Hitting the weights doesn't seem to be one of Chris's priorities because this guy has what seems like 0 strength. Corner battles are not what you want to send him in to because he is easily knocked over and it almost seems like he has terrible balance which is weird considering how fast he can skate. This is probably because he is so young, and you can reasonably expect him to get up to speed with the rest of the league pretty quickly once he starts to mature.

1. How is your off-season going? This is the weirdest off season ever with the whole stay at home situation. Mostly just trying to keep myself occupied, watching Netflix and playing video games. 2. Who do you think is going to go on to win the VHLM cup? I think Yukon is probably gonna take it. They were really good all season long. 3. If you went up right now, which VHL team would you want to play for? I'm not really sure to be honest, it would be kind of cool to play for the hometown Toronto Legion. 4. What are your goals for next season? I really want to establish myself as one of the top young players in the game. It's going to be tough but I have what it takes. 5. If you had to switch positions right now, what would you switch to? Once upon a time I was a goalie, so I think I would choose that. 6. Do you have any good youtube videos you've been watching lately? Do yourself a favour and look up PayMoneyWubby.

I'm here for some of the sweet sweet TPE ?

1. How do you feel about missing the playoffs? I was disappointed at first when we found ourselves in the basement of the league and stayed there most of the season, but we had a great group of players here and I could not have asked for a better team as a complete rookie. 2. Where do you see yourself landing in the VHLM dispersal draft? (or the VHL draft) Right now it's looking like I will be a mid to late 1st round pick. There are many players around my spot that play the same position but have the experience that I do not. 3. Who were Mexico's top players this season? I would have to say it was Rose, Moore, and MacBurn 4. What are your thoughts on the new "latecomer" TPE rules? I think it's a great change, and I only wish it would have come in to play sooner so I could have benefited from it! 5. What stonk are you investing in next week? I will be investing in some helth stonks 6. What's you favourite fast food restaurant and why is it McDonalds? I feel personally attacked by this question, however, you can't say no to those french fries!

Mexico City -- The curtain closed on S71 of the VHLM tonight, and there could not be a team happier than the Mexico City Kings. Managing to lose an incredible 60 games over a 72 game season it was truly a miserable year down in Mexico City. Although many had predicted the Kings to be in a rebuild this year, I doubt anybody saw a season this poor on the table. However, it was not all doom and gloom for Mexico City. The Kings have locked up 3 first round draft picks for the upcoming Dispersal Draft, and with the last place finish, they are in the lottery for the coveted #1 pick. Even though all 3 teams are weighted evenly, the Kings must feel like they deserve that #1 pick. A couple of rookies used their time in Mexico City to make great developments over the course of this awful season. We have Chris Hylands who sits at 4th on the prospective Draft list and Thomas Moore who is sitting at 11th on the list. It wasn't a completely wasted season, but it wasn't necessarily one the players will be telling their grandchildren about.

Trying to stop myself from doing the same shit every time but kinda hit a wall.
