TPE inflation; It’s the boogeyman that the league tries to ignore every few seasons until it becomes too much of an issue and we inevitably need to deal with it. Arguably that boogeyman has gotten bigger than ever before right now so this old grumpy man of the VHL is here to talk about it; mainly since I don’t have that sweet sweet simmer pay this week. Anywho, back in the day hitting 1000 TPE was a major milestone. Hitting 1500 was basically unheard of. Nowadays you’ll recognize that those numbers aren’t particularly difficult. I’ve got 2 seasons left and currently lead active players with 1350 TPE (a lead I expect @Victor to take back soon). Then you’ve got guys like @Beaviss with HHH being at 628 going into only their second season. It’s undeniable that TPE numbers have gotten a bit out out hand when you look at this in contrast to the futures I posted at the start. So what can be done about it? Realistically we have two options. The first is to lower the amount of TPE we’re giving out on a regular basis but realistically no one wants to receive less of something when they’ve gotten used to it. Governments don’t fight inflation by giving out less money right? The other option is to increase the update scale to make it harsher and thus make the TPE -> TPA conversion a bit rougher. It might make it seem harsh but at least then people would get the numbers they are used to without us having players that are finished their build and ready to fight depreciation in their 4th season like I was. Which is the answer? Hard to say. I lean towards the update scale but obviously both mean harder to update which people are going to complain about. As always though I leave it up for discussion, what do you guys think about our TPE inflation issue?

You could literally figure it out yourself. Just tag the group and then click on the tag, it shows everyone that has it. I'll even do half the work for you. @Award Committee Scratch the above, that's interesting, apparently it only shows people with that as their primary which is just Phil. In any case I'm willing to give you the list since it's not normally something we keep entirely private but I'm not going to do it just to watch you argue with them so can we be civil? Also the activity argument has basically always been invalid, as annoying as that can be sometimes. We vote for things based on merit, not member and always have. If member arguments were taken into account your buddy Boubabi wouldn't have Cornerstone in the HoF and I believe Ron wouldn't have won a couple of his awards. You're still picking and choosing what you care about to try and fit the metric that you chose it should have been voted on. No one is ever going to be 100% happy with the awards, especially when they are involved. I would have won the Kanou with normal voting (since I had the most first place votes) but I'm more than fine admitting that Pepper had a great run and deserves it as well. You deserved more consideration than the vote implies I don't deny it but that doesn't mean the consideration wasn't there; just ultimately they chose against you. You're acting as if it's outrageous and that Mars was infinitely worse than you when really he played on a slightly worse team which does inflate people's stats; it happens. Ultimately the committee didn't think the inflation was enough that the award wasn't deserved. You still had an amazing rookie season, go off and build on that instead of dwelling on a single award. I had a shit rookie season and am having a great career, it means nothing.

@gorlab you know exactly who you sound like right now and I’m going to tell you the same things I told him: 1. Demanding names so you can shout at them isn’t really proper. Though in this case it’s a member group, it’s not entirely difficult to figure out who’s in it. Still though. 2. I get that you’re upset but there’s proper ways to voice that and then there’s calling people retarded. Let’s try to keep on the first option shall we? Frankly I am surprised that one was an 8-0 and I think things were closer than the vote implies they were. You’re acting as if there’s no possible way anyone could have unbiasedly voted for Mars though which doesn’t make sense. We both know that you both had great seasons but ultimately it’s a subjective award and there’s a lot to consider. Cherry picking only the stats that work in your favour and pointing at them saying “look how dumb you were” doesn’t help your case any. Yes, your Points/60 was higher. However his overall points were higher, goals tend to rate higher than assists and he beat you there, had fewer PIM’s, more blocked shots, and more GWG. It’s easy to say “they just looked at x stats” but ultimately the ones they looked at are kinda major numbers. Like I said, I expected a closer vote given the number so but let’s not pretend this should have been some kind of runaway for you either.

Fong’s is a bit outdated I’d say as well. Haven’t skimmed through the rest enough lately to say for sure on the others.

As a FA I’ll admit it’s smooth as hell now to receive offers and stuff but I’ll admit the public spectacle is definitely gone. I imagine @Will could probably code something to create a FA page for each active FA and then GM’s could make their offers publicly in there like @hedgehog337 suggested. Even if they made them on the portal at the same time then it’s just up to the player to pick one. Its one of those things like VHLM signings where we may have oversimplified it too much. It’s all smooth and works well but it takes the show away from it which used to be part of the entertainment value.

What’s there is what we have. The guy who made it didn’t make most of our logos so it’s possible he went smaller than usual.
