I’m legit offering an entire game... Let the VHL guys that earned their spots enjoy it, the top prospects can have their own thing. It just won’t be on NHL 19.

For some of us that game only started at 10pm. Boy it would be nice if there was some kind of discussion we could join after the fact ?

If that’s your choice. There’s no rule that you have to sign for the extra bit of the season, people usually just do in order to get into a locker room and chat with people more or maybe help out depth wise in the playoffs. if you wanna hang out until the off-season and just get drafted that’s fine.

1 game isn’t a big deal. We could even use V2 just to show off how ridiculous it can be and have a crazy scoring affair haha. I don’t mind the idea but I think the VHL ASG should be reserved for VHL players and the VHLM guys who did well honestly deserve to not be shafted while 1 of them gets a game.

If we bring back top prospects it should be 1 game, same as before, and only for people in the upcoming draft, not those already drafted or a season ahead; again same as before. We didn’t eliminate the SST just to add a pile more simming right back in. I know 3 games isn’t a whole tournament but still. It’s more or less an all-star game, lets not make it into some big thing that it’s not. With the WC and the normal off-season stuff I’m going to be busy enough that adding even more simming (and also more days) just doesn’t make sense to me. I get people want sims but people also want non-burnt out simmers and fast off-seasons so we only have so many options. I think a singular display of the top draftees is more than fine.

We used to do a top-prospects game and honestly I’m willing to bring that back in STHS but doing the whole shebang that the VHL does for the ASG isn’t worth it to do twice, it’s just too much work. Juniors already get the WJC every single season which VHL players don’t have so I’d say there are plenty of extra games without needing an ASG as well.

Sorry about the ridiculously early sim. Not gonna have much time otherwise today so had to get it done.

The problem is that kind of mindset means anyone without the time to be on 24/7 gets basically only official stuff and posts only for TPE. I’ve always looked at the VHL as a community, not a game. That community feel doesn’t really exist on discord for me with everything jumbled together and conversations getting buried. The structure of the forum for me allows the community to thrive moreso than just to chat which is all I think discord should be, a fancy chat box. I think though that a lot of people look at the league more as a game than a community though. To them I guess it would make sense to have a place to play and a place to shoot the shit; I just fail to understand why they need to be separated. I do understand why people like one more than the other and both have their uses. I guess I just don’t understand why it’s become the norm to assume nothing can be posted if it’s not for TPE which seems to be the general assumption.

They do not.

I think a lack of using it and more people moving to almost exclusively discord actually makes this problem worse. With people only posting when it gets them TPE (more or less) that’s all the content you’re likely to see. You’ll never really discover anything though without using it or diving into different sub-forums. If people were posting more the split between interesting and not-interesting content would definitely be more balanced.
