You did but each prediction was only 0.5 and you got Bronze and the MVP wrong.

Technically it was a “third strike” which is why it was so severe. The logic was a first infraction would be 1 week, a 2nd would be a month, and a 3rd would be a full season. Not entirely terrible of an idea, minus that it was flushed out after I was “caught” (which again, the rules were fuzzy on). The issue was more that they decided (they being the mob that the announcement attracted, the blue team was actually aiming to be more lenient) since I had been caught with 3 sigs that counted as 3 infractions not 1. So I lost all 3 of those plus the full season. The VHL was the Wild West back then. This shit was announced without even having a punishment in mind and they basically let the masses decide it. By the time I even got home to defend myself the conversation was 18 pages deep and I was the Anti-Christ. Honestly I’m kinda surprised I stuck through it as well, kudos to @scotty (forgot he actually had an account on this forum, was just checking with the tag haha) for actually talking me into staying. I pretty much had thrown in the towel and said fuck it, if they want me out I’ll leave, but he dragged me back in. Took probably 5 more seasons to get most of the board back accepting me, another 6 maybe to cut the annoying jokes out. We were not a nice or forgiving bunch back then. Frankly I’m kinda glad the original board is gone these days because going back and reading that punishment announcement is actually disturbing how ruthless people were.

How about the fact that his stats were comparable to the other S1 HoF goalies despite having a season without updating? Sharpe was a scapegoat for the league; a bit of muscle flexing to prove they meant business. The model used to punish me has never been used since and likely never will be again.

The Blues and Raptors winning showcase this exact problem beautifully I would say. These are two teams winning their first ever championships, it should be huge. Back in the day each would have probably had 10 pages of discussion with basically live play by play. Instead what do we have? 2 posts, total. 1 of those being @CoachReilly complaining about a lack of Raptors posts. I get that it was in the discord but the game literally started at 10pm for me last night, I was long asleep before it was done. I could go scroll through the discord and see what was discussed (in a rambling and non-organized fashion) but there’s really no point adding to that conversation now because it’s over. Good topics on the forum used to last for days or weeks with 50+ different people all talking about the same thing. Now we have 2 major sporting events happen in the same week and we get absolutely no lasting discussion on the matter. I thought up the debate series and presented it to the VSN as a way of getting people talking, @Matt_O ran with it and did a great job IMO but clearly starting with this one made one big mistake: it asked people to discuss something on the forum without offering TPE for it. I just don’t get how the VHL can be thriving more than it ever has while also getting basically 0 discussion. Discord may be great for quick answers but it’s terrible IMO for any conversation that you actually want to have continue and that as an overall hurts the community. The forum is the lifeblood of the league, it shouldn’t be used as just a means to acquire TPE.

I’m legit offering an entire game... Let the VHL guys that earned their spots enjoy it, the top prospects can have their own thing. It just won’t be on NHL 19.

For some of us that game only started at 10pm. Boy it would be nice if there was some kind of discussion we could join after the fact ?

If that’s your choice. There’s no rule that you have to sign for the extra bit of the season, people usually just do in order to get into a locker room and chat with people more or maybe help out depth wise in the playoffs. if you wanna hang out until the off-season and just get drafted that’s fine.

1 game isn’t a big deal. We could even use V2 just to show off how ridiculous it can be and have a crazy scoring affair haha. I don’t mind the idea but I think the VHL ASG should be reserved for VHL players and the VHLM guys who did well honestly deserve to not be shafted while 1 of them gets a game.

If we bring back top prospects it should be 1 game, same as before, and only for people in the upcoming draft, not those already drafted or a season ahead; again same as before. We didn’t eliminate the SST just to add a pile more simming right back in. I know 3 games isn’t a whole tournament but still. It’s more or less an all-star game, lets not make it into some big thing that it’s not. With the WC and the normal off-season stuff I’m going to be busy enough that adding even more simming (and also more days) just doesn’t make sense to me. I get people want sims but people also want non-burnt out simmers and fast off-seasons so we only have so many options. I think a singular display of the top draftees is more than fine.

We used to do a top-prospects game and honestly I’m willing to bring that back in STHS but doing the whole shebang that the VHL does for the ASG isn’t worth it to do twice, it’s just too much work. Juniors already get the WJC every single season which VHL players don’t have so I’d say there are plenty of extra games without needing an ASG as well.
