Hello @Members! If you’ve been keeping your eyes on the events page you’ll know that it’s time for theme week! Of course, that also means that the Trade Deadline is Monday, December 12th at 3pm EST. This also means that anyone wishing to re-create for the S88 draft can do so starting at midnight that same day. --- Most of you aren’t here for that though are you? You just want that sweet sweet theme week TPE. So, for this season, we've decided on a theme of: That means of course anything related to a first gen. Maybe you want to profile one, maybe you want to offer suggestions for how to make things easier on them, maybe you are one and want to talk about your experience so far. It’s all up to you, just make sure that you’re not doing anything for someone too experienced and you’re good to go! To earn your Theme Week TPE, write an article, create a graphic, or record a podcast with some connection to “First Gens”. --- In order to claim the theme week bonus of 6 Uncapped TPE, simply submit your Themed PT (Graphic, Media Spot, or 6-TPE Podcast), and claim it as normal. After claiming the PT portion, you can use the same link, and claim the uncapped portion as follows: Claim Uncapped > Other > Doubles Week. (Note: you do not need to post your link in this thread to claim either portion of TPE). Make sure to tag your articles with “theme week” so we can collect all the great work in one easy-to-find spot. If you have already submitted a Point Task for this week, or are in the midst of claiming a multi-week Media Spot/Podcast, you may still submit a Theme Week PT this week, and claim the capped portion on the next available week, following your multi-week claim. Also, if you have a single job that pays 6+, you may claim the theme week bonus as long as you complete your duties for the week. If you are in the EFL or SBA and have completed their most recent Media Week, you may use that to claim the Uncapped theme week bonus, but a PT must be completed this week in order to claim the Capped portion, whether that is completed here or through Affiliate Welfare. Note: Only players who are S87 or older may claim the theme week bonus. @VHL GM @VHLE GM @VHLM GM

Welcome to the VHL, StoneWallGoalie077! We're happy to have you. You should have received a PM with some more detailed information, but to get started quickly you will want to head over to the "How to Create a Player" topic. That topic will offer you detailed information about how to use the VHL Portal to create your player and get you started. We also highly recommend joining the VHL Discord where there is a channel dedicated to helping new members with any questions that they may have about the league or improving their player. Once your player is made VHLM General Managers will be in touch with you about joining their teams. In the meantime, please feel free to ask any questions you have here or in your create-a-player thread. We're happy to have you in the community and we hope you stick around!

VHL Holiday Charity Auction call for items: 2022 Edition
Beketov replied to Acydburn's topic in Announcements
My wife found an old family recipe a few years back for homemade eggnog so full of booze that we were having to cut it with the regular stuff. I wear it was just rubbing alcohol with a bit of egg in it. If I recall the punch bowl sized serving contained over 4 quarts of different alcohol varieties. All I can assume is the person writing down the recipe wrote quart but meant pint because there’s no way it should have been that strong. -
Just think of it like you already got them.

Love the line. Would work better syllable wise as just “Bek’s been earning”. The original is two syllables so it’s kinda awkward no matter what but three syllables there just doesn’t quite work. In general better than I would expect. People really do have a tendency to underestimate how tough it is to come up with something like we didn’t start the fire.

Was just missed in the off season I guess. This is why we request GM’s check their rosters before season start when the indexes go up. This should have been resolved at that point instead of just playing him out of position. Anyway it’s fixed now.

VHL Holiday Charity Auction call for items: 2022 Edition

I will be putting forth a couple of stretch goals again that aren’t strictly auction items but will be potentially hit depending on our fundraising. I’ll announce specifics when we open everything up. -

As I said, I’ll update them soon. Didn’t have time to at the time and wanted to get this out. The word counts and stuff haven’t changed, just the descriptions, so just follow the OP.

Always nice to pick up two wins, including a shutout. Even better to do it against the reigning champs.

Anyone after S80 has a 9 season career. If you spend a season in the VHLE then you have 8 in the VHL, etc. So if you skipped the VHLE you'll have a 9 season career. This has been the case since the VHLE was implemented. Since the expectation is most people will spend a season in it we added an extra career season.
-
Was wondering how long it would take you haha. One of the trade offs ultimately of getting a 9 season career, you lose out on that one career task.
-
Didn’t want to presume you’d be on to update that but this works haha
-
I’m going to say no. As that replaced the Junior Review it would have had to be done before you got past the VHLE anyway so either the task was “already complete” or you weren’t available to get it at this point anyway.
-
I feel like we tried that before.

Berocka: the shadow BOG

@Members A few seasons ago, and by a few I mean like 15 or so I think, we re-worked the career point tasks because league surveys showed that people were interested in having more tasks valued lower rather than 2 large tasks valued higher. People also wanted some extra meaning behind the tasks, themes if you will, since the old Rookie Profile and Bio had become basically the same thing. On the whole this change was well received but the amount that the new tasks have been completed has been, shall we say, lackluster. Despite having full careers come and go within the new system for example not one person (as of when we got our data anyway) had completed a bio. Therefore the @BOG set out to re-tool the career point tasks again to try and hopefully give them a bit more of a spark. On the whole these changes aren't as large as the last overhaul, more of a tweak than anything else, but should hopefully make the tasks less spread out (since fewer people di the later tasks) and less specialized to specific time periods. Additionally we are adding, for the first time in the VHL, the ability to podcast (10 minute minimum) your career tasks which should hopefully produce a bit of diversity. The lengths and TPE payouts will remain the same and the new tasks will go into effect immediately (more details on that at the bottom of this post). The new task layout is as follows: As I said, these go into effect immediately so what does that mean for current players? Rather than blocking them until X season like we did (confusingly) last time we have decided to go for the easy route this time. The tasks are open to everyone immediately (the rubrics will be updated soon) with a few small caveats: 1. If you have not already claimed a bio you can write one any time before the end of your career; you no longer need to wait to your 8th season. 2. Veteran Presence has been formally removed; therefore if you have not claimed a VP already you can claim a Career Reflection in it's place. If you have claimed a VP then that is considered the same thing and cannot he claimed again. 3. In the same vein as above, Hello Europe is officially replacing Junior Review. Therefore if you previously completed a Junior Review you are ineligible to complete Hello Europe even if you remain in the VHLE. If you are still within the VHLE and did not claim a JR you may claim Hello Europe. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Maybe I’m just overtired but I’m not sure I follow. How does having it update on the forum side automatically make it any easier? Saves loser some time I guess but doesn’t make it any easier to find your name does it? It’s far more work to set up, especially with Josh currently away (I already tagged him once today for this, no reason to do it again) but a portal implementation would surely be a cleaner solution. Much like trivia really. Beginning of the week Loser sets the questions up, can even still go tag those that want the tag every time. Once set users just make their selections on the portal instead of Google forms and then at the end of the week the correct answers are plugged in and anyone that had it right is automatically awarded the TPE. No giant tag list to claim from, no updater involvement needed, less work all around. With that said I believe that has been our eventual goal for awhile now, implementing it is a bigger issue mind you.

Honestly most of the filters just come from staff getting annoyed at people saying the same things over and over so we filter it into something comical. I assume that’s the same for the circus monkey.
