  1. My Rookie Season This rookie season has been interesting, being a late first round pick I was inserted into an extremely well run organization with plenty of great players. While it has been great to be able to go directly to the VHL it has been a challenge since it was not like I was a superstar on the VHLm level. In the VHLm I would barely score and my impact on the ice was practically even on one of the better teams in the league. Scoring early in my rookie season has been amazing as my confidence has exceeded the levels of which I had in the VHLm. While I am currently scoring at a rate of one point every five games, I would consider that as a major success compared to the level I was at in the VHLm. My expectations are somewhat exceeded by my current performance! What I am really looking forward to is my development throughout the rest of the season. I wholly expect to grow even more this season than the current point that I am at. While my expectations were lower in the beginning of the year, I could see towards the end of the year that I could be pushing the pace of potentially registering a point every three games that I play in. My current output came in bunches -- and I was able to be named as the first star of a game. Currently I am a plus 6 and I was higher than that earlier on, I expect other teams to catch up to us and make it harder for the guys on the final few lines. Although this has been fairly optimistic, I am pessimistic regarding how many of my goals could potentially be hit. Although I do expect to be generating more chances, I know it will be truly difficult to see a significant raise in my output given my smaller sample size due to playing time. In addition, I am playing out of position and rarely taking face-offs which means my positioning has been off nearly all year. While I would have loved to have been playing my main position, potentially playing on the wing the first season or two can help me focus on developing rather than dealing with the main offensive threats of the other teams' day in and day out. As a whole, this rookie year has been interesting thus far and I am intrigued to see my growth in the future!
  2. Waiting On Myself The start of the season was much better for myself than this difficult middle stretch. It seems to be that every stride I take is more and more difficult. The physicality of the VHL is one that cannot be described easily, and coming in as a generally feeble rookie I have to continue to train to even compete with these top athletes and the day to day is draining. Having registered only one point lately, it is quite apparent that the struggles exist. In addition, my plus/minus has plummeted and it is a cause for concern as to how I will continue to get ice time and not be a detriment. At the end of the day however, it is only my rookie year and I have plenty of more years to turn into the star that I can be in the VHL. It is imperative that I continue to push forward and train. Soon I will be the veteran who gives rookies nightmares and is the reason the season moves slow to them. Under guidance from Beavis' and the other presences in the locker room, I expect the best out of myself long-term and want to prove those who skipped over me in the draft wrong.
  3. Been seeing how your work has been progressing since the SBA days... This sig is a little too dark, maybe work down the gradient. I love the lighting on the goalie to draw the eyes as well. The text placement looks bad, it seems like it's really just slapped there. 7.5/10
  4. The most typical VR sig possible, love the splash effects around the render, and the text is extremely strong. You do an amazing job with the color scheme and the render is extremely HQ. I really cannot think of many critiques other than maybe how the background is a little simple? But even then the point of it is to draw your eye towards the render. Great work 10/10
  5. G - Calvin Harvey sorry bout that D_A @fishy

  9. Zolnek's First Week Finally, my first week in the VHL has arrived after a relatively short wait due to the VHLm playoffs. Coming to the big leagues despite thinking I would spend another year in the minor leagues made things even more difficult. I wanted to spend another year in the VHLm but, sadly I guess, I trained too hard to stay there. Despite thinking I was ill-prepared for the VHL, it turns out that I am performing nearly as well in the VHL this year as I did last year in the VHLm (until the playoffs). When thinking about development, playing time and results are primary drivers towards activity and thus I was slightly skeptical of how I could keep things up, however given the competitive nature of the Wolves and how I am performing better than I had thought, I am actually very interested in nearly every game that occurs and love seeing my impact. With two points in 11 games I am doing better than last year where it took me nearly 30 games to register my first point. In addition, registering a +5 through 11 games has been extremely interesting and fun to be on the winning side of the puck. Hopefully the bounces keep going our way and the second week is as good as the first.

  14. Ready For My Rookie Year Well... this really somewhat came out of nowhere. I did no expect to be in the position to be called up to the VHL so soon, however since there was plenty of time to train I was deemed ineligible for the VHLm and could not experience the joy of not being a bottom line forward. I expect a similar role in my first season in the VHL, and truly expect it to be a difficult adjustment in the major leagues. My performance in the playoffs definitely indicated that my potential is there and that I can be an impact player, however without a full season sample size my confidence could falter without truly being a star at any level as a hockey player in this career. As a whole, I have to be reasonable and set attainable goals for my rookie year. I know I will not be seeing a ton of playing time, and I know I lack the talent to be a true impact player. I just have to stick my nose down, keep working and know that in a few seasons I will be as good in the VHL as I could have been in the VHLm this year.
