  1. As long as we keep beating other conference competitors, I'll be happy
  2. I love how real world Dollar is complimentary to Quebec and says how he misses it, and sim-player Parechkin goes, "Nah, fuck that, here's 4 goals." The sim's good for narratives like that.
  3. Riga -- In Game 35, the Riga Reign outshot the Toronto Legion 35-20, but the Legion were still able to pick up the victory 3-0. How so? It was another spectacular performance from Hans Wingate, who has been on fire since, ironically, leaving the Reign. With the victory, Wingate picked up his eighth win in eight games, and already his second shutout on the season. Interestingly, though, the game puts Wingate at another round milestone: 50 shutouts. Entering the season, Wingate was tied with Hall-of-Famers Daisuke Kanou and the recently inducted Brick Wahl with 48 shutouts, good for eighth on the all-time list. With this shutout and one against Cologne, though, Wingate is now alone in eighth. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that Wingate could be sixth in shutouts all-time by the end of the season. After all, seventh-place Satan has 51 shutouts to his name, and sixth-place Aidan Shaw has 52. Past that, however, it may be a climb to get into the top five as he enters the twilight of his career. Fifth-place Tuomas Tukio has 62 shutouts; Alexander Labatte leads all goalies with 69. To reach the 70 mark, Wingate would need 20 shutouts in his final 120 games, or an average of one shutout every 6 games. "I have to say it would be cool to at least reach the top five, just because I'm a student of the VHL and its history," Wingate told reporters after the Riga game. "And if I challenge Labatte, CAL G or Szatkowski [tied in second at 68], that would be even better. I'm just along for the ride, man, and every day I get to play is fun for me."
  4. I think it's possibly a thing of the draft classes you're competing with as well. Seasons 42-44 guys aren't around to dominate with some exceptions, and there were very few GM players from those times as well (just McJustice now, since Advantage and Flyersfan retired their guys early). Expected top-tier players either went inactive (Muffins, Ahma), mostly-inactive (Jamie, D_A), or retired early (Boom, Solas). Just a run of bad luck that opens up spots for younger guys, particularly at not-goalie, to do better.
  5. As much as I'm not a Bushito fan, those streaks do seem a bit disingenuous considering that he built both the S31 Davos (before he was replaced midseason) and S43 Seattle (before he was replaced right as the season began) cup teams.
  6. Eh. So what's stopping me/everyone at staying at 199 TPE until the day the VHLM season starts, then really maximizing my TPE that final VHLM season and still have 8 VHL seasons? And how do you manage the players who never make it to the VHL, or don't make it there until later in their careers (like a Zeptenbergs, who was created S41 and drafted S42 but wasn't up until S44)? I'm also against removing any sort of cap, but don't have much to add to a discussion so carry on.
  7. Wingate is on this earth specifically to torment Riga in all ways. It is known.
  8. Also, can we get the VHL button under the banner to be S49 instead of S48? Would make me super happy.
  9. And this one... I'm good with the offense, thanks.
  10. Man, I do not know how those shot attempts happened, but happy I was here.
  11. Also don't like at all, for many of the reasons stated here. For someone who writes quickly like me, I would 100% crank out a 5,000 word "Big Brother" season, post it all at one time in like 600 word segments, and profit. There's nothing stopping me from doing that now, sure, but it at least promotes consistent activity throughout the season.
  12. Now that's good Wingate, 13 saves in OTs. And DAV C2 is my hero, and if he doesn't get Breakout Star consideration I'll be angry.
