  1. We got ourselves a series. Yet another one that goes 7?
  2. Yeah I get that, I'd just be surprised if someone who didn't get to the finals won it. Still a hell of a playoffs though.
  3. Helsinki -- The semifinal between HC Davos Dynamo and the Helsinki Titans was not without controversy, with Titans goalie Markus King being held for ransom during Game 2 before being returned after the game. What was not controversial though? The beatdown given by Davos, and specifically Gabriel McAllister, in Game 7. The Dynamo won that one 7-4, and McAllister in particular had one of the best games of his career: 3 goals, 3 assists, 8 hits, and naturally, the first star. In total, McAllister has 9 goals and 8 assists in 9 games these playoffs, and if the finals ended today, he would likely be the leading candidate for Playoff MVP. "Davos took a chance on me last offseason, and I wanted to show them they made the right choice," McAllister said. "To get to another finals is great, of course, but to do it the way I did feels special." Currently, the finals series is split 1-1. Most people believe Calgary to be the favorite in the series, but McAllister warned not to count out Davos quite yet. "I've been to the finals as a 3 seed before. I've won it all as a 4 seed. Anything can happen when it's a short series, I just hope we're able to be the ones on top."

  5. Oooh, Game 7! Figure this makes sense given how close the top four were all year.
  6. Lol, didn't notice that. Better than Markus King anyway...
  7. Alright, at least made it 1-1. Wouldn't be surprised if this series went 7, two close games to start.
  8. Instead of 2/3, which has always seemed pointless to me. But I also wrote that before knowing this was actually Best of 7 - think Best of 5 is best IMO
  9. I do appreciate you making this round Best of 5 though, makes so much more sense
  10. Davos -- When Gabriel McAllister started his VHL career, he envisioned he'd be nothing but a pure scorer. Through his entire VHLM career and during his first two years in the VHL, he put absolutely zero work into his Checking and Strength abilities, and it showed with just 19 hits in his second season. Goals were always the priority for McAllister. So naturally, he just set the VHL record for most hits in a single season. It's certainly not something McAllister ever saw himself doing, but he'll certainly take it. With 461 total hits, he absolutely smashes the previous record of 441 hits set by (Davos's own) Simon Valmount, to say nothing of his own previous high of 292. The high hits total is perhaps even more perplexing by the fact he hasn't maxed out his Checking and Strength training abilities. "I mean sure, I'll take it," McAllister said after a recent practice. "I didn't really start working on my hitting ability until recently, and I never thought of it as the most important part of my game. But it's certainly something I take pride in, and I'm happy to have the record." Whether the record will translate into something more, such as a Top Two-Way Forward or even an MVP trophy, remains to be seen. For now, McAllister is focused on beating the Titans in the semifinals of the VHL playoffs.
  11. Lol, 19 shots. I wanted that 50 goal mark badly apparently
  12. (Completely independent of Kendrick, but Boubabi was positively horrible following your last departure. Racist bullshit, low blows about people's families including Kendrick's, constant fights. It doesn't have to be an either/or proposition, both can be shitty for the league to have around, just saying the direct comparison may not be entirely apt.)
  13. FWIW, I'll be recusing myself from the discussions on this one same way I did last year, but would like to point out Keaton Louth's also probably worth a look for a lot of the same reasons - leading Calgary in goals by a good amount, tops in the league in plus/minus, second in points per 20.
  14. Huh. Well that's certainly not something I expected. That's supposed to be the difference between MVP and Most Outstanding Player though - the former takes into account how important they were to their team, while the latter is just stats.
  15. Not the biggest deal, but a reminder to watch out for goalie starts @Will ( @Spade18 @Beaviss @Higgins ) (Though Beaviss is getting married and shit so may just need to put in QUE G)
