  2. Please fire off a couple of examples. I can see from that if I have the skills/time/inclination to pursue this. I do appreciate your effort and pro bono direction in this very worthwhile project.
  3. letters to the editor maybe ????
  4. Will there be a venue whereby you accept contributions from the general public? The requirements mentioned above sorta cuts out most of us...ya know
  5. Thanks. Much appreciated. I am always a little reluctant to let my RL persona escape.....

Could it be because he is retired ??

  8. Isau’s Vacation Destinations When thinking about this article I realized how long it has been since I was able to feel that warm sand on my bare feet, able to swim in warm salt water, able to walk for miles on sun drenched beaches and able to sip an adult beverage or two by the pool. Here, in the North, it seems to be winter for more than 50% of the year. It was -21 C this morning and the thoughts of a southern vacation had already entered my mind. I have a number of places I like to visit and to which I would like to return. In no particular prioritized order: Mexico We have always liked Mexico. The food is great and the people are welcoming. Spanish can be a bit challenging, but people appreciate it when you try to speak their own language even though your efforts are rudimentary at best. Frequently you will get a good-natured on-the-spot Spanish lesson. The beaches are great. Of course there are always a number of other things to see and do. We petted Gray Whales in Bahia Magdalena (West Coast of Baja Mexico) Mexico is filled with history and cultural and geographic diversity. If I could, I would be on a plane today. St. Lucia St. Lucia is a small Caribbean island in the Windward Island group. It is situated between Martinique and Barbados. St. Lucia is mountainous, so the beaches, although quite nice, are small by way of comparison to other Carribean islands. St. Lucia is an English island, yet has historical overtones of French and Spanish occupation. The island has a very low crime rate and less than 1% unemployment (in 2017). The Pitons, located near the town of Soufiere are a world heritage site and provide excellent hiking/climbing opportunities. St. Lucia also has a live volcano. But, have no fear, there hasn’t been an eruption since 1766. St. Lucians have a special affinity for Canadians because, back in 1974, Canada donated the island’s only secondary school to the people of St. Lucia. Even now, the student uniform is the red and white of the Canadian flag. Scotland The last vacation that I will mention here is different than the sand-beween-the-toes type. A trip to Scotland is about culture, history and mysticism. The large cities of Scotland are just that….large cities. So I decided to press further North to where the clans lived and built many of their castles. Most of the castles were damaged by the British in the 1700’s. But have bee partially restored by the Scottish government. One of my favourites has been seen in a few movies. It is called Eilean Donan. You will probably recognize it. I visited Eilean Donan on my way to the Isle of Skye. Skye is an island that lies just off the Scotland’s west coast and is said to be mystical. To give you an example, I climbed into an area called the Quiraing to take this photo. Scotland’s culture is front and center at every turn. On my arrival in Portree, the capital of Skye, an iteration of the Highland Games broke out !! I felt a particular connection to Scotland as my DNA is in the very soil of the country. In conclusion I would like to point out that 6 of the 7 pictures shown here are original. Thanks very much for reading this and I hope it didn’t come off too much like a travelogue. It is very difficult to capture the emotion of such vacations in words and pictures, but I hope I gave you some sense of what I felt. Word Count: 609 Claiming week of Feb. 28 and Theme Week
  9. So, to me, a lot depends on the type of persona you want to create. For example: A tougher player...a little rough around the edges = Crusty McDangle For a more timid type = Wilt D. Flower
  10. 1. We haven't done so hot the last couple sims. Do you think we can turn it around? We seem to blow hot and cold. Recently ( Feb. 1) we lost a close one to Moscow, then two games later, got a win from the Titans. We just seem to lack consistency, but, I believe that will come with experience. 2. If not this season, in how many seasons will we make the playoffs? And when will we win our inevitable cup? I think that we could conceivably get to the wild card spot this year if the Hockey Gods smile on us. It would be close though. Realistically, I see us making the playoffs next season, as we will have some 500 - 600 TPE players by that point. Season 78 should be our year, and likely the season after that as well. 3. How has your player done this season? What good has happened? I am satisfied with Isau’s performance thus far. He is trucking along at about a point per game. A shout goes out here to @hedgehog as he has organized things so that most everyone gets plenty of ice time and, thus, more opportunity to excel. As we all develop our skill sets the wins will come. 4. Do you have a favourite pre-game meal? No really. It has to be a high protein meal, and, yet, light. So chicken fish and a bunch of green stuff works for me. 5. Is Among Us dead yet? I must really be out of it because I had to do some research to see what “Among Us” was about. 6. Who would you say is the VHL MVP right now? Mikko Latinen seems to be expanding his lead in the scoring race, so, my vote would be for him as MVP. 7. What is something not many people know about you? There are alot of things that people don’t know about me. That is the beauty of the anonymity of the Internet. 8. Would water flavoured ice cream taste good? Water flavoured ice cream is called ice. And ya, it's good, particularly when it is added to an adult beverage.
  11. What is pictured is the Riga Cathedral in the Old Town.
  12. hahaha....I like the Torts-style ending.
  13. Keep on truckin' !! You are getting 20+ minutes of ice time per sim including time on the PP and PK. Eventually it will all fall into place. None of us are doing particularly well. Thus our dismal place in the standings. I guess it is to be expected as we are in the early stages of a massive Riga rebuild !!

  15. 1. After getting Calvin Harvey back in nets, we finally won some games. Where do you see us finishing in the standings? I don't see us finishing very high. There are too many European teams that have some very high TPE players. The playoffs are not out of reach, but it would take a Herculean effort. Calvin Harvey certainly makes a difference. We can ride his good play until the end of the season. 2. What's your favorite flavor of Gatorade? Yuck!!! I don't drink Gatorade....reprocessed sweat....and tastes like it too. 3. Who do you think will win the Continental Cup this season, based on the standings right now? In North America, Vancouver and Chicago are opening up some space from the other teams. However, in Europe, the top four teams are separated by 3 points. I think the winner will eventually come from Europe, but right now things are too tight to call. 4. Give a shout out to one of your teammates who's been doing great so far! Gotta shout out to Calvin Harvey with his 0.926 save percentage @Mrpenguin30. As well, Linus Zetterstrom @Ledge_and_Dairy has been chipping in with a lot of helpers. 5. If you could rename us, what would the new Riga team be called? The Riga Rogues. Because I like the sound of it and it makes the team seem a little on the wild side. 6. What would be the best animal to have as your pet? Dog for sure. I like their loyalty. They also take their jobs (whatever that might be) seriously.
  16. Hmmmm....there may be a little red stuff on the ice...
  17. Ya, that's what I get when I cut and paste from Google Docs. Then I can't unbold. So I get what I get. Thanks for the input though. It is appreciated. The reason for the length of the interview was that this was supposed to be like a fireside chat....or and in-depth piece. Then I got carried away with Nikki Starr's stories which are embarrassingly true. Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent.
  18. How are they seasoned...and why "gray" ? ' Ohh...wait...the peas and bacon are cooked together ????
  19. Ahhh...lets see...gray peas is a menu itme....?????? and bacon...well...I just love bacon !!
