  1. Time for a new thread! I am running through the VHLM with Primary and Clash jerseys for each team. I decided to avoid the classic home and away standard jerseys for the soccer-style primary, clash, and alt jerseys. Teams will wear their primary uniforms unless it is too similar to the home team's colors, and the away team will pick their clash or alternative sets. It always annoyed me that we don't have more color-on-color matchups or relegating a team's white/light uniform to be worn away from the home barn exclusively. First up is the Halifax 21st! The Marquette style pattern is extrapolated from the life preserver on the primary logo. The pattern is made of ice blue (from the alt logo), dark navy, and royal/white. I tried to keep the rest of the jersey simple since the pattern is busy enough. The captains 'C' is taken from the nautical alphabet, and the 'A' would be as well. I will try to avoid creating too many laced jerseys, but it fits with the alt logo too well to not use it. Inside the collar is "Most Excellent Citizens" honoring Eswyn Lyster's book and the WW2 war-brides that came through the 21st pier. Thanks for lurking and C&C is always welcome!
  2. 1.) Did you know the average person laughs 13 times in a day? Do you think you laugh on par with the rest of the word? More? Less? I would find it hard to believe that I don't double the average person if not more. The more I mature, the more I realize not to take things too seriously and to enjoy life. Humor is very much a medicine, and one you can't overdose on. 2.) Referring back to question one, What is your sense of humor like? What type of humor, makes you buts a gut or or crack a wry smile? I think (key word is think) my humor spans the gamut from physical to snarky to dark. The more ridiculous I can be, the better. 3.) We are now well into the season and it is time for me to ask the age old staple question of how do you think your player is doing? I should be happier because my only expectation was not be a liability year 1 but after seeing how Vick has played, I would like to see more consistency. The defensive pair on my line are so amazing at playmaking that they may be getting the assists I thought Vick would generate. 10.) Hockey Players Travel a lot for work, especially in our league. Do you enjoy the travel and do you like to do it in your spare time for fun or are you a homebody? I am a wierd mix of both. For vacation, I love to travel and see new places but when I am in my hometown, I spend the majority of time at home. 12.) What’s a saying you say a lot? “If you run into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole. If you run into assholes all day, you're the asshole.” 13.) respond to the .gif below with another one:
  3. Glad to see that you are doing what is best for you, Prout. It's not easy at the best of times and I'm proud to see you were able to do it now. If you need anything at all, please know that we are all here for you
  4. Same thing, different league. Here are the VHLM ones: https://imgur.com/a/ocusHz9
  5. Review: This is a really clean design you have here. I appreciate the less is more approach with the font because if it isn't very legible, what is the point? My critique to the font would be to lower it a bit so that it takes up the space below his arm, that way you could have a different colors to differentiate the parts of the info and it won't over lap. I always appreciate an attempted logo swap and it works. Next time, try to skew it to match the jersey perspective a bit more and also fade it to look more natural. 8/10
  6. Review: Hey Telkster! It is great to see how your skills have progressed. I like the composition of this, especially with faded logos between the namebar and the player cutout. The namebar is great with the team coloring and the signature-like font. Those logos below it could be a touch smaller to leave a bit more space between everything. The background is a lot of fun, if a bit too low res. Your player cutouts are getting way better and the logo swap attempt was valiant. You might want to actually blur the logo on the jersey to make it match the original one a little better. I know you aren't using photoshop so all considering, this is really stellar. 8.25/10

  8. Update 1/23: My first ever graphic series is coming to a close. It is crazy to look back at my work from 3 months ago and see how it has changed in such a short period. I am so grateful to have found the VHL. It such a great community, and these PTE tasks have renewed my passion for graphics and sport aesthetics. I can't wait to start on my jersey concepts and see what other projects I can create for the forums. Now on to the mask. I was going to make a Sasky mask as my second concept, but my idea was beyond my skill level at that point, and I couldn't be happier that I saved it for last. The mask brings together the 80's style face-hugger mask, with the late '90s to early '00s open mouth animal logo and the now required city skyline. The logo got a little cartoon in the proportions, and I think it's for best. C&C as always, and see you all in the next thread!
  9. This is so freakin' awesome!!! That tape effect thing with the signature font is so sick!
  10. 1.) Predict your highest stat before the trade dead line, why do you think it will be the highest?. I wouldn't have guessed this before we played a few games but shots are most likely to be my highest stat. I would have assumed hits but my linemates are pretty physical and the defense has been giving me the space to shoot. I need to make sure to work on my shot to make them count. 3.) It's game day and you are looking all spiffy walking into the Locker Room (LR). A reporter looks down and notices the shoes you are wearing. She asks you why you chose that footwear and to be specific and tell the listeners what they are and where/how you got them. My game day footwear is hands-down (no pun intended), my navy suede dress boots with a dark brown sole. They are classy and go with just about everything I own (which is either navy or grey). They a bit funky while still being pratical and classy which is me to a tee. I cannot remember where I got them but they were probably on sale at an outlet. 7.) Worst thing to accidentally put on your sandwich ? I was making a PB&J the other day and reached for what I thought was raspberry jelly and instead used habanero pepper jelly. While it wasn't that bad, the aftermath was enough to make me never want to do that again. 8.)If you were given a one-minute ad slot during the Continental Cup that you couldn’t sell, what would you fill it with? I would give the ad slot away to the creators of Rick and Morty for free so that we can all be blessed with another minute of their content. Heck, I'd even chip in to pay them for it. 11.) What is your signature training move that is guaranteed to produce results? My signature training move is hitting the links in the offseason. It is all about getting in the right mindset and golfing definitely does that. It has nothing to do with drinking beer out there... I swear NOTHING to do with it! 13.) What are some boring games or sports, and how can they be livened up? If I only I had a dollar for everytime someone asked me about this. I like backgammon a whole lot but isn't the most fast-paced or entertaining game. I have always been fascinated by chess-boxing but I think the world is ready for something more extreme...backgammon-MMA! I can't wait for the arm-bar cinched in with the doubling die for a 4 point submission victory.

  12. Review: Let me first start off by saying that the background is sweet! It plays right into the balance between being fun without being distracting. I really like the font and the distressed effect for the player name and games played. The other font is much too close to Comic Sans for my liking. Your player cutout is clean but might benefit from a little bit of feather around the edge. The logos at the bottom as well as everything in the graphic is well spaced and has nice composition. The final render quality is a bit low resolution and isn't helping your work stand out. Overall, it is a a great infographic 8.66/10
  13. Review: I love the NHL21 custom jersey you made for this graphic! I like that you kept the striping clean so that the stars on the arm added to the look instead of cluttering it up. The custom goalie pad design was also spot on and I appreciate that you took the time to work on those! The font is a great choice and everything is nice and lined up neatly with great utilization of space. The nitpicky complaints are: the "75" in the first line isn't the same size for some reason; you could have used a second font to separate out the information from headings to non-headings or in a way so that the eye can more easy distinguish the information; and I don't really like the blue bar in front of Sosa, perhaps a different picture or zooming in and cutting him off before the legs would look more natural (but then you miss the socks, its a real Catch 22.) Anyways, 9.66/10
  14. I have been working my tail off to create something awesome for this community and if you cannot tell what it is by this post I'd be surprised. Here are the sprites for the VHL teams. Please give me feedback if you have any. I was working with some non-white road uniforms but I think I'll be safe from clashing (LAS @ VAN is the only one that I think I'll need to test). https://imgur.com/a/JWPn8cP
  15. Well, it's been almost a month since my last mask, so without further ado, I present the penultimate mask before this thread disappears into the ether: @Spartan Your Las Vegas Aces are up! I am super pleased with how the mask came out. I wanted to use an Air Force theme, and the base patch for Chief Master Sergeant rank and above utilizes the five swooping lines below three chevrons, which would be the basis for the striping on their jersey. The patch ended up feeling similar to the Mad Max masks, which was the perfect "happy accident." The gold shower at the top and bottom further brings home the Las Vegas nature and gives some depth. C&C as always.
  16. 1.) Rookies, rookies everywhere... no seriously we have like 6 Kate Upton, Dan Dan,Victor Foles, Vick Fairchild, Gustav Hjalmarsson and Case Crosby. Vets say hi to our amazing rookies and give them your best VHL advice. Rookies tell us who you are most excited to play with. I am most excited to play with Dan Dan since our builds are very different and will lead to great chemistry and, hopefully, success. 2.) Considering the draft is coming up, who do you think @Jubo07 and @BladeMaiden should have their eyes on in the draft and why? I would highly doubt that we will be able to select him but Kristof Welch is a rockstar. We played together in Yukon and he immediately started earning TPE and was a great force in the locker room. 3.) What are you looking forward to most this season? I am most looking forward to seeing how I stack up against the rest of the VHL in my first season. It's the good type of nervous energy. I would hate to be a liability and I think my 2-way/playmaking style should limit exposure to the downsides in my game. 4.) Do you work out in the off season, if not what do you do during your time off? I was lucky enough to be selected to the WJC but the best thing to do in the offseason is the Victory ProAm. Anyone who isn't participating is missing out! 9.) Who would you steal a snack off of in our Locker Room (LR) and why? I would steak a snack off of PatrikLaine because he seems like the type of person who would have a great stash of candy. 11.) I hear someone almost failed their physical, who was it and what was the reason? Caboose failed his physical because he showed up to the wrong building. Suprisingly enough, they gave him a physical at the wrong location anyways....we are still waiting on results.
  17. Review: I love to see a WJC graphic. It is a great choice for player render because you already have a jersey that works. The player cutout is very clean. The background is unique and has very solid composition. You deserve a lot of credit for how you utilized the text around the player. The transition from fill to stroke is really special. The Italian patch on the arm could use to be skew better around the arm. The final render is also a bit grainy, which brings down the quality of the work. Overall, its a very nice graphic for a tournament that should be getting a lot more. 9/10
  18. Review: I really wish I was recording my reaction when I opened up the graphic because it is wild! The player cutout is clean and I like the shadow beneath him; it was a very smart way to ground him in the nebulous background. The logo swap is really good although it isn't quite perfect on matching the resolution of the jersey. The font for the players name is super sexy and could be even bigger. Now on to the words, it's so well done stylistically! The angle is awesome and it draws your eyes all over the graphic. The backwards text almost hurts my brain to comprehend but its just so unique. I think I love it?! Overall, it's great work and anytime I see something completely unique it is a joy. 9.75/10
  19. i'd like to play again in s76! I am offering to manage
  20. I am taking a few weeks off from the mask concepts to try a few other things around here. After a really hard week for the country, and my city in particular, I wanted to feel proud about being an American again and I am so happy to be selected by @thadthrasher for the WJC team. This is the hyper-high-resolution version. I have a smaller one for the actual signature. C&C as always please!
