  1. Review: I am most definitely a fan of this concept. It is a classic striping pattern that really works with the funky colors of the jersey/logo. The shoulder yoke is clean with the orange stripe at the bottom. The collar looks like it has 2 different shades of grey and it would probably look better with just one. The orange cuff doesn't meld with the other parts of the jersey because the orange is always tied to the maroon, I think that no cuff color or a grey cuff would be better. I like the font for the numbers and letters, it has the horn element. You did forget shoulder/sleeve numbers. I'm excited to see more of your concepts! 8/10
  2. Update 3/7: I am glad to be back at it with the Mexico City Kings! I wanted to do something completely different for the only team from a non-traditional hockey country. The logo is modified to remove the words as is traditional of crests. The torso stripe is Aztec inspired and the two-tone shoulders matches the face on the logo. The font is based on the one used in the 1968 Olympics and is one of my favorites of all time. I wanted to match the old with the new and further the patriotism by placing the Mexican Coat of Arms on the shoulder. The quote on the inside the collar is a Mexican proverb, "El que con lobos anda a aullar se enseña" which translates to "He who hangs around with wolves, learns to howl" and shows that once you earn the respect of the team, you are a true member of the pack. C&C as always!
  3. I make them in Photoshop with a template from Sportstemplates.com. I modified it slightly and I'd be more than happy to teach you! they have tons of great templates for other sports too.
  4. #LookingForward 2. Bad shit happens, we got knocked on our asses this time in the playoffs, so let's make lemonade out of lemons. What did you do with your team during the time off? The first thing we did was take some time apart which was needed after that terrible collapse. We will have a hiking and meditation trip in the Finnish before the preseason to get our heads right. 4. What have you been working on in the off season to improve your game? Conditioning (fighting depreciation), scoring, skating??Why did you choose to focus on this? I'll need to ask Jubo about this. I just hit the goals he set out for me at the beginning of the season so we will see. I would imagine more defense and scoring at the top of the list. 5. Do you see yourself filling out a start role next season? Why or Why not... has anything changed? I don't see a path to first line minutes yet. Dan Dan has the inside edge to taking over Big Bobs spot as a winger on the first line. I'll have to really push this offseason to earn that spot. Maybe I can convince Jubo that Laine will hit 60 goals with my passing abilities. 6. How do you feel about me leaving my AGM position? Good riddance to bad rubbish? let me know. I am incredibly sad to see you step down! It is shame because we are lacking in female representation in the league and, for sure, in management. I hope that the management of the VHL sees all of the turnover this past offseason as a reason to change things. 8. They say it's all about ambiance, if that is true do you pick warm lighting or bright white lighting? What are the advantages to your choice? You are my favorite person for asking this question! I actually work for a smart home company and lighting is a big part of that. I don't its fair to pick one, the goal is circadian lighting, it is warm in the morning and at night and bright white at noon, with transitions between. It helps the brain get and stay productive during the day and unwind at night. 10. Give me a gif that tells me about your favorite colour without outright spelling it out.
  5. Review: Such a great tribute! I am a huge fan of the layout, especially of the wording. The left adjusting of the top spaced out by the logo and then bottom is all aligned as it should be. To nitpick, the leftmost part of "Post Season Points" should be where the next 3 lines of details starts, especially since "61" and the season numbers are all the same width. The logo swap is good but you should have tried it on the pants too. The black and white effect with the blue coming up from the bottom are classy but I think that maybe one more effect would seal the deal! Regardless, an amazing tribute for an amazing player! 9/10
  6. Review: All of the professional marks of a seasoned VHL signature maker are here. The player cutout is crisp and the logo swap is clean. The font is so funky and the style works with the triangles in the background. I like the simplicity of the design and the glow effect pops all around. The angle of the triangles does interact with the font oddly in the first "R", "M", and "V". I wonder if the lines of triangles were more in line with the lines of letters if that would look better or if they more offset if that would look better. I would also do something with the background, perhaps a darker one to make the rest of it shine even more. 9.25/10
  7. #TheRegularSeason 1. How do you feel about your regular season stats? I feel okay about them compared to my original fear of utterly failing to do anything. I was given a fair amount of ice time on the second line, PP2, and being the extra skater on the PK, which lends itself to some disappointment. I hope to find more production in this build. 2. What do you think you did best in when it comes to the regular season? I think that my defense was the best part of my game. A positive plus/minus, fair amount of hits, shot blocks, and low PIM totals, kept the Titans in the game (I think). 3. It is almost awards season in Helsinki, what award would you like to see included his season? The Catalyst Award, the player who got the most opening points during the season. #PlayoffHypeTrain 10. What is our best play off Hype song? It's cliche, but Song 2 by Blur just hits so hard before games. Jimmy Eat World, really anything from early to mid 2000s NHL soundtracks, also works. 11. Are you a player that gets more serious in the playoffs or are you the player that is helping to keep the team loose? I am the player that thinks that they are helping to keep the team loose but gets stressed out and really quite as the game time approaches. Its in the intentions that really matters, right? 13. What does it mean to you to be on this Titans team or if you’re a prospect to know that you will be part of the magic next season? Helsinki is a wonderful place and I am honored to be a part of it. It feels like we are the island of misfit toys at times and separate from the rest of league but that is the way I like it.
  8. Thanks for the feedback! With that logo, I tried to go for an "L" from the sideways chevron, a "V" from the upside down chevron , and an "A" from the regular chevron with the star seperating the "V" and "A". I can see how that logo might not read as I intended, especially the "L".
  9. Review: Well done for your second graphic! I like the background, especially how it morphs around the player, and the dithering effect added over the graphic. I appreciate the work to cutout the player, the stick, and even the puck! There are a few spots are the left skate, stick handle, and puck at are a bit jagged or missing but that is minor. I like the choice of font and that they match in total width. The offset stroke on the text is a cool idea but doesn't quite look proper down and to the left or maybe it needs to be more dramatic. The logo is cut off and could be a little smaller and centered in the space between the right edge and stick. All around, well done and keep it going! 7.75/10
  10. Review: This signature is really awesome! The lens flares provide great points of emphasis while staying understated. The logo swap is one of the better ones I have seen! The fonts are very stylish and suit the graphic well. The stroke effect on the font and the left side of the player is sweet! My only critique is that the player cutout near the numbers on his left, our right, looks a bit jagged. It might just be the resolution of the forum, I'm not 100% sure. 9.9/10
  11. Update 2/22: Next up, Las Vegas! The focus for the design was clean, air force inspired, and meant for the locals. The torso and sleeve stripes are inspired by the rounded chevron at the bottom of the air force insignias. Captain and Lieutenants (alternate captains) designations, as well as the NoB, are on a constant black over green name plate to add to the no nonsense feel of the set. The alternate logo is an L, V, and A made up from the air force insignia's chevrons with the negative space created from the classic star on the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign. I didn't want to make a white jersey but the black and green sets don't allow for enough contrast for all situations, so the alternate logo should make it feel separate from the more natural team colors. Lastly, the quote is from Hunter S. Thompson which reads "Las Vegas is the savage heart of the American Dream." Let me know what you think!
  12. 2. Do you think there would be more or less issues between humans if we discovered aliens? If we isolate out interferences from aliens such as mind control, I think that humans would band together against the other. The other is the greatest uniting factor to humans. 5. Do you think we take enough pride in representing our teams here in the VHL? I think that we do especially in our locker rooms. I wish that the VHL discord a little more open to newbies and that the game threads had more hype to them. I like what the SBA does. They post one game at a time with box score and space it out to 1 every ten minutes. I would be in favor of 1 TPE for sim attendance with a maximum of 2. 10. Are you happy with the type of player you are becoming? I think so. The stats haven't been there for a little while now but hopefully the work that is being put in today will show eventually. 11. Can insanity bring about more creativity? It can but thats a razor-thin line to walk along. Moment of insanity can bring forward creativity but pure insanity isn't something I want to play with. 12. If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done? You are a wizard with headgames like this question. If you try to fail and succeed, you failed at failing so you succeeded at failing but failed at the intended goal of failing so you failed at failing which in a way is succeeding however the end result was a success which is a failure. Final answer, B, Regis! 13. At what point are we good enough? Being good enough is a mindset. The key is to find good enough while striving for perfection instead of finding it because we are content with it.
  13. I've decided that there will be a rookie showcase so Vick gets to go on vacation too.
  14. Review: For a first graphic, this is really good work! The logo swap work is valiant and appreciated. The player cutout is remarkably clean. The background is fun and the font is legible yet unique. I think you nailed the size of the helmet logo but the jersey logo is a too small and you almost perfectly removed the old logo but hit a snag near the right arm and black stripe on the belly. An effect on top of the whole graphic would really bring it together. 7.75/10
  15. Review: If you don't make a card series with this, I'll quit the VHL! There are so many amazing touches you add to this. The effect on top, the big Z in the background, the hidden close up in the background, logo swap, and cigar-glasses combo to name just a few! The only complaints are the missing logo swaps on the shoulders, helmet, pants, and background and that the text blends into the border but those are so minute. This card freaking rocks! 9.89/10
  16. It's the mid-season theme week and most leagues hold an all-star game at the mid-point. In the theme of needing a vacation, I suggest an all-star series held in Hawaii and Ibiza so that each conference's fans can get to their local exotic vacation hotspot (in normal times). The whole design is overly corny with the star, beach scene, font, and gradients but I think it works. I incorporated the Hawaiian hibiscus to one side and the castle from the Ibizan flag on the other. At the bottom are an attempt at conference logos in the same vein as the league logo. Let me know what you think of those as I spent a lot of time trying to make them work. C&C is always welcome! \
  17. 1.) So in case you didn't know there is a fun trend where instead of going around and being all romantic on Valentines Day you actually spend it with your friends. You buy each other small tokens like you would have in grade school ( or you adult it up more lol ppl make things their own) and just make the holiday more accessible to everyone by expanding the definition of love and how we celebrate this holiday. How do you feel about this trend. I think this is a great idea especially for those that live with their significant others. We take our friend for granted normally and during the pandemic, I have found that I need to be a better friend who reaches out more. I will 100% be adopting this. 5.)Do you have romantic plans for your Valentines day? I am actually pretending that everything during the pandemic just isn't happening. No birthdays, no holidays, no whatever. Whenever the pandemic is over, I plan on celebrating those things 2 or 3 times as hard depending on how many of them were missed. I'd rather do things whole-assed (as opposed to half-assed lol)! 7.) Have You (or Would you) ever kissed someone on a kiss cam? (Imagine it's not covid, it would be a horrible idea in covid lol) Provided I was going to the game with someone I knew moderately well, I would 100% do this. It's always fun when people play along to those types of things. I have never been on kiss cam, that I know of, though. 9.) Are you a person who usually has they task done way in advance or are you last minute? Do you feel that theme weeks affect how you get your tasks out? Um the timing of this presser might give you an idea as to the type of person I am. But in all honesty, I like to spend time on my graphics so they usually get started during an evening in the week and finish on Saturday. Everything else depends on work as to when I get those done. 10.) Did you know that they asked for theme week ideas? ( Apparently the blues are tapped out of ideas. No judgment, they have been at this a very long time lol) Did you suggest any ideas? if not did you read any ideas you loved?? I did! I put up a few ideas. One was management appreciate week and the other was the best teams to not win a championship. I like the idea they went with, however, I think the vast majority would have been good. 12.) Do you think the chosen theme (when it is announced .....) was an easy one to incorporate into your media spots ? Hahahaha! It is funny seeing your saltiness after the fact. The vacation theme was fun and I had been wanting to do an all-star logo so it was the perfect marriage.
  18. Review: Interesting graphic and I like the concept! I really appreciate how you adjusted your text, I feel like that is never done well enough. I like the use of NHL21 to create your player model and the cutout is almost there but you missed the space around his neck. I think you could have organized the information better to have a headline and better composition. Lastly, the text color is too similar and isn't a color from the logo or uniform. 7/10
  19. Review: There is a lot going right here and a few things to work on. I am a big fan of layout, the title bar in the middle, and the background behind the players. To make things read better, I would swap continental cup champs to the left and the founders cup champs to the right to take your eye from top left to bottom right in a more pleasing manner. I think it would have been better if you stuck with just the location abbreviations or removed them entirely as it doesn't read as one word. I like the color swap on the Malmo-side but the color is just a touch off. I love that you changed the color in the reflection of the cup! Player cutouts were also done very well. 8.5/10
  20. Update 2/7: I need to thank @BladeMaiden for her help on the overall template of the series and always giving me feedback. I made a small edit to my original post to include the backs of the jerseys and have the "A" on the clash jersey, I will be doing that from here on out. As a reward for the poor people that actually read what I write in these posts, if you have a VHLM team that you want your name and number on, please reply in this thread or DM me on the forums or Discord and let me which team. The inspiration for the Houston Bulls striping was the fill pattern on the wordmark at top of the logo. I removed the wordmark from the logo for the jersey as I feel like they are unnecessary. The shoulder logos were modified from the horns of the logo to make an "H" and "B". I really couldn't decide between burgundy and red so I went with both options and the medium grey from the beard as the clash. The font is a western style that is distinctive enough without being difficult to read or unprofessional for a sports team. Lastly, the quote inside the collar is from Sam Houston and felt very texas-y.
  21. 2.) You discover a beautiful island upon which you may build your own society. You make the rules. What is the first rule you put into place? As with most good sets up rules, the first rule is do not talk about the island. The best things are kept a secret and I don't want it spoiled with unwanted guests. 4.) Name the top five hockey related things to take with you during a zombie outbreak. (Think of things that you would have in your hockey bag, locker or at home) For defense: puck shooting machine and old school aluminum hockey stick; for protection: a cup, I can do anything as long as I am wearing a cup; for utility: stick tape and goal netting; and for transportation: a zamboni. 6.) If Helsinki was a Hogwarts house what house would we be and why? We are 100% Ravenclaw. We are known winners and are smart players without getting into the drama that the other successful houses get into. 9.) When you go home and relaxing is on your mind what room do you go to and what do you do in it to wind down? (Venus is totally into long luxurious bubble baths, it has been said she often turns into a prune while playing her fav Spotify mix as she soaks the stress away of everyday life) Vick is an avid home chef and enjoys spending time working on cooking projects. Some of the notable projects are smoked brisket, ribs, and all types of sourdough loafs 11.) Do you have a pet? If so tell us about your fuzzy or perhaps not so fuzzy friend lol I do! Her name is Scottie. She is a 2 year old tricolored cat and loves to cuddle and talk with us. 12.) Which is one that show you cannot watch with anyone? Letterkenny is such a gem of the show. It was of the few shows that I insist on watching by myself and my phone is on silent. The dialogues are so complex and well written that it demands my full attention.
  22. This idea stems from yours. Best teams that didn't win a championship?
  23. GM/AGM Appreciation Week. We spend a lot time writing and creating graphics about the players but management rarely gets much love.
  24. Review: You absolutely murdered that logo swap! Seriously did so well on getting on the blur/texture/skew spot on. The VHL logo swap is good as well although it is rendering a little funny. The background works well and the morphs into the logo highlight in the top right. The glow behind the player is smart as well. The text could be a bit more defined and the rendering could be higher resolution but those are nitpicky. 9.5/10
  25. Review: Finally a chance to review IR's work....and as usual, the work is great! The layout, logo swaps, effects, fonts are all fantastic. If I had to pick a favorite, the jersey knit effect on top would be it. My only critique is the blurred text behind the main one should be slightly darker or more transparent. It is gets a little hard to read when the text overlaps. 9.8/10
