If you dream hard enough you might just end up with a line this beautiful. Thankfully I did, and the Dan Dan meta came to fruition.

    1.  Season 82 has begun!  Any thoughts on our start so far?
I'm very pleased, we have had a few blow out wins and played close in every game that we lost.  2.  Which team(s) do you think could surprise this season?
London and Toronto are built pretty interestingly and look to be playoff teams.  3.  Did your player record a goal yet?
I have 8 so far, I am really happy with my production so far. 4.  Do you prefer to play home games, or games on the road in other cities?
Always prefer to play at home. It is easier to keep the routine. 5.  Tom Brady, an all time GOAT in sports has announced his retirement.  Do you think he will ever return for one more year?
I'm sure he will, I don't think he can stay away. 6.  Any interest in the Olympics this year?
Somewhat. The time zone difference makes it hard to just turn it on and watch but I have been watching highlights on Youtube.

    1.  It's finally the offseason!  The Vancouver Meta have won the cup again.  Do you think the league is broken in its current state? If so do you think certain members/GMs should be punished, or do you have a fix to suggest?
    - First off, Happy Belated Birthday!! No one is should punished but I think some tweaking needs to have with the attribute building meta. There is really one way to do it and it ends there.

    2. Hopefully the dreadful series loss to Toronto is in the rearview... Any thoughts heading into next season?  Specific goals or milestones you'd like to reach as a player?
    - Hopefully I can move up the career Stars records.

    3.  Management recently shipped Joe Madison (sam) to Vancouver, what did you think of the trade?
    - It's really good deal that works for the team this year and in the future, especially if R can rebuild from depreciation.

    4. Pending FA's Sova and Rasputin have recently signed on for next season!  Are you happy to see these 2 big pieces get locked early?
    - For sure! They were huge pieces last year.

    5. What did you eat for lunch today?
    - I went for brunch and had a chorizo scramble. It was really good!

    1. What is your favourite pass time/activity during the holidays?
I hang out with my girlfriends family during the holidays so that's my favorite activity. I still live in my hometown so it's nice to see friends come back in to town. Sadly, that hasn't happen much since COVID started. 2. We recently passed the trade deadlined without one single VHL transaction.  Why do you think no teams made moves?
Most teams were on track from where they thought they would be at the beginning of the season. That combined with the rebuilding teams lacking talent to sell made for a nonexistent trade deadline.  3.  The playoffs are quickly approaching, who do you think would be our ideal first round matchup?
Looks like no matter what happens we will play the Bears so here is to hoping that they are our ideal matchup. 4. Recently we have seen a bit of an uptick in bans for users multi accounts/players.  Why do you think people are driven to do this?
To be honest, I didn't know about this until now. I'm unfamiliar with the timing of these extra accounts but I would suspect this has been happening for a little while and the Mods just started cracking down/just realized. Part of me doesn't have a problem with it if someone wants to do more TPE good on them as long as it doesn't get in the way of another person's player getting playing time. Maybe we could have filler players like they do in the SBA. 5. Would you rather spend your holidays in the Switzerland, or Egypt?
Both sound awesome but I'll go with Egypt for the weather this time of year. 6. Did you monitor your diet during the holidays or will you worry about that when back with the team?
I keep a slight eye on it but mostly just enjoy the holidays.

    1. Recently we have suffered a couple brutal losses to Helsinki and Riga, why do you think we struggle against these EU teams so much?
Maybe it's the travel? 2. The trade deadline is fast approaching, any team needs that you think should be addressed?
I think we are very solid so and balanced so it is hard to pinpoint the most pressing need. I guess a little more goal scoring and a complimentary backup goalie because the bot goalie is terrible. 3.  Are you pleased with your players output so far?
I think so. The consistency has been better and with such a deep team, I am starting to understand that what matters most is performing when others aren't and to take a backseat when they are. 4. What is your favourite part of the holidays? (If you celebrate)
Getting together with family. Also people just seem to be in a better mood. 5. Has the surge of the Omicron variant disrupted your life yet?
Not yet but it feels like it can happen at any moment. I got my booster and flu-shot last week and it kicked my butt so that was a little disrupting. 6. What is your favourite Gatorade flavour?
Any of the citrus or blueish colored flavors work for me.

    1. It's been a bit of a turbulent season for us so far, do you think the team is showing what it's capable of?
    - I think that we will get put it together closer to the playoffs. It happened last year and I think management can find it again.

    2. Management recently juggled the lines after some questionable losses, do you think this has/will spark the group?
    - I appreciate the shakeup. Sometimes it's hard to give up on a strategy and this may not be the one but I have faith that management will find the right one.

    3.  What do you want to achieve this season?
    - A deep playoff run.

    4. Which celeb are you hoping to bump into while in LA?
    - George Takai and Lavar Burton

    5. It's December (already)... Are you starting to get in the holiday spirit?
    - Most definitely! After not being able to much last year, I am really feeling it.

    6. Have you bought gifts for anyone or yourself yet?
    - I already got stuff for my immediate family and myself. I have to figure out what to get for my girlfriend's family which is always the most difficult part.

    1. Season 81 has begun.  What are your thoughts so far on the start of our season?
It's a very good start so far. We are competitive and I think we have more staying power than some of the other teams in our conference. We could do a better job on defense. 2.  Do you feel confident with the VHFL team you've drafted for this season? Anyone you wish you nabbed?
I wish I paid a little more attention to the regression of the players I drafted. I didn't factor finances and TPA/TPE.  3. What is/was your least favourite subject in school?
My least favorite subject in school was physics and calculus. I enjoyed science and math but at that level, I had a really hard understanding it. 4. Black Friday is upon us, are you eyeing anything or taking advantage of any sales?
I haven't in the past but I really should this year. With everything taking so long to ship, I really have to order everything for the holidays now. 5. Do you think the metaverse is the future of the internet?
It is looking a lot like a Black Mirror episode. There are some nice ideas like seeing 3D renderings of hotels or resorts before booking them which could be cool. 6. What was the last meal you ate?
    Veggie lasagna

GreenGato reacted to Doomsday in VSN Presents: Trading Toronto
Two short weeks ago, I covered trades made over the off-season, including one by the Toronto Legion, who were gearing up for a run at the Continental Cup behind General Manager Rylan Peace @Peace. At first, it certainly seemed to be working well. The Legion were near the top of the conference, in spite of the fact that seemingly most of the VHL is making a run this year. Yet, it appears that instead of breaking out of the funk Toronto has suffered through this decade, Peace decided once again to pull the plug early in the season, trading their way back to the bottom of the North American Conference. What happened? Why is Toronto rebuilding again, just after making a push to contend this off-season? Perhaps by reviewing the transactions, we can find the reason for Trading Toronto.

But first, let's take a long at the quality content being produced here at VSN! The newest addition to the VHL family, Victory Hockey League Europe, is almost here! A Sit-Down With the New VHLE GMs and Commissioners | S79 VHLM Power Rankings Tracker | VHL and VHLM Mid-Season Awards Race | Season 79 Off-Season Trade Reviews

August 3rd, 2021 marked the day in real time that the Toronto Legion made the first step towards their rapid re-entry into rebuilding, as their first trade flipping the current roster was announced:

     Toronto Legion Receive:

    S81 MAL 2nd
    S80 MAL 2nd
    S81 MAL 1st

     Malmo Nighthawks Receive:

    Scotty Kaberle

Drafted by Toronto with the 11th overall pick in the Season 75 VHL Entry Draft, Scotty Kaberle @fromtheinside has been a dependable presence for the Legion over his career, now in his final season before regression. If Rylan Peace decided that contention just wasn't going to happen, moving Kaberle in his prime makes a ton of sense. He's meant a lot to this team, but wouldn't fit into the timeframe of a rebuild at this point. For the Malmo Nighthawks, who have gone from sneaking into the playoffs to running away with the European Conference, it's a big acquisition. Kaberle immediately became the top defenseman on the roster, and he's signed for the rest of his career, giving Malmo tremendous security. If Kaberle can return to his previous activity, this is a trade that Christopher James @hylands will never regret making. Toronto, on the other hand, begins the overhaul by adding Malmo's S80 2nd, along with their first and second in S81. All three of those picks should yield quality prospects, or at the very least, provide valuable capital on more trades. Exactly where you want to start on a rebuild.

The next day, August 4th, saw Toronto completely commit to the rebuild, making four trades to cement their new direction. The first move saw the Legion move one of their newest acquisitions over the off-season:

     Toronto Legion Receive:

    S80 MOS 1st
    S81 MOS 2nd

     Moscow Menace Receive:

    Aurelien Moreau

Toronto paid quite a substantial sum to the Helsinki Titans in a trade this off-season that brought in Aurelien Moreau @Frank and Vick Fairchild @GreenGato, the biggest part being Toronto's S81 1st round pick. That's hardly a desirable position for a now-rebuilding team to have, as it now seems very likely that pick will be a lottery selection, albeit for someone else. However, in a surprising development, Peace is able to acquire picks from another team, the Moscow Menace, who are a young team themselves. With the European Conference being as tight as it is, Euron Leonidas @Spartan decided to roll the dice and trade his S80 1st and S81 2nd for Moreau, giving his defensive core a massive boost. Moscow is currently eleven points out of a playoff spot, and very possibly could lose out on a lottery pick, but it's no issue to Leonidas, who feels he's added the last piece to his roster in Moreau. All this Menace team needs now is time for some of their younger players, such as goaltender Papa Emeritus @Beketov, to develop. Toronto gains a potential lotto pick for the upcoming draft, and another useful 2nd round pick in S81, but they're just getting started:

     Calgary Wranglers Receive:
(looks like the new logo needs a forum emoji)

    Sirkants Klamasteris

     Toronto Legion Receive:

    ClapbombsRUs
    S80 CGY 2nd
    S81 CGY 2nd

Franchise netminder Sirkants Klamasteris @hedgehog337 is on the move to the Calgary Wranglers, as they acquire a goalie capable of keeping them in the playoff hunt. In his last season before regression, Klamasteris doesn't fit into Toronto's new plans, and they're able to grab some draft capital in the process. Two second round picks isn't a bad price to pay for an aging goaltender for Kris Rice @Ricer13, and Peace is able to get a goaltender in ClapbombsRUs @ClapbombsRus to bravely suit up for the tough season ahead of them. Calgary has Alex Parise @Joker_TM down on the farm, which sets them up nicely for when it's time for Klamasteris to hang em up. Toronto now only has ClapbombsRUs as the only netminder in their system, and with a deep crop of goaltenders in the Season 80 VHL Entry Draft, Peace will certainly make a play for one of them now. With three S80 first round picks, Toronto has the capital to do so, but they're not done yet:

     HC Davos Dynamo Receive:

    S81 TOR 4th
    Addison McLaren

     Toronto Legion Receive:

    Jakub Brozik
    S81 DAV 1st
    S81 DAV 3rd

Jerry Garcia @GustavMattias and the HC Davos Dynamo are on their way to reaching the playoffs for the first time since Season 73, and their first series victory since Season 66. To help their odds, they've taken advantage of the situation with Toronto and added Addison McLaren @tcookie, a dangerous scoring threat the Legion acquired through a trade with the Riga Reign last season. His work ethic appears to have majorly dropped off, and he's signed through Season 80, but for a team that needed players to compliment Taro Tsujimoto, McLaren definitely fits the bill, especially if he can return to form. For Peace and the Legion, they now have two S81 first round picks, and they also added a prospect to keep an eye on in Jakub Brozik @Viper, who could certainly become a big part of Toronto's rebuild if he continues to develop down on the farm. The Legion do have one last trade to cover, however:

     New York Americans Receive:

    Phoenix Dawson
    S81 DAV 3rd

     Toronto Legion Receive:

    Aldwin Craig
    S80 WAR 2nd
    S81 NYA 2nd

After being acquired in a trade with the Seattle Bears in Season 77, Phoenix Dawson @Toast appeared to be breaking out in Season 79 for the Toronto Legion, playing by far the best hockey of his career as Toronto looked to be on track to reach the playoffs. Instead, he'll be looking to help the New York Americans regain their former glory after being traded for the second time in his career. The play-making forward seemed to have found the scoring touch, with 11 goals in 24 games with Toronto, but has scored just four with New York, although he has assisted on 19 goals for the Americans at the time of print. Toronto gets two more second round picks, Warsaw's for the upcoming Season 80 VHL Entry Draft, and New York's for Season 81. They also added Aldwin Craig @Eldredman, whose development has been inconsistent, but could still factor into Toronto's future plans. He has scored more than double the points he did in New York in four less games, but he still has a long way to go before Craig can be considered a reliable option for Toronto. With General Manager Esso Drunkmann @Esso2264 stepping down following the season, the direction of the Americans is very much unknown, and ultimately so is Dawson's future in New York. He is signed through Season 81, so if the incoming general manager wants to retain him, it's a viable option.

With the trade deadline looming, Toronto could have even more trades on the horizon. Lester Green @Smarch is the most glaring option as a S74 player and could be an attractive rental option for a contending team. However, Green has a no-trade clause, and ultimately holds all the cards with where, or if, he will be traded. Asher Reinhart @rjfryman is the most valuable player Toronto has to trade, and despite only being a third year player, I wouldn't be surprised to see Reinhart moved. He'd command a high return, and he's only signed through Season 80. It's hardly a guarantee that Reinhart would decide to re-sign with the team that gave up on a Cup chase built around him to enter another rebuild, and the Legion can basically decide to cut their losses and truly commit to the rebuild by moving a franchise player for even more picks. Vick Fairchild, who was acquired from Helsinki in the same trade that brought in Aurelien Moreau, is another quality rental option. He's signed only through Season 79, and Fairchild would be a quality depth forward for a playoff run. I get the feeling Rylan Peace will have a busy off-season in spite of all the previous trades made so far.

Regardless of your feelings on whether or not it should have been done, it's happened. The Toronto Legion are rebuilding again, but how well did they do with setting up their next team? First, let's take a look at what they moved:

    Scotty Kaberle
    Aurelien Moreau
    Sirkants Klamasteris
    Addison McLaren
    Phoenix Dawson
    S81 DAV 3rd
    S81 TOR 4th

Four quality players for sure, but would they have brought a Continental Cup to Toronto? It seems as if Rylan Peace thought that while they may have been able to compete, they didn't have what it took to beat the top teams consistently enough to realistically challenge for the Continental Cup. That's not to say that these are not players who can compete with a contender and one day be a VHL champion, but it would not have come assembled together as they were in Toronto. So, in order to potentially build a contender, they were shipped out to bring in the following pieces:

    Jakub Brozik
    Aldwin Craig
    ClapbombsRUs
    S80 MOS 1st
    S80 CGY 2nd
    S80 WAR 2nd
    S80 MAL 2nd
    S81 DAV 1st
    S81 MAL 1st
    S81 CGY 2nd
    S81 NYA 2nd
    S81 MOS 2nd
    S81 DAV 3rd
    S81 MAL 2nd

With these trades, Rylan Peace has given himself an absolute wealth of draft picks for the next two seasons. In the upcoming Season 80 VHL Entry Draft, for instance, Toronto now has three first round picks, two of which would be lottery picks if the season ended today. On top of that, however, the Legion also possess seven second round picks, meaning if they decide to stand pat with the capital they have, ten of the first 32 players selected in the Season 80 Draft will be going to Toronto. They have even more on top of that, holding two first round picks in the Season 81 VHL Entry Draft, along with another five second round picks and one third rounder. With wise drafting, the Toronto Legion will be absolutely loaded with young talent in short order, although the cap crunch that comes with building a team in this manner will be no easy task for Peace to manage. Additionally, Jakub Brozik, Aldwin Craig, and ClapbombsRUs have the opportunity now to work their way into Toronto's long-term plans, and potentially become leaders on what could potentially be a powerful cup contender... if they can manage to stay together.

When I first saw that Peace was blowing up another talented Toronto roster, I was skeptical at first. Seeing the moves to compete, then just suddenly give up and rebuild again... it didn't seem right. But after analyzing all the moves, all the pieces and decisions made to flip their current roster, it's become much clearer, and there is definitely a method to the madness. Peace apparently had no delusions about whether or not this team would be able to achieve the ultimate goal of winning the Continental Cup, and instead of creating a deeper hole to try to make it happen in vain, he flipped the roster and created a future that is shining ever so brightly in Toronto. Simply put, over the next two off-seasons, the Legion are going to become utterly loaded with top young talents, and will be able to develop into a powerful contender. But at this point, the only question left is, can Rylan Peace keep this next chapter in Toronto history together long enough for all this work to be worth it?

    1. What do you think about the moves Toronto has made? (HSK/TOR + CGY/TOR)
Mikey Harris looks like a stud but idk about the Moreau guy looks like a scrub to me. Vick Fairchild is a major get @GreenGato❤️

    2. We've got a well balanced roster heading into S79. Do you think we make the playoffs?
I hope so I think we have a good mix. We'll see how all are player builds gel together.

    3. There are numerous VHLE GM jobs available. Did you apply for one?
No, I'm still on tge fence whether it's going to work. 6 teams is a lot, activity will need to remain high.

    4. What is your general opinion on the S79 Draft Class?
Looks strong lots of big names with long player histories. Looking forward to seeing how it shakes out.

    5. There's been some GM movement this off season. Do you think there will be more GM changes soon?
Yes I feel it's a futile position as you need to be fully dedicated to have any success.

    6. What do you think should be Toronto's goal song for S79?
I would like to see us steal the Chicago Blackhawks goal song for season 79 and beyond.

    1) Do you think you have been performing up to your expectation this season so far?
Not exactly. I have been saving my progression to battle skill depreciation later one but I think I might need to work on something. At this point, I am not having a better year than the one prior. 2) Who do you think will lead the league in points by the end of the season?
It's a really tight race. I think that Onde Sandstrom will be out the trifecta from Chicago and Aloe Dear. 3) Right now we are sitting 3rd in the European Conference. What are the odds we catch London (3 points back), or even Warsaw (10)?
We are still favored over London to finish second. It'll take quite a lot for us to catch Warsaw but it is possible. Maybe 12-1 odds. 4) What is more impressive in your mind; league leading goals for or goals against?
Goal against because luck usually is on the side of the scorers.  5) Would you rather lose 10 games in a shootout, or win 5 in regulation and lose 5 in regulation?
The second options has a lot less heartbreak and is easier on the body haha. 6) Do you think gorillas could ever learn how to play hockey?
The fighting part should be easy. I can see a gorilla being somewhat familiar with a stick in the wild so that isn't too far off. The big question is skating.

    1) What are your personal goals for your player this season?
    - I'd like to be in the top 5 of at least 3 stats on the team.
    2) What do you think are some achievable team goals?
    - Making it to back to the conference final would be the point in which I would call the season a success no mater what.
    3) Who has the absolute worst dance moves on the team?
    - I am for sure! Tone deaf and unable to carry a beat is a deadly combination on the dance floor or karaoke stage.
    4) Who are you rooting for in the NHL playoffs?
    - I was rooting for the Caps when they were in it. I'd like to see a Canadian team finally win it.
    5) What is your opinion of fighting in hockey? Not enough, too much, or just right?
    - Hockey is in a good place with fighting at the moment. The way hockey is currently being played with such speed, when people are getting hit, the collisions are massive. Fighting helps to deter taking such leeway. We have evolved from where the game was 20 years ago where we had dedicated fighters without any skill.
    6) Top 3 kinds of cheese, go!

    VHL's Third League

    Hello @Members!

For awhile now the @BOG have been teasing a more robust option to deal with the roster room issue we have been experiencing lately. Many of you have been assuming this means more expansion, despite us continuing to refute those claims. Well... the expansion claims and us saying they are wrong were both correct in a sense. Today the VHL is announcing that the VHL and VHLM will no longer be the only leagues contained within our Community, we are adding a third, the Victory Hockey League: Europe.

Be design the VHLE will fit between the VHLM and VHL so that players are not stuck at the VHLM level passed when they should be there, making the M as a true developmental league, but also not getting pushed to the VHL before they are ready for it. This will open up the rosters of the VHL teams as they will only contain the higher TPE players. Specifically the caps for the individual leagues will be:

    VHLM: 30-199 TPE*
    VHLE: 200-399 TPE*
    VHL: 350+ TPE

*Of note these limits operate in the same way as the VHLM does now. So you can claim past the TPE limit but you cannot apply past it.

Obviously there's a bit of weirdness at the bottom there as the VHL starts at 350 while the VHLE doesn't end until 399. This is intentional to allow players above 350 TPE to enter the VHL if they so choose but they are not forced to do so until the 400 TPE mark. This does mean that some players can, or will be forced to, skip the VHLE completely; know that this is not necessarily a guaranteed step in your progression. If you are above 350 TPE by your VHL draft and want to skip the VHLE completely you may do so.

    VHLE Leadership

Obviously the @Commissioner and @VHLM Commissioner  teams are already quite busy with the VHL and VHLM respectfully so running a whole third league will not fall on them, a new Commissioner team will be added to cover the VHLE. @Acydburn and @Victor have graciously offered to head up this new leadership group. This will of course involve Acyd giving up his current Green team role (which we will be hiring for) to head this new league into the future including hiring the GM's for the new roles, which leads me nicely into the next topic.

    VHLE Teams and Mentality

In effect the VHLE is not a developmental league like the VHLM. Its purpose is not to recruit and retain members and it's GM's will not be bound to that mantra like the @VHLM GM's are. The job of an VHLE GM is to be competitive within their bracket. It will still have the fast turnarounds of the VHLM given it's small TPE window but teams may use their assets as they please to get the most out of their teams and win.

Notice I did say VHLE GM's. TheVHLE teams will not be controlled by @VHL GM's or VHLM GM's but rather be new GM opportunities in their own right. But for what teams? Well that's up to you all to decide.

Seeing that the league has many amazing old European teams that have been left to the sands of time, we will use those teams to make up the VHLE with the league voting on which 6 they want to see. This means that the Vasteras Iron Eagles, for example, could return; and / or the Cologne Express, Stockholm Vikings, and many others. We have the teams, we have the logos, and we see no reason to not use them so they will make up the pool of teams you all can decide on. The poll for this will be going up soon.

Layout wise with the league being only 6 teams at the moment will be simple: 1 conference with the 4 top teams making the playoffs per season. In addition the VHLE will not be affiliated in any way with the VHL or VHLM so it will be simulated as an entirely separate league, the same way the two are now. Think the KHL rather than the AHL.

Contract wise the league will be similar to the VHLM with more or less a "free for all" mentality. If a player has been drafted to the VHL they will receive their VHL contract but otherwise all players are signed to $1.5M contracts with no bonuses or salary cap to speak of. This could change in the future if we feel a cap and formal contract structure would improve the VHLE but we want to see if that's necessary first.

Draft Structure, Career Length, and Depreciation

Adding a third league will obviously affect how drafts and career lengths operate within the VHL. With the VHLE placed where it is in a player's career, and the expectation that they will spend at least one season there, it would obviously create problems for the career clock if we didn't address it. For that reason player careers will be formally extended to 9 seasons, with draft seasons being set the same as they always have. This means you will be eligible for both the VHL and VHLE draft in the same season; potentially all three if you time it right. If, at the draft, you are at or above 350 TPE and would like to go straight to the VHL you still get the 9 season VHL career, adding a year onto the total you can have now. If you spend a season in the E league, as most will, you don't lose out on a VHL season and still retain the 8 that is currently available.

So, for example, let's take a player that creates at the S79 deadline. We follow the same rules as now so his VHL draft is S81. In his season and a bit in the VHLM this player earns 200 TPE. This player is drafted to both the VHLE and the VHL. He does not have the minimum TPE to play in the VHL so goes to the VHLE for S81, finishing with 350 TPE or the minimum to play in the VHL. At this point he can choose to either go up to the VHL and play 8 seasons from S82 or he may chose to stay down for a season and would enter the VHL in S83. In either case he retires at the end of S89, having played 7 or 8 seasons.

An alternative example is a super heavy earning player. Let's assume he creates at the same time and has the same draft date but has a bunch of carryover and gets a very large amount of TPE in the VHLM. He enters the drafts at 350 TPE, the minimum to play in the VHL. He may choose to skip the VHLE completely and go straight to the VHL in S81. He will then play for 9 seasons and retire at the same time in S89.

Nine seasons does add one caveat however; depreciation. As it stands right now depreciation only hits for 3 seasons, season 6-8 of your career. This holds two problems, one exists currently and one is new. The more obvious one is that having 9 seasons means we need to add a depreciation level. For this the same percentage (7%) from year 8 will be used but we will not be adding an additional depreciation fighter to the store that can be used for this season. That means only the Jagr purchase can help you fight 9th season depreciation, you must take the full 7% hit.

The second problem, which exists now, is that players can spend extra time in the minor leagues and be hit with depreciation in their "6th" season but that could be, in fact, their 4th VHL season. This does not seem fair to hit lower earners with so quickly, even being percentage based, so we are changing depreciation slightly. Depreciation seasons are now based on VHL seasons played, not seasons since your draft. That means a player who skips the VHLE and plays 9 VHL seasons will be depreciated 4 times. A player that plays 1 VHLE season will be depreciated 3 times, and so on. So if a player takes his time to get to the VHL and only plays 5 VHL seasons he will not face depreciation by the time he is forced into retirement.

    Call-Ups, Send-Downs, and Graduation Bonus

As all VHLE players will be owned by VHL teams as well the issue of call-ups and send downs must be addressed. Like the cap situation this may change later but to start we will only be allowing call-ups and send-downs during the off-season and, obviously, only if the player in question meets the TPE bracket for the league they are being sent to.

This means that at no point mid-season can a player be plucked away from their VHLE team to join their VHL team, similarly no player will be pulled from the VHLM to join the VHLE. Whatever league you start the season in is the league you finish the season in.

In addition the graduation bonus will remain in place where it is, exiting the VHLM. With the VHLM remaining as a "training ground" of sorts it makes the most sense to reward players for graduating from there. The VHLM to the VHL or VHLE is what we are looking at as the "upwards" movement while the VHLE to VHL is more of a lateral move in your career.

     Introduction Timeframe

Obviously a change this large can't be implemented immediately and start next season. We would not want players who have already created but are undrafted to be left suddenly being told there's an extra league before the VHL that they were unaware of. There's also a matter of dealing with the players who currently sit on VHL rosters that are under 350 TPE and wouldn't be allowed under these rules.

Therefore, the VHLE first season will be S80 meaning players that retire at this deadline will be the VHLE's first draft class. Players currently on VHL rosters who are under 350 TPE at the start of S80 may remain on the roster if they so choose or they may be placed into the VHLE draft, remaining as prospects for the VHL teams that drafted them. Likewise any players currently drafted who are still in the VHLM will be given the option of going to the VHL or the VHLE at 200 TPE. Their career clock remains unchanged however; only players starting in the S80 draft will be given the 9 season career and new depreciation rules.
