  1. I got corona. So here's a lazy article. Nothing much to say though. I do want to tell something, however. Riga was represented so well in rookie award nominees. 3 out of 4 were coming from our team. Guess who won it? John Jameson???? Who the hell is THAT? Delete that player from portal and delete @Frank as well while we're still here. How dare he to take awards from us???!!?? Unacceptable! Anyways, the offseason is about to end. Wednesday is the projected season opener although I feel like for me the offseason may not end that quick. Something is brewing in the air, but for now I will keep it in secret. As for our team, I already did pre season rankings so you know what's up. But I do have a moderate excitement about this. First of all, we should get more than 18 wins. That was our result last season. Our forwards are gonna frow pretty quickly so I think we will have something going on towards the end of the season. Is it gonna be enough for the playoffs? Probably not, but I think writing us off immediately isn't an option either. And you know, trade deadline deals are always a possible scenario too, though I don't wanna sell my farm for that. So we shall see. By the way, clicker finally got the chance to be signed. One of last year rookie nominees Gus Bentley signed with Davos to replace inactive Marconi. Less TPE, but pretty fine build for a 5th or 6th forward. By the way, he was Davos prospect before getting sent to Riga. Now it comes full circle. Now onto another players who could be signed. Would Toronto or Helsinki take the advantage of the temporary rule by the commishes? In fact, I do have one inactive to cut as well. But for now I'm waiting. I messaged two of them so waiting for responses. We shall see how it goes. I do wonder where is Freddy Freeze is gonna sign though. Most of teams do have a backup and the cap situation is still there. Can any team even try? Anyways, we did get a good solution for this season. Now it's onto the higher ups to come up with something more fundamental as the non retirement offseason is going to creep on us in two months. By the way Spartan told it's not an expansion not the cap space raise. Okaaaay?.... I did listen some part of Ahma cast today just cause I was mentioned there. Basically they said I'm loyal cause of my 30 something plus season tenure in Riga. Well, that's an interesting fact. Though I have to say I'm indeed not testing FA very often with my players. Matter of fact, I don't even remember when did I go to free agency here. I think...with Zeptenbergs when I re-signed with Toronto in FA? Slam dunk decision by the way. Neither I'm going to FA much in other leagues. My last ever player in sim leagues I went to FA was Lupatlasis in SBA and that was years ago. So yeah, I guess I do have some reputation as a rather loyal member. @Spartan 's anxiety has lessened after reading this paragraph as we speak. I think that's enough for today. That's it and I'm out.
  2. 1. what are your thoughts on ''clicker players'' struggling to get signed by any VHL team? 2. do you agree with this decision by commishes to tackle the clickers current problem? 3. do you think the VHL season will have the most parity we've ever seen? 4. however, can the next season become even more parity based considering no one will be auto retired after this season? 5. are you happy with the VHFL team you have now? 6. is mid season the most boring part of the season? cause I think it is
  3. Hockley Mann already signed with Helsinki
  4. Most of teams with no cap space and those who have (prolly 2 teams left) may likely not give you lots of playing time. also shame on yall on not allowing us cutting inactives without cap pen.
  5. and that will be just enough for the 6th place ....but maybe this season will be different maybe
  6. I think I will accept the fact I can't do 2000 words anymore. Getting more busy and stuff, less energy on point tasks. Anyways I will try to predict some stuff. Barring any unexpected deals I think all teams are set for now. NA conference 8th - Self explanatory. Their biggest win will be getting another first overall. Kyle Peace may get decent stats but other than that, another losing season. 7th - Meh. Leduc as a slight better version of Mourning and Shrimp as a younger Hockley Man. Same old shit, that's what I'd call this team. Still getting stuck with MDM and Reilly plus a heavy pass first defence is just not a good look at all. 6th - Let's have a hot take moment. But seriously, their forwards are either still underseasoned or always underachieving Florida Man. Poor Hogan. And their defence will only be good for making Dusty like million bucks again. Who the fuck is supposed to score though??? 5th - The most intrguing team this season. They went from overloading the defence to have two bot D's. That's quite a turnaround, but perhaps it will be for the better. Also they're hoping Detroit is gonna keep his playoffs form. 4th - May be lower actually. The forward lineup outside of Vidot and Lamb is some doodoo juice. Ok Wolf is aight too. They won't score a lot, but good defence and Bubbles gonna be enough to hold on. 3rd - They never truly replaced Bob which sucks imo. Good enough team to be considered for the cup, but I'm not sure if the have enough firepower to pull this off. Daniels and Bushtit are fine, just not on Bob's level. 2nd - Weaker D depth, weaker F depth. But here's a hope Lindbergh is not going to choke in the playoffs like Dahl did all the time. 1st - Bouchard is gonna have a lot of work to do. His performance is going to impact Vancouver a lot. But I think their forward group is still legit with Nezuko joining in. EU conference 8th - They're starting to assemble their youth which is cool. But the team still has lots things to do before returning into the contention. Another team that would much rather win first overall. 7th - Pretty nice defence and goaltending, but forwards need some more seasoning. I think we're not even much worse than the 6th team, just difference on forward lineup makes this placement. 6th - Hard to tell. They will fight for sure. But Godlee, their defence is still stuck on late 60's - early 70's Prague and Malmo ways. So much physics and we all know how it ended up for them last season. I'm not sure if this won't screw them this season either. 5th - Just above average team. Nalwa - Kovalchuk duo at D and Molly is pretty cool, but the rest of the team doesn't speak championship pedigree to me. If only Chiang was more lucky... 4th - Only put them above London cause of Boobery. Their forward depth kinda slipped, the same with defence. They do have players to pull things off, but I feel there are more teams with better firepower. 3rd - Their defence is kinda meh I have to say. I wasn't sure about Kovalchuk being as a first defenceman, but Greg is even worse option to me. And that's just to not have a bot D playing. I don't know if this is going to work. At least they're still having other strengths as last season. 2nd - Second string forwards does worry me a bit. Especially when AK will have to try to carry them. But Lavelle joining the team was a nice touch. All in all, shouldnt be much problems for Moscow to make it through the regular season. 1st - Forward Lamb out, defenceman Cheese in. In theory, this should weaken them because STHS. But this may play put nicely to them since most of their forward core is still intact. I'm leaning towards the latter. Enough words for today. That's it and I'm out.
  7. 1. Skor McFleury baby! how excited were you when finding out our pick? 2. but also Stefan Norris, Braeden Panarella, Mclean Hoover II and Troy Conlon baby! Do you think all of them can become steals down the road? 3. Tavish DeGroot baby! how surprising this signing was for you? 4. How much wins can we get this season? 5. If Riga for some reason won't win the cup, who are you rooting for? 6. who wins the superbowl in your opinion?
  8. I will rush into this thing Vasile Lamb F @chikn @Pifferfish
  9. bruh what a mess lmao Ablar was chosen as a forward (which was an incorrect position), but now in index he is in a correct place, defenceman. we're bout to play 5/5 stuff, whats this shit even???
  10. player can be brought and team takes no cap hit. Unless the rosters are full, but thats a diff topic.
  11. I mean sure rebuilding teams can bring em in and give like 10 min per game. Still better than being unsigned I guess. and no expansion isnt really an option unless the recruitment goes bonkers. btw we can make a temporarily solution. Just like in M, if a low tpe player goes IA for a month he can be cut off without a cap penalty.
  12. lol I see nice to get some paper before getting drafted
  13. no they dont. they have 4.5 with an immediate call up coming up from an upcoming draft. I'm one of managers who mainly does deals before FA so yeah I see most of colleagues prefer safety. I feel like both NY and Vancouver are gonna play their part in free agency though they need to do a tough task before that - cap dump without being fleeced a lot. The next offseason gonna be a bloodbath lmao.
  14. Here's some unusual Saturday article about something and nothing. More useful thing coming in next week when all these trades are gonna go through. It's kinda easy to review them and get lots of words so why not continue. Anyways, the offseason is going full swing. Though I have to say that cap and roster crunch made this offseason a bit dry. Not much big moves and the free agency isn't producing lots of excitement either. Outside of DeGroot and Nezuko and maybe Power (I feel he's going back to Chicago, but maybe not?). The worrying fact is both Fong and Rory don't have much options due to teams not having enough cap space. So it looks like both of them likely going to sign with above average or straight up rebuilding teams instead of super contenders. I imagine what is going to happen next season when no one is auto retired and the cap is going down to 40. Even a harsher regression may not help the cause. After all, these E clickers are still a moment to be reckoned with. Some teams are still struggling to sell them anywhere. Speaking of which, lucky Seattle. Managing to throw Blake out and not even being fleeced, that's somewhat a shocker. Well...and then Bana proceeded to be robbed by Helsinki just to draft a certain player. Well then. What about Riga? Nothing whole lots of. I decided to bring Webber Jr. for a third round pick which I think is a decent deal. He is on the way of being a fine offensive option once Riga is getting back on track. I believe we're one season away so not long time left. Also, the lotto gave us a 2nd overall. At first I was upset, I really wanted that first. But after all of these rumors looks like there is nothing to be mad about. And the also there's a chance the draft is about to be less predictable than it was expected at first. So I guess....draft hype! All in all, we should have a better season. Not a groundbreaking one obviously, but I believe we can fight for as much as 30 wins. Or maybe more, because why not. Right Simon? Back to league things. Some big moves did happen. Lindbergh to Calgary, Cheese to Warsaw, Kowalski to DC. Also Lamb holding on before linking with the latter team which I didn't expect. DC as a team did change a bit. Lavelle and Nezuko went out, but Kowalski and Lamb brought in. Also the team might run with a 5/4 lineup unless some of lower TPE defs is going to change positions. Not gonna be surprised if this will be Kitson. One of the bigger moves this offseason so far was Lavelle to Moscow. For some reason I was expecting this as RC was being pretty active in Moscow gen chat. So I figured he would be interested to play for Spartan one day. Also, Moscow becoming another team with a 6/3 lineup. Yay for AK? By the way, the cap is forcing teams to sacrifice defensive depth which is certainly being a trend for a moment now. Thank you Warsaw. Alright, that's enough. More content next week! That's it and I'm out.
  15. 1. How do you feel about Riga heading into the draft - any draftees you're hoping to play with next year? well I hope to draft a player who is our main target. and looks like it will likely happen 2. How has your player been treating this offseason - mostly training or relaxing? relaxing kinda. may have some work right before the season 3. Are you playing in any of the World Cup or WJC tournaments? ye East Europe. yay 4. Do you expect your player to have a 9 season career or retire early? gonna go fully through S92 5. Do you like the current NHL playoff format? ....isnt that an usual format? or I missed something 6. What's the most exciting thing about the weekend for you? to be able to rest
  16. and just like that we're entering mvp discussion yet again idc if his team did him dirty. Seattle wasnt even that bum team so all I see is he still has worse gaa and record and I will count this if I wanna decide who to vote here.
