  1. 45 min ago Ruutu made his new crusade against welfare gals, but for now it has to be put aside by my rambling media cause I need 6 TPE. SUCKS TO YOU! I'm really starting to feel like a usual sim league member. Come in on Monday, do your PT and then zero worries about anything for the rest of the week. In fairness, this is the better option than waiting till Sunday and then just claim a welfare cause you already feel burned out from all of the things that happened in the previous 6.5 days. So I'll gladly continue to do that until I can't even come up with random garbage rambling for the sake of 6 TPE. This is also the reason why I never even tried to take more than GM job here. I'm sure I wouldn't hang with more than one responsibilty and honestly this is why I wasn't totally burnt out from VHL altogether. There were some lower points in my times here, but every time I was able to find back the spark. And I have to say thanks to myself for not taking more than I could chew. You may say I'm not ambitious enough? Uhhh I literally don't care. I'm comfortable with my current position in this league. I guess you know why I touched this topic. We have an ongoing controversy which was made by diacope lil z zach lll or lIl z16 16z busser bussin bussin I'm still salty about Apra person. The OP literally said that this league is just an O.L.D. B.O.Y.S. C.L.U.B. with only couple of members claiming whole lotta jobs. Which stops from other members taking these, including the thread author who felt disrespected by that behavior from higher ups. Ok, I think Ottawa GM didn't mention the Best people here but socially distanced, it came from Tate I guess. But I'd imagine Z no Zetterberg is gonna agree with him on that anyways. So yeah, that's the thing. Also, rory and Ruutu with the cameo appearance there too. By the way, I'm taking no responsibility in here cause I only have one job so I have zero shits given ok thanks. By the way, we have some VHL raps coming in. The aformentioned lil z kickstarted the whole rap movement here so I'm expecting some heat collab. I'm already salivating around thinking about the possibilites of some fire collabs. We already have Dil and Bedirhan wanting showing their raps too? Get em three together....naaaah hol up hol up. I have something a better idea. lil z & lil j & lil d &.....ST4RFACE!!!! Make it happen, I'm 26743% sure it's about to be a galaxy level hit. The sales about to leave the Earth, do you imagine how much VHL gonna earn from that???....if they want even to donate something from their earnings. Regardless, it has to happen! I guess thatt's it. This media is about to stay at the headline for a bit unless people are already making a shitstorm about Ruutu's opinion on welfare members. That's it and I'm out.
  2. 1. What do you think the future holds for the Riga Reign after this season? Only me really knows the answer bwahahahaaaaa.....and likely lots of others too 2. Who is your favorite prospect in this season's draft? didn't pay lots of attention to it, but aimkin and Reid are goood first gens 3. Riga is considering a new win song for next season, what would be your pick? if you aint from my hood by project pat 4. Warsaw slayed the Moscow dragon after their dominance - what do you think was the biggest difference? I have no idea cause I checked 0 games in playoffs after Riga 5. Did you watch the WJC tournament at all? No. just no. 6. Pizza or Nachos 'pizza all day all night long
  3. Oh my god I have to write another whole lotta nothing vhl com because fuck trivia how in the hell Locke wasn't the man with the most goals scored as a rookie I hate all of you and that person who made this question I double hate you too. Istanbul is 3-1 up. I think my last vhl com gave us a win so I want to make a statement. 3-1 isn't enough and I want the fourth win! Not so dear STHS, don't you even dare to screw up. Oh yeah, Hoodie man only had 1 point in the game 4, but I guess it didn't matter since win is a win. By the way, is there any position awards in E? AK is probably not so far from the best defenseman. Or maybe he is even the best, I don't know. I guess this build is pretty cool. Though I'll reroll this a bit still. That wrist shot thing is so unneccesary I swear. When I'll get up to decent 80's, this skill is coming into the play. But before that it doesn't matter a lot cause I'm not even gonna play for a rebuild team. So I don't think I need lots of scoring before Markinson is gone. I think this is about it. That's it and I'm out.
  4. Hello there. I'm hedge. Honestly, at this point I was about to close this tab and claim a welfare instead because I'm tired of doing media. Or more like, I'm tired in general. I have to say thanks to a certain member who inadvertently came up with an idea for this article. On last Saturday @nurx (who is famillar with Riga) posted an answer to a question in the NY press conference about the Riga and Davos series. The question was about whether members were surprised Davos made it through. Instead of answering directly to this answer he decided to come from a bit different perspective: Riga has no emotions at this point. There was a second part of that answer, but the curse moment wasn't really interesting to me. This part, however is intriguing. He almost spent 4 seasons with Riga (including his time in VHLE) so he has to know something, right? Well.... .....I can't say for other members so I only can answer this how I felt. After game 5 I felt almost nothing. Sure, there was some sort of disappointment that our season wasn't prolonged. Other than that I expressed my opinion on how Riga is still better than Davos and decided to move on. For some(???) reason I wasn't feeling anything during these series. It's just like was one big ehhh for me. We win, cool. We lose, bleh who cares. So as for the question whether Nurx was right about Riga having no emotions - I'm not sure because we need to ask other team members for that. But when it comes to the head honcho, I have to admit that his remark wasn't far from truth. Which brings us to the next question. What's next? You may paid the attention to three question marks after the word ''some''. The thing is I know exactly the reason why there was not much involement from my side. And if you read some of my random blabs you know it too. Weather, events, work, you know the drill. Obviosly I'm just not having the same energy for this as I had with lesser everything IRL. But even with that, this wasn't the only reason why this happened. The reason is even more simple - I could see it shitloads of country miles away that something like that could happen. I knew that Riga was totally screwed this season by a certain sim engine. Countless of stupid nonesense losses against bottom feeders which never gave a chance to fight for a better position in regular season standings. And I do think Riga deserved a higher position. This series was just a cherry on the top, but by that moment I already lost an interest on this. I just had very little faith that there wouldn't be some wack shit happening around and this series proved me right. I think this is actually the rare moment when I just didn't care anymore. Even in these tragic days of late 70's Riga I still was constantly moaning about the STHS. Which does mean that I did care. Only in S81 I was pretty much cruising around waiting for a better moment to buy and go harder. This one, however...I don't know what to say. Personally, this series probaly will go down as one of the least interesting in my GM career so far. It was whole lotta shrug moment. Anyways, about the question at the beginning of my last paragraph. Does that mean.... That's it and I'm out.
  5. 1. Cider or beer? 2. have you gotten some sun tan? 3. your reaction on earlier statement from Johnston on testing FA? 4. a certain member mentioned that Riga had no emotions anymore before the series against Davos. do you agree with this statement? 5. do you wanna see Istanbul winning in E? 6. do you feel Ruutu's medias became less controversial?
  6. And now I gotta create another garbage 200 word something nothing so I just get 2 TPE cause I was not bothering to check for answers for trivia oh my god why is this thing hard. Don't even know what to write about except of E league. Istanbul is 2-1 up right now and I want this to be finished in the next 2 games cause after that I can finally stop caring about the playoffs altogether. Not like I do care about other 2 leagues anyways, but still. Just finish the playoffs quicker cause that's boring shit. AK the Hoodie dude has 15 points in 9 games, I guess he does something. That third game was a real stinky booty juice by the way. We don't accept these cokehead inspired results so resim this trash right now. Oh yeah I once again got one nom for Elmebeck and I'm for sure know who voted for me. I don't even need to ask Victor for this. Also I saw now ex Riga member Nurx making one interesting answer there which may be the theme of my next media. That's it and I'm out.
  7. So uhhh playoff games are happening. I'm glad to say that Istanbul has made into the finals and we have a decent shot at winning it all. wooohooo! For whole regular season long we've been at the leading spot. At some point we were dropping that spot to Bratislava (I think), but shortly after we were back at the top. I think Bratislava finished below us in standings. In this case I have no idea why we needed to face each other at semi finals. Some conference thing or something? I'm really not sure, but I guess whatever at this point. This was an interesting matchup. For me especially. I already mentioned gazillion times that I still have some soft spot to Bratislava due to reasons most of members know but forgot already. Also the best Riga prospect named James Marino was playing there too...hold up. I think his last prospect was under Moscow. Now he is with Riga and AK is in Moscow. Uhh.....confusing, I know. The series was pretty interesting. No blowouts as far as I remember. We also had a brawl in game 3(?), though AK had nothing to do with that. His primary interest was scoring and he was pretty fine with it. 9 points in 6 games. And I meant it when I said scoring is his primary thing since he was the worst at blocking shots among all Istanbul defs. At the end of the day, no negative stuff did matter as we managed to break them in 6 games to advance into the finals. I'm not even sure who are we gonna face against. I've heard it's against Vasteras. Well, ok then. Outside of it, nothing much. Honestly, I thought this moment would come earlier, but surprisingly there wasn't too much work happening. Neither lots of events. However, August came and it all came at once. More work, more events, less time and interest in spending a time at home. And some members may still remember last summer when I was borderling non existent in this league. I'm already feeling I have less ideas and time on writing articles and doing other stuff so is there a chance I'll claim welfare at some point? Hell yeah. I'm lucky I have enough interest at trying to come up with some filler filled media. That feeling when you don't have much energy to come up with a meaningful media so you're spewing out 500 word filler for 6 TPE ok thanks. I remember me trying to do the same stuff in SBA week after week. They weren't really happy I have to say. I do have one interesting idea for the article which certainly could exceed 500 word mark. About one particular EU team and their interesting contention ways. And of course I have something interesting on my mind when I'm less invested in the league. Such a shame. But hey fall and winter do exist and I'm for sure not outside a lot during these days. So maybe one day this idea will be materalized. Oh yeah VHL playoffs. Well, nothing to say. Go whoever team! That's it and I'm out.
  8. 1. Rebuild or nah? 2. Are you checking playoff games now? 3. I'm out of the loop for the past week or two. anything interesting happened in vhl as of late? 4. seriously, am I the only one who has a feeling vhl gen discord is more quiet than before? 5. The fall is a month away already. hype or nah? 6. what's your dream concert? [question inspired by Spaz in MGK tour]
  9. 1. What's the vibe heading into the playoff home stretch? gotta agree Ferk, questions all over the place 2. This is the last week of the season, what have you learned the most this year? That I don't like Prague 3. What do you think is the big reason for the VHL having such a long lasting history of 15 years? Members having enough dedication to keep this alive 4. What's a sport or game that you think would be fun as a sim league (other than hockey)? idk, never really thought about it and tbh I dont even have an idea 5. What TV show are you watching right now (if you watch tv)? not watching anything 6. (from hedge) Why is it so hard to make up a decent question? it's hard to come up with a decent answer as well it seems, big sad
  10. more like being busy with being a cannon fodder for Seattle
  11. He said weak EU division the same division you couldnt even crack PPG in a team that didnt even make the playoffs bum ass
  12. I think Riga players will have a nice hand to hand combat conversation with Johansson soon
  13. I even remember a player named Our Lady Of Perpetual Motion wondering who was the member behind that btw w2 claim
  14. 1. Based on the season so far, how confident are you that we can make it to the final this time? I have no idea. kinda eh chances if we're gonna continue to bottle the scoring 2. We are currently in a big slump with the scoring drying up, what do you think is needed to change to help get a run going? Maybe some trade? speaking of which.... 3. Who has been the biggest leader in the locker room this season? Tobias Reinhart and Alexandre Leduc 4. Any idea on what you'd want to do with your next player? idk I need to figure it out something with AK first though 5. How has your summer ben going IRL, any cool vacations? it's kinda aight. could've been better with a better weather you know. prolly still gonna visit my cousin in Tallinn cause why not 6. Can you provide ma decent question to ask in the next presser? why it is so hard to come up with a decent question?
  15. bruh I'm here for the half of VHL life already. idek how some members could spend whole 15
  16. So here it is, VHL is going further into the teenage years as it's celebrating the 15 year anniversary. Some of current members here aren't even that old so that's something. So the theme week said we can look back and reflect and I guess I can do that. Most of memories are gonna revolve around my GM tenure since uhhhh....out of 44 seasons I already spent here I was a managing a team for 35 seasons and counting (including Bratislava). My first comeup - late 40's. Don't exactly remember in which season, but I became something bigger than ''clicker'' with Zeptenbergs in the second half of S40's. I even was leaving teams to FA couple of times and I think this means something. Later I even started to do medias, though it was very uncertain for how long I could last with the grading system we had these days. Luckily for me, that system was abolished which gave me a breathing room and perhaps this was one of main reasons why I actually stayed in this league. Did I have any part in making VHL toxic in S50's? I think, not. Like always I was being a bystander and making lots of side comments in hot threads because why not. You know the feeling when you're reading the hot shitstorm and then comes members who are spamming some random shit ''for fun'' and killing the whole vibe of the thread. I was being like that. I remember that Riga locker when most of times we were discussing Helsinki and @boubabi in particular. That was also pretty much peak Riga forum locker under my tenure. Though the S76 thread blew out the water every other season post number wise, but these days we had more than two members participating in locker. Anyways, yeah VHL was suffering in 50's. Burnout from PP2 and constant drama made members less invested in this league. And new members never really came cause nobody had the energy to recruit. Though ironically these were the days I really started to flourish. Bratislava and then Riga GM, the rise of my activity, making good players... Most fun times #1: ...speaking of which. I really was having fun seeing some members in shook when 450 TPE Krīgars started to light up the league for some reason. Well, with the help with the 440 TPE inactive Locke. You think 70's meta is something new? Riga was out there exploiting this in late 50's already, though I obviously never knew anything about 40 passing meta stuff. Also, Petenis in mid 50's was something lol. PP2 Another part of history of the league. Not a small part either, even to this day this is being mentioned. The higher ups were trying to save the league from dying by implementing idea from @Molholt. We did get more players, but also on top of that we got more players that got burned out from trying to work with 2 players at the same time. By the way, Krīgars was the product of PP2. At least it gave VHL more hall of fame players...eh? Most fun times #2: It correlates with the previous two points. Winning is fun and having back to back is even better. Everything worked in our and my favor. Getting a hall of fame goalie for cheap, meta being on our side. For obvious reasons I was a fan of that. Beaviss. At this point pretty much iconic member for VHL. He came in S56 and quickly climbed up in ranks with his hella active energy. Seeing that this league is not far from crumbling he decided to do something. No, not to quit VHL. He and his ''right hand'' @Spade18 actually managed to do a proper recruitment which actually gave results in rather quick fashion. Some of the first wave first gens that came in early 60's are still in this league. His efforts in recruitment brought us to the first point of culmination - the S66 draft which was the biggest and deepest the VHL has ever seen by that time. He kept his energy until mid 70's when the league was already very far away from the 50's shitshow times. @Beaviss VHL portal. ''It goes hand in hand'' - pretty much recruitments relations to portal. The idea that was started by @Devise(?) was done in real life by @Will in early 60's. Then it was and still being improved by @Josh and @Dil. The portal is named one of the biggest reasons why the recruitment was so successful. Earning TPE and updating player became an easier job. It made VHL more casual which appeared to be a positive since more members were buying into this idea. My first step down - S54. Yall out there thought I only started this in mid 60's? In my very first season in Riga I had a dubious trade idea which never worked so I went to cry a river to not so oldhead GM @Banackock and told him I'm about to step down. Oh if he ever knew who will still be Riga GM in 31 seasons he would probably told me that this job is not for me. Instead, he was telling me to not give up....well I didn't lol. My least favorite playoff series. S65, Toronto 4-1 Riga. Thanks I hated that. I was so pissed I even was typing in caps lock on and I pretty much never do that even when I'm mad. So you know how livid was I after losing game 5. Dead puck era (S64 - 72) The successful recrutment effort brought lots of fresh blood into this league which meant we had less horrible teams that could be dunked on. The scoring league wide went down really quick and even having expansion teams didn't stop overall scoring from plummeting. We were witnessing some fascinating achievements like winning the scoring title with as low as 88 points. Goalies for sure were eating really good these days. Second big rectuitment wave (S72-75) Well, you could say it wasn't as much as recruitment crew job as it was from something unfortunate thing. That thing was named C-19 and the lockdowns that were a result of this virus. People had nothing much to do at home all the times and VHL was the one way how to spend the time. Regardless if you were a sim league veteran or a newbie. The draft classes were really booming these days which culminated in the biggest draft in VHL history - S75. That was really something huge and I'm pretty glad I had lots of picks there hah. Some of newbies from that timeline are already holding high positions in this league and one of them was even a commish for a moment. Truly great days. My least favorite period (S77-81) I think I don't need to explain again why. Good summer, shit results, lots of job. All of that came up in one time and drove me out of the league for the most part. My activity during that time was the worst since early Zeptenbergs days. Thanks, I hated that too. Meta/high scoring (S76-82) I have to say, the first seedings of that were planted earlier by @FrostBeard's Malmo. Even in S71 when he tried to rebuild during the season I felt like the players he got from that big Riga/Malmo trade actually made this team more offensive based as their builds were scoring friendly. That even helped them to leapfrog Helsinki for the last playoff spot though before that trade they were trailing behind. Couple of seasons later he assembled players that were really about scoring and not much else and that worked pretty well. Not without Condor's help of course, but still. Soon enough, they won a championship. In fairness, I doubt Frost had any idea about making the scoring heavy team, he just was drafing and trading for players that were fitting into their timeline and that's really about it. Neither other GM's were watching him like that. But something here was really up - get more scoring first players; do not even bother for physical or passers and get what you want. Other GM's were starting to do the same stuff (though again, I don't think Malmo was the reason). Year by year we were witnessing teams getting more scoring based until @Nykonax said fuck it and assemble a 40 passing team. I think we all know how it went for his managed Vancouver and why the hybrid system was implemented in the first place. VHLE (S80 - ) Something nobody ever thought it would happen. A third league. The so called ''C-19 recruitment'' also brought a good amount for clickers who weren't that active to have a big role in a team, but still were decent enough to have a spot in a team. Soon enough teams were having large problems to land them anywhere since they had no cap or roster space. In the attempt of these 300-400 TPE clickers not ending up without a team this league was created. Alright, enough about history stuff I'm tired and I'm off to sleep soon. That's it and I'm out.
  17. 1. How is your player doing halfway through the season? Wanted for some more, but it's E league so whatever 2. How is your summer coming along IRL? It's aight events wise. As for weather, I'm not satisfied. 3. COVID seems to be picking up again with the new variant, do you expect the team to put any health measures in place? No masks/vaccines/safety whatsoever. Then every other team is contracting the illness from us so when we're getting well again we will become champs by default as the only healthy team. 4. Who has been the most surprising player of the season? Not paying much attention outside of Riga, so let's say Cheese having a breakout year. 5. How are your Prediction Points lining up with actual events of the season? I have no idea. we shall see when the time comes 6. What team outside of Riga has the biggest shot at winning it all? Honestly, if Moscow once again chokes with their current form. Spartan needs to be banned for that.
