First off, the pre-trade deadline madness from Vancouver! Now that the theme week stuff is over I can come back to stat pad word out by doing trade reviews. Works everytime for me. And luckily I have more than one trade to look at. Big thanks to Frank for trying to change things for his Vancouver. And in fairness, this was not really surprising at all. The conference semis loss last season was a sad moment, but with Nico Pearce and other bigger players still being intact; you would think there would be a progress in performance this season. However, it looks like the loss of Miklavz did hamper their offensive potential. They were rather solid, but never really spectacular and their results showed the same story. Fighting for the wildcard spot was not the scenario Frank wanted to witness so here comes the trifecta of trades. Let's check these out and see if anything has changed since these deals. To LW - Donny Carter S88 RIG 3rd To C - William Futch D - Wattson Power The first part of Frank's trade madness and this already has some spice in it. For Vancouver: it was apparent that 5 points in 22 games wouldn't do wonders for a team that aims for the grandest prize of them all. It was also apparent that Futch had no chance of doing better since he was a rookie in a stacked team. The trade market was rather dry at that point and Carter was definitely one of the best choices there. His heavy pass first build was a concern, but even with that he seemed a definite upgrade over a rookie. They also got a possibly early third (likely for Futch) so that's cool. They had to part ways with Power, but with the upcoming cap crunch and the pending UFA status for is making this less problematic. For Malmo: This trade was a sign of defeat from Malmo management. Kaleeb saw there is nothing much happening and other 5 EU contender teams are having way better performance. Hence the white towel thrown. In return they got a potentially decent depth piece and a good defenceman for couple of seasons....if they can convince Power to stay. They gave up a third in the process, but I'd say it's nothing major for them. In overall, I would say no one lost in this trade. Is there a winner though? Depends on Vancouver's performance from now on and if Malmo can keep Power. By the way, let's see how things went for players involved in this. 34 games after: LW - Donny Carter: 4G/17A, 21P, 70 HITS, -4 Well, better than Futch. I wouldn't say he brought a hell of a boost into their offensive performance. And his -4 is a bit unfortunate. But at least this was an upgrade. Vancouver only can hope he can show up in the playoffs and remember his first two runs with Riga. C - William Futch: 4G/4A, 8P, -12 D - Wattson Power: 6G/24A, 30P, 68 SB, +0 This trade didn't change a thing for William. In theory Malmo has less stacked forward lineup so there's more chance to put up numbers. But like in Vancouver he is getting outshined by more seasoned players. At this point all he can do is grind develop some patience. At some point he could become a decent second line option, but for now it's a waiting period. As for Power, he went from jumping between 2D/3D in the Wolves den to being a definite 2D in Malmo. I'd say things didn't change a lot for a Canadian either. In any case he had a defenseman or two ahead of him in terms of skills and performance. Whether it was Biggie Cheese or Max Torq. The most interesting part is his pending UFA status. He still has like 3 weeks or so to decide whether he believes in Kaleeb's vision or he will search for another contender. Alright, I think this is already over 500 words so I could finish things here. But wait, there is more! To C - Sergey Preobrazhensky To C/LW - Nico Pearce Straight up a players swap. But a pretty big one. I already can say there is losers or winners in this one. Just trying to change things with this one. For Vancouver: There were so many expectations from Pearce for this season. And I believe lots of members were putting him as a winner of multiple awards in their predictions which was anything but surprising. He had a down season from S84, but 99 point season was enough to still consider him as a major threat. However, with the glue man Miklavz being gone the chemistry between him and other Vancouver players went almost non existent. 32 in 32 was never horrible, but not up to the expectations Spartan or Frank have set before this season. Things had to be changed and here is the result. The pending UFA for Preo does bring some concern for the Wolves side, but I expect an extension sooner than later. For Moscow: Same story. The Russian was set to be the franchise center once all the bigger ones were gone. And like Pearce he was doing fine...which was not good enough for the 5 time finalist Spartan. Moscow's offense wasn't anything crazy and you guessed it right, the chemistry between Preo and other Moscow forwards wasn't major. For Moscow, this trade is a bit easier as Nico is Spartan's player so he can do with his own player whatever he wants. 24 games after: C - Sergey Preobrazhensky: 15G/15A, 30P, 179 SH, 59.95% FO, +4 I'd say both teams got a bit better with this trade. The stat Sergey did improve the most following this trade was the face offs. From 54 percent to almost 60 in Vancouver. And in overall it looks like he has a slightly better chemistry with Leduc and other characters than Nico had. C/LW - Nico Pearce: 14G/16A, 30P, 141SH, 56.11% FO, +13 You guessed it right, the same story. As Preo, the Greek's face offs improved after this trade. From not even being able to win the half of the battles on the dot to almost 56 percent. His defence also proved to be a better asset: from just +2 to +13 in Spart's own team. Also 61 hits is a notable stat, but I think this is not really relevant for the team that mostly wants to see more exciting offense. Alright, to the last one! To D - Obe Adesanya To S88 RIG 3rd Yay I got my own third back that I spent on Noodles Marconi. Also, Vancouver brought a 4th defenseman they needed after parting ways with Power. For Vancouver: I just said wassup in my last sentence. Adesanya actually wasn't the first choice for Frank due to his low speed stat, but apparently nothing better was available. So here it is. For Riga: I got my own third back. Enough said. 22 games after: D - Obe Adesanya: 1G/2A, 3P, 30 SB, +9 I guess his +9 shows that he is not a liability at defence. So we'll leave it at that. TRADE DEADLINE EDITION! Just like most of the trade deadlines as of past lots of seasons. This one was not having much in it. What a shame. Off season hype! Anyways, I'm out there covering every trade so the next one will get the same treatment. To G Sam Tombstone Tp S88 CHI 4th For Davos: Sam did get his 8 games, but apparently there was a need for more starts. Davos was searching for a suitable buyer for a day or two. Luckily, there was a team who didn't have any backup starts as of now yet...at least I think they wouldn't screw Cole Pearce like that. So here it is, Sam will get 16 starts this season. Not bad for a 360 something TPE goalie. Also I need to point it out Alex took S88 pick instead of the S87 one. Looks like GM's already have no faith in the depth of this draft so they are moving one already. For Chicago: I guess they will hope Sam is better than a bot. The 4th round pick is obviously not a loss at all for a contender. EDIT 9:59 PM EET. Looks like I was too quick at bashing this trade deadline..... To S87 CHI 1st S88 CHI 3rd To D - Wattson Power C - William Futch In the span of 2 weeks the ex Vancouver players became the ex Malmo as well. Matter of fact, they are back in NA! They are now going to play directly against Vancouver and perhaps they may even face each other in the playoffs. Ain't that some shit. For Malmo: The theme continues here. Malmo has nothing to play for so getting picks is the best bet for their future. There was no guarantee Power would sign an extension with the middling squad. And perhaps Futch wasn't exactly the guy of the tomorrow for Kaleeb and co. I think getting a first here is huge, even if it ends up late. And getting a S88 pick is even better. Now just hoping that draft will be more deep than the upcoming one. For Chicago: Jeff was searching for the players to round up the roster for a good chunk of time. And the idea was right: the 5/3 roster looks weird when you do have some cap left. The thing is, this team did manage to somehow be a powerhouse with the limited roster. It's one thing to win the cup with 6/3 setup, but having one of the best records in the league with one forward short as well? That's something more impressive. Being a brick at defence with only one high TPE defenceman? In short, that performance was kind of unusual. But looks like the Phoenix GM was never feeling that this would take them to the promised land and decided to make an insurance move. Now the question is: will it work? Honestly, Futch as of now stands as ''better than a bot'' player and more eyes are on Wattson Power here now. He is about to slotted as the definite 2D, just like in Malmo. He is in general having a decent showing no matter in which team he plays and I expect no different in this case. So what the fuss is about? Well, you all know everything about STHS...right? Like for sure you should know.....??? Yes exactly, nobody know a damn thing about this simulator engine and how it is operating! You never know what is thing about to do next. One day you're in the top of the world and then it hands you a L15 streak. Even in this trade there might be concern or two. The main of them is about their chemsitry and roster balance. Futch is a bit better than a bot, Power...is a lot better than a thing with 40 stats everywhere. Seattle already shown that going overboard with defence may end up in a disappointment. Now, Chicago only has two higher TPE defs so chances in going downhill are pretty miserable to me. Still, there are some questions lingering on my mind. It would be really cruel if the right idea would be undone by shenanigans from STHS. So for the sake of justice, let's hope they will actually become stronger following this trade. Oh, here's a bonus trade hehe. TRADE DEADLINE EDITION 2 : ELECTRIC BOOGALOO [a.k.a. what could've been if the cap space didn't exist]! To G - Oskar Lindbergh To Wumbo S87 LDN 2nd For Toronto: straight forward. Getting a pick for a goalie who was not planning to extend. And a second rounder as well, which is even better because I'm sure by the offseason his value would've been devalued even further. On top of that a decent goalie who probably had some value too. In overall, Toronto surely was being fine with this result. For Warsaw: honestly, I wasn't sure if this is exactly what they needed. Wumbo has been rock solid for the most of times and never showed signs of slowing down. Yes, there is a TPE difference between Lindbergh and Wumbo, but I don't think performance wise the latter was the worse option. Also, with the potential extension the cap crunch would've been too real and that would result in a loss of a big TPE player or two. Long story short, I think Warsaw dodged a slap in the wrist here. But for me, the biggest loser in this trade being veto'ed was Lindbergh himself. The potential FA market was not telling a positive story for the seasoned vet. And with David Davis also potentially leaving London to create a space for Teno...this was a definitely blow for Doom's chances to find a good team even before the off season. Now he is likely hoping for someone like Calgary or Warsaw again to try replace the lower and inactive S82 goalies. If they would have a cap space in the first place. Alright, thanks every GM who helped me to get his over 2000 words. See ya in the offseason. That's it and I'm out.

1. did you care about trades this trade deadline? 2. how proud are you from this move from our team's member @OrbitingDeath ? 3. any predictions on the football world cup semi finals? (if you watch that) 4. Can Weaver hit point per game before the season ends? 5. are you more excited about the next season or the draft lotto/draft itself first? 6. try to predict how much shot blocks Marino will have after regular season.

Wanted to create something else on theme week, but people said I only can do about recent first gens. Lame. Here's you a list current Riga first gens. And I do need 500 words so I will talk about inactive ones as well. Thank you very much. [S83] C - James Kagelberg @MatiasMa Actually he joined in with a storm and was pretty active in VHL gen in first 2 or 3 days. However, not much people were paying attention to him and his excitement waned out real quick. I assume he never felt he was fitting there and slowly went from active to clicker to inactivity. What a shame. [S83] RW - Ronaldono Ronaldono @ThomasSyster Fairly sure he was an auto pick so I havent reached up to him immediately. Yeah I was on sleep mode by that time already. I tried to get him in once but he never responded. He did reach up to 251 TPE which was enough to spend a season in VHLE too. Not bad I guess? [S80] LW - James Glove Dropper @Jamomayo Now onto the borderline zone. He's being on/off'ing as of late so I guess he can reach up to 600 TPE at some point. Managed to make the VHL relatively quick and now is playing his 4th season in the majors. Even made the playoffs once with Calgary in his rookie season. Was traded to us this season after spending couple of seasons in LA. All in all, decent player. [S81] C - Daniel Clarke @Danzo There's something about DC and finding 4th rounders who actually can keep this up and evetually making the pros. Was drafted 62nd by the Dragons and managed to crack their roster in S84. Made the playoffs as well. Then was traded to us in the Karprizov trade and since then is a Riga player. Was having a rough +/- last season since not having a good chemistry in the second line. Now he is still in the 2nd unit, but his partner in crime Bentley is doing way more wonders. Already beat his career best in points, the only question is - by how much. Mostly being a clicker, but occasionally doing a press conference. [S81] RW - Gus Bentley @boatsinking123 Speaking about Bentley. Another late round pick, was drafted to another team which name starts with D. Davos though. Spent more seasons in lower tier leagues before making his debut this season. There was a chance to make his first appearance last season in Riga, but I was reluctant in sending picks. Anyways, it still happened this season and perhaps it was a better scenario for him. Right now he is the only VHL rookie with 1 PPG and is now leading 12 points on the second best rookie. Disregard the +/- stat...we're tanking you know. Very good start I have to say. Mostly being a clicker for now. [S86] RW - Grizz Tazzo @xslapxshotsx Speaking about Davos. Alex was really interested to grab him and even offered me couple of lower thirds and fourths, but I was meh on that. So far so great. His time on Mexico is being productive so far [58 points in 44 games] and a good chance he could make a VHLE debut next season. Right now he is mixing between clicking and clicking plus (that's doing PC, trivia, vhl.com and stuff). Pretty good as for a late round pick. Sorry not sorry Alex. [S86] LW - Sadie St-Louis @sadie The most promising Riga first gen. Also the best first gen of the S86 draft so it wasn't a wonder she went in a lotto zone (4th overall). Right now spending her season in VHLE's Stockholm. She already produced 62 points in 46 games; considering that Sadie was a borderline PPG at the start of the season, the progress is real here. Set to debut in the majors following this season so Mubbles better produce a cup. Right now max earning each week so hedge is happy here. Ok, enough. That's it and I'm out.

1. Do you like the topic of the theme week? 2. Does the season feel slow for you? 3. Do you expect any trades this week? 4. are you already preparing for xmas? 5. what do you celebrate more: xmas or new year eve? 6. how many shot blocks Weaver will have after the reg season?
-
Fairly sure Adesanya was a D on index at the early season. For some reason he went back to forward. Also move Mathias to forward while we're at it.

1. What would be your words of confidence to a team that is in the bottom end of the league? what @ThePerfectNut said. also, yall actually have nice stats so dont hang your heads 2. Who would you consider to be the team MVP so far? Bentley decided to make a run for the rookie award yay 3. What kind of things is the coach doing to help make this season easier on the team? talking about the ''theres always next season'' shit all the time....does that help actually? 4. Who do you think is the most promising young player in Riga's sysem? The S85-87 core 5. Have you been watching the World Cup, if so who are you cheering for? I'm impartial. may the best win and all of that stuff 6. Name a meal that is very popular in your local area/country. Do you like it? still grey peas n speck. I'm neutral on it

Like most of other seasons, this one was supposed to be quiet in terms of trades. But thanks to a trade addict who goes by the name of Alex, half panicking Bana and some sprinkles from a not-so-sleeping GM anymore (thank you Spartan) we will have more deals to talk about. At first, a very first trade was supposed to be a three way. But after more talks and twists we got five teams producing 4 different trades in two days. Now I'm gonna talk about them a bit. *Disclaimer: the first trade review was written on Sunday. The second one - yesterday. I finished the last two today. Yup, can't do things in one day anymore. Blame Cole teams. To Calix Pearce S87 SEA 3rd S88 SEA 3rd To Deron Nesbitt For Davos: At this moment Davos is doing fine, but looks like they always could do better. As of this moment Nesbitt amassed 10 points in 14 games which is actually decent for a guy with the non scoring style of play. But could he perform like that in the longterm...I'm honestly not sure. For me, Calix isn't a much worse option so it shouldn't lower their potential for too much. Freeing some cap space for other possible deals is a factor too. Another interesting fact - this trade makes sure Davos are keeping their own S88 second round pick. Sneaky Alex with sneaky conditions. I don't think Rayz will be extremely happy to see this turn of events. For Seattle: Now this is more complicated. Bana once again managed to avoid the rebuild, but it doesn't look like the roster is ready to shine like a diamond. Matter of fact, they do look...mid. Obviously this result won't cut it for the 7 time champ so he is back searching for options. So I guess here's is the first step. And for now, I'm not sure if this is going to do something for Seattle. Yes, 10 points is definitely more than three from less active Pearce. But Nesbitt's build still looks like a Walmart store version of Sakamoto so is this really an upgrade? Sure, maybe defensively and perhaps this is some upping from Calix. I just don't think it's going to make a huge boost in scoring and this team is definitely lacking at that so far. When you score the same amount and shoot even less times than Riga, you know this is not it. I imagine Bana already spamming AW's dms about putting all of the upcoming TPE to the scoring skills. Otherwise, I'm not sure what was he even trying to do with this trade in the first place. *By the way, my early predictions put Seattle at third place in NA...backfired already? To S87 LAS 1st S88 SEA 2nd Babushka To Ryuji Sakamoto For Toronto: Now we can see how lucky Toronto has been when the potential offseason trade with Malmo never went through. Instead of couple of seconds and thirds they managed to grab a potential lotto pick and a second round in the process. Plus Babushka, I think Moon doesn't mind to have him on his team too. Might be a depth peace in the future or not. Who knows. Anyways, nice deal for the Legion in my books. For Seattle: Speaking of Sakamoto...when I started to write this article this trade wasn't a thing yet. But now Seattle grabbed another high cap defensive defenceman, but this time it's a 5.5M DFD. Unless any of Sakamoto/Nesbitt (or both) are upping the scoring skills like right now...I have no idea what is Bana trying to say here. These players are certainly better than Calix Pearce and Babushka, but is that exactly what they need right now? Also, they just assembled a roster with 4 high TPE defencemans and very often this strategy ends up in a first round exit at best. By looking at their current builds, I just don't understand how are they supposed to bring this team to the stardom. This is still a team with the limited scoring potential and unless these two are gonna stop with this 40/40 experiment; my grade for the trade for Seattle is gonna be an L. *And no, the 9-1 run didn't convince me. If anything, the defence indeed became a better unit. But my opinion on their offensive potential stands. To Noodles Marconi To S87 LAS 2nd James Glove Dropper For Riga: Our situation is rather simple. If I'm trading, then it's for some picks or youth. These two trades brought me picks, and I'm very fine about it. Considering I spent a third on Marconi this offseason, flipping him for a potential early second is a good result for us. And Glove Dropper may have some better stats in store since we're not stacked at all. For LA: As of the moment of finishing this article the team was not enjoying lots of success so far. Ironically, Riga contributed to their struggles last sim by robbing full 2 points from them. The biggest concern this team has is still the forward lineup and Rockstar is trying to change this narrative. In theory, Glove dropper has a decent scoring skill, but in overall his skillset isn't very balanced. That definitely stopped him from reaching bigger milestones so Noodles here we come. Basically, the Italian has more balanced offensive build and also he is way younger. Even if Eynallow never comes back; his player is still going to be serviceable for 2 or 3 seasons down the road. Expecting more attempts from the Stars GM to boost their offensive potential. To Sunrise van de Schubbekuteveen To S87 SEA 3rd Maxwell Mathias For Riga: Same story. Matter of fact, this is a free third since Sunrise joined Riga via free agency. And as a result of this trade the Dutch with the long last name will have his last shot at the cup. Just this time, not in Chicago. For Davos: Makes sense. They freed the cap space a bit with the Nesbitt trade so why not having an upgrade over Mathias who has never been a shooting master. Matter of fact, he is an E level player at best, but now Riga will try to make his statline somewhat respectable. Outside of +/- of course. By the way, Sunrise already have couple of points allocated to faceoff skill. Maybe Alex can tell him to upgrade that even further to finally have some 2C action. There you have it, a little analysis about the 4 trades with half of them being mine. Nothing more to say about it. That's it and I'm out. 2w of claim

1. Despite being last in the conference, how do you feel about the start for the re-building squad? It's all good. Get a star D prospect from the draft or trade and we're set. 2. Anything going on in the league this season that's surprising you? Nothing that stands to me so far. That's probably the most surprising part. 3. What city are you looking forward to on an upcoming road trip? I'm not gonna talk much here. first, I need to stay away from flu then we can talk. 4. What's a skill you never see your player mastering, and you've already accepted? breaking Scotty points record 5. American Thanksgiving is this weekend. What is your favorite holiday? My bday of course. 6. Favorite burger joint? tbh can't tell, we don't have much of em.

In fairness you still had a more or less stacked forward group. Now, outside of Preo and Sogaard the rest looks kinda light so it's more challenging. you could call that. Not S tier defence.

That feeling when you have lots of ideas for 2000 word articles but your desire is only strong enough for barely scrapping 500. NA conference Rock bottom: . Enough said. There are still some peaces to sell and I think Peace would land some more picks to them. Other than that, nothing much. Good goalie and defensive skills with almost non existent offense. 8th place, no higher than that. MISS: . Yup. New York did some progress, like finally bringing in a legit 2C. Also I feel Zaza could be a better fit for Mourning than Le Massif was. Anyways, the defence does not convince me at all. I'm failing to see who exactly will provide rebound chances for forwards so that sucks a lot. And depth isn't that crazy either. 6th place for me. As for the west coast - it's other way around. After checking their forward roster I only have one question - who is even supposed to score on consistent basis besides Miglasķēms and DB III maybe? I don't think over reliance on Vandelay gonna help much here. 7th place. Thinking face: . I guess Jeff is still trying to find the way to complete the full roster. I'm kinda feeling a deja vu here - pretty mid regular season and maybe making an upset or two in the playoffs. And they have a bot at forward lineup, this ain't it. 5th place. Not convinced/unproven: . The defending champs are falling the first category. Eno really out there with a bold strategy - all in for forwards and hope Kitson gonna be a relevant replacement for Sova. I don't think it's gonna happen so here it is. 4th place. Seattle uhhh....I don't know. Bana out there giving chances to shine to players who have been rather mid before. Florida Man, DeGroot. Hogan stepping into the uncharted teritorry at being a center. Their depth is concerning though. Basically, champs or being swept in the wildcard; anything is possible with them. 3rd place. I like their chances: . I'm not sure how is the offense gonna perform outside of Leduc/Pearce and their def isn't that elite. But in overall, good enough team to not worry about their playoff chances. 2nd place. I think Calgary gonna pull Calgary once again. Letting off their steam in the regular season and then getting thrown out in the first round. They have one of the finest forwards in the league, but STHS doesn't care apparently. And their goaltending isn't great too. 1st place. Europe Rock bottom: . I mean, it's just how it is. I'm honestly not sure where exactly these teams are gonna land in standings cause they are both equally tanking tier. I'll say Riga at 7th and Helsinki at 8th cause I feel our offense is slightly better. But only thing that really matters to us is the draft lotto. MISS: . If they think Carter is gonna be a dream partner for Molotov...just no. Their offense just looks meh and Torq never really proved his worth yet. Goalie also isn't anything crazy. The team just screams mid to me. 6th place. Not convinced: . Alex out there twisting team's roster in offseason just to end up with no 2C at all. I mean at least he could've told Mitchell to apply these banked to faceoffs, but naaah. This New York strategy isn't gonna end up great imo. At least their offense looks better than Murrican's last year. 5th place. Not A tier: . None of them forwards had big seasons yet and replacing Zaza with Chiang is an interesting move to say the least. At least Dil didn't pay for that. The team is relying a lot on defence and goaltending. Maybe for too much. 4th place. Can they still hang: . Who knows. The second line/pair will answer to this question eventually and I swear if AK pulls out a mediocre performance. I'm feeling there is a slight down season in store though. The dream of 6th finals isn't dead though. 3rd place. I like their chances: . Warsaw is praying hard on Payne right now. I believe he can do a lot, but not sure if everything. But the forward group does look pretty stacked. Also rip Wumbo going inactive. 2nd place. Not gonna lie, Prague looks really nice on paper. The only question here is can Jokinen finally pull a major season. He's always been into the good but not great category and the team now needs the greatest effort by him. Otherwise there might be problems in winning the gold. 1st place. That's it and I'm out.

1. Is this thing on? It's been more than a month since my last presser - how is everyone? I'm aight I think. and yes this thing gonna be on since we have more members 2. Does this offseason seem like its taking forever? it was hella long imo. the draft also could've happened quicker 3. What has your player been doing to train for the upcoming season? scoring/defence. nothing unique 4. Are you excited for the holidays or more sad about the snow (assuming it happens where you live)? snow can be in new year. other than that, it can fuck off 5. I never use Discord, do you prefer to chat there or on the forum? dont care tbh. wish @Eynhallow would come back to have a locker room thread for nostalgia sake 6. What's the most surprising thing you're seeing in the NHL so far ? (mine is Carter Hart = good blue jackets actually being doodoo juice. imo the team is borderline playoff team, but this aint it
