  1. Ruutu article that's political? I'm not surprised. I'd be surprised if you made good content for once.
  2. 1. I'm not doing well. I expected that though. I choose randomly. 2. I'd be an assistant GM because most of them don't do anything. I was a VHLM AGM and I worked my butt off, but it seems that in the VHL it's more casual. 3. Honestly I wouldn't want to lose anything, but if I were forced to choose I'd choose hearing. At least with losing the hearing, you can learn ASL and still communicate. Being blind would be a huge handicap 1. How did your player do this season? Happy with their performance? 2. Are you a console player or PC player? 3. The Steam Summer Sale is currently going on, any good deals I should check out? If you don't know or play on PC, what's your favorite game of all time?
  3. 1. Something to do with the Fantasy Zone. A best-of-the-best award for someone who got the most TPE in the FZ for all 5 weeks. 2. Lowest seeded VHL vs VHLE champs with a caveat. Only if the VHLE-capped players can spend before the game starts. 3. You get to hang out with your teammates and go through everything together. I haven't been in the other leagues, but this one has been very welcoming. 1. Will the VHL / VHLE / VHLM playoffs be predictable or will there be big upsets? 2. With the NHL season over, what do you think will happen in FA? 3. What TV series do you recommend?
  4. You only completed round 2 and 4 entries
  5. 1. I think we are a good team but I do think that a move would have been a smart thing to do. Something to shake up the core. 2. I enjoyed the one about vacations from a few seasons ago. I was able to flex my muscles and go over a topic that I love in Roller Coasters. 3. It's a cheeseburger 100%. It's a classic BBQ staple and required. 1. What is a trade that you want your NHL or any other sports team to make? 2. Do you think it's more important to draft well or have a marketable team for free agents? 3. What is on your summer playlist?
  6. Back in 2020, I was bored at home during the lockdown. That’s when I saw the ad for the VHL on an NHL 20 YouTube video. I thought to myself, screw it I’ll join. 4 years later, here I am. It’s been a wild ride. The VHLM was my first encounter with the league. Justin Lose was my first-ever player in the VHL. Philadelphia was the only team to make an offer on my creation page. I was excited but still had doubts about the league, but the GM of the Reapers was an astounding help. @DMaximus helped me with claiming and being that newbie guide. I remember being in the locker room chat on Discord and being so excited to possibly make the playoffs and how disappointed we were when we missed it by a few points. I was hooked on claiming and getting my player better each week. So when I went into the draft and got drafted 18th overall by Mexico City, I was excited! Thanks to GM and AGM of @hylands and @rory, it was a fun environment. We were a top team too! We made a deep playoff run losing in the finals to the Philadelphia Reapers. That one stung. We went from missing the playoffs with the Reapers to losing to the Reapers who won the cup. So my first two trips to the VHLM were “failures”. Missing the playoffs, and then losing in the cup finals. This time I went to the VHLM with a new perspective, becoming AGM for the Minnesota Storm with @Laine. I was able to shine by showing off my Excel skills and scouting reports. It was at this point, I fell in love with being in management and wanted to be a GM for a team in the VHLM. After the success in helping Laine with the Storm, I was hired to be the next GM of the Mexico City Kings. I was hired in Season 80. This was after a strong playoff push in Season 79 that led to them being eliminated in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Season 80 - Missed Playoffs Season 81 - Swept in the first round by Ottawa Season 82 - Lost in 7 games to Houston in the 2nd round Season 83 - Missed Playoffs Season 83 was when I started a new job at my company. This change had me going to the office 5 days a week instead of 5 days working from home. This also meant I couldn’t be on the forum, waiting for new people to sign up and create players. Plus missing the playoffs again meant I didn’t have the heart anymore. I knew I had to step down and let someone else take the mantle. Happening parallel to me being a GM was my newest player, Scoish Velociraptor Maloish. His only season in the VHLM was with the Houston Bulls in Season 82. The Houston team that eliminated my team in 7 games. But they would fall in the finals in 7 games to the Saskatoon Wild. My 2nd player would skip the VHLM draft and go straight to the VHLE. The 3rd time is the charm, right? Wrong. Wally Lose is my current player and is a VHLM loser (pun intended). I went to the Mexico City Kings to hopefully win the cup with my old team. We would fall to Miami in the 1st round. So I go into the draft again with the hope of finally winning something. I was drafted to Ottawa for the first time. This team was a dominating force, coming in as the #1 seed for the playoffs. Unfortunately, at this point, you can already tell where this is headed. We were swept in the cup finals. Overall, I enjoyed my time in the VHLM. I’ll try to earn enough to graduate early, but if I don’t reach that goal I’ll have fun with it. The VHLM is a great way to meet new people too. I’ve made a lot of great friends in the VHLM. 3 Players, 3 Teams, 3 Failed Cup wins. Am I the Corey Perry of the VHLM? Make notes VHLM GMs! If you want a cup final appearance, just draft me!
  7. Making me pick between Ottawa / Philly / Mexico City is a travesty. Hardest FZ question ever.
  8. 1. I think that wouldn't work. It would cause the people on the relegated team to go inactive or ask to be traded which will only drop them lower. Also, who would take the spot? 2. As an Islander fan, it's gotta be Okposo. He was a workhorse on the Isles and not keeping him was a big mistake. He was such an awesome guy and a huge fan favorite. 3. Baked Mac n Cheese. Bring out the lactade! 1. Do you think Seattle has enough to go Back to Back this season? 2. What do you do when you think your player isn't performing as they should? 3. Who do you think the Conn Smythe should go to?
  9. With @Mysterious_Fish stepping down, and @AJW taking over FZ there was a gap in the NHL pick'ems. I figured I'd help out since this is the Stanley Cup Finals! Gotta get that TPE. Check to see if you completed it! Form will close before Game 2 (Monday at 8 PM ET) And because I like the stats that @AJW does, here are some about the finals: 13 People (14.8%) chose Edmonton as their Cup Winner 8 People (9.1%) chose Florida as their Cup Winner The 2 highest losers were: 18.2% - Carolina Hurricanes - 16 People 15.9% - Dallas Stars - 14 People It probably will be the last time I'm doing anything with FZ. It was an honor. You are all in good hands with @AJW.
  10. When Wally first arrived in Rome, he was unsure of how he would adapt to the new environment. The jump from Ottawa to Rome was drastic. This was the first time he was outside of North America as well. The VHLE would be the start of something new for Wally. A new team, a new league, a fresh start. Being a new player on the team isn't always easy. "Coming out of training camp, I was told I would be practicing with the top line. I felt honored. I knew it would be a lot of work to stay on that line. I worked every day with my linemates to build chemistry. But it seems that it was all for nothing. I feel like I'm on a deserted island whenever I'm on the ice." 18 games into the season and the transition has not been kind to Wally Lose and the Rome Gladiators. Wally was put onto the first line after training camp and had a lot of expectations. To say he has not been meeting them is an understatement. He only has 4 goals and 2 assists in those 18 games. The chemistry that was being built in the training camp has vanished. Nothing seems to be clicking for Wally on the team. What does this mean for Wally, for the future of Rome? "I'm frustrated and disappointed in myself. 6 points in 18 games on the first line is not going to cut it. I'm going to have to take a step back and re-evaluate my standings with the team. If it means being demoted, I guess, I'll do whatever it takes for the team to start winning again. I'm going to be talking to my coaches to see where they see me fitting in better moving forward. If the extreme measure is to be traded, so be it. Something's got to give here. I'll do whatever is right for the team." Is Rome the right fit for Wally? Would a trade work out better for him? The coach / GM will have a lot of work to do to see what will work for Wally and get the team back to their winning ways. It's also still early in the season to be worrying about stats. Rome is currently in a playoff spot, but teams are catching up to them. Wally has to find his groove if he wants to make a big splash in the VHL.
  11. Game Recap: Game 48 Bratislava looks to continue their homestand with another win against the visiting Oslo Storm. Bratislava is coming in with a victory against Vasteras in a blowout 6-1. Oslo is coming in after a tough loss against the Stockholm Vikings. Both teams are looking to climb the standings with a win tonight. Every point matters in this tough schedule for these teams. Hugo Boss was a brick wall in the game against the Iron Eagles but got pulled very early in this contest after letting in 2 goals. Jack Dickins and Ivan Ivanov both scored at 3:39 and 12:05 respectively. The Bratislava coach was not satisfied with Boss' performance. The bot goalie takes his place as the starter. Steve French tries to get the crowd back in it at 14:37 to cut the deficit to 1. Leo Neelson III shuts down the crowd with their goal at 16:01 of the 1st period. Jack Dickins solidifies the quiet crowd as they score to make it 4-1. Shots were 22 to 6 in favor of the Storm. Leo Neelson III was back to ruin the home crowd's fun with a goal at 13:48 in the 2nd period. Steve French scores again at 14:44 to give some life to the Bratislava squad. The defense was too much for the Watchmen as they fell to the Storm 5-2 at home. Shots in the game were 53 - 30 in favor of the Storm. The bot goalie for the Watchmen came in and stopped 45 out of the 48 shots faced to keep the team in it. It was too much for them to handle though. Oslo and Bratislava meet again tomorrow for a rematch with the Watchmen being the hosts again.
  12. Game Recap: Game 43 Wednesday night hockey starts with an intense matchup for critical points in the standings. The Watchmen are hosting the Iron Eagles in Bratislava. Bratislava is above Vasteras in the standings by only a few points. A win tonight would give them some breathing room. The first period was a slow opener as the Iron Eagles outshot the Watchmen 14-6. It wasn't until 6:32 in the 1st period that Filip Zinek broke the ice and gave the home crowd something to cheer for. That's his 2nd goal of the season with assists from Pierre Marc Bouchard and Steve French. The second period saw the most action as an explosion of goals occurred. Vasteras tied the game up at 9:29 with a goal from Eugene Ryanheart for his 10th of the season. Not to be outdone, Bratislava fought back to take the lead and scored only a few minutes later at 13:13 by Ocean Codoller. Less than 30 seconds later Filip Zinek gets his second goal. To add to the excitement, Steven French scores at 14:52 on the powerplay and gives the home team a 4-1 lead. Things calmed down, but at 18 minutes, Aeschylus Jigglejawns CXXXVII II [good lord] scores their 7th goal of the season. Bratislava flipped the tables with the shots and dominated with a 21-7 shot difference. The third period was calmer compared to the other two. Only Andrew Skilton at 8:30 scored a goal for the Bratislava squad to make it 6-1 which would stick as the final score. The home crowd was excited as they got 2 critical points in the race for the playoffs. Ondrej Vencko was pulled after letting in the 3rd goal in the 2nd period, 4th overall. Jorgen Lovstrom was trusted in net and let in 2 more goals stopping 24 out of 26 shots. On the other side of the ice, Hugo Boss was a brick wall in the net only allowing 1 goal on 37 shots. Bratislava moves on to face Oslo at home while Vasteras returns home to face the Cologne Express.
  13. Here is a fun fact about this stretch. The finals run with Maloish was the first time any of my players made it past the first round in the playoffs. This includes my monster season with Seattle with Justin. My player basically has the Toronto curse... Thank you for the pain... (kidding I don't mind)
  14. 1. With Calgary only losing 1 game after 13 games, I have to go with Calgary. That is insane. 2. Catia Goncalves easily. They are tearing it up in the VHL already! 3. Oh this is a tough one. If I choose Google, do I get all the search results? If I decide Twitter do I get all the information from it? If I prefer Facebook, does everyone else keep posting? It's a tough call. 1. Which VHL team do you think has the best future prospects? 2. Do you think the VHLM champs could beat the bottom VHLE team? What about the VHLE champs beating the bottom VHL team? 3. What screams summer for you? (No school, amusement parks, hot days, etc)
  15. I have to somehow get my Sims addiction in the league somehow lol
  16. 1. I think Edmonton is going to win. Edmonton has the best 1 - 2 combo in the league. I also believe that McDavid will step up and carry the team. He needs that ring to be a HOF lock. Dallas is a weird team. They have flashes of amazing, but at the same time, they can be exposed. They went to game 7 with a Vegas squad that barely made the playoffs. On the flip side, Edmonton went to 7 with Vancouver with basically no goalie. So it's a coin flip right now. Also, I hate the Dallas chant. You're just chanting your team's name...? All I hear is Dallas Frauds. 2. Nope nope and nope. I can't give up technology, unfortunately. I work in IT and I need it to do my job. And I don't have hobbies that would take up that time. 3. I prefer blueberry for the taste. Apple is too bitter for me. 1. What do you think your player does in the offseason? Besides just sitting at home or going to practice? 2. How do you feel about Discord? Some of the locker rooms I've been in have been dead. It seems that LRs are only active if they are winning games which is lame. What is your take on that? 3. If you can go on vacation to anywhere in the world for a week, where would you go and why?

  18. "Welcome to the Season 94 VHLE Entry Draft everyone! Tonight is another stepping stone to achieving your goal of getting to the big leagues in VHL. To get to the big leagues you first must compete in our league. The VHLE will test you physically and mentally for the tough road ahead. You'll be facing the best of the future. Be ready to make that difference for your team that drafts you." "... Without further ado, Bratislava, you are on the clock for the first overall pick in this year's draft." Wally Lose was sitting in anticipation for his name to be called. He was sitting next to his family including Justin Lose. "I went from the VHLM straight to the VHL because this league wasn't even around. This is a big moment for you. The first Lose to be drafted in the VHLE. You excited?" Justin nudged Wally. Wally had yet to process what was said as he was focused on the stage to see who would be called. "Relax man. It's going to be a long night if you are this tense for every pick. Just sit back and enjoy the moment when it happens." Justin scoffed. "Easier for you to say. You've never had to deal with this draft before. It's nerve-wracking." Exclaimed Wally. This caught Justin by surprise. "I was the same way in the VHL draft. I thought I was going first round. I felt that I made a big impact during my time in the VHLM. When I didn't hear my name called I was distraught. I realized I had to relax and just be in the moment." Justin hoped that this would calm Wally down. He saw Wally relax his shoulders. "We are starting the 3rd round at this time. Cologne Express, you're back on the clock." Was it already the 3rd round? How was that possible? Cologne already picked their player and was moving off the stage. "Can you believe I had all these interviews and no one picked me yet? They were so excited to talk to me. I wonder what happened." Wally said defeated. "Sometimes there are bigger fish that they want to catch first. You can't let it get to you. Whoever is going to pick you is going to get a fantastic player. I bet you'll be picked as soon as possible." Justin said jokingly. "With the 14th pick the Rome Gladiators are proud to select, from the Ottawa Lynx, Wally Lose." Wally wasn't ready for the blinding spotlight to hit him as his name was called. That brief terror as a white light was beaming on him not knowing what was going on. "Get up dude! You just got called! You have to get down there." Justin pulled Wally up. Wally was shaken but understood. Slowly getting up and hugging Justin and his mom. The walk to the stage seemed like a mile away after each step. "Welcome to the VHLE and welcome to Rome!" The VHLE commissioner shook his hand. Wally accepted it and had a huge smile. Getting his jersey and draft cap. He was in his new home. The moment was here and he was going to Rome. The media scrum was fast and hard for Wally. Getting ushered and thrown in front of cameras to answer questions was nauseating for him. Hearing an Italian man trying to communicate with him he didn't understand. Luckily they had a translator on hand for this situation. "You just got drafted to Rome. Congratulations. What went through your head as soon as you heard your name called?" The translator asked. "You can tell me and I'll translate for you." With a gentle nod, "I was so surprised. I didn't expect my name to be called at all. It didn't hit me until my grandpa pulled me up and told me to go down. I'm so excited though. I can't wait to go to Rome. It's a beautiful area and the fans are so loyal." The translator told the media. The interviewer looked pleased with the answer and asked a follow-up question." "Do you have anything to say to the fans back at the arena for the draft party?" "I'm going to be giving it my all every night. I'll make sure that you won't regret taking me in the draft. The cup is coming to Rome." The rest of the day was a blur. From all the camera flashes from the media to getting pushed and pulled in all directions. It was disorienting. He finally caught up with his family at the end of the day. "So... how was it?" Justin punched his shoulder, excited to hear the experience. "Let's talk about it over dinner. I'm starving. Italian?" Everyone chuckled. Fast forward a few weeks. Wally signed his entry-level contract. With that money, he decided that getting an apartment would be good to have a place to retreat. He decided that he wasn't going to get anything crazy or expensive. Something that he can come back to and relax. Luckily, he found an apartment a few minutes from the arena for a good price. It's barebones but it'll do the job. He only had a few essentials to hold him over. As soon as he put down the last box of clothes in the bedroom his phone started to buzz—a video call from Justin. "So what do you think of your new place in Rome? I can't believe you got an apartment right by the arena. That's insane. When I was a rookie, I crashed with a teammate. I never got a place on my own." "It's incredible. I'm still learning Italian on my app. Luckily the team has a teacher who is assisting us. The apartment is a bit rundown but for the price and location, I'll take it. I don't have much but that's okay. I can't wait to start skating." Wally laughed. "You be careful and enjoy. We are headed out to lunch to celebrate." "That's funny. I'm about to head out for a team dinner. You take care. And thank you for everything." Wally smiled. This was only the start of Wally's journey and the legacy of the Lose name. After missing the cup with Ottawa, he wants to get back to the finals with Rome. 1053 word - claiming 2 weeks
  19. 1. Mexico City Kings and Philadelphia Reapers. Even going back to when I first joined the league in 2020 it was always a big thing whenever we faced Philly when I was with Mexico City. I think it's the fact that they are in the same division that spices it up. They are the two that always meet in the playoffs as well. 2. Wally will probably go back to college and finish his degree in computer science. Once he gets that, going back to school for video game development. I think he would be a great video game developer and make a surprise hit. 3. For some reason I was drawn to Pekka Rinne. He was a super cool goalie and the first NHL game I owned, I was drafted by Nashville in Be A Pro. 1. Do you think that with the hybrid attribute system, will there be a team that repeats or three-peats? 2. What league GM position do you think has the toughest job? VHLM / VHLE / VHL? 3. What is an underrated sport that you think people should pay more attention to?
  20. Wally Lose was never going to play hockey until he saw his grandpa play when he was growing up. The first year he started watching was the year that Justin Lose went to the Seattle Bears [Season 81]. From that point on, he was hooked after watching Justin light up the league in scoring. The road to the VHL wasn’t easy. Wally was a quiet and shy kid growing up. He never was interested in sports. He wasn’t excited about anything. School for him was a dreaded task. He never hung out with friends as he wasn’t included. He was a loner. He had a few friends but they would only really talk over text. His worst subject was always public speaking. It was always a daunting task. He didn’t have a favorite class to offset it though. Everything was boring to him. His teachers always saw him as an afterthought as well. Middle of the pack and nothing special. Wally didn’t have any aspirations. His parents were worried about him. They thought he was depressed or something worse. So he was put into therapy. Luckily that was enough for him to open up. He started to be more direct and get involved with things. He started volunteering at the local dog shelter as a dog walker. Luckily, the shelter was close enough to walk to. He would come home from school and go to the shelter to help the dogs and walk them. His parents were excited about this mainly because it was something to occupy him. His home life wasn’t the best and they knew it. His parents didn’t have a lot of money to begin with. Hockey was the last thing on their mind. The therapy sessions for Wally were so expensive as they didn’t have health insurance to cover it. It took 2 jobs for both the mother and father to cover it. When Wally heard that, he was devastated. He stopped going to therapy to help with the cost. He got a job at a retail store to help with bills. Wally wanted to find something to do to escape from the reality that he was in. That’s when he turned on the TV and saw Justin playing in the VHL. It was only one game, but it drew him in, and was hooked. When Justin heard that Wally was getting interested in hockey, he knew he had to help out in any way he could. He donated some of his old equipment from when he was in the juniors to Wally. Wally had to get some of the equipment adjusted, but it was free and he wasn’t arguing. He started in the juniors in high school. He was only allowed to go to games if he kept his grades up. This motivated him to keep his studies up and do well in school. Commuting to the games took a huge toll on the family, financially and mentally. This caused a great divide in the family. His home life changed, he was a burden on the family. He realized this and was heartbroken. He knew that he had to go to a college away from his family. He couldn’t afford to go to a big-league school, so he went to what was affordable to him. College was a new adventure for Wally. He never lived by himself and he was financially responsible for only himself. This was going to be a big challenge for him. On the ice, he was a different person. He was shining bright on the team. When the team figured out that he had financial issues, they all banded together to get the college to get him a full-ride scholarship. He didn’t know it was the teammates that did that. He thought the admins saw how important he was for the team. He was grateful and treated the team like family. During college, he tried to rekindle the relationship with his parents. Now that they didn’t have to worry about payments or sending money to Wally, they were open to talking again. They were proud of how he was developing. They realized that he wasn’t going to be coming home for a while which hurt them. They understood that his studies were important and that this was the correct thing to do. Wally found his stride in the college hockey program. He was scoring easily against the other colleges. He knew that he needed a bigger challenge. After his junior year of college, he dropped out and declared himself for the VHLM waivers. His teammates felt betrayed but understood. They knew that he wanted a challenge instead of staying in the college program. Justin called him when he heard the news. He talked about how this was a big step and to be ready to be humbled. Things aren’t always greener on the other side. Wally was ready for the next step though.
  21. Wally Lose - LW - USA Bio Wally Lose is a second-generation player for the VHLM. The grandchild of VHL player Justin Lose. Carrying on his legacy, Wally wants to continue his grandfather's legacy. Wally just wrapped up his 2nd season, his first full season, in the minor league. He has also represented Team USA the past 2 seasons in the WJC. He has not gotten a medal yet. He was drafted to the Rome Gladiators in the 3rd round. He will be moving up to Rome to continue his journey to the VHL where he was drafted to the Los Angeles Stars. He hopes to crack the VHL roster in 1 to 2 seasons. Quote "My time with the Lynx was amazing. It was great to go deep in the playoffs like that. The outcome was not ideal, but it's something I can take in stride and learn from. The draft day experience for the VHLE and VHL was outstanding as well. I never would have dreamed of getting drafted 20th overall by the Stars. I'm hoping that I will live up to the hype. It's also something I can brag about to my grandpa since he was drafted 26th overall in his respective draft." Stats WJC - Regular Season Team USA - Season 93 - 8 GP - 0 G - 0 A - 0 P - +1 - 7 SHT - 0 PIM - 10 HIT - 0 SB - 0 GW - 0 PPG - 0 SHG Team USA - Season 92 - 8 GP - 2 G - 0 A - 2 P - -2 - 12 SHT - 2 PIM - 13 HIT - 1 SB - 0 GW - 1 PPG - 0 SHG WJC - Playoffs Team USA - Season 93 - 1 GP - 0 G - 0 A - 0 P - +1 - 1 SHT - 0 PIM - 0 HIT - 0 SB - 0 GW - 0 PPG - 0 SHG Team USA - Season 92 - 2 GP - 0 G - 1 A - 1 P - -2 - 1 SHT - 4 PIM - 3 HIT - 0 SB - 0 GW - 1 PPG - 0 SHG VHLM - Regular Season Ottawa Lynx - Season 93 - 72 GP - 29 G - 26 A - 55 P - +35 - 222 SHT - 26 PIM - 86 HIT - 10 SB - 6 GW - 7 PPG - 0 SHG Mexico City Kings - Season 92 - 20 GP - 3 G - 7 A - 10 P - -11 - 49 SHT - 22 PIM - 25 HIT - 2 SB - 0 GW - 2 PPG - 0 SHG Pros Sniper Mentality - He is willing to forecheck hard to get the puck to the net. He was the finisher on the team with more goals than assists. A great option for the powerplay. Hitting - Although he didn’t start with a lot of hits in his first season, he learned to throw his body around. His physical game assists in creating space around him for scoring capabilities. Getting pucks on the net - 222 shots on net during the season showcases how he is trying to get a spark of offense. He should be converting more on the shots if there was anything to nitpick about. Cons Consistency - He has been very hit-and-miss on getting to practice every week. He tries to keep an open communication whenever possible. Something that he should be working on in the offseason. Speed - He was caught a lot in the VHLM due to the lack of speed. He should be placed on sprints during practice to get him to build up his stamina and speed. Shotblocking - He doesn’t get in front of the puck often. He’s been working on his physical game with hits but is neglecting to lay his body on the line for blocking shots. Final Thoughts A determined player ready to leap to the next level. He should transition well and make it to the big leagues by Season 95 or Season 96.
