  3. Say my name and I appear! I'm the new FZ manager again! @AJW did a fantastic job with the role and I'm going to try to keep this very similar. Week 1 payouts are going to be a bit delayed as I'm going on Vacation next week (woop woop). 4. 1. Not really. I'm just focused on my own player. 2. No. I don't play sports besides bowling. 3. I love nutter butters. I could down a whole bag of them. 1. Do you think there will be any surprises in the VHL draft? 2. In your draft class, where do you think your player would be re-drafted to? 3. Who are you rooting for at the olympics this year?
  5. @hedgehog337 was my first VHL GM. He was an amazing GM and was going through a rebuild when I arrived. It was a rough time there but the rants about sims were legendary. SIMON really hated my player on Riga for some reason. No matter where I was put, I'd do horrible! I still feel bad that I walked away from the team, but I think it worked out for both of us. Sucks we didn't win anything with that core.
  6. HBD. Insane to think that the VHL is probably older than some of the members in it. yikes
  7. 1. I'm going to be on the LA Stars. This will be my second player on this team. Should be a fun one! I'm hoping for a good rookie season. 2. I think they did okay. The Islanders usually either does nothing or makes a bad choice. We made a decent one this offseason. Who knows. 3. I love singleplayer games. I don't care for multiplayer anymore. 1. What arena would you want to visit for hockey? Could be real or fake. 2. If it's too hot outside, what do you like to do? 3. Any workout advice?
  8. Ruutu article that's political? I'm not surprised. I'd be surprised if you made good content for once.
  9. 1. I'm not doing well. I expected that though. I choose randomly. 2. I'd be an assistant GM because most of them don't do anything. I was a VHLM AGM and I worked my butt off, but it seems that in the VHL it's more casual. 3. Honestly I wouldn't want to lose anything, but if I were forced to choose I'd choose hearing. At least with losing the hearing, you can learn ASL and still communicate. Being blind would be a huge handicap 1. How did your player do this season? Happy with their performance? 2. Are you a console player or PC player? 3. The Steam Summer Sale is currently going on, any good deals I should check out? If you don't know or play on PC, what's your favorite game of all time?
  10. 1. Something to do with the Fantasy Zone. A best-of-the-best award for someone who got the most TPE in the FZ for all 5 weeks. 2. Lowest seeded VHL vs VHLE champs with a caveat. Only if the VHLE-capped players can spend before the game starts. 3. You get to hang out with your teammates and go through everything together. I haven't been in the other leagues, but this one has been very welcoming. 1. Will the VHL / VHLE / VHLM playoffs be predictable or will there be big upsets? 2. With the NHL season over, what do you think will happen in FA? 3. What TV series do you recommend?
  11. You only completed round 2 and 4 entries
  12. 1. I think we are a good team but I do think that a move would have been a smart thing to do. Something to shake up the core. 2. I enjoyed the one about vacations from a few seasons ago. I was able to flex my muscles and go over a topic that I love in Roller Coasters. 3. It's a cheeseburger 100%. It's a classic BBQ staple and required. 1. What is a trade that you want your NHL or any other sports team to make? 2. Do you think it's more important to draft well or have a marketable team for free agents? 3. What is on your summer playlist?
  13. Back in 2020, I was bored at home during the lockdown. That’s when I saw the ad for the VHL on an NHL 20 YouTube video. I thought to myself, screw it I’ll join. 4 years later, here I am. It’s been a wild ride. The VHLM was my first encounter with the league. Justin Lose was my first-ever player in the VHL. Philadelphia was the only team to make an offer on my creation page. I was excited but still had doubts about the league, but the GM of the Reapers was an astounding help. @DMaximus helped me with claiming and being that newbie guide. I remember being in the locker room chat on Discord and being so excited to possibly make the playoffs and how disappointed we were when we missed it by a few points. I was hooked on claiming and getting my player better each week. So when I went into the draft and got drafted 18th overall by Mexico City, I was excited! Thanks to GM and AGM of @hylands and @rory, it was a fun environment. We were a top team too! We made a deep playoff run losing in the finals to the Philadelphia Reapers. That one stung. We went from missing the playoffs with the Reapers to losing to the Reapers who won the cup. So my first two trips to the VHLM were “failures”. Missing the playoffs, and then losing in the cup finals. This time I went to the VHLM with a new perspective, becoming AGM for the Minnesota Storm with @Laine. I was able to shine by showing off my Excel skills and scouting reports. It was at this point, I fell in love with being in management and wanted to be a GM for a team in the VHLM. After the success in helping Laine with the Storm, I was hired to be the next GM of the Mexico City Kings. I was hired in Season 80. This was after a strong playoff push in Season 79 that led to them being eliminated in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Season 80 - Missed Playoffs Season 81 - Swept in the first round by Ottawa Season 82 - Lost in 7 games to Houston in the 2nd round Season 83 - Missed Playoffs Season 83 was when I started a new job at my company. This change had me going to the office 5 days a week instead of 5 days working from home. This also meant I couldn’t be on the forum, waiting for new people to sign up and create players. Plus missing the playoffs again meant I didn’t have the heart anymore. I knew I had to step down and let someone else take the mantle. Happening parallel to me being a GM was my newest player, Scoish Velociraptor Maloish. His only season in the VHLM was with the Houston Bulls in Season 82. The Houston team that eliminated my team in 7 games. But they would fall in the finals in 7 games to the Saskatoon Wild. My 2nd player would skip the VHLM draft and go straight to the VHLE. The 3rd time is the charm, right? Wrong. Wally Lose is my current player and is a VHLM loser (pun intended). I went to the Mexico City Kings to hopefully win the cup with my old team. We would fall to Miami in the 1st round. So I go into the draft again with the hope of finally winning something. I was drafted to Ottawa for the first time. This team was a dominating force, coming in as the #1 seed for the playoffs. Unfortunately, at this point, you can already tell where this is headed. We were swept in the cup finals. Overall, I enjoyed my time in the VHLM. I’ll try to earn enough to graduate early, but if I don’t reach that goal I’ll have fun with it. The VHLM is a great way to meet new people too. I’ve made a lot of great friends in the VHLM. 3 Players, 3 Teams, 3 Failed Cup wins. Am I the Corey Perry of the VHLM? Make notes VHLM GMs! If you want a cup final appearance, just draft me!
  14. Making me pick between Ottawa / Philly / Mexico City is a travesty. Hardest FZ question ever.
  15. 1. I think that wouldn't work. It would cause the people on the relegated team to go inactive or ask to be traded which will only drop them lower. Also, who would take the spot? 2. As an Islander fan, it's gotta be Okposo. He was a workhorse on the Isles and not keeping him was a big mistake. He was such an awesome guy and a huge fan favorite. 3. Baked Mac n Cheese. Bring out the lactade! 1. Do you think Seattle has enough to go Back to Back this season? 2. What do you do when you think your player isn't performing as they should? 3. Who do you think the Conn Smythe should go to?
  16. With @Mysterious_Fish stepping down, and @AJW taking over FZ there was a gap in the NHL pick'ems. I figured I'd help out since this is the Stanley Cup Finals! Gotta get that TPE. Check to see if you completed it! Form will close before Game 2 (Monday at 8 PM ET) And because I like the stats that @AJW does, here are some about the finals: 13 People (14.8%) chose Edmonton as their Cup Winner 8 People (9.1%) chose Florida as their Cup Winner The 2 highest losers were: 18.2% - Carolina Hurricanes - 16 People 15.9% - Dallas Stars - 14 People It probably will be the last time I'm doing anything with FZ. It was an honor. You are all in good hands with @AJW.
  17. When Wally first arrived in Rome, he was unsure of how he would adapt to the new environment. The jump from Ottawa to Rome was drastic. This was the first time he was outside of North America as well. The VHLE would be the start of something new for Wally. A new team, a new league, a fresh start. Being a new player on the team isn't always easy. "Coming out of training camp, I was told I would be practicing with the top line. I felt honored. I knew it would be a lot of work to stay on that line. I worked every day with my linemates to build chemistry. But it seems that it was all for nothing. I feel like I'm on a deserted island whenever I'm on the ice." 18 games into the season and the transition has not been kind to Wally Lose and the Rome Gladiators. Wally was put onto the first line after training camp and had a lot of expectations. To say he has not been meeting them is an understatement. He only has 4 goals and 2 assists in those 18 games. The chemistry that was being built in the training camp has vanished. Nothing seems to be clicking for Wally on the team. What does this mean for Wally, for the future of Rome? "I'm frustrated and disappointed in myself. 6 points in 18 games on the first line is not going to cut it. I'm going to have to take a step back and re-evaluate my standings with the team. If it means being demoted, I guess, I'll do whatever it takes for the team to start winning again. I'm going to be talking to my coaches to see where they see me fitting in better moving forward. If the extreme measure is to be traded, so be it. Something's got to give here. I'll do whatever is right for the team." Is Rome the right fit for Wally? Would a trade work out better for him? The coach / GM will have a lot of work to do to see what will work for Wally and get the team back to their winning ways. It's also still early in the season to be worrying about stats. Rome is currently in a playoff spot, but teams are catching up to them. Wally has to find his groove if he wants to make a big splash in the VHL.
  18. Game Recap: Game 48 Bratislava looks to continue their homestand with another win against the visiting Oslo Storm. Bratislava is coming in with a victory against Vasteras in a blowout 6-1. Oslo is coming in after a tough loss against the Stockholm Vikings. Both teams are looking to climb the standings with a win tonight. Every point matters in this tough schedule for these teams. Hugo Boss was a brick wall in the game against the Iron Eagles but got pulled very early in this contest after letting in 2 goals. Jack Dickins and Ivan Ivanov both scored at 3:39 and 12:05 respectively. The Bratislava coach was not satisfied with Boss' performance. The bot goalie takes his place as the starter. Steve French tries to get the crowd back in it at 14:37 to cut the deficit to 1. Leo Neelson III shuts down the crowd with their goal at 16:01 of the 1st period. Jack Dickins solidifies the quiet crowd as they score to make it 4-1. Shots were 22 to 6 in favor of the Storm. Leo Neelson III was back to ruin the home crowd's fun with a goal at 13:48 in the 2nd period. Steve French scores again at 14:44 to give some life to the Bratislava squad. The defense was too much for the Watchmen as they fell to the Storm 5-2 at home. Shots in the game were 53 - 30 in favor of the Storm. The bot goalie for the Watchmen came in and stopped 45 out of the 48 shots faced to keep the team in it. It was too much for them to handle though. Oslo and Bratislava meet again tomorrow for a rematch with the Watchmen being the hosts again.
  19. Game Recap: Game 43 Wednesday night hockey starts with an intense matchup for critical points in the standings. The Watchmen are hosting the Iron Eagles in Bratislava. Bratislava is above Vasteras in the standings by only a few points. A win tonight would give them some breathing room. The first period was a slow opener as the Iron Eagles outshot the Watchmen 14-6. It wasn't until 6:32 in the 1st period that Filip Zinek broke the ice and gave the home crowd something to cheer for. That's his 2nd goal of the season with assists from Pierre Marc Bouchard and Steve French. The second period saw the most action as an explosion of goals occurred. Vasteras tied the game up at 9:29 with a goal from Eugene Ryanheart for his 10th of the season. Not to be outdone, Bratislava fought back to take the lead and scored only a few minutes later at 13:13 by Ocean Codoller. Less than 30 seconds later Filip Zinek gets his second goal. To add to the excitement, Steven French scores at 14:52 on the powerplay and gives the home team a 4-1 lead. Things calmed down, but at 18 minutes, Aeschylus Jigglejawns CXXXVII II [good lord] scores their 7th goal of the season. Bratislava flipped the tables with the shots and dominated with a 21-7 shot difference. The third period was calmer compared to the other two. Only Andrew Skilton at 8:30 scored a goal for the Bratislava squad to make it 6-1 which would stick as the final score. The home crowd was excited as they got 2 critical points in the race for the playoffs. Ondrej Vencko was pulled after letting in the 3rd goal in the 2nd period, 4th overall. Jorgen Lovstrom was trusted in net and let in 2 more goals stopping 24 out of 26 shots. On the other side of the ice, Hugo Boss was a brick wall in the net only allowing 1 goal on 37 shots. Bratislava moves on to face Oslo at home while Vasteras returns home to face the Cologne Express.
  20. Here is a fun fact about this stretch. The finals run with Maloish was the first time any of my players made it past the first round in the playoffs. This includes my monster season with Seattle with Justin. My player basically has the Toronto curse... Thank you for the pain... (kidding I don't mind)
  21. 1. With Calgary only losing 1 game after 13 games, I have to go with Calgary. That is insane. 2. Catia Goncalves easily. They are tearing it up in the VHL already! 3. Oh this is a tough one. If I choose Google, do I get all the search results? If I decide Twitter do I get all the information from it? If I prefer Facebook, does everyone else keep posting? It's a tough call. 1. Which VHL team do you think has the best future prospects? 2. Do you think the VHLM champs could beat the bottom VHLE team? What about the VHLE champs beating the bottom VHL team? 3. What screams summer for you? (No school, amusement parks, hot days, etc)
