End of the Season With the end of the regular season just around the corner some interesting thoughts, stats and etc… came to mind. Really etc? What the heck does that mean? It means I could think of the word so I just add etc.. since it covers what I am somewhat thinking about!! You do realize that you are answering yourself? Yes!! This has been something that I have done for a long time and you know that since you are my alter-ego aka Bob!! Yeah, and I am the best side of us!! No, I think you are more like the little devil that sits on ones shoulders telling him to do bad things!! Yeah!! I mean no!! Either way we are here for a press conference and we don`t need to write so many words for this as we have two months of articles already. Well, get on with it!! 1. Regular season is ending and Vancouver Wolves have a chance to have five players reach 100pts by the end of the season. Do you think all five reach 100pts? If not who misses and by how much? 2. Conversation came up in the locker room around League Awards versus Continental Cups; Which is more important to you and why? 3. Without League Awards it is unlikely that your player makes the HoF at the end of their career; does this change your opinion about question 2? Why or why not? 4. Last season Vancouver Wolves got completely screwed over on the Play-off MVP award so with the regular season coming to a end do you think any Vancouver Wolves should win awards and which ones; if any? 5. I think I have asked this question around the halfway mark of the season but now we are near the end I will ask again; What do you think about your players overall season and did it go as expected? Why or why not? 6. Rumors about Salary cap being lowered in the next few seasons; Do you think this is the right move by the league? Why or why not? 7. Bonus: If the Salary cap is reduced, do you think Vancouver Wolves will be able to sustain a competitive roster if they need to trade two- or three-Star players? Why or why not? Hopefully I have more exciting question in the near future and I maybe a few more riddles since I have gotten away from that aspect in the past season or two but I have a ton of question which means no riddles!! I also didn`t ask about the NFL Play-offs as I was expecting too!! Such a turncoat!! Not sure how @Scurvy Ninefingers is going to feel about that!! Hopefully it doesn`t turn into a JT Miller & Pettersson situation leading us to trade one of you or both of you during the off-season!!

A few names good enough to DJ!! @Banackock@hedgehog337& @Alex Who would you listen to? After writing my trade deadline story about being quiet and turning the Vancouver Wolves GM in the second coming of Voldemort, which was never my attention when I first started writing but, in the end, at least I thought was rather entertaining. Vancouver will be an active team after this season and into the play-offs since the team will need to change but the question remains by how much but that isn`t what I am here to have you read about but rather I found myself also thinking about different Musical acts and naming conventions so where easier than other and you might see some of these in the future since I was trying to come up with a story of the Vancouver Wolves as boy band or a group. First name I was looking at was BackStreet Boys due to different songs but mainly BackStreet is Back or simply known as Everybody as song that group could sing once we show that we are going be a good team again next season or if we manage to somehow make the finals again either this season or in the future. In the end we cannot call the Vancouver Wolves the Backstreet boys so what should we call them? My thought process was trying to keep the street aspect so I went through the process of trying to name of Vancouver different streets to see if they would sound alright: RobsonStreet boys – Nah GranvilleStreet Boys – nope DavieStrret Boys – nada So then I started think like where if I was a rich single male in Vancouver where would I buy or hangout and that is when the name clicked: Yaletown Boys!! But at the same time I noticed at least one other clear cross of over to music from another team; which is straight up Dead Panda becoming a DJ and Produce on the like so DeadMau5; where the gimmick if a deadpanda on his head when doing sets!! LOL!! So who else based on either their players name or users name would have a job related to music? Comments below if you can think of any!!

It was slightly after mid-night and the lights throughout the office of the Wolves headquarters were all off all but a small flickering light coming from the door of the GM office. I walked my way slowly towards the door listening for any hint that Frank might still be in his office; as the trade deadline had just pasted a few moments before. Thinking to myself; he has to be still here as surely; he would have been working on some type of deal as frank always pulls off the a few trades like his life depends on it. I knocked on the door with a rap rap with the knuckle on the middle finger. Darn it that hurt a bit I thought and next time I will use my whole hand. I waited in silence and heard nothing so I knocked a bit loud and yes, this time using the whole hand with a solid knock knock. Expecting a who is there back but nothing!! Now I am starting to get concerned as I know we had talked about reaching out to other GM on at least three different trades; minor moves that would have improved our offense slightly if we could get agreement but I was unaware if we had managed to strike a deal or not but since the deadline had pasted and hadn`t heard anything via the team management trade wire; I had assumed we couldn`t come to agreement with the other GM. But I was sure Frank would have at least tired right up until the last moment. Trading is like oxygen for the old man so he had to be here still? I opened the door slightly to the office door and called you out;” Frank!! Are you here?” The room was black other than the flicker computer screen that was set facing the wall in front of a big window that over looked the ice below. The computer sat on a desk with a phone and notepad but both looked as if untouched; which was a bit confusing since surely with-it being trade deadline it would have been used to communicate with the other General Managers and note down thought process around possible trades. A big black chair big enough to swallow a small man sat In-front of the desk and that is when I heard it. A small whimper coming from the big black chair that had it back to the door so that I couldn`t see if anyone was seated. “Frank!! Is that you?” I asked starting to get scared as the room looked like something out of old horror movie and it was meet with another slightly louder groan!! By now I have walked the three or four strides that it takes to get from the door to the back of the chair and I nervously put my hand on the back of the chair but by now I can clearly see that something is clearly seated in the chair. I nervously ask again; “Frank!! Is that you?” Again, a slight moan comes from the chair. I slowly turn the chair using the hand that I placed on the back of it moments earlier with all the hairs standing up on the back of my neck unsure what to expect or what will be revealed once the chair fully swung around. I noticed that I am holding my breath as the chair turns completely and shows a small hooded figure slumped, rocking back and forth groaning something too low for me to hear or understand. Lord Frankemort weak from a dead awful trade deadline with no trades!! “Frank? Is that you? Are you okay?” I asked the creature that looked pale white and sickly with long white hands that matched its face!! The creature looked up giving what seemed to be a toothless smile and groaned again but much louder;” no trades!! No trades …” with the last one almost said as if crying. “Oh, You poor thing!” I stated realizing that it was actually Frank slumped and curled up in a ball seemingly in shock. I slowly lowered myself to sit with my leg resting on the arm of the chair slight taken back of what I was witnessing and slight unsure how to advance in the situation so I took the roll of a mother. “Oh, you poor things tell me all about happened?” I refused the urge to pull him into my arms like a mother would a sick or scared child. “No trades!!” Frank mumbled as he continued to rock back and forth. “I offered …..g`d deals `ut no wants uthing picks for uthing players” he stumbled getting the words out. “Asking too much or too little; but no trades, but no trades…..” with the last one said again as if the poor creature was crying again. “It’s okay Frank!! It`s going to be okay!!” I said trying to be confident and reassuring as much as I could as I was still a bit scared but I was completely nervous!! The creature of Frank looked up at me with big wide-open eyes but not really focused on me but rather looking past me as if waiting for me to say something more!! Oh, doo-doo pants what the heck does he want me to say? That is when I remembered the league is looking to changing the salary cap; if rumors are to be trusted. “Frank!” I stated as softly and motherly as I could; “If the league changes the salary cap as rumored you will need to make trades; it might be a lot of trades since we will need to get back under the salary cap!!” A slight glimmer of life came back to the creature eyes and even a slight crooked smile and he groaned like a frog,” means I ……pause ……trade ………… pause ……..captains? I trade …… captains?” As the creatures’ eyes lit up and smile could be seen across the creature face clearly now through the dark lit room as he stated happily again;” I trade Captains!!” Unlike Mona Lisa this will be a smile that you will never forget!! Nervously but happy to see life coming back to the dark hooded creature I started to lift myself from the chairs arm and started heading back towards the door making sure to always keep my eye on the creature. As I reached the door; I paused one moment; looked back at the creature still sitting but now focused on the computer; and stated,” Yes, You can trade Captains during the off season!!” The creature smiled again and turned back to his computer with a groan of “Who do I trade first? Maybe him or him, heck even him!!” It caused me a slight smile knowing that Frank would be okay as I slipped out the door back into the lit hallway and happy to have been able to help the poor creature. As I closed the door, I saw some of the players peaking around the corner of the hallway and one nervously asked,” Is Frank okay?” “Yes, Frank is okay and should be back to normal in a few days or two but the shock of not being able to make a trade really shook him” I stated flatly trying not to give away that not being able to trade anyone nearly killed the poor creature; I mean GM. “Oh, Good!!” claimed the player with a smile and adding;” So it is true we are all safe and haven`t been traded!!” As the players turned to each other and starting to give high fives. I smiled a crooked smile that I had seen the create known as Frank had just given in his office and coolly stated;” For now my dear players!! For now!! As the off season is a new opportunity for our newly wounded creature to trade you ……..” I paused and my smile grew even larger “ Do you really think you are safe??” I laughed and laughed from the belly loud enough that I think shock the building. Vancouver Wolves looks ahead to a off-season with a bit of concern of incoming Lord Frankemort Without a word the players looked at each other and shyly looked back at me; who was still laughing and scurried away like rats that had just survived the kitchen knife luck to still have the tails that were clearly now tucked between their legs. I calmed myself as my laugh turned more into a chuckle and thought of the off season and the creature that might have been released by the league. No one will be able to withstand the return of Lord Frankemort. He has been wounded, weakened and nearly left for dead during this season Dead awful trade deadline. But once he returns to full strength will there be anyone left to stand against his might? It will be truly an awful time to be a player and likely a Captain of the Vancouver Wolves as the Lord of trades will return in full strength!! And no one will be safe from his power!! ……. Muahahhaha!! And Glorious return of Lord Frankemort and the Vancouver Wolves 1502 Words Claim dates in the future (Feb 16th, 23rd, & Mar 2nd); if I remember!!

Loved the first game so I will be following the second one closely but sadly as mac user unlikely that I will be able to play. Once a Wolf always a wolf!! Love everyone that has played here in the past 10 seasons or so!!!

To be fair I traded myself as we wanted to keep the team together but when it became obvious that we couldn`t we started trading other members!! LOL!! Same will likely happen again but not for the trade mentioned!! LOL!! Vancouver would want a 1st at least and prospect!! No letter for me yet!! Plus @Frank is being a good boy so far!! Off-season might be a different story!!

1-1 isn`t that bad!! LOL!! But I guess that had to do with the loss to Chicago as that was a big game with them a point back now!!

I have thick skin and having different point of views is always a good thing!! All your points are valid but I would hate to see Toronto blow up their roster when they have a chance to actually re-tool. Yes, It isn`t going to easy to find replacements for Callahan and Machado but they do have a core that is developing their. A few teams are already in Cap situations like Moscow, Vancouver, Davos, Calgary; just off the top of my head as I think I had six teams in cap trouble. I know in Vancouver we have no choice but to move at least one 6M player this coming off season; if not more depending on announcement of cap drops. Cap drop would really make it tough for these cap teams and Vancouver btw!! My point is if Doug becomes creative he has a chance at being competitive again sooner then later... It might not be next season but he doesn`t need to go scorched earth like we did in Vancouver and regretted it. We should have re-tooled but we also go very luck that we were one of the only teams selling at the time and high elite player so we were able to more than recoup our assets back in some deep drafts. These deep drafts simply aren`t around at the moment; which is hurting teams that decide to collect draft pick volume over the value picks. I know from my prospective we will not be going scorch earth when our current core is ready to retire as we will try to re-tool via trades, draft picks and UFA this time around. But yes, I can also see that Toronto could have benefited from trying to trade Callahan and Machado by this trade deadline but I also think too many teams are already against the cap so have limited room to bring these types of the players on-board. The great thing about this league is their is no right way or wrong way to build a team per say! Also agree that Toronto if they had their first round pick would benefit from the suggested Gold Draft; is that what is it called? I think it is an interesting idea since I think we would see teams in the 14-12 overall place likely selecting near the top of the draft and since in theory they have better teams getting better higher picks could means moving them faster back to being competitive. I also looked at the current standings and all teams are still eligible for the play-offs with LA in the next day or two likely as the first eliminated so hopefully someone will continue to track this to see how it would work!!

Toronto is the best example of a team that could quickly turn around their roster and be competitive again as soon as next season. With three key players retiring they will be either huge buyers this off season and would benefit if the cap was reduced as suggested. Toronto has a strong core of players that need a bit of time to develop and need a few veteran players to start pushing for the play-offs again next season. What hurts them is the lack of draft capital but I think they should manage alright since they have a majority of the team returning and ready to take the next step while needing to find a two replacements for retiring players; as they have a prospect that should fill one of the holes. So, no I don`t agree that Toronto should have entered a rebuild as a play-off team and Vidarsson in net they might surprise a ton of teams in the NA. Also NA has about six teams that can actually win in the play-off with a bit of luck and small difference between the team builds. STHS does what STHS wants!! I wouldn`t throw away a chance at winning for a small chance at future success. This is due to the weak drafts as most GM seem to want something back rather then an inactive pick for an inactive veteran!! That means more 2nd round picks or higher for an Inactive veteran; which wasn`t the normal going price even a season or two ago!! LOL!! But it makes sense if you are the selling GM.

No, I think a re-tool would make more sense since they will have cap space to make a splash via UFA and during the off season via trades if they play their cards correctly!!

Well, I got at least traded for Dead Panda & 2nd!! And I am a STAR!! But somehow Davos traded me to Warsaw when I was LA property!! LOL!!

Can you win a Championship at the trade deadline? With trade deadline as this week’s theme and the fact that I already deleted a article that I started talking about different teams all 16 teams in the VHL should make if I was GM since I thought it could be view as tampering; so here are talking about: Can you win a Championship by making trades at the trade deadline? S96 Champions: Vancouver Wolves Vancouver Wolves by many might be viewed as team that won the championship last season due to a trade at the deadline but as AGM I can tell you that while Olober Syko did add to the roster. Him alone wasn`t the reason that Vancouver won the championship last season. Seven other moves was made last season leading to the Championship as the roster seen three key players depart but also seen three key players brought in that lead the team to the championship. Final Conclusion: No S95 Champions: Riga Reign Simply put all four trades that Riga Reign made happened during the off season so with no trade deadline deal makes this an easy one to answer. Bring Axle Gunner was the biggest move they made during the off-season and it really seemed to pay off. Final Conclusion: No S94 Champions: Moscow Menace Most of Moscow's moves were made during the off season as they completed seven trades mainly for depth options and futures; while they completed a single trade at the deadline for defensive depth in Winston Dixon jr. Not a block buster and yes while it likely helped, it wasn`t the main reason that they lifted the cup at the end of the season. Final Conclusion: No S93 Champions: Seattle Bears Seattle Bears completed nine trades on the season and compelted five major trades with two of them in the off season as they traded for Oreo McFleury and Sadie St-Louis adding much required depth to an already decent offensive group becoming known also as the Seattle Wranglers of part of the season. Fast forward to the trade deadline and two major trades with a struggling Helsinki team seen Seattle bring in all stars forward Daryl Dixon and all star goaltender Fuukka Rask. Add a future solid defender in Mina coming in via Riga Reign. While all three where not the only reason that Seattle won the Championship; all three did play a significant role. Final Conclusion: Yes S92 Champions: DC Dragons While DC Dragons did complete two trades in season neither one of them happened around the trade deadline. DC dragons brought in aging Henry Tucker Jr for much need goaltending expereicne and later would bring in depth defenseman Braeden Panarella. While likelihood that they move to bring Tucker Jr is a large reason why the won the championship that was set in motion once again during the off season and not at the trade deadline. Final Conclusion: No Final overall thoughts: I could have done this for most of the day but in the end I think I have already come to conclusion after a small sample size of four or five seasons also remembering that Vancouver that I was Agm also won in S86; where yes we made a key trade at the time at the trade deadline; I am still not sold that was the reason we won that year. We had a good team that under preformed most of the season got hot down the stretch to make a impossible run at making the play-offs in the first place before going in the magic carpet ride to win the cup. Same team the following season also dominated the league before wimping out in the first round of the playoffs as he also had the cursed cup. So what are my thoughts about winning a Championship at the deadline? Not really the case as most of the teams that actually go onto win the championship are already a good team either from off season moved made by the GM or drafting a team that can come together at the right time to win the cups. Even when you look at Seattle championship; they already had a good team but by adding three more key pieces; simply put them on top at the end of the season.
