  3. But someone will still find a way to select the options you're no supposed to and it'll just be an unnecessary problem
  4. This reminded me I used to do basically that, at least this one linked here is the most recent I could find, don't know why I stopped really (probably the fallout of using the members tag). But the thing is I had already rolled over the question pool before this last recruitment wave so it's not on them, we're actually way up on question submissions with lots of new names appearing! It's not going to be an issue to where I have to make the questions for this season at least
  5. 1. I'm only human and so are the other members who submitted questions 2. Outright terrible take People have to learn it's ok to ask for help, I see new members attempting trivia and asking for help in the discord channel all the time and they get help from myself or another member in <1 hour. Sure the spreadsheet questions are a little harder, the portal ones are probably the easiest, I've said it many times if you ask for help from me directly I will give you the source to the answer and all you have to do is find it. People complained that there wasn't enough variety or opportunities to earn tpe when trivia took a break before it was implemented on portal. So eliminating it us just a terrible idea, would love to hear any suggestions on how to "overhaul" it. This has however given me an idea however to try and improve the "findability" of spreadsheet questions so I will possibly try to act on that in the near future.
  6. I mean the answer is written right there, also highlighted depending on what mode you use the forum in "It was a tie not too long ago on 12, a number of cups I remain on with a few others, but tfong pulled away in S65 by winning his 13th." it's just slow down and read carefully, it's one of the more direct questions imo. This was also a question of my own making because we didn't have enough community given questions
  7. I like this idea, having a separate pool specific to new members, however we do not have the capability to do so with the current system. Would be a Josh or Will thing but that’s just another thing to add to the long list of improvements they’re working on. My only concern with it is still the answer sharing because if we had just a specific pool running 24/7/365 for new member lbs it would be very easy to compile a database over time. I would honestly like BOG to discuss it because it’s just me myself and I making a large amount of the decisions for trivia and some more thought out input on where we draw the line of is answering sharing less important than retention to therefore justify answer sharing for new memebers? not a plug to put me on bog but more input would be helpful if we did decide to more forward on this
  8. Currently Trivia cannot support yes or no questions
  9. Willing to trade off trivia for this position

I used to give up the Internet for anything that wasn't necessary. Today I have no idea how I pulled that off.

  11. @VHLE GM Index Here is your index for the playoffs, we will be starting these tomorrow so please get your lines and such ready in the meantime. The schedule will be the same as always, 1 game per day. Live sims will remain in the same location: https://www.twitch.tv/n0hbdyxd Best of luck to all the teams that made it!
  12. Salt Lake has been gaining a lot of hype, not a very uneducated choice, nice job staying on top of realistic location choices.
  13. Works best for my schedule to stay consistent for sim timing
  14. Big money big money, welcome back!
  15. Well well well it's theme week! All-Stars is an interesting choice, certainly not as invigorating as recruitment last season, wow what a storm that was. Funny how little critics out there actually applied for the job. ANYWAYS! I don't have much for the all-star topic, this is just the 5th article of 5 that I need for my uncapped package so you might not hear from me for a bit after this. I believe they used to do All-Star games, mainly through spreadsheets and such to test for fastest shot, skater, and other things like that. But it wasn't an official league endorsed activity so it did fade out. I think that in the next coming seasons you could realistically see a majority greenland lineup for an all-star team. Both Leif and Thor are getting better day by day. The Greenland nation could always use some more recruits so if you plan to recreate at tdl and just so happen to be reading this, create as a greenland native and join our nations great movement. I think an All-Star event could realistically be done. You could do it through portal vote, though it would take some coding for the single developer Josh. So essentially my idea is, VSN nominates the candidates, they can then just put them into the portal under a new voting section for all star games. User's could then go through that list, check 12 boxes for forwards, 8 for D, and 4 for goalies. And then receive 1 tpe for just voting! I don't think 1 tpe would be that harmful to the VHL ecosystem and it also slightly incentives all-star voting. Then for the simulating you'd create a section under the VHL forum spot for their stuff, similar to how WJHC is under vhlm. You can add an additional games poster for the all-star games, and have the backup simmer go through the process of running the event. If you partitioned 2 days of the season just for all-star events it would give the regular simmers a slight break, but also put the backup simmer into work in the middle of the season where currently he just sits idle until requested or until the offseason starts. It's crazy I thought of all this as I wrote it but that's my idea for if we wanted to bring back the All-Star games. Also for lines I don't think it'd be terribly hard to find 2 willing gm's out of 16, or from the other leagues to put them together. Bye!
  16. congrats on the extension @Kisslingerwe're very happy to have you stay
  17. This season's rookie race seems to be a much larger one than seasons past. More talented rookies have seemingly come up to the league and made a very large impact right away. Currently Thor stand 4th in rookies points and ranked 5th from the talent of all the rookies including goalies. Although Thor hasn't seen the outstanding results he expected the numbers he's putting up as a rookie are still respectable. But if you think past this season for Thor, there is a whole lot of potential for the player he is the become something great. Sitting just under 700 tpe after his rookie season Thor's impact on Warsaw could grow greatly after this season. The players growing alongside Thor will also get better and better, it may take time for each player to step into their prime but everyone is different and there's no telling when that might be. From the team's standpoint now however they have to make a decision soon for the plan on the rest of the season, they currently sit 5 points outside a playoffs spot, which is not impossible, but certainly a fight. At what point might the team cut their losses and sell some assets to one of the many team's looking for further their roster's depths or express your diamond hands and hold until the end and hope that once the season games played count hits 72 that you're better than 3 other teams in your conference and clinch at least a wild card spot.
  18. Thor Reingaard, a highly touted prospect heading into his draft season. It was a close debate on who the top pick would be, Thor certainly had a running for it. But when the first name was called, it was not him. However Thor would be the next up on the draft board going 2nd overall to the Moscow Menace. Then right after at 3rd overall again with Moscow, they would take his brother Leif to pair with him on their new found adventure to Russia. The Menace weren't in dire need of the Reingaards that season and so they allowed them to go back one more season to the VHLE where Thor would again play for the Vasteras Iron Eagles, where he had played the season before. Thor found much more success in the league this time around putting up respectable numbers and helping with a playoff run that would finish in an unsuccessful finals series. Then the offseason came, Thor and his brother Leif destined to make their rookie debut together, all that was left before then was the draft. A couple days before the draft however, Thor would get some news. He had been traded from the Moscow Menace and away from his brother, to the Warsaw Predators. Thor was no stranger to the Predators, last draft season Warsaw held the 2nd overall pick and had talked to Thor just before they ended up trading the pick away. A shocking move to Thor who now had to say goodbye to his family and no longer see him as a teammate, but an enemy. Nevertheless Thor's goals for the season were simple, try to be the best of the incoming rookies. Being one of the highest rated forwards of the incoming class he would get some attention from VSN in a rookie race article where he was to his surprise rated 8th of the incoming group. But now the offseason had finished and it was time for his rookie debut versus the London United. In the Orange and Blue Thor made his debut and made an impact, in the 2nd period Thor would score his first goal in the VHL that would help in the eventual overtime victory. Since then Thor has still performed strongly for a rookie, not in the lead for the rookie race, but it's not over until it's over. Lines constantly shifting and new strategies are always being tested on a scrappy Predators team.

    AI

It should be no surprise that with the new feature of technology, AI, becoming more powerful than before people are now trying to incorporate it into their everyday lives and cut corners. From someone fulls time job, to school work, and now to VHL articles. Most of the recent bans have been because people have violated the COC by using AI to write almost their entire media spot. I get to see a little bit more than the average user behind the scenes on the situation, and props to our PT head and updaters for being mostly on top of it. I understand why someone would want to use AI to write their articles, but then what's the point really, you don't get the feeling of pride and curiosity after publishing your article or podcast and seeing what people might respond with. I think that's a large part of the VHL experience, especially now that the role playing has died down. Sure I've got job pay every week, but when I don't I fall back onto podcasting, it's the most for sure time taking task for the week, 15 minutes. Every time I record one it's just spitballing my current thoughts on various topics which is fun and has saved me from falling asleep while driving to many times. I genuinely think podcast's are underrated now, and want to listen to more. I love that the forum also has a spotify link to a playlist of podcast (though it hasn't been updated since like 2022, plz bring it back)
  20. So the season has begun, and to the notice of many Warsaw has not started off well. Dealing with the slander and criticism each day is tough but I won’t let some of you assholes win and bully myself out of the position, I’ll tank for 20 more seasons if it means I don’t let them win. I understand now why Cow in the most recent case, stepped down from his position in New York. It is so much easier to throw this criticism and meme on the decisions of a GM than it is to receive them. I feel I definitely played a part in destroying his mental state as a GM by joining in on the meme and joking about his time as a GM. But this is just my thoughts so far into the season, I will refuse to give up until at least TDL, if you were in my locker room you would know how much effort I’m putting in to try and make this a competitive team. Anyways I’ll get into what I wanted to write this article about, kind of justifying my decisions (some bad yes) but also how Warsaw semi got screwed over in our rebuild process on part of myself and other factors. I took over Warsaw a few seasons ago, was handed a playoff caliber team with many notable players, made the playoffs twice but lost the 1st round each time. After that I blew up the team to try and get picks. S87’s draft was the last remnants of what previous GM Dlamb had set up. 2 1st round picks and 2 2nds for a draft that would go 4 rounds. From that I selected Hannibal Barca (206tpe), Tim Riggins(182tpe), Mac Dre (128tpe), and Tyler Swift(161tpe). Not terrible picks for the time, though the callup minimum then from the VHLE was 350 so a little ways to go. Now forgive me my memory isn’t entirely clear but in the S88/89 drafts Warsaw didn’t really have many early round picks, I believe I was trying to still fight for the team to stay competitive with the roster I came into. If you’d like to know that story line and are more interested in digging it up then me, please go for it. Season 90 now, Warsaw headed into the draft with 2 1sts, 2 2nds, and 2 3rds. Sure the 2nds were relatively late but not a terrible draft stock to have in the history of VHL drafts. From that we drafted Maxim Anisimov (311tpe), King Kisslinger (261tpe),Jorji Costova(176tpe), Joseph Jec(226tpe), Aeschylus Jigglejawns CXXXVII II(128tpe), Joseph Dubois (180tpe), and a couple other players but I’m not looking to go past the 3rd right now. The draft would go 4 rounds, we’d snag a few hopefully franchise players that would spend some development time in the E so that we could go for another high pick the next season. S91 was a very good draft to have 1st round picks in if you wanted a high earning player, I could’ve drafted myself, however I felt Warsaw was lacking future depth to back up the cornerstone pieces we drafted the season before. Therefore I traded away 2oa to go back to 13oa and pick up 2 2nds. In terms of picks that draft Warsaw had 1 1st, 4 2nds, and a high 3rd. From that we would draft Spanish Moth (292tpe), Behrens Minion(214tpe), Jacob Smith Jr (155tpe), Dietrich Reingaard (131tpe), Pipo Popa (195tpe), and Anasari Reingaard (121tpe) in a draft that would only go 3 rounds. This in this most recent draft Warsaw traded away 2oa for my own player (2oa the season before lol) and had 3 2nds in total for a draft that would literally only go 2 rounds (not even). If you haven’t caught on the what I’m trying to get at don’t worry here it is. In the time Warsaw went into a rebuild the quality of draft classes/picks decreased so much. In total over the season’s covered if I did my math right Warsaw had 5 1sts, 11 2nds, and some other amount of 3rds (didn’t calculate since i didn’t include it in every season covered). In past seasons that kind of draft capitol would be pretty impressive. But on my own part and to the shrinking classes most of the picks just didn’t pan out. So now this leads me to the future picks. I wanted a short sort of buy while future big player such as myself, anisimov, and the king finished getting up to that sort of top player tpe range. I brought it Wallob, Champagne, Rex, Maple, some players that if I can figure out how to put together, might get the job done and make the season a little bit more fun. After this past draft having only 2 rounds I was less than enthusiastic for seasons to come, especially with the state of recruitment. Yes I knew there was a recruitment drive coming well in advance to where I didn’t have to make these decisions to sell my picks, but having been on the wrong side of quite a few failed ads the prospect of “oh this ad is coming out and is going to be different than the last few” didn’t excite me. So essentially I bet on the ad panning out to around the same amount of recruitment as the past few. That bet has obviously not played out and you could say I’ve lost. I still have hope in my team, like I said I will not give up. Many people have asked me if because of these moves I will be stepping down after the season, I will absolutely not. Like I said earlier fuck all of you that criticize me and meme on my team, I’m not going anywhere and will tank until S200 if I have to. Members of this league can be such assholes to the GM’s. Yes I’ve made bad moves, but in my opinion it’s just the perfect shit storm of poor recruitment and my own decisions. I have no one other than myself to blame for the state of the team, nor would I try to pawn it off on anyone else. But to the members that are constantly, daily, after each sim, and each move, in every thread, criticizing me, fuck off. You’re destroying the morale of a highly productive member of this league and despite wanting more members, try to destroy the loyal ones. That’s all.
