Luc Tessier Declares for the VHL Entry Draft

    Team Success

Luc Tessier is a team first player so it makes sense to talk first about how the San Diego Marlins did in S77. Coming into the season, expectations were rather low. Let’s be fair, it was a rebuild year after the team had been decimated with a win it all now approach in the years leading up to S76, but in S76 the Marlins had performed badly enough to earn the top overall pick and had finagled their way into a second 1st rounder. The team was to have promise, but not expected to shake the league up.

And yet they did! Under the leadership of the GMs @thadthrasher and @Eldredman, Captain Nessy Monster @LuluSalesAway, and Tessier’s fellow Assistant Captain, Nicholas Mariani @Mistxh Jthe Marlins posted a 37-28-7 records and racked up 81 points. To put that in perspective, they were expected to be doing well to stay out of the basement of the VHLM, but instead roared to a 2nd place finish in the Western Conference and 6th overall in the entire league.

    Tessier Lights Up the League

Though certainly not on his own in this regard, Tessier was one of the main reasons for this team success. His teammate, Nicholas Mariani, captured the overall best rookie honors with 92 points, but Tessier was not far behind – coming in 5th overall among rookies with 78 points.

Tessier lit the lamp 37 times – just one goal behind Mariani. His 41 assists made up the rest of his scoring. His 15.88% shooting accuracy trailed only Hendrix Cobberson @Hendrix Cobberson for team best, while he won 56.33% of all the faceoffs he took – tops among all San Diego centers.

Tessier is particularly proud of his 2 short-handed goals as that shows a) that he was trusted on the penalty kill, and b) that he could out-hustle the other team even when the Marlins were out-manned. He is also proud of his +14 +/- rating showing that he isn’t just a glory hound looking to light the lamp at the expense of taking care of his defensive duties.

    Looking Forward to the Draft

Unless Tessier is drafted by a very young and rebuilding VHL team, he will likely return to the Marlins for one final season, but the draft is still an exciting time as one learns ones eventual starting spot in the VHL.

Tessier has just as sterling an attitude as he has an on-ice résumé. He is open to going pretty much anywhere all the way from a struggling team on the rise where he might be called to “play up” and leave the Marlins after just one year to a dominant team just off a Cup win where he might have to spend a little more time earning his way to his eventual goal of being a top line VHL centerman.

Though Tessier is looking forward to the VHL Entry Draft, the first order of business is going deep in the S77 VHLM playoffs. Go Marlins!

    Hey Dad,

I know we haven't spoken in awhile, with school getting hectic and the VHLM season coming to its end, I haven't even had time to breathe. Don't worry though I haven't forgotten about you or mom (BTW say hi to her for me), so I am mainly writing to you guys to fill you in on everything that's been going on. For starters, school went great, I passed all my exams with flying colors! Was so worth it through all the pain it gave me 😅.  Aside from that, I worked really hard in the second half of the season and I actually led all rookies in points over the season!!! It was unbelievable, I wanted it from the start, but fell behind by more than 10 points with one week left in the season; thankfully I found my 'game' in that last week, kind of ironic how at the end is when I felt most comfortable but I will take it. I had 92 points in 72 games and got 38 goals, almost hit 40!! Unfortunately I'm not yet the prolific scorer you were dad, but I will get there 😉. To top it all off WE MADE THE PLAYOFFS!!! Anyways that is pretty much everything in a nutshell, I'll call once playoffs are over so I can plan a visit and tell you EVERYTHING, hope I made you guys proud.

    Love you,

    Nicholas

Eldredman reacted to thadthrasher in S77 San Diego Marlins Regular Season Awards
At the conclusion of my second season as the General Manager of the San Diego Marlins I have to say that I am incredibly pleased with just how well we as a team performed. We ended S76 with a less than pleasing record (a sickly 11-58-3). However, that didn’t stop us from looking ahead. Due to an amazing draft class, careful and precise planning, help from a few mentors, and a hardworking team, we’ve come out of this season better than expected. Most saw us finishing much lower than we did, but being the 6th best team in the league is an amazing feat for such a young and eager team! To the naysayers we had at the beginning and even middle of the season, we’ll see you in the playoffs!

Marlins, after careful deliberation between @Eldredman and myself, we’ve seen fit to award the following individuals with their respective awards. If you did not receive an award it was not because you were lacking or unimportant to the team in anyway. We just only have so many awards to give out! This team COULD NOT have been any bit as successful as it has been had it not been for all of you, award winner or not! Now, the moment everyone has been waiting for…

    AWARDS
    Goals Leader
This first award, and the next few that follow, are pretty easy to pick. We just let the numbers do the talking! It’s always exciting to see your player do well, especially when they bring in the goals. This season, our goals leader was Nicholas Mariani @Mistxh J J. Mariani had great streaks, and a few dry spells, but he never gave up, even when it was looking dim. Because of that attitude and the hard work displayed, Mariani was able to bring in 38 goals on the season.

    Assists Leader
Assists were certainly a huge part in what made San Diego successful this season. Assists really play an important part in any team’s success. The movement of the puck, the perfect timing, and the ability to have a great hockey IQ all lead to successful playmaking, which leads to victory. This season, we had impressive assist numbers, but no one was more impressive than our captain, the S77 1st Overall pick, The Loch Ness Monster @LuluSalesAway. Nessy, as she has made clear she likes to be called, was a rockstar both offensively and defensively. With her 67 assists on the season, she made a HUGE impact.

    Points Leader
It was no surprise to us to see who was the points leader here in San Diego. Nicholas Mariani @Mistxh J dominated in points this season, bringing in 92! He was successful in not only putting the puck in the net, but making sure to pass when necessary to ensure a goal would go up on the board. All of this came together and made Mariani not only a great asset to San Dieog, but the leading rookie in the entire league.

    PIM Leader
No team walks away successful without having their resident “bad boy” on the team. Every team needs that player who is not afraid to get a little rough, stand up for others, and strike a little fear into the hearts and minds of the opposing player. It was clear that Aldwin Craig @Eldredman was that person. Racking up 166 minutes in penalties this season, Craig spent just over 8 WHOLE PERIODS either in the box or ejected from the game. Let’s just hope he gets his temper under control a bit!

    Shots Blocked Leader
Any goalie knows to appreciate a player who is willing to step in front of a heater, take the shot, shake it off, and move to the offensive zone. This season we saw The Loch Ness Monster @LuluSalesAway blocked an AMAZING 94 shots this season. It was clear that Nessy was unafraid of laying her body on the line for the victory. Thanks for taking all those bruises!

    Hits Leader
This player had a disgusting 310 hits this season. That’s a lot of impact, and a lot of effect on the game. Coming in at second for hits for the entire league this season, Aldwin Craig @Eldredman certainly put his body on the line for our team. He stood up for his fellow teammates and made sure that any opposing team knew that when they played us they would be in for a rough ride!

    Sharpshooter Award
It’s not often that shooting percentage is highlighted, but we knew that this was an important one to show off. Having a high shooting percentage means that a player knows their shot well and they are, as Hamilton says, “Not throwing away my shot.” While 16.06% isn’t going to shake the foundation of the league, it was incredibly helpful here in San Diego. Well done Hendrix Cobberson @Hendrix Cobberson for placing your shots carefully!

    Best Luck Award
Now, you may be reading this award title and wondering, “what in the world is that supposed to be for?” Well, wonder no more! Much like shooting percentage, many don’t consider plus/minus to really mean much. However, it means a lot! It shows that when the player is on the ice, pucks go in the net. Now, we aren’t sure if this was because of good line chemistry or because of having really good luck, but Lochlan Chisholm @Lochlan Chisholm had a great plus/minus of +25! It seems that Chisholm may be our lucky charm!

    Most Influential
This award is given to the member who was active in the locker room and/or the forum. They continuously encouraged, pushed, and helped their teammates. Overall, this player added to the atmosphere of the team and brought a positive attitude into the locker room. Yo, @Mistxh J, congratulations on being the most influential. It’s time to try being a Social Media influencer and promoting the VHL to your millions of fans!

    Most Improved
This award is given to the member who not only grew their player’s overall TPE throughout the season, but they proved to increase in activity, influence, and responsibility around the league. Luc Tessier had an impressive season of growing in TPE. After taking the AGM spot in Moscow, @KC15's activity waned a bit here in San Diego, but that was completely understandable. Taking on more responsibility in the league is important, and it showed that KC15 was worthy of being the Most Improved Marlin!

    Welfare Warrior
Being a welfare player doesn’t usually get anyone enough credit. While it isn’t the hardest thing to do, being a welfare player who is consistent gives some comfort to management. They know that the player will be there, earning TPE, and building up. Plus, they’ll have them for a bit of time! Our Welfare Warrior this season goes to our Best Luck Award Winner, @Lochlan Chisholm!

    Great Wall Award
This an award that we give to our goaltender. This could be either the backup or the starter goaltender who showed grit and determination in the net. While we gained a backup goaltender near the end of the season, Anime Protagonist @Jericho started in net for us every single game. The pressures that a goalie faces every game cannot be fully understand by non-goalie players, as every win can be credited to someone else, and every loss seems to be blamed on the goalie by someone. Protagonist, we thank you for your commitment to our team, and for being the Great Wall we’ve needed in net!

    Most Creative
This award is given to the player who submitted either the most creative point task for the season, or they made consistently creative point tasks throughout. While many of our players displayed great creative skills, only one of them stood out amongst the rest. With creative storylines and a vivid imagination, Milk Jugs @NerdyCowzis our winner! Keep up the great work!

    Team MVP
This award is being given to the player and VHL member who showed not only impressive numbers on the ice, but stayed consistently active. They showed up in the locker room and around the VHL/VHLM as a whole. This player shows a promising future in the league and adds to any locker room/Discord server they are a part of. Congratulations to @Mistxh J and keep it up!

    The Eldredman Award
This award was not discussed with @Eldredmanbefore writing this. This will be the award that I give to my AGM at the end of each season. The reason for its name, and the reason why Eldredman is winning it, is not only because he was my AGM, but he came at a time when I really needed it. During a string of AGM changes, Eldredman continuously offered support and to help. This eventually led to him being offered the official AGM position, and he has not disappointed. He’s consistently active, encouraging our team, trying to find new ways to get them involved (Such as the Podcast to help members earn more TPE), and dedicated to San Diego’s victory. Congratulations Eldredman, keep up the good work!

This concludes our awards ceremony. Thank you, again, to each and everyone of our S77 Marlins. You were all amazing, and I look forward to working hard with you as we dive into playoff hockey. Best of luck!

    Jugs Multi From Different Planet

What if and i mean what if Milk Jugs the VHLM rising star defencemen had a Multi that came from space? Well for those who are wondering this, like the millions of fans that or just die hard's of the VHLM you are in for a treat! Yes! This story will not only be published and be a main storyline throughout the sports world no! It's going to something that people worldwide will be following! Why? Because this story is something that has never been seen or heard of before and too this day scientist are still trying to figure this out! This Milk Jugs Multi has been found from a strange call to the general manger of San Diego Marlins hockey team of the VHLM. The general manger Thad ( @thadthrasher)  has now been advised this strange activity as a result Thad had too call up his lovely wife the one and only @LuluSalesAway to tell her he loves her. This had Thad scared and scrambling. Thad might be the general manger of San Diego Marlins but he's also the Regional manger of a paper company that proudly sponsors the VHLM as well as the Marlins, the Dunder Mifflin of San Diego has always been supportive of the league! Anyways sorry for the paid ad! back to the story!

After the call of when Thad called his wife to say he loves her in case something were to happen. Thad ended up calling his assistant general manger @Eldredman  too say lock down the team and protect the rising star Milk Jugs! As for safety reasons Thad can be a little extreme however who could really blame him right? i mean if you got a call saying that somebody your close with has a multi from a different planet I'm sure you'd want to take the actions needed to protect them..... or at least i hope however if this happened to me about @Prout well lets say i wouldn't say nothing and well that famous saying

Now Thad had to really make some of his toughest decisions due to this. So what does this great leader do? Well I will tell you! He sets up a phone meeting with Milk Jugs and the team in a private room that's in a location that nobody knows about. Thad basically had to kidnap all his players to drive them in a bus that he made himself so the government wouldn't track him.  This meeting he set up was not like any. This had feared the whole team and what was next and what the possible outcomes could be. Now the phone rings as the team is gathered around a long rectangular table as Thad answers as the head of this team.

    Thad

    " Hello."

    Multi Milk Jugs

"i know where you are and who your with. you cannot hide from me. I will show up and show why i am the better Milk Jugs."

    Thad

" you will not find us. whoever you are I've been to prison and I've seen some things. this will not stand."

    Phone hangs up

What's next? Well to be safe the team had decided to stay in Thads little dungeon that he created while feeding them slim Jims and mayo for desert as its suppose to be ice cream with some imagination. As there was some buzzing from the phone Thad would not tell anyone what was about to happen as he still thought this was some type of terrorist attack so he got a new phone privately delivered by the VHLMs sponsor for phones. Thad thought this was a terrorist that showed up! it was just the IT guy delivering as chuck was not available at this time.

The Arrival! YES! that's right the multi has shown up. This Multi of Milk Jugs looks exactly the same but! The multi has one eye and is not small but rather much bigger and by that a 7'2 425 lbs. monster. The team here in San Diego looks not so feared as this multi approaches the real Milk Jugs. As they get talking the multi has made a request and a proposal too Thad. Thad looks nervous on what's going to be asked as he loves his rising star player in Milk Jugs who's bloomed into a top three defence for the team this season. The offer that was proposed was to recruit Milk Jugs to the  Space Force Hockey League for the Saturn Stars. The Saturn Stars are in need for Milk Jugs to help win in there final game seven winner takes all. Milks Jugs multi wants Milk Jugs to be on the top pair to play along side him as the pairing would be the Jugs line. Why only Milk Jugs? Well after Milk Jugs was born there was this doctor named Creed. Creed was not like any doctor you would think of. This doctor looked at baby's and health. Well Creed started building multis for space and too travel other planets he set this up knowing Milk Jugs was going to be a rising star in hockey.

Milk Jugs was scared for that question and what happened in the past. Nobody even knew the history behind Creed as Milk Jugs try's to forget the past and blanks it out of his mind so he can only focus on hockey the only thin he's good at. Milk Jugs went into a private meeting with Thad as they spoke what was best for the team and the safety. The big final decision was made as Milk Jugs decided to dos something nobody expected.... Not even Thad.

JUGS WALKED OUT AND KAPOW! SUCKERED THE MULTI

This had the team all shocked including Thad! what just happened?!

Milk Jugs did not hold back! why?

Milk Jugs has been waiting for this moment his whole life as he tried to block this piece of history from his mind. Milk Jugs had been wanting one more thing. Dr Creed. Creed was not here however it seems like Milk Jugs has a plan...

    YELLS GM THAD!

Thad now has called Creed and guess who shows up.

This is the moment Milk Jugs has been waiting for. The Multi and now Dr Creed in the same room with Jugs having red in his eyes. The time has come Jugs has both of them in the same room with just the three of them. Milk Jugs advised the team to leave because they won't want to see what happens next. Jugs grabs his hockey stick wrapped in barbed wire. Jugs had walked out with just the stick covered in blood with that crazy laugh and smile looking stress free. Nobody will ever know what all events happened in there as he advised " I took care of business" . The team now had to get back to work and get ready for game day as they've now missed a couple practice's due to these events.

After Jugs takes care of business the team hits the ice for game day practice quickly. The team was in much need for this and to get there legs going after the Multi appeared. Milk Jugs seemed to be in a much better place mentally and has been happier already. Maybe this was the final step to his road to glory. The Marlins did however loose that night to the Yukon Rush in game number 321  5-4 game in SO. This was a well fought battle by the San Diego Marlins and have proved there all with Jugs and will be much better now with this rising star happy and more focused after taking care of his dark shady path. Jugs will now look to be more motivated and focused as he's now only thinking about the game he loves. We will have to see what's next for this team as the season is yet to be completed and will have to continue to fight hard like fellow teammate Jugs did.

Question of the day is, Would the San Diego Marlins of won tonight if they didn't have a late practice and didn't have all those events happen? I would think that these events that transpired would have something to do with the outcome.

Milk Jugs will now be at rest knowing he dealt with both Creed and the Multi that he despised. i mean nobody will ever know what all Creed did for his experiments and all the reasons Jugs tried to hide this path. however it seems to only get Milk Jugs more ready to become a better hockey player and person being at ease. This moment will be something to remember for the rest of his career. Maybe this is what the San Diego Marlins team needed? More team bonding? Thad ha stated that he supports what Jugs did and expects big things from his rising star defender that he cares so much about. This story is something no member in the VHLM or VHL should take lightly as Milk Jugs may not be the biggest but you  will need to think of this the next time you touch his goalie or stand in front of the net while he defends.

Bjorn Ceaf, son of the legendary Rhost Ceaf, was born prematurely. Do to being born early, he was just a little guy most of his life. Size never seemed to be much of a hindrance for him though. Once he graduated from high school, he had a growth spurt. Reaching the heights of 6' 3" seemingly overnight.

Jump forward a few years and WAM!! Bjorn is a Center for the San Diego Marlins. So far this season he only has 1 goal and 6 assists but as the season goes on, that is expected to change. He has been working hard during practices this season to improve his skills. If he keeps this up, we will likely see him move onto the 3rd line by before the end of this season.

What are Bjorn Ceaf's thoughts on how his Career's debut season is going so far? How does Rhost Ceaf feel about his son following in his footsteps? What does the future hold for this young man? Eldredman reacted to KC15 in Guy Lesieur Goes to Riga - Never a Dragon!
    Guy Lesieur Bio

Guy Lesieur, right winger from just outside Paris, France, burst on to the VHL scene in S68 being drafted by the Mexico City Kings of the VHLM. He spent a partial season there before being traded to the Las Vegas Aces as they made a playoff run. Those playoff hopes were dashed short of the Cup, but the young phenom put up some impressive numbers for his rookie season: 31 G, 29 A, +5, and 3 GWG.

    Draft Hopes Rise

As VHL draft loomed on the horizon, Guy wanted nothing more than to be drafted by the recent expansion team, the D.C. Dragons. He liked the build of the young team and it’s chances for future success under the brilliant GM duo of @Enorama and @McWolf He also appreciated the thought of coming up immediately from the VHLM to make an immediate impact on a young team where his greenness would not be too out of place.

    Draft Hopes Dashed

Guy lobbied the DC management hard and things looked promising, but you don’t know until the day of the draft, do you? Sure enough. At 6th overall, just one slot before DC would have almost certainly selected him, Guy’s name was called - by the Riga Reign. Guy was not going to D.C. Guy’s heart sank. He began to sink into an immediate funk.

    The Phoenix Rises

But then, a miracle. He received a call from DC management. A draft day deal had been made. Immediately upon seeing Lesieur fall to the Reign, DC top brass worked the phones with Riga and struck a deal that would send Lesieur to DC. But the cost was steep. The pressure was on.

    The Rest of the Story

Guy lived up to the pressure of that draft day trade. He played all but 32 games of his career with the Dragons, having been briefly rented out to the expansion London United in S73. When he finally hung up his skates in DC after the S76 season, Guy had scored 273 goals, notched 267 assists, netted 75 power play goals and lit the lamp with 54 game winning goals. Guy scored more than 40 goals in each of his final three seasons.

    But What If?

But what if DC had not made the commitment and traded for him on that fateful day? What if the desire in DC had been there, but Riga wanted to hold on to recently acquired asset.

    Descent and Doom

Guy looked on in shock as the announcers proclaimed, “And with the 6th pick of the S69 VHL Draft, the Riga Reign select RW Guy Lesieur”. Sixth pick – that was impressive and something Lesieur should be thankful for. But it wasn’t DC and something in him just broke that day. It was completely irrational. The Reign was a fine organization. He was a first rounder with a bright future. But he couldn’t see it that way. His fixation on DC was more than a huge preference. It truly was an obsession.

Guy packed his bags and reported in Riga, but despite the warm welcome his heart was not in it. This translated quickly onto the ice and his play suffered mightily. It seemed that Guy had lost the ability to come within 2 feet of the net with his shots as they splattered all around the end boards. Coaching came immediately to his aid, but to no avail. He could not snap out of it.

His precipitous fall in performance baffled him and depressed him. He began to drink. Heavily. This, of course, led nowhere but to worse play on the ice. Coaches continued to work with him, but could not reach him. Guy became surly and completely unresponsive.

He eventually had to be sent back to the VHLM for an attitude correction and to tune his play. Again, no joy. This only made Lesieur more angry and bitter. He was finally released as a complete draft bust and a locker room cancer.

Guy never made it back into hockey though he did try to hook on with some semi-pro teams for a while. Now he is an assistant manager at a Walgreen’s drugstore.

    Conclusion

Thank you to eno and mcwolf for saving Lesieur from this fate. And Riga, look at what a bullet you dodged. BTW, Centerman Luc Tessier has no such aversion to playing in Riga. lol @hedgehog337

Yo, sorry to hear about the struggles you are having in Houston. It seems you are having a problem with a quiet locker room (which you call toxic), quiet leadership (RJ and Hex), and you've made it known that you want trade. Now, I'm not sure how conversations went between you and the management, but I would certainly hope that you have talked to RJ and Hex before going onto the forum with this sort of piece. I'm sure between the countless hours that RJ and Hex have been putting into this league they would have certainly heard your complaints and chatted with you about it. Certainly, at the very least, I would hope that you made them aware of this article before dragging their names through the mud.

Welcome back to another addition of the VHLM Power Rankings! We are nearing the halfway point of the season and one thing has become certain this season, and that is nothing is certain. Aside from one team, 11 of our 12 teams are at least in playoff contention in some way or another. A couple teams have certainly pulled ahead overall, but it's been a pretty interesting season and there's potential for a decent amount of movement both in the standings, and in the Power Rankings. Because of this, I expect there could be a very interesting trade market leading up to the trade deadline this year, as many teams may feel like they have a shot at contending for the Founder's Cup. This makes for an exciting finish down the stretch of the regular season, so buckle in, it's going to be a wild second half!

Led by the expert leadership of Assistant General Manager @tcookie, Mississauga has exceeded all expectations this season, and vaulted themselves solely into the top position of the Power Rankings. Having already found themselves in a good spot heading into the start of the season, the Hounds opted to make additions to their squad to solidify themselves as one of the major threats going into this year's playoffs. The Hounds welcomed in longtime Yukon Rush forwards @jpach Johnny Pacheco and @Pythonic Gaspar Yakrevsky to give themselves even more firepower up front.  While these moves undoubtedly strengthen their team, it also means they are all in for this season seeing as how they shipped off alot of future assets to accommodate these trades.  Pacheco and Yakrevsky join their old Rush teammate @Spartakiller2 Guy Lambert, who is having quite a year for himself thus far. Through 28 games Lambert has 10 goals and 35 assists. The Hounds are solid from top to bottom and have a balanced attack. The defense has been great, and goaltender @Lspinelli Luke Spinelli is having a career year with a 23-2-0 record with a 1.99 goals against average and a .910 save percentage. If Spinelli continues to play like this, it would be hard to imagine many teams contending with the Hounds this season. Again, with the timely trades and the solid draft, I commend tcookie for doing a great job with his squad this season, way to go Trevor!

Coming in at two is none other than the Sasky Bois! The Wild have come flying out of the gate this season and currently sit atop the Western Conference with a record of 22-5-2.  Saskatoon currently leads the entire league in scoring, having already amassed a whopping 130 goals. Even more incredibly, 30 of those goals have come at the hands of winger @124715 Duncan Montana. Not far behind him has been his linemate @HoneyBadger25 Griff Mackenzie who has 25 goals of his own! And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention one of the major catalysts for the team's offense. Defenseman @Ahma David Tavau has been the ultimate dishmaster so far this season with a mind-boggling 46 assists already. If he keeps it up, he will be on pace for 100 assists this season!  Apart from scoring in heaps, the Wild have also done a great job of keeping the puck out of their own net so far this year. Up to this point they have only allowed 71 goals against which is the second best total in the league. While the defense should definitely get credit for shutting down the opposing offense, goaltender @BrutalBoost Andrew Bowman has looked stellar so far in the campaign. With an .898 save percentage, a sparkling 2.36 goals against average, and 3 shutouts already, Bowman looks poised to take the Wild deep into the playoffs!

The Aces currently sit at 17-9-3 and have been red hot as of late, riding a five game win streak heading into this weekend. Vegas is one of four teams that have scored into the triple digits so far this year, but when you look at the scoring breakdown for the team, it's very odd. Leading the way is left winger @Wolverine Darryl McDagg who currently has enjoyed an amazing start to his season with 21 goals, 22 assists for 43 points. From there it gets a little wacky. Including McDagg, they have 5 total skaters with 30 or more points, which is great to have that kind of offense spread out amongst your team. The weird part is that the other four players are all defensemen. It's great to get offense for your blueline, but it's pretty odd that 4 d-men are in your top 5 for scoring. Newly acquired defensemen @Jakefufu Shaggy Tipton is among those who have chipped in on defense. He has himself 31 points but also sports a tidy plus-13 to boot. The Aces gave up a couple of high end draft picks to acquire the services of Tipton, so hopefully he can keep up the good work. Meanwhile, the Aces will need to get more from their forwards if they want to compete in the playoffs. Goaltender @Erik Morgan Karlsson has started in all 29 games and went 17-9-3 with a 2.69 GAA and an .890 save percentage.  If he can keep up his stellar play, the Aces will be a legit threat going forward.

In the first installment of the S77 Power Rankings, I penned Miami in as the number one team in the VHLM. This time around they are down to the fourth position, but they still seem to be a strong club who could do some damage this season.  Miami sits in second in the Eastern Conference with a 15-11-2 record and have a 3 point cushion on Halifax. Right winger @LilHCorny Trevor Wallace leads the team with 17 goals thus far and has found real good chemistry with linemate @Shiny Alexander the Great.  Alex the Great has put up 41 points in total, which is best on the team, and has proven to be a solid playmaking center. The Marauders have been decent offensively, but could definitely use a little extra firepower from other players. @CptSquall Napoleon Bonaparte is a player to watch in that respect. Although he has a respectable 26 points through 28 games, he is a max capped player and has already produced at more than a point per game pace in his past, so there's definitely room for improvement. Defensively the Marauders have been very efficient, only allowing 79 goals against thus far which is second best in the league. The defensive core as a whole has been terrific. Czech checker @Bojovnik Jan Hlozek has chipped in 25 points and leads the team with 37 blocked shots, while Swedish blueliner @ThomasSysterJocke Jockesson has 22 points (all assists) and tops the team in hits with 53. Between the pipes @ClapbombsRus has started all games for Miami has sports an .872 save percentage with a 2.77 GAA. While these numbers are respectable, there is still some room for improvement. I predict Miami to float around second in the East for most of the remainder of the season, but Halifax will be right there every step of the way so they will need to stay vigilant. It will be interesting to see if management opts to add any pieces ahead of the trade deadline.

Previously coming in at #10, the Bulls have moved up five spots to fifth. Their surge up the power rankings is largely thanks to their 18-9-2 record. While they have been winning games a great clip, I still don't believe the Bulls are built for success this season. With only six forwards and two defensemen, they are getting a lot from their meager roster. Center @Senjo1706 Bradley Senjo and winger @Willy Myers lead the way offensively with 56 and 50 points respectively. On the blueline @RicoTheTrapGod has posted a very impressive 38 points (16G, 22A) through 29 points. Their high-end players certainly have produced the way they had hoped, but they are just way too lean and lack the roster depth needed to compete with the stronger teams in the league. I think they would be better off selling their high end assets at the deadline and reloading for next season, but we will have to see how Bulls' management wants to play things. Goalie @enigmatic Aike van Giersbergen continues to develop nicely. He's started all games for Houston and has an .884 save percentage and a 3.03 GAA. Despite his strong development, his numbers may not improve since the Bulls only roster 2 defensemen and are forced to play bot defensemen who are a huge deficiency. If the Bulls were able to sign a couple of defensemen to plug up those holes, their team would be a lot better for it.

While the Halifax 21st find themselves down a spot from where they were previously, it's only be the slimmest of margins and overall, I still think they have a great squad. They currently sit just above the .500 mark with a record of 13-12-3, which places them third in the Eastern Conference. The 21st feature four full lines of forwards ranging in skill and experience. Leading them statistically is American right winger @Tbeez99 Kyle Glass, who has 19 goals and 20 assists for 39 points. His 19 goals matches his total from last year in just 28 games, so there is no denying the fact he is having a massive breakout sophomore season. He's also chipped in 83 hits, making Halifax that much tougher to play against. Another sophomore to watch is winger @GlowyGoat Baldur Poulsen. Poulsen has averaged just under a point per game with 26 points (12G, 14A) through 28 games. While Halifax hasn't gotten a ton of scoring from their back end, defenseman @bluesfan55 has played very solid and leads the team with 95 hits and is a plus-1. Halifax has split duties between two goalies this season, but @williamirc Johnathan Bustard seems to have emerged as the teams starter. In 15 appearances so far, Bustard has posted a record of 8-6-1 with a tidy 2.61 GAA, an .897 save percentage and two shutouts to boot. The Warsaw prospect has played very well thus far. If the players on Halifax continue to develop throughout the season, I think they could be a major player come playoff time.

For whatever reason, the Minnesota Storm haven't found what made them so dominant in Season 76. Their offense has struggled, and although there's been some bright spots, they find themselves in the bottom half of the league for goals scored so far this year. A good sign your offense may be underachieving is when two of your defensemen are in your top three for goals scored.  @VOID Stiles Markuss Puhovs currently leads the team in points with 37 (11 goals, 26 assists). While right winger @Grapes-Tophat_Clan- Grapes has performed admirably with 20 goals and 16 assists, the rest of the forward core has really come up short. I expected more from the likes of @2hawkCalvin Hobbes and @Patrik Tallinder Nils Tallinder, but for whatever reason they just can't seem to get any momentum this season. I think they have the pieces in place to be a great team, and I definitely wouldn't count them out yet. I could see Minnesota management making a trade to bolster their lineup before the trade deadline. In goal, @Flames1Fan Dexter Vaughn has faired so-so, but he will need to find another gear in order to help carry his team to success.

    Prev: 12   |  Current: 8 ⬆️
In the previous edition of the Power Rankings, I had Yukon ranked dead last, but that was solely due to the fact they were without a goalie heading into the start of the season. Shortly after that article was posted, the Rush management were able to come to terms with free agent goalie @Tropicalfire Darcy Cat. Having Darcy Cat in net changes alot for Yukon, but at the end of the day the Rush are focused more towards next season than the current one. As previously mentioned, they dealt away two of their top forwards for draft picks and players that will be under contract for future seasons. That being said, they still have center @Jake Sumner The Great who is tied for the league lead in goals with 30, and fourth in league scoring with 54 points. So for now, the Rush still have a major offensive weapon. If they choose to move him before the deadline, the Rush will undoubtedly fall out of the Top 8 of the Power Rankings. For now they are still a pretty solid team and as far as "the war" is concerned with San Diego, the Rush are the better team. If they finished behind the Marlins it's purely because they moved out their assets to focus on a strong Season 78. For the time being though, young rookies like @Alex_J32 Alex Johnston and @JB123 Nathan Powers have gave Rush fans a reason to keep cheering and have been developing at a great rate!

    Prev: 8  |  Current: 9 ⬇️
Down one spot, and notably one spot below the aforementioned Yukon Rush, we have the San Diego Marlins coming in at number nine! San Diego is a young squad brimming with potential and enthusiasm and they've already made leaps and bounds from last season. Thad has his squad working hard and developing and that's what the M is all about. Left winger @Mistxh J Nicholas Mariani has enjoyed a solid campaign thus far and leads the team with 17 goals and 20 assists for 37 points. Meanwhile his teammate and also Assistant GM @Eldredman Aldwin Craig continues to bring the pain as he's already amassed 125 hits this season. On the blueline, Swedish defender @Gwdjohnson Arvid Johansson has been the Marlins best player, leading all d-men in points with 27. Additionally the Swede leads his entire team in blocked shots with 50. His development has been solid this season and he could get himself on the radars of some VHL executives if he continues working hard. In between the pipes netminder @Jericho Anime Protagonist continues to work on his game and is getting ample opportunity to show what he is made of. It will be fun to watch how Anime progresses through his San Diego story arc. NANI?

    Prev: 11  |  Current: 10 ⬆️
Much like how Yukon was rated towards the bottom of the Power Rankings, Philly also found themselves on the bottom of the heap mostly due to the fact they were goalie-less heading into the start of the season. Since then they have picked up goaltender @Kuba-Fleury. That being said, they still have a ways to go , but they are certainly trending in the right direction. It should be interesting what they decide to do heading into the trade deadline as they have some moveable assets should they choose to defer to competing in next season. The Reapers have been active in waiver claims and have been able to scoop up a decent number of bodies to help round out their roster. Props to @KaleebtheMighty for his successful waiver recruitment design that certainly caught the eye of many.  On the ice there's not many surprises at @glass Kjell Nilsson continues his dominance of the M with 26 goals and 29 assists for 55 total points. Not far behind him is winger @caltroit_red_flames Genghis Khan who has 48 points of his own, including 25 goals, four of which are game winners.  @ColeMrtz Zeljko Ranogajec continues to show he is a high level playmaker as he already has 39 assists which is best on the team. On top of his assists, Ranogajec has also laid out 98 hits and blocked 53 shots. Philadelphia is currently 10-16-3 which is last in the Eastern Conference, but if they kept their team together or even added a player or two,  they could still make a run to make the playoffs.

    Prev: 7  |  Current: 11 ⬇️
I admit, putting Ottawa as high as seven last Power Rankings was a blunder. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and I thought maybe they could build off an okay foundation that they had started with. Many of the teams at the start of the season were around the same spot as Ottawa. The problem is Ottawa hasn't done anything to improve themselves. With just 8 players on their roster, they are still 13-15-0 which is is technically the seventh best record in the league. But do not be deceived. Their 66 goals scored is the lowest total in the league, and their minus-29 is the second worse in the league. At least the team in last place is clearly in tank mode. I'd take that over this Lynx squad that just seems dormant and lacking any direction at all. It's very disappointing as I was hoping the Lynx would finally turn the corner this season and start competing again, but alas, it was not meant to be.

    Prev: 9  |  Current: 12 ⬇️
And last, and absolutely least we have the Mexico City Kings who have went full tank mode. And to be honest, I respect it. New management come in and assessed things. It's time to blow up what's left and start fresh. The Kings are coming off three seasons of successful hockey, highlighted by a Founder's Cup win last season. No better time then now to start fresh. This is also a great example of what your team will look like without a player goalie.  2-29-0 and a goal differential of -109. Yikes, On the plus side, rookie players like @McKelvie Amze Miklavz and  @duckberg32 Watson Stonebridge have showed great promise and  will surely go high in next season's VHLM Dispersal Draft. Keep up the good work lads!

Well there you have it folks! Another edition of the Power Rankings in the books. Mississauga has clearly distanced themselves from the field and seem like the clear-cut favorite to be a cup contender right now. Saskatoon also has alot of great things going for them and should not be overlooked either. After that I'd say teams 3 through 10 all have a legitimate shot at being playoff bound. It's going to be truly fascinating to watch how the VHLM execs handle the new couple of weeks leading into the trade deadline. Who are the contenders and who are the pretenders? Thanks for reading and until next time, happy Easter, and stay safe out there!

Eldredman reacted to KC15 in Tessier's Thoughts on the New Season and the GM "War"
Alternate Captain Luc Tessier was approached after the game by ace reporter, Jacques Martin, who asked Tessier how he felt his rookie season has been going with the San Diego Marlins. Tessier had this to say,

I feel ok about the beginning of the season. I mean, I’m thrilled to have made a VHLM squad as it’s a huge step up for me in my hockey career. And I’m delighted we have started in a way that would put us in the playoffs if the season were somehow to inexplicably end at 15 games.

But I can’t get too over the moon for a 6-7-2 record. We believe we are better than a sub .500 record and are just not yet playing like it. I think it’s mostly to do with team chemistry. We have a lot of new players on the team, including me, and it takes time to gel with your linemates and the different defensive pairings that can be on the ice at any one time with you.

Big shout out to my line mates Nicholas Mariani @Mistxh J and Aldwin Craig @Eldredman. These are two talented wingers and it is an honor to be centering their line. If I can up my FO win percentage from 54.73%, we might have a lot more scoring opportunities for these two.

Yeah, I think if we are playing nearly .500 hockey in the early going, as we come into our own as a team, I think we can make a real push.

Personally, I’m pleased with my start. I was worried I might be a little out of my depth here in the VHLM – especially after seeing the amazing talent that was on display in the recent dispersal draft – but I’m at exactly a point per game right now which is where I think the team needs me to be in order for us to be competitive. I’m particularly please with my +/- of +4. I know this is a stat that D-guys are always looking at, but I think it’s equally important for forwards. Doesn’t matter how many goals you score if you allow opposing forwards to score as many or more, you haven’t done your job.

Jacques Cartier then asked about the recent public back and forth between the GMs for the Marlins and Rush.

Yeah, I don’t really know what to make of that. I can’t tell if they are best friends from college ribbing each other or if there really is no love lost. And you know what – it’s not really my business. As an alt captain of this team, my job is to keep the team’s focus on the ice and make sure that we are giving it our best effort every night.

I know @thadthrasher has been nothing but straight with me and I don’t even know @Juice, but I don’t really care about who gets a pie in the face. I do care about this team performing to its potential. I care about us beating whoever we have to to earn a playoff spot. I care about going deep in those playoffs and if the hockey gods smile, winning a Cup for the fans of San Diego.

Cartier thanked Tessier for his time and wished him well on the season.
