Februrary 13
 
Game 318 - San Diego Marlins - VS- Mississauga Hounds
 
The Marlins may have lost that game 3-5, but Aldwin Craig wasn't going to let them go down easily!
 
The game started of rough and slow with a lot of back and forth between lines and between teams. "Talk about a snore fest" says the Marlins Left Wing Craig. "I was tired of all the nonsense going on out there." Seven minutes into the game and right off the Face-Off, The Lochness Monster ( @LuluSalesAway) shot at the goal but unfortunately for her, it hit the post. Not Unfortunate for Craig though, it bounce right to him and he took his shot. GOAL! He wasn't thinking about this being his 12th goal of his first season; his only thoughts were how thankful he was for a great teammate in "Ness" ( @LuluSalesAway). The game picked up from there with a lot of his and shots on goals. There was even a response goal from the Hounds by @Miks Sunins! Fourteen Minutes into the first period and Craig gets his chance again and scores his 13th goal of the season with an assist from his buddy Ryan Coleman ( @Ryan is a king)! What a great first period for the Marlins.
 
The second period started of with the Hounds catching back up to the Marlins with a goal by Druss Deathwalker ( @animal74)! Even with this score, Craig wasn't deterred. His next chance at a goal came when he got the puck from Guy Lambert ( @Spartakiller2) and was on his way from the goal. A defender came out of nowhere and his intincts told him to take the shot now. He took his shot and Deflected off of his teammate Robbie Fenty ( @Herradura) but was blocked by the talented goal keeper of the Mississauga Hounds, Kirby Pandora ( @PandaBearD25)! As the puck came back out, Robbie took his shot again. This time making the goal! What a play! Fenty gained his Eighth goal of the season and Craig's Twenty Third Assist!
 
The third period of this Marlins game ended in sadness with three unblocked goals buy the Hounds. It was a huge upset to the team, but not much more so for Aldwin Craig. Even with his efforts the San Diego Marlins came up short once again. While holding in his forming tears from anger and sadness, his name was announced as First Star of the game, and down came the tears as joy. He has never been First Star before! As he skated out onto the ice and looked out over the crowd cheering for him, thought of his father filled his head. "If only he could be here for this." he thought.

The Loch Ness Monster and the Dreaded Camping Trip with the San Diego Marlins
 
The Loch Ness Monster has always been somewhat of a loner. With her family dead for 180 million years and her deep disgust for human beings, it had been a long time since she traveled or went on vacation with anyone. Towards the end of Nessie’s first season playing in the VHL for the San Diego Marlins, the General Manger @thadthrasher and Assistant to the General Manager @Spence King told the team that there would be a trip, that there would be bonding, and Nessie would have to go. Nessie hated this idea and dreaded the week ahead of her.
 
What did the management have planned for the team you ask? A camping trip. The San Diego Marlins were going to be spending a whole week together, off grid in the Rocky Mountains in the middle of winter. Nessie liked the idea of seclusion, but then remembering her teammates would be there day and night, she returned to her state of despair. Now Nessie’s hatred for humans may seem harsh, but she felt as if they have always hated her. It was always one extreme or the other when it came to Nessie’s experience with people in the Scottish Highlands; they either called her a fake or tried to stalk, hunt, and put her head on a stake. But because Nessie loved hockey more than anything else in the world, she decided to put up with her teammates, cause no fish species, fellow cryptic, or other creature was as good at playing hockey as human beings (other than plesiosauruses of course).
 
The first day of the trip went just as Nessie had expected in would go, terribly. When the team arrived at the campsite, everyone was excited to see it was located next to a spring, a hot spring. Nessie was unable to go swimming for fear of being boiled and cooked alive. Then when it came time to set up the tents, none were big enough for Nessie, she felt excluded and shammed for her thicc beautiful blubber. Then someone decided to document the first night of the trip with a candied photograph of the group, triggering Nessie as she remembered all those countless stalkers of hers, trying to photograph her in her own home. And to top it all off @Eldredman kept bugging everyone to play D&D with him, which everyone, not just Nessie, thought was super lame.
 
The following four days went just like the first, a lot of activities that excluded Nessie due to her size, her fish like body, and her own stubbornness. But on the fifth day everything changed between Nessie and the rest of the San Diego Marlins. A major snowstorm was approaching on the radar, the food supply was low, and @Justin Burg was missing. Nessie was sent out on the search party to help look for @Justin Burg and because of her absurdly long neck she discovered him laying on top of a frozen pond looking for turtles (the only thing he loves more than hockey). As the team rushed forward to tell him about the snow storm the ice beneath their feet cracked and they plummeted into the Icey waters.   
 
Without thinking, Nessie flopped into the lake, rescued her teammates, and decided to catch some fish to replenish the food supply. She then carried her shivering shocked teammates back to camp on her back. Around the campfire that night, the truth came out. Nessie’s teammates told her that they were skeptical of playing hockey with a plesiosaurus, and that they didn’t really think she could make it on their team. But one by one her teammates looked into Nessie’s gigantic buggy eyes and said, “but now, I believe in The Loch Ness Monster”. That was the night that The Loch Ness Monster decided to stop being a loner, and to start being a team player.

We all look forward to vacations to take a break from our boring routine. It is time to take a rest and do some of our favorite activities. However, vacations also have their own set of disadvantages. Let us see why vacations are important, how to make the most of them and also the disadvantages attached to them.
 
The Importance of Vacations
 
Vacations are important for everybody; a student, a businessman, or even a hockey player. There is a lot of competition these days that has led to immense work pressure on people. Employees these days have long working hours and students need to go to the school, and also require a lot of studying to score well. Businessmen require working day in and day out to set up their business and take it to newer heights. During all this mad rush to accomplish various tasks, it is essential to take a break every once in a while. That is why vacations are of great importance for everyone. They give us the much needed break from our routine, and prepare us to get back to our work with a fresh mind. Working without a break makes us dull and decreases our productivity and happiness. Vacations help in boosting focus and increasing productivity.
 
How to Make the Most of Your Vacation?
 
Vacation time is limited and we must make the most of it. Many people plan a long holiday and then end up tired by the end of it. They seem to need another vacation before they go to work. Others waste away their time sleeping or indulging in useless activities and regret having wasted their vacations. Yet others keep themselves occupied with work and studies only to realize didn’t really take a break from their routine tasks. All these are not a good way to spend your vacations.
 
You must have a balance between these activities. If supposing you have a week-long vacation, it is a good idea to plan a trip for the first three days then take rest for a day, then make a list of the household tasks you need to take care of and complete those. It is also suggested to squeeze in about an hour or two for your work or study for the remaining days after the trip. This is important so that you don’t lose a track of your work and get overwhelmed as you resume after the vacation.
 
When you balance between different things, you feel content as your vacation ends and can concentrate better as you go back to work/school.
 
Disadvantages of Vacations
 
Disrupts Routine: Life is much more sorted when we follow a routine every day. We go to our school/ college/ office at a set time each day and similarly follow a schedule for the other tasks as well. It is easier to manage things this way. Vacations disrupt the schedule and it is difficult to get back to routine after the same.
 
Disturbs Budget: We often plan trips and excursions during vacations and this can disturb our budget. Social media platforms have given rise to such trips. People get inspired to visit various places looking at the pictures posted by their friends and colleagues. Many people plan trips just to show off even if they do not have the budget.
 
Can be a Cause of Boredom: People who do not have company or budget to go out and enjoy often get bored during their vacations. They may even feel lonely and depressed during their vacations.
 
Conclusion
 
While vacations are a good time to relax and rejuvenate these can be troublesome for some particularly those who do not have good company to go out or enough budget to plan a holiday.

Back in 2017, the previous county administration began preparing the land to build an ice hockey facility.
Thadius Sales ( @thadthrasher ) aka Prison Mike, had acquired land in a not to legal way with plans for
a rink named after himself. However, the land is federally protected.
 
San Diego, CA. — San Diego County Executive Sam Daniels is looking to restore a 40-acre site in
Dashing Thrasher Memorial Park. Daniels has recently stated that the previous owner gave away the land to
another individual who began preparing the land to build an ice hockey facility. However, the land is
federally protected, causing a halt to the project and leaving the site damaged.
 
Daniels plans to introduce legislation next week to revitalize the land through a native prairie planting project.
“The native prairie planting project will restore some of the biodiversity that had been stripped from
Dashing Thrasher Memorial Park and will create additional habitat for butterflies, songbirds and other wildlife,” Daniels said.
 
There has been no comment from Sales as of yet.

The Loch Ness Monster: Who is She and Where Did She Come From
Before the Loch Ness Monster (Nessie) started her career in hockey, she lived the tragic and tiresome life of a cryptic. Nessie grew up in a deep dark loch in the Scottish Highlands. It was a lonely life, with every other plesiosaur dead for 180 million years, only her and her cousin Champ remained. As land shifted and waterways changed, loch ness was cut off from the sea, Nessie was cut off from her only remaining kin, there was no way for her to reach Champ in North America now.
 
Time passed and Nessie’s loneliness hit an all time low. So low that she was willing to befriend a human. When she emerged from the loch, a holy man stood on shore. She approached the man with hope in her big bulging eyes, but he shouted and cursed at her. She told herself that day that she never wanted to see or be seen by a human again. Humans began to hunt for her, to harass her with pictures, Nessie knew she would need to leave the loch if she wanted a better life.
 
One winter day Nessie heard swishing and swooshing noises from the layer of ice on top of Loch Ness. When she poked her long horse like neck out of the ice, she saw the most beautiful thing in all the world, a game of ice hockey. Nessie knew then that that was her new life, no longer would she be a world-famous lake monster, but a world-famous hockey player. 
 
After terrorizing the children playing hockey, Nessie took a stick and a puck and began to practice playing on the loch. Locals, tourists, and scouts from hockey leagues all over the world came to see Nessie slip and slide and totally shred as she pushed the puck from one end of the loch to the other. Instantly Nessie was given a contract to play on the Great Britain Women’s National Hockey League. While playing for her first professional hockey team, it became clear Nessie was best at defense. She was strong, thicc, and quick. Nessie moved so fast, only some claimed to have actually seen her.
     
 

  
       
Nessie loved hockey more than anything else, but she still felt a deep sense of loneliness being surrounded by stinky, annoying humans. When the 2020 pandemic hit, Nessie decided it was time to swim across the ocean to North America to find her long lost cousin Champ. Once Nessie found Champ, they would watch the Canadian and American hockey games on Lake Champlain. Nessie realized how much better the hockey players were in North America and decided that this is where she would play from now on. In 2021 Nessie received a contract to play for the San Diego Marlins. Although she was disappointed the team was not comprised of 16.4 foot long, 1,803-pound marine fish; she believes in her new team, and they believe in her.
