  1. It’s been a minute since we last talked, journal. But there’s been a lot happening in my life. I feel happy and at peace- and I’ve been able to be a much more active member of the Boat Gang. I want to use this opportunity to thank Glowy and Rory for drafting me. I’ve said this before, but one of my biggest regrets is not waiting to create after the draft was over- I had, like, zero time to earn for my class and thus my stock tanked. I believe that I would’ve gone much earlier in the draft had I waited to create and just joined a team in free agency. But alas. Basically, thank you Glowy and Rory for taking a chance on me- I was pretty unproven in VHL when I joined and you guys helped motivate me and make me a max earner. I’m happy to be a member of the Boat Gang, and as long as I’m here, I won’t let y’all down. -BH (168 Words) @GlowyGoat @rory
  2. 1. Team spirit! Everytime we're down, we rise up once again with the term "Cup." Or #BoatGang. Either works! 2. Not really, no. We're doing great so far so I don't see any real areas of improvement. 3. The BoatGang chant is a real rallying cry for us. I think it helps us focus and genuinely helps the team as well. 4. Somewhere where there is a copious amount of beans 5. Not really, no. I expected to be doing much better than I already am. 6. I'm honestly fine with just making it to the playoffs. By next season, I want to be a serious contender for some personal bling.
  3. 1. During the off-season, Brock will probably go back home to Corpus Christi and spend time with the community he grew up with. 2. When it's halloween, Brock doesn't dress up, but he does eat lots of candy. Mostly skittles. 3. Building free time into his schedule throughout the weeks. 4. Probably a Sports Journalist. 5. Well, for S75, not sure. But for next season.. also not sure. 6. Fillet mignon, medium rare. Brock has an expensive taste.
  4. Made this when I was still a prospect... Hopefully I can still get TPE from it (I never submitted it before or anything).
  5. BAD GETAWAY Should I have expected it? Should I have expected to suck this bad? I'm not sure. I knew my rookie season was going to be rough... but 1 point? In 13 games played? It just didn't make sense to me. And it still doesn't. I'm working my ass off, day in and day out. And yet I'm garbage. There's no other way of putting it. I'm not going to say I'm "In a bad slump" or "In a bad stretch" or anything like that. I'm garbage. My life has been filled with these moments. Emotional peaks and valleys. When I feel good... I feel good. I feel like I could climb Mount Everest without a rope, and swan dive off the top. I can't sustain those emotional highs for long though. Because sometimes... I just fly too high into the sun. And like Icarus, I have to fall down back to Earth. Now, this isn't a pity party for me. It's more of a... Pissed Off Party, I guess. I'm not sure. But I need a way to clear my head. Yeah, I know. Hockey is a physical game. But if your head isn't in the right place, then maybe that's why you're failing. You could have the best skills in the world, but without confidence, you can't do jack shit. So maybe the secret to success is just to calm down. I know for a fact that I haven't been myself for the past few days. I decided to take a walk around my new home, Halifax. It's a nice city, close to the water and very relaxing. Unfortunately... it was also a pretty ugly day. Sporadic showers and an overcast day kinda ruined my chance of walking. So instead, I decided to give one of my teammates a text. The one, the only... Hadrian. Hadrian is a man of few words, but when you get to know him, he's actually a pretty sage person. Now, I'm going to be honest- I don't really know Hadrian all that well. But, he's the captain of the team... so clearly he knows what he's doing. ~ We talked for a little on the phone before deciding to meet at a Bar later that night. When the time came, we sat down and had a few drinks. By we... I mean Hadrian downed some 2 gallons of whiskey and I watched in awe, fear, and amazement. I'm 18 so... just water for me. Anyways, after it seemed that Hadrian was done downing whiskey, he was ready to talk. "So, Brock, how you do today?" Hadrian boomed. I laughed nervously. "Pretty bad, Hadrian. Pretty bad." Hadrian's eyebrows raised. "Did someone hurt you? Did they steal from you?" I answered. "Yeah, I hurt me. And the only thing I stole from myself is my confidence." Hadrian said, "Do you want me to punch you in the face so that you give yourself your confidence back?" I shook my head furiously. "Never mind, Hadrian. All I know is that we ain't good, especially me." Hadrian nodded his head. "Hokkíguðinn is not fond of us." "Hokki-who?" Hadrian laughed. "Hokkíguðinn! The God of Hockey! He no like Halifax, I guess." "You worship an Icelandic god?" "Yes?" Hadrian replied. "But... you're Briti-" "SILENCE!" I promptly shut up. "Anyways, I wanted to ask you a question. When you feel like shit and just can't perform, what do you do?" Hadrian nodded his head. "I see. You play like stinky shit, you feel like stinky shit." True, I thought. Hurtful, but true. Hadrian continued. "What I do when I feel this way, is go home. See sights of familiarity. Home is comforting to me. Maybe it will be comforting to you." Lightbulb. "Thanks, Hadrian. That helped a lot. I'll try and go home tommorrow." "You welcome, Brock. But remember, no matter what..." "WE WIN CUP!" We said in unison. "Cheers, Hadrian!" We clinked our glasses together. Of course, mine was filled with water. His... his was filled with more whiskey. ~ Before making the flight, though, I had to talk with Rory. The GM. I gave him a call, and he responded pretty damn quickly. "Hey, Brock!" he said. "Rory!" I replied. "Can I come into your office for a sec? There's something I need to talk about with you. "Absolutely," he responded. "Whatever you need." I drove to Rory's office in the shitty Halifax weather. It seemed like a bad omen, If I was being honest. I mean, it was another crappy day. Rain, clouds, and zero boats on the sea. But I tried to convince myself that this wasn't a bad omen. It was just happenstance. We talked for a while, and he decided that it was best for me to head home. "As long as you're back by our next practice," he said. "I don't see an issue. Good luck, Brock." ~ With that, I went back home to Corpus Christi. The place I grew up. And, naturally, I surprised my parents with a visit. We talked for a while, before the inevitable question came up. "Son," my mom said. "Why did you come home, exactly?" I told her the story. She nodded her head. "Well, tommorrow, the ice rink is having a clinic. I have the number of the guy who runs the rink. Maybe we could arrange for you to teach some kids how to play hockey. Maybe that'll help you get your confidence back!" My eyes lightened up. I instantly said yes. The next day, I taught those kids everything I knew. I wanted to prove to them that even though you might be in a tough situation like I was back when I was their age... you can get through it. You can get out. I decided to fly back home 2 days later, to be back in time for the next practice. After saying goodbye to the town and my parents... I felt a lot better. I felt more confident in myself. I walked back into the Halifax Practice Facility and ran into Hadrian. "How was it?" Hadrian asked. "Great." I responded. "Do you feel better?" Hadrian asked, once again. "Absolutely." "Awesome!" Hadrian yelled. "Are you ready to win cup?" "You know it!" -BH (1,041 Words)
  6. Thanks for the shoutout @JigglyGumballs!! shame i suck ass though
  7. 1. I was pretty shocked when you guys choosed me for an Alternate, but I'll take it! Happy to be an Alt of the #BoatGang. 2. I think we have the strength to make it to the playoffs- we have some damn good earners on this team so I'd be surprised if we fell out of contention. 3. I think he needs help because beans are weird 4. Brockhampton (lol) 5. Yes, but also Yes. I mean there's always something to improve on, is there not? 6. He has been going in (and buying) lots of boats. But not Yachts or anything, tiny speedboats. Because they are v fast and v cool.
  8. Well… I’m here now. I’m a member of the Boat Gang! And, to be honest, I’m not surprised in the slightest. When I sat down to talk with Rory about the upcoming draft, I felt as if he and I had a genuinely good conversation. He knew what I was capable of and I knew that he was going to be a great GM for me. And he perfectly understood why I was so.. Wishy-washy about entering the draft in the first place. Look, I understand why I went so late. I was debating whether to enter this year or wait to get signed later on in the season. My parents wanted me to go to college for at least a year- but god knows that I’d probably flunk out by the end of the first quarter. So I decided to pursue my childhood dream- and now we’re here. Thank you to Rory and Glowy for drafting me. I won’t let y’all down. BH (164 words)
  9. mama mia this is absolute heat. I love the color scheme and the absolute attention to detail on the whole thing. The swap is nicely done, along with the background and the font design- everything you've done here works incredibly well. Great job! I don't have anything else to say- 10/10!
  10. REVIEW: I really like this design! As someone who loves the 8-bit aesthetic, I thought that this was super cool and original! I really enjoy the little 8-bit bois and the font you used- but the design itself, at least to me, is a bit bland. Maybe add the 8-bit versions of the winning teams next time if you decide to do another banner in this style! 7/10 from me
  11. 1. Not really sure, I don't know much about the VHL so this is a toughie. 2. Absolutely! I know a few people from the PBE (Hi Glowy, Emi, Dren, and CCC), so the Halifax LR was an easy adjustment for me as a newbie. 3. A speedboat because I want to go zoom zoom. 4. Yeah, I'm excited! Halifax was one of my top destinations so I'm super happy I ended up here. 5. Writing or something, idk. I'm good with writing so probably something in that field. 6. I take a shit. Gotta stay light out there.
  12. 1. The community, I love it here! 2. Not really, as I don't know much about the league. However, the teams that have reached out to me have been super cool, so I'd like to join any of them. 3. Brock Hampton taps the bottom of the stick against his right skate exactly 8 times. 4. Brock Hampton listens to... a lot of Brockhampton. They have good stuff! (This holds true for IRL me as well lol) 5. I love auto racing, so I'd love to drive an F1 car. 6. A major concussion that sidelined him for most of the season.
  13. Review: This is great, nice work lamb! I adore the design, and love that you made it from scratch even more! I really like the design itself and despite the fact that you don't seem to like the text, I really enjoy it. The text works well with the design itself. My only critque is that you didn't do a jersey swap- while the colors of the VHL team and the logo are quite similar, just swapping out the Oilers logo on the front would've been a nice touch. Despite all this... still awesome! 9/10!
  14. Review: This is a really good first sig! Much better than my first attempt lol. The front swap of the jersey is pretty clean and I do like the background a lot, but you can still see the blue of the Avs jersey a bit. My two big criticisms are the fact that you didn't do a complete swap (like the arm logos) and the text, while readable, is still blurry. Next time I'd do a complete swap, but that's about it. For a first attempt this is great- 7/10!
  15. Just a few more days…. Just a few more days. That’s it. Just a few more days until the VHLM draft commences and I finally find myself on a team. Who’d have thought? Me, a lowly aspiring ice hockey player from Texas, is finally on track to be drafted to an actual team. I’m one step closer to proving my worth. Yeah, Kevin and Matt and Joba have their boy band… but now it’s my time to shine. I don’t know what the world has in store for me. I don’t know what the VHLM has in store for me. But all I know is that no matter where I end up, no matter how fall in the draft I plummet or how high in the draft I go, I’ll be a contributor. I work hard, I play hard. I do everything and more. These words sound like cliches, but they’re all true. Corpus Christi was a tough town growing up. It’s crime-ridden and economically torn to shreds. I had to make my first ice skates. My family could barely afford the cost for me to play hockey… and I persevered. The draft is imminent, and so is my rise to stardom in this league. -BH (206 Words)
  16. My first sig in this style. I tried to make the background interesting without it intruding on the text and the photo at all. Did a jersey swap as well.
  17. uh oh my stupid ass did it again, meant to post this in the 6 tpe thing. last time i swear
  18. I have seen just 2 of your graphics in my limited time in this league and holy shit you have never missed. The lighting is great, and the distortion you put on the render's left side is just incredible. The font is sleek, slick, and something I'd really like to implement into one of my sigs sometime. The jersey swap is quite clean as well, good stuff! 10/10
  19. lmao i put it in the correct place this time, go me
  20. Holy hell, this is great! I absolutely love the brushstroke style you did in the background and I think you did a great job with filling in the negative space that often plagues people (like myself) when making sigs. The jersey swap is incredibly well done, with the lighting at the bottom of the Stanley Cup being super nice, and I really enjoy how you made the colors of the Jersey itself pop by greyscaling the skin of your render. Really well done! I really only have one criticism here- the "T" in Theo Axelsson. It just doesn't look great as it obscures the render, which I don't enjoy. Using another font would help with that. However, this is still incredible! 9/10!
  21. lmao i'm stupid and placed this in the wrong category, meant it to be for +6 my b fellas
  22. BROCKHAMPTON are an American boy band from Corpus Christi, Texas. They consist of a few members, including Kevin Abstract, Matt Champion, and Dom McLennon. They’re a pretty good band and they have a decent following around the world. My name is Brock Hampton. I grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. I am not a member of the boy band BROCKHAMPTON. Hell, I don’t even have the lung capacity to rap a full 16 bars. I don’t play music, never have. I play hockey… and I also look almost identical to Matt Champion. Most of my daily life consists of adoring BROCKHAMPTON fans saying to me “Hey Matt, can I have an autograph?” And then me replying: “No, I’m Brock Hampton, the hockey player.” To which they look confused and then promptly exit the Wendy’s parking lot. I’m here to make my name as a center. I’m here to differentiate myself from the boy band from Corpus Christi… and become the hockey player from Corpus Christi.
  23. 1. Well I'm in a few sim leagues besides this one. My main is definitely PBE. 2. Yep! 3. Relatively easy, as of right now 4. The discord. Discord is best. 5. I do everything on my laptop! 6. a fuckton of TPE lol
