  5. It appears that Yaroslav Bogatyrev’s solid start to the season is not just bringing results on the scoreboard. The Russian forward recently began appearing in adverts for General Motors, suggesting a nice payday for the Nizhnii Tagil native. Bogatyrev is already meant to be heading into free agency at the end of Season 88, and his current form could see the Russian forward receive a significant raise on his current salary. The advert sees Bogatyrev driving one of GM’s new 2023 model pick-up trucks. Bogatyrev, a 6’6’’ forward, is known for his large physical size and deft skills. “We have nothing to comment on about Yaroslav’s personal finances. There has been a significant uptick in the number of companies that are interested in working with Yaroslav, and that includes both companies in Russia as well as companies across the world. Yaroslav is always open to working with brands that align with his own personal brand, and we will continue to filter out the relevant opportunities. We have a long-standing working relationship with Yaroslav, and we will continue to search for the best opportunities that offer the opportunity to expand his portfolio and bolster his own personal brand in the months and years ahead,” representatives from Yaroslav Bogatyrev’s agency said.
  6. SEATTLE, April 10, 2023 (Shaiba.ru) – Whisper it quietly, the Seattle Bears could be the team to beat in the VHL this season. The Bears are the only side not to have lost a game in regulation at the time of writing, and they have already stretched out a five-point lead in the North American Conference ahead of the New York Americans. Of course, it’s far too early to say if the Bears will end up storming through the pack this season, but the signs are good. Optimism was already high in the Seattle camp going into S88. The Bears rallied together in the playoffs to knock out the top seed Vancouver Wolves in the conference semi-finals, and put up a strong test against the Calgary Wranglers in the Conference Finals before eventually bowing out. On Sunday, the Bears got revenge against the Alberta side, winning 4-2 thanks to two goals by Tavish DeGroot. Things appear to be looking up for the Bears. Vasile Lamb and the aforementioned DeGroot have continued their good form since joining the team at the trade deadline. Additionally, new acquisitions Mikhail Kovalchuk and goaltender Xaiver Booberry have fitted right in. Another player who has made a major contribution to Seattle’s solid start has been Russian forward Yaroslav Bogatyrev. The coaching staff has made the decision to pair Bogatyrev with young star center Randy Bobandy and the veteran two-way forward Vasile Lamb. Immediately this trio appears to have the chemistry needed to help Bogatyrev push on after two torrid seasons with Seattle. On opening night, Bogatyrev registered a goal as the Bears beat the Vancovuer Wolves. He followed this up with a goal and an assist in a shootout loss to the Los Angeles Stars, and a two-assist performance in an overtime victory against the Vancouver Wolves. At the time of writing, Bogatyrev has 4+9 through 9 games, a points-per-game clip that is almost double the marker he set over his first 144 games in the Victory Hockey League. “It’s been an amazing start to the season. The signs were great during training camp, and we’ve started the season exactly as we wanted to. We’ve got two lines that are consistently scoring, and guys are contributing from the blueline as well. Additionally, it was tough to lose Dusty Wilson, but Xavier has come in and he’s done an amazing job. Of course, we know his pedigree, so we expected him to do this, but it’s been a great boost to the team,” Bogatyrev told a Shaiba.ru reporter via Zoom call. Over the past two seasons, Bogatyrev cut a forlorn figure at times on the roster of the Seattle Bears. He often appeared to be frustrated, both on and off the ice, as his performances weren’t reflected on the scoresheet or in victories for the Seattle Bears. He made several media appearances appearing to be completely low on confidence, but in our recent discussion, Bogatyrev appeared to be upbeat. After facing a constant barrage of negative comments on social media, now the Bears fans appear to have turned in favour of their Russian forward. “I knew coming into this season that things would have to change. I’ve spent too long over here in North America to blame it on the acclimatization period. I’m now in my third season with the Seattle Bears, and everyone has told me that it was time for me to step up, and to start making a proper contribution that would help lead this team to victory. To get the start that I have this season has been fantastic, but I need to do more, I need to maintain this form, and I need to help ensure that the Seattle Bears go on to make a proper playoff run, and a proper run at winning the Continental Cup,” the Nizhnii Tagil native said. When asked about what he felt was different this time round, Bogatyrev said that his chemistry with Bobandy and Lamb was playing a major factor in his current confidence on the ice, and that this confidence was translating into success. “I know that expectations were high when Seattle drafted both Randy and myself so highly in back-to-back drafts. Playing with Randy is fantastic. He’s so skilled, and he plays like he’s been in the league for 10 seasons already. He knows all the tricks, and I think that we can do some amazing things together. Also, having Vasile with us is super important. He’s done it all in the VHL, and I feel that I’m learning so much by watching him train and playing on the same line as him. I feel that we have everything covered when we’re on the ice together, and having that confidence is half of the battle when it comes to playing hockey at this level. Now the important thing is to keep it rolling, whether together or whenever we play on separate lines,” Bogatyrev remarked. Next on the schedule for the Seattle bears are games against the D.C. Dragons and the Toronto Legion as the Bears continue on their march to finish top of the North American Conference. For Bogatyrev, keeping up his form will be vital, as will be avoiding injury. “I came into the season after having surgery on my wrist, and while I thought that this would make the start of the season difficult, I’m surprised that I feel so good. The medical staff did a fantastic job and I feel that I have full strength in the wrist that I injured. I feel in fantastic physical shape, as I really had to focus on getting myself in the top shape while I was unable to grip a stick. To a certain extent, it seems that I’m now in the best physical shape that I’ve been in in my life. On the ice, I feel that I have a half step that I didn’t have in seasons before, and this could be a major factor as to why my play has been to the level that it has been so far. Saying that, I feel that I’ve still got a lot in the tank, and still a lot more potential to fulfil,” he remarked.

  10. Seattle Bears forward Yaroslav Bogatyrev was spotted at Seattle Tacoma Airport on Sunday. According to his representatives, the Russian-born forward flew back from the Urals city of Ekaterinburg to the state of Washington to finalize his pre-season arrangements before the start of S88. Bogatyrev spent several weeks training with his father, and during that time, the Nizhnii Tagil native underwent surgery for a wrist injury. According to Bogatyrev’s agent, the surgery was a success and there are no doubts that he will be in the Seattle Bears’ line-up for the opening game of the season. “It’s great to be back in Seattle. I am super motivated to get the season started and despite my wrist, I feel in good physical shape. My father pushed me hard, and I think I’m in the best condition heading into a season. I need this season to really make a difference, and I think this is the time for me to become a leader on the Seattle Bears. I know the team expects it from me, I know the fans expect it from me, and I want everyone to know that I expect it from myself. The time is now, and I’m ready,” Bogatyrev told reporters on Sunday.
  11. No, this isn’t a post about the blues of the VHL. I’m not going to get into any sort of discussion of these sorts of topics. I’m talking about another VHL offseason. I won’t lie, things with Boga have become a bit of a blur. The last month or so at work has been crazy, giving me far less time to keep up to date with what is going on around the league. That being said, I’m here, I’m still earning, and I’m excited to see what’s going to happen next season with Bogatyrev. It's fair to say that it’s been super disappointing with this player so far. I had perhaps half a season of consistent scoring while I was in the VHLE with the Cologne Express, but my two seasons so far with the Seattle Bears have been a real struggle. I can’t really seem to find what it is about my build that isn’t having success. Sure, I pumped into DEF during my rookie season, but then my sophomore season was devoted to PH and SC, and even then, Boga just continues to suck. How is it possible to keep motivated and positive even when your player is continuing to flatter to device. I think I’m driven to see how far I can get with this player. Perhaps this will be my only SUPERMAX player that I create during my time in the VHL. With Hlozek, if I skipped a week, I didn’t particularly worry. Now I know my max build that I want, and I know how to achieve it. Grinding. Sometimes the grind is a pain, sometimes the grind is demotivating. But I’m here, I’m grinding, and I’ve got to get to my level of 1,250 TPA or so. What happens after that remains to be seen. The idea of continuing to grind while I’m going to have to bank for three or four seasons seems very daunting. Perhaps I’ll just fall off a cliff at the end of the day, but that will also depend on how Bogatyrev continues to play. I’m not sure I can tolerate another season of being an utterly MID player. Sure, last season I led the Boga for Funk campaign, but I’m still waiting for when I’m going to jump off and start bringing anything of worth. That being said, it’s nice to have joined a team that is serious about making a run at the Continental Cup. In my debut season, even on a team that got the second overall pick, we finished in the Wild Card places. Last time round, we got past Vancouver and were only a couple of games away from making the Continental Cup. With three elite forwards and two younger ones (myself and Randy Bobandy), things look like they could come together and the Bears could realistically make a run next season. Sure, it will be difficult, but after missing out on a Continental Cup with Hlozek, I think it’s clear what my goals are going forward, apart from just my personal aims.

  17. Game 6 review: It’s elimination game time in Seattle. The Bears have their backs to the wall after the Wranglers took a 6-4 win on home ice in Game 5. If the Wranglers win, they’ll book their ticket to the Continental Cup final. However, things couldn’t have got off to a worse start for the Seattle Bears after Sax Justice fired home with just 56 seconds on the clock. After scoring twice in the third period of Game 5, Daniel Janser once again made his mark, doubling the Wranglers’ lead. The Bears fired off 17 shots in the second period, but none of them managed to find their way past Oskar Lindbergh in the Calgary net. Instead, it’s the Wranglers who make it 3-0 through Leandro Goncalves. The third period saw much of the same. The Bears huffed and puffed but they couldn’t blow the Wranglers’ house down. Instead, the road side scored twice again in the third frame, eliminating the Berars and advancing to the Continental Cup.
  18. Game 5 review: The series between the Calgary Wranglers and the Seattle Bears is finely poised at 2-2 as we head back to Alberta, Canada for Game 5. And what a start for the Seattle Bears! At 2:20, Russian forward Yaroslav Bogatyrev lit the lamp to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. 92 seconds later, and it’s Tavish DeGroot with his 10th goal of the postseason doubling Seattle’s lead. By the end of the first, it’s 3-1 Seattle after Elias Lampi and Leandro Goncalves scored. After a great start for the Bears, things then fell apart in the second. After winning the first period 3-1, they lose the second 3-1 to send the game into the final period tied at 4-4. Then, as we go into the third, the Wranglers stamp their authority on the game. It’s Daniel Janser who is the difference maker, scoring twice in seven minutes to give the Wranglers the win.
  19. 2. I mean, at least we lost to the eventual winners. They were a good team though 6. Training, training, training. I need to be better next season, that's for sure. 7. I love nuts. Any form of nuts. They're my go-to snack. 8. Not at all. I played good in the series against Vancouver though. I'm hoping to take that momentum going forward. 9. We look really good going into the season. It was great to get Lamb and Degroot back. 11. A Renault Duster.
  20. In what will be shock news for Seattle Bears fans, forward Yaroslav Bogatyrev underwent surgery on Sunday evening on his right arm following an injury he suffered during off-season training in Russia. Bogatyrev returned to his native land and hometown immediately following the Seattle Bears’ elimination at the hands of the Calgary Wranglers in the S87 NA Conference Finals. He was in the midst of a serious offseason training regimen under the supervision of his father, Yuri Bogatyrev, a legendary coach who has led the hockey revolution in the city of Nizhnii Tagil. Details from Russia are few and far between, but local media reported that Bogatyrev fell heavily into the boards during a battle drill. He went to a local hospital for initial tests, before travelling then to Ekaterinburg to undergo surgery in one of the city’s hospitals. “He fell really badly into the boards and was down for a long period of time. It looked like an innocuous drill, but both Bogatyrev and the other guys there were battling really hard. He looked in a bad way as he left the ice, and if he was moved to Ekaterinburg, that is a sign that the injury was serious,” a eyewitness source said.
  21. MOSCOW, March 27, 2023 (Shaiba.ru) – The dog days of the offseason are here. True, there is still the excitement of the VHL, VHLE, and VHLM drafts ahead, not to say that free agency will likely bring some news, especially after the league management made changes to the salary cap for S88, but for many, now it’s the waiting game. We’ve already covered how Yaroslav Bogatyrev, one of the Seattle Bears bright prospects, has travelled back to his home town of Nizhnii Tagil to spend the offseason under the supervision of his father, Yuri Bogatyrev. However, we had the opportunity to speak with Yaroslav once again, now more than two weeks into his rigorous training regimen, to get his sense of what he wants to achieve in his third season in the VHL. Shaiba: Thanks for joining us Yaroslav, it’s always a pleasure. Firstly, how is the offseason going so far? YB: Always good to speak with you. At this stage, things are going well. It’s fantastic to be back home. I’ve had the opportunity to see friends and family, and that’s always the main thing. I don’t get to spend much time in Nizhnii Tagil these days, so I’m thankful for every opportunity I get to be here. I went to the old rink, where I played as a young kid, and ran some sessions with the kids there. My father is still the coach, he’s done it for 30 years. Shaiba: Have you gotten over the loss in the Conference Finals against the Calgary Wranglers? YB: It’s been tough. I think we got on a roll there, and we thought the momentum was on our side. We played so well against Vancouver, and I think there was this feeling that no-one could stop us. In the end, Calgary proved to be too good for us this time round, and then they went on to prove that they were the best team in the league by dominating Davos in the Continental Cup Final. They had some amazing players on that team. Of course, it will be interesting to see if they can do the same this season, but I think in the end, it was a great experience for us. I know that I learned an awful lot in my first deep playoff run, and the other young guys on the team felt it as well. Shaiba: What can you take from the series going forward? YB: I think about how hard we will need to work on both ends of the puck, and the importance of taking your chances when they appear. I think at times we missed a lot of really good chances, and Calgary made us pay for it. I think that we have to be targeting a cup run in S88. The management has made a lot of moves and has set us up for success. We’ve got a great mix of young and experienced talent. Seattle has a history of winning, and now it’s our turn to be a part of it, and I’m excited to see what we can do next time around.
