  1. Ironically would make zero sense, while they did have a good season, initial team missed the playoffs which should disqualify anyone and they were below a point per game with Vegas..

  3. 1. Philadelphia, it was a great time! 2. I’d have to say skiing 3. ready player one is really good! 1. should players always sign for the minimum salary? 2. What team won the VHL draft? 3. Is cereal soup?
  4. Honestly just a weird retirement. Should be noted that the S96 retirement date hasn’t happened yet. As a result they are officially off of LA’s roster for this season.
  5. 1 Prague Phantoms Pan Daffleck @OrbitingDeath D TPE: 410 Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB S95 Regular Season 72 3 5 8 17 38 62 117 63 S95 Playoffs 11 0 0 0 -1 7 10 28 9 Simply put, when an organization has the opportunity to select an OrbitingDeath player, you absolutely cannot pass up that opportunity. Consistently great players have come from this builder, Hall of Famer after Hall of Famer, and regardless of statistical production in the VHLE, you make that selection! With the VHLE now defunct, Daffleck will immediately make an impact on Prague's blue line. He didn't get a chance to really showcase his offensive talents in Cologne, but Daffleck will be the centerpiece of Prague's rebirth, and figures to be an elite two-way defenseman that isn't afraid to drop the shoulder and level his opponents. You hear the phrase "can't-miss prospect" tossed around a lot, but Pan Daffleck is a player that the Prague Phantoms absolutely must draft first overall. 2 Moscow Menace River Harrington @kirbithan D TPE: 403 Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB S95 Regular Season 72 21 59 80 5 246 44 79 122 S95 Playoffs 19 12 11 23 0 53 16 38 62 Pretty much any other season, River Harrington would be a slam dunk first overall pick. But instead, the Moscow Menace get an absolute stud of a defenseman with the second overall selection. Harrington had a phenomenal season in the VHLM with Ottawa, where he showcased his abilities in both ends of the ice with ease. He'll be ready to jump right in at the professional level, and won't miss a beat with his VHL-ready skills defensively. It may be a few seasons before he lights up the stat sheet like he did in the VHLM, but Harrington will be able to jump right in defensively, which is no small feat on a contending squad like Moscow's. River Harrington is going to be a big name in the VHL in a couple seasons' time. 3 D.C. S95 fourth overall pick Konstyantyn Shevchenko is set to be the centerpiece of the D.C. offense, and now they grab his defensive counterpart in Alagsantere Groenvold. There is room for him on the Dragons' roster to jump up right away, and with other prospects in the wings D.C. could suddenly have a really nice blue line to show for themselves. Groenvold is more than capable in both ends of the ice, scoring 64 points and racking up 137 hits and 112 shots blocked with Mexico City in the VHLM, but he would likely factor in more as a defensive specialist as a rookie with capable veterans on the roster. The Dragons are finally piecing together a strong core, and it shouldn't be long before they compete once again. 4 London United Deadpanda @Alex G Season GP W L OTL SV% GAA SO GA SV S95 Regular Season 72 50 15 7 0.924 1.75 9 128 1685 S95 Playoffs 15 8 5 2 0.929 1.59 5 25 353 After the retirement and subsequent enshrinement of the legendary Jesse Teno into the VHL Hall of Fame, the London United have faced the daunting task of replacing the greatest player in their history. At fourth overall, they have their best chance yet with Deadpanda, whose absurd 50 win, .924 save percentage season propelled the Las Vegas Aces to the Founder's Cup Finals. With a strong work ethic that elevates him atop the rankings at his positions, there's still the question of whether or not London would bring Deadpanda up right away or not. The talent is there, but the need for it to happen really isn't. Regardless, this is the franchise goaltender London desperately needs, but time will tell if Deadpanda can match the heights of Jesse Teno. 5 Moscow Menace Brandon Petan Jr @sadie C TPE: 389 Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB S95 Regular Season 72 39 40 79 7 421 24 157 38 S95 Playoffs 5 0 4 4 0 19 0 6 2 Petan is a really interesting case, coming off a great season with Ottawa, There is a bunch of reasons why Petan could be a top 3 pick in the draft. With that being said, the top end of the draft is fairly strong which in this case could lead to Petan sliding to 5th. For Moscow, drafting Petan makes a lot of sense with their current roster being one of the best in the VHL, adding Petan only makes them better and their low cap hit on their ELC could allow the team to compete for a few more seasons extending their window. Petan projects as a elite scoring option, that any team would be lucky to add, there really isn't a reason why Moscow or any team can make a mistake with picking them. 6 Warsaw Predators Slava Kovalenko @OblivionWalker D TPE: 301 Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB S95 Regular Season 72 24 65 89 24 231 54 179 142 S95 Playoffs 9 3 7 10 6 38 4 17 17 Warsaw has hit the reset button and what better spot to start off then by taking the draft top first gen, and potential franchise defensemen. Warsaw will get everything they could possibly want with Kovalenko, as they truly project as a number 1 defensemen and potentially could pan out as a top 3 defensemen in this class. Kovalenko is coming off a very strong season in the VHLM, and the sky is the limit for this young prospect. 7 Warsaw Predators Chazz Michael Michaels @Xflexz G TPE: 308 Season GP W L OTL SV% GAA SO S95 Regular Season 72 44 23 5 0.914 1.92 11 S95 Playoffs 4 0 4 0 0.882 2.51 0 Following drafting a top defensemen, we have Warsaw taking Chazz Michael Michaels, a future starting goaltender with very good potential that does project as a top 5 goalie in the league. Warsaw does have Pipo Papa that will be a serviceable stop-gap goalie in the interim, and will allow Micahaels to develop in the minors. Michaels is coming off a solid season in the VHLM and will be returning for another in the near future. This draft sets the tone for a Warsaw rebuild and it is safe to say that they are on the right path! 8 Helsinki Titans Youre Not Fucking Retiring @twists RW TPE: 305 Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB S95 Regular Season 72 58 58 116 38 502 40 155 43 S95 Playoffs 14 12 7 21 1 94 6 21 4 Following the early retirement of their previous player, Youre Not Fucking Retiring joined the VHLM and has been spectacular since then. The player that will surely be the unanimous VHLM MVP along with several other awards finds themselves going 8th to Helsinki in our mock in part due to other players having higher ceilings. There's no reason why they can't reach that same level though and Helsinki should be able to get a steal here at 8th before the draft starts to trail off slightly. 9 London United Narnia Shaw @Dabnad D TPE: 267 Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB S95 Regular Season 72 9 59 68 -5 96 98 187 127 S95 Playoffs 10 1 2 3 2 5 6 8 7 London is looking to rebuild their entire roster. After grabbing their goalie of the future with their earlier 1st round pick, they move to grab the next best piece to slowly help them transition into a legitimate contender. With the 9th overall pick, London selects Narnia Shaw. Having played with both MIA and SSK, Shaw came alive in the later part of the S95 season. There's potential that they could be a significant assist machine along with bolstering a dominant physical presence. London can rest easy knowing that their defensive core will be forms with Narnia Shaw leading the way. 10 Seattle Bears Wefernardo Mackingikus @vincentlg2007 RW TPE: 245 Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB S95 Regular Season 72 43 50 93 24 443 40 149 35 S95 Playoffs 14 6 9 15 10 53 14 31 3 Seattle sits in a different position than London, with a currently competitive roster and a strong forward group. Yes, at the moment of writing this, they only have 2 defensemen. I have no doubts that Bana will end up solving that roster question, but the potential of Wefernardo Mackingikus is too great to ignore even for a team with as good of a forward group as Seattle's. Putting up 93 points in the regular season along with 15 points in 14 games in the playoffs, Mackingikus provides an additional boost to the high quality forward group in Seattle. 443 shots in a single VHLM season is no joke, and Wefernardo means business. Seattle confidently makes this selection at 10th overall. 11 Helsinki Titans Joel Jakobs @Plate C TPE: 225 Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB S95 Regular Season 72 33 62 95 27 316 43 130 35 S95 Playoffs 14 8 16 24 17 74 10 30 2 Mclovin has the potential to make this draft a game changer for Helsinki. And I think he absolutely does that here. Grabbing YNFR with the earlier pick, he completements the forward selection with a center pick in Joel Jakobs. A point machine in the VHLM, Jakobs put up 95 points with the Reapers and made a statement with 24 points in the playoffs. They're a great offensively minded player, focusing on both scoring when needed and creating plays to get points on the board. There is some serious potential for greatness in the future for Helsinki with this pick. 12 Helsinki Titans Draw Mac @okochastar G TPE: 261 Season GP W L OTL SV% GAA SO S95 Regular Season 64 34 21 9 0.922 2.04 7 S95 Playoffs 10 6 3 1 0.938 1.41 1 Helsinki continues their stellar first round with another key selection. With their forwards set, they turn to the crease with the selection of Draw Mac. Heralding a stellar 0.922 SV% and a 2.04 GAA in the regular season, they doubled down in the playoffs proving that they were a serious goaltender. While many will point to Deadpanda being the best goalie of this draft class, Draw Mac is not at all far behind in that conversation. Helsinki snags their goalie of the future with the 12th overall pick, which will wrap up an incredible first round for the Titans. 13 Prague Phantoms Dog Jagr @koty_k D TPE: 202 Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB S95 Regular Season 72 15 48 63 15 173 84 219 148 S95 Playoffs 10 0 4 4 1 13 8 10 17 Dog Jagr and the user behind him are fresh to the VHL scene as the 2nd first gen player we are projecting to get picked in this mock draft. Prague acquired this pick along with the 16th overall selection in a recent trade with the Davos Dynamo in an attempt to get more volume in this light prospect pool they find themselves with. Picking here is tough with a huge risk of inactivity but Dog has proven to be quite a good player thus far. Assuming things go to plan for Prague, Jagr could slot in nicely as their 3rd or 4th defenseman on the depth chart in the future. Talents like Petit Hughie and Lazlo Holmes are already with the team and potentially Pan Daffleck could be added as a likely #1 pick to the squad. As for the player himself, he managed a nearly point per game campaign with the Miami Marauders of the VHLM last regular season. The young Czech showed signs of inexperience and lacking poise with a weaker postseason performance, but that will be learned with time. The Welfare Plus style of earning this user has been decently consistent which means a strong chance of one day being a crucial piece for whichever team selects him. 14 Chicago Phoenix Vladimir Trunov @qripll G TPE: 216 Season GP W L OTL SV% GAA SO S95 Regular Season 20 6 10 4 0.917 2.75 2 S95 Playoffs 5 1 3 1 0.869 4.13 0 Chicago now gets their first crack at this class with 13 picks already down. The Russian netminder should catch their eye here as their farm system features really no help in goal. Artyomov is three seasons from retirement but only has 2 more under contract with the team so now is the perfect time to invest in a higher earning goaltender. In most draft classes you'd struggle to find a puck stopper of this caliber in the teens but with the depth at the position the 3rd member of the Trunov clan falls right in the laps of the Phoenix. Vladimir was only a waiver addition to the VHLM this past season but managed very respectable numbers heading into Halifax's playoff matchup, where the team was swiftly sent to the driving ranges in five games. Trunov is quite green with only 25 games recorded at the VHLM level, but that also means he can be described with McLovin's favorite word ... MOLDABLE! 15 Toronto Legion Kurt Bachmann @Blutch D TPE: 182 Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB S95 Regular Season 72 13 53 66 44 150 94 226 120 S95 Playoffs 9 1 4 5 4 16 14 38 12 Toronto comes off a cup finals appearance with their first round pick in hand. Here with viable options limited, we project them to take a stab at the German. Based on his in season production, a selection after Dog Jagr could be seen as a crazy outcome but VHL GMs tend to focus on potential more than the stats. That said, the production is a good sign of a player who has a decent idea of where to focus their TPE when they get it, which is a major plus. Bachmann managed a great campaign as a lockdown and hard hitting defender. He served as the blue line anchor for a stacked offense in Mississauga but did manage to contribute quite a bit at that end of the ice himself. The only thing holding this user back from a higher selection is a bit of earning discrepancy in terms of consistently getting that trivia and press conference done. For Toronto this pick makes a ton of sense considering the impending retirement of Bobby Bob and potential Free Agency of Andrew Skilton after S96 but it's doubtful Kurt can plug those holes as early as S97 with his current earning trajectory. 16 Prague Phantoms Victory Hockey League @TheHockey_pro D TPE: 162 Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB S95 Regular Season 72 23 39 62 -5 211 58 155 152 S95 Playoffs 5 0 3 3 -6 12 14 12 8 To cap off the first round of the S96 VHL Entry Draft we once again have the Phantoms of Prague. As stated with their pick at #13, players in this range have a huge risk of going inactive so investing in Defense again is not too big a problem. If at least one of these two eventually cracks their roster, this draft is a success. Admittedly, the name is going to be a major factor for any General Manager who throws this dart, but the player can't just be a name. Victory Hockey League has proven to be of a similar caliber as his previous two defensive compatriots, also boasting the very same 1st gen tag as them. Having played for a Halifax team on their way out of orbit, this season wasn't perfect for VHL. However, this young sim league managed to keep grinding and post some pretty decent numbers in the wake of a seller's deadline. VHL has a slightly less physical style compared to Jagr and Bachmann but makes up for it with elite positioning to quickly shut down any shooting lanes. Which of these lower first/ early second round Defensemen goes on to have the best career will be a fascinating storyline to follow as they progress, especially if Prague manages to nab two of them for themselves. 6. Legend: Yellow = played games then traded Purple = Appears elsewhere on trade tree Red = Retired with Team Blue = Current Prospect Green = Currently on Roster Going back to these trades is always interesting, ironically, I would say that while currently Malmo has no players remaining on the roster from the trade, they made out very well, with getting their starting goalie. For Seattle, it's been a long road, but they've gotten a fair bit out of the initial trade, and the tree could keep going in the near future. If you have any trade suggestions please let me know!

  14. No matter what happens in at most 5 days, the top 3 picks from the S87 draft will play their final games in the VHL. In the S87 Draft Toronto selected Mac Atlas 1st overall, Riga drafted Skor McFleury, and then it was back to Toronto who took Jimi Jaks 3rd. - Mac Atlas @v.2 The aforementioned 1st overall pick, has had a great career to date, having played 648 games and having 670 points, 337 of which were goals. Atlas played a major role in Toronto's Continental Cup in S91 where they had 29 points in 15 games. Atlas has one all-VHL team appearance from when they made the 2nd team in S94. While Atlas hasn't had a season strong enough to take home hardware, they have been nominated a couple times and have been a consistent fixture in Toronto, and very much the face of the franchise. - Skor McFleury @Alex The 2nd overall picks career has been very different than both Atlas and Jaks. After spending the first two seasons of their career in Riga, McFleury would play for Davos, where they won a Continental Cup, Malmo, Calgary, and Prague, before returning to Riga. McFleury became the 2nd player ever to have over 700 points, 1000 SB, and 1000 hits in their career and won 6 individual awards along the way. McFleury has also made a All-VHL team 5 times over their career. - Jimi Jaks @ke1vi The final pick of the top 3, Jaks has had a interesting career, having consistently improved every season, until S94 where they broke out and won 4 individual awards in one season as they racked up 62 goals and 131 points. In total Jaks has had 660 points in 576 career games. Jaks has made 2 All-VHL teams in their career. This will be the 5th time Riga and Toronto have met in the finals, with the most recent being over 40 seasons ago in S51, in total Riga has won 3 of the prior matchups, with Toronto taking one. In the regular season Riga won 3 of the 4 games, all of which were later in the season. In terms of the series it's hard not to give the edge offensively to Toronto as there's 4 players with over 1000 TPE, Riga however is significantly stronger on the blueline and in goal. For Toronto to find success in this series it will all be about Diego Machado @Dadam30, Harry Callahan @dstevensonjr, Mac Atlas, and Jimi Jaks who will be tasked with trying to get the best of Riga's defense. For Riga it's very much the opposite as McFleury, Lucy Leitner @LucyXpher, and Fradin McGryer @Fradin99, will need to shut down Toronto's offense. Possibly the 2 biggest difference makers in this series will be both Axle Gunner @Steve, and Red Panda @Lemorse7, who will both be looking to turn the series on it's head. Either way the series goes, both teams have had a great run, and the retirees have carved out phenomenal careers in their own right!
  15. I think @leandrofg keeps them in his basement...
  16. Damn, half them got swept by Davos… talk about the opposite of outstanding… yes, I know our a regular season award, I’m being sarcastic.
  17. I’ll apply

  19. Coming up to the draft with Deadpanda, it’s a bit different than previous drafts as I really don’t know what I want to do career wise. With both my previous players I did set out with trying to stick it out with staying with one team, but for one reason or another that never happened. My first player just got buried on a very strong Calgary team, and McFleury was just the perfect 2nd defensemen for Davos right in the middle of our cup window (if you ignore Davos winning the cup that season @hedgehog337 fleeced me). But I do want to take a page out of @FrostBeard’s book and treat Deadpanda as a character, personality wise I think that they are very self involved and really just don’t care about other people. So, with that being said here’s a bit about Deadpanda and their thoughts on the draft process: 1. Deadpanda will only sign a contract for a team IF they receive an interview from the GM that isn’t just a copy/paste. 2. When they make it to the VHL they aren’t a backup goalie (unless they receive a considerable bonus to make it worth their time). 3. They are really enjoying their time in North America and would prefer to stay there but are flexible on that dependent on the interview. 4. They will be spending S96 in the VHLM.
  20. I've almost gone to FA multiple times with McFleury, always ended up doing a sign and trade. Really want to just jump around teams via FA with my current player, just to try something different.
  21. GG Moscow!
  22. 1. I don't really have an attachment to any of them, maybe Cologne? 2. Kind of under rated since Warsaw finished 5th and Davos 4th, but strictly on paper it's a considerable upset. 3. I'd have to go with Johnny Tsunami @Vice, while their offensive production has been below average, they have had a very strong season within their role, and I really look forward to seeing them take a massive step next season! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. What's your bold prediction for the playoffs? 2. the VHL draft features 3 goalies around the same TPE, who goes first? 3. Which was named first, the colour orange or the fruit?
  23. Welcome to VSN’s VHL playoff preview and predictions, in this article we’ll break down each series and discuss what players could be key to turning the tide of the series and potentially pulling off an upset. This was truly an incredible season and we could be in for a few upsets in the playoffs. While you’re here be sure to check out some of the other recent VSN articles, also sorry about the delay, I'm coming off a crazy busy weekend. S95 VHLE Playoff Preview | Sjin's Locomotive - The Cologne Express Conference Semi-Finals Vancouver (2) vs. Chicago (3) This series presents two very different stories, Vancouver stormed back after their usual slow start, whereas Chicago has been great and consistent all season. Both teams do have fairly strong rosters, but with Vancouver having a significant edge in almost every position this will be a uphill battle for Chicago with the series essentially being on the shoulders of Ryan Artyomov as they will be tasked with shutting down Vancouver’s high powered offense. We have Vancouver edging out Chicago here. Prediction: Vancouver in 6 VSN vote: VAN 8, CHI 2 Toronto (1) vs. Seattle (4) If there’s an upset in any series it will be here, Seattle was dominant in the season series, winning 4 of the 5 matchups, largely thanks to Giorgiy Costanzov who will be a massive X-factor in this series. Toronto’s playoff hopes will depend on their old core of forwards, namely Mac Atlas, and Jimi Jaks who will need to elevate their game once again. We’ve got Seattle pulling off the upset in a very tight North American Conference. Prediction: Seattle in 6 VSN vote: TOR 3, SEA 7 Malmo (2) vs. Riga (3) Malmo and Riga have gone toe to toe all season, in the regular season Riga took a slight edge winning 3 of the 5 games. With that being said every game was very close except for one game where Malmo was just dominant. This series could very well just be how well Malmo’s defense and Jacob Stone can shut down Riga’s offense led by Axle Gunner. This series should by all means be a close one that could really go either way, but we’ve got Riga coming out on top. Prediction: Riga in 7 VSN vote: MAL 4, RIG 6 Moscow (1) vs. Davos (4) This series should be the most one-sided series on paper, with Moscow having a significant edge with both their forwards and defensemen. For Davos this series will likely be dependent on Grimgor Ironhide, Antonia Bucatini, and most importantly Aleksanteri Kaskiniemi-Kekkonen who will need to stand on their head to give Davos a chance against the defending champions. Without much more to say, there’s no reason why Jarmo Ruutu and company will not win this series. Davos may steal a game or two, but this should be all Moscow. Prediction: Moscow in 6 VSN vote: MOS 8, DAV 2 Conference Finals Vancouver (2) vs. Seattle (4) This is possibly the most interesting series of these playoffs, Vancouver won the season series 4-2 and while most games were fairly close, Vancouver does have a significant advantage going into this series. Long-time Wolves skater Liv Slater is primed for an offensive show and this series could very well be it as they look to take advantage of Seattle’s defense. For Seattle this series will be dependent on just that, as they’ll be looking towards Mina to help shutdown Vancouver. We’ve got Vancouver taking this one in a close series. Prediction: Vancouver in 6 VSN vote: VAN 7, SEA 4 Moscow (1) vs. Riga (3) It seems like the whole season in the European conference has been coming to this point as Riga and Moscow go head-to-head. Moscow won the regular season (4-2) and will be looking to do the same thing here. This series could really go one of two ways, either a defensive showdown, or just a pure offensive battle, really just depending on Red Panda and Olober Syko as they’ll both be tasked with keeping their team in it. We’ve got Moscow replicating their regular season success and ending the Reign. Prediction: Moscow in 7 VSN vote: MOS 6, RIG 5 Continental Cup Finals Moscow (1) vs. Vancouver (2) Do you ever get Deja Vu? Because we have just that, and Moscow and Vancouver meet yet again. With Moscow finally getting over the hump last season they come into this series with a different outlook. In the regular season both teams took 2 games, on paper these two teams are extremely alike, and realistically it’s hard to differentiate the two teams, but Vancouver comes in with a slight edge with both their forwards and defensemen which may just be too much for Moscow thanks to their superior depth. This could be a close one, that could really go either way. We’ve got Vancouver bringing the Continental Cup home yet again. Prediction: Vancouver in 6 VSN vote: MOS 4, VAN 8 Thank you to everyone for reading and best of luck to each and every team in the playoffs! If you have any predictions of your own feel free to post them in the comments.
  24. Thanks for the kind words! To be blunt the entire expectation for this season was to make the playoffs. It’s good to see the team moving in the right direction, should be an interesting series against Moscow!
