  1. I suppose this review is alittle biased because its of me, but I love it! Its creative and has a very simple, yet clean look. Love the large font put in the background leaving Bastian more room to shine haha. Good choice of render. The logo is attached seamlessly leaving a very clean look. Solid 10/10

  2. Welcome to the first episode of GREISSY’S CORNER. It’s only fitting that for the first episode I tell you a bit about what GREISSY’S CORNER is before we get into the action. Every week or two I will be posting a media spot that focuses on issues and league related topics and then diving into them a bit deeper. Some things GREISSY’S CORNER will include are:

    •    Player and personnel interviews
    •    Player breakdowns
    •    League drama and antics
    •    Game analysis
    •    And much more!

This is new to me, and I haven’t historically been a great writer or story teller, so any feedback or comments would be greatly appreciated! I am always open to suggestions. Furthermore, if there is a topic, you’d like for me to cover in future episodes, feel free to PM me on here at “Thatsgreissy” or on discord at Bastian Greiss#1693.

Now, lets get into this week’s topic…..

I’m here to try to answer the question that’s on everyone’s minds, “What’s going on with the Mexico City Kings?” How can a team go from winning the Founders Cup one season, and then end up at the bottom of the league the very next season? While to the outside world it seems like they’re just a rundown team with unskilled players, it actually goes far deeper than that. See, I wouldn’t say that Mexico City is lacking skill, because in truth, they have some very bright players that are putting up some impressive numbers; instead, it comes down to two things:

    1.    Tired Players
    2.    Lack of goaltending

A major issue that Mexico City has run into this season is their roster size. Mexico City only has 6 Forwards, 1 defenceman and 1 goalie, who might I add, was only added to the roster recently. If you take a look at the roster sizes for the other teams, there is only 1 other team with a roster with less than 10 players (Ottawa Lynx), and there are two teams with 20 players. Having fewer players on your roster may give players more ice time, but without a full roster, players are forced to play longer than they can handle, and once their energy burns off, there’s no one to replace them so they are forced to stay on the ice well after they have burnt out.

The second issue, that have plagued the Mexico City Kings this season is the lack of goaltending, and no, I’m not saying Bastian Greiss isn’t a good goaltender, because truthfully, so far, he has out-performed everybody’s expectations; I’m saying, up until game 33, Mexico City didn’t have a goaltender. Without a reliable goaltender, it is not only hard for a team to stay motivated, but it’s also hard to focus on putting the puck in the net when you’re constantly forced to put your focus on defence to bail out whatever sub-par fill in goalie you have to deal with. Before the addition of Bastian Greiss to the roster, Mexico City only had 2 wins, since Greiss stepped in, Mexico City has won 6 out of their last 17 games.

So, I’ll leave you with this question…

Do the Mexico City Kings have a chance to catch up in the tail end of this season, or have the reigning champs been de-throned?

Thanks for tuning in to this week’s instalment of GREISSY’S CORNER,

    see ya on the ice.

    Press Conference

    (Answer for 2 capped TPE)

    1. Since the addition of Bastian Greiss to the roster, as a team we’ve been able to secure 6 wins in the last week. Is this a fluke or do you think we can keep the momentum going and get a few more?

    2. In your opinion, what could your GM and AGM do to make your time in Mexico more fun and enjoyable?

    3. What is one strength and one weakness you’ve noticed with your player in this season so far?

    4. If you were to be drafted into the VHL next season, what team would you want to be drafted to and why?

    5. Our team is at the bottom of the league right now, in your opinion, why has our team struggled to find traction this season?

    6. Tell me one thing that’s interesting about your players life!

  5. My Opinion on shrinking the VHLM

I know what your thinking, WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO SHRINK THE VHLM........ Well, hear me out, I think i have a good point.

The point of this league and how its set up is to have as realistic of a sim as possible, in order to have a realistic sim, you need to have realistic roster sizes. Taking a quick look at teams around the VHLM, most have very tiny rosters.... My team included with only 7 players including myself. I think this is an issue for one main reason, TPE. If you look at TPE its pretty simple, the more you have invested in your player, the better chance they have at performing well during a game. The problem here lies, with individuals that don't put the effort into getting TPE, which reflects on our team, especially when we have so few players on our roster.

What I propose, is to shrink the VHLM by a handful of teams so that we can fill the rosters of the other teams. This allows better players that try hard to earn TPE to get more ice time, and players that don't care or play passively, to get less time on the ice and hopefully lessen the negative impacts on the team.

  6. What I think the VHL needs

For those of you that done know me, i just graduated from college with an advanced degree in sport management.  Through this program, i have learned many valuable things about sport and how to manage leagues and tournaments amongst other things. One important thing i Learned during my time in school was the importance of social media. Social media is the backbone of many sports organization worldwide, and it is such because of its ability to quickly and effectively disperse important information to the public.

Heres why i think this pertains to the VHL. Through completing a basic google search, it is clear the VHL does not have much of a social media presence. But thats understandable, it is a difficult thing to manage and it takes a lot of time. But I think, with the right people, social media could exponentially grow this league.

    What the VHL should do?

I think the VHL should hire a handful of social media personnel from the league, and create a social media presence on Instagram. Instagram has quickly become one of the most used social media platforms and many professional teams and gaming teams/leagues use it daily to market themselves. If the VHL were to create an instagram, we could post scores, updates, important new and articles about the league and try to market ourselves into a new growth phase. The position of social media team could offer a weekly TPE allowance, and a further recommendation would be to create a un-capped TPE task that anyone can participate in where players send in potential social media posts that could be used by the social media team.

If any VHL admin read this and would like to discuss the idea further and in more depth, please feel free to reach out to me in the forum or on Discord at Bastian Greiss#1693

  7. . With two recent wins, what are your expectations for the rest of the season?

The season started off on the rocks, theres no doubt about that, but we've been getting stronger as a team, and i think we still have a few surprises left for the other teams in the rest of this season.

    2. Is Bastian Greiss that good as a goalie or are we on an upswing?

Bastian has been on a hot streak these last few games, he's new to the league but hes already showing hes comfortable on the ice; i think he's a strong asset to the team, and i expect our momentum to last.

    3. Favourite place to eat in Mexico City?

You know what, this may sound cheesy, but heading up to the concessions before the game and grabbing a hot dogs has got to be my favorite haha.

    4. You can add any one rule to the league, what is it?

I think we should raise the amount of capped TPE you can earn in a week! If you're willing to put in the effort, your player will reap the rewards.

    5. Do we need a new logo in your opinion?

I love our logo, but truthfully, i think we need a new logo that shows a little bit more of Mexico and its history and culture.

    6. We are entering a lockdown where I live....how have you been handling covid and all that comes with it lately?

Covids been a real struggle, Ive always been a really social guy, and not being able to really go out and do anything outside of home, or the rink, has been a real hard adjustment i've had to make.

    I’m interested

  9. Name: Bastian Greiss

    Number: 29

    HT: 6’4

    WT: 200 lbs

    Catches: Left

    Born: July 3rd, 2002 (18) Nuremberg, Germany

In 2002, Bastian was born into a young farming family that lived in the countryside of Nuremberg. At the age of 3, Bastian’s father, Manuel, began taking Bastian to skating lessons at the local ice rink. Bastian was quick to learn, and was eventually enrolled in a AAA club in Nuremberg at the age of 5. Bastian again, was quick to learn but during his first two seasons, Bastian had only been credited with 4 wins.

At the age of 12, the Greiss family moved cross-country to Hamburg where Bastian began training with a single A team during their first summer in Hamburg. The following season, Bastian would be added to the roster and put up an impressive .923 sv%. For the next 2 years, Bastian would continue to train with the single A team and continue to improve his skills. At the age of 15, Bastian was approach by Jungadler Mannheim, an elite junior team in the GDL (German development league). After a short talk, Bastian agreed to sign with Mannheim and the Griess family was forced to move once again. One in Mannheim, Bastian was introduced to his new goaltending coach, Hans Svienstagger, a GDL legend. Over the summer, Hans put together a very strict training regiment for Bastian that would quickly prepare him for his first season in the GDL. In his first season with Mannheim, Bastian was assigned to the backup roll, but after starting goaltender, Leon Stritz suffered a season ending injury in just the 4th game of the season, Bastian was promoted. By the end of the first season, Bastian had put up an impressive .937 save %, 1.32 GAA and 7 SO. After his impressive performance, Bastian was officially crowned starting goaltender and went on to once again, post an extremely impressive season setting a new club record for save % at .912 by the end of the season.

The following summer, at the age of just 17, Bastian was approached by the GM of Adler Mannheim of the DEL (Deutsche Eishockey Liga) and continued to sign a 2-year contract. Bastian was one of two rookie goaltenders to join Mannheim, but due to his experience and impressive performance, he was chosen as starting goaltender. On his first night in the DEL, it was clear to all in attendance that Bastian was destined to go far in hockey after an impressive 4-0 win, granting Bastian his first professional shutout in only his first game as a rookie. Throughout the rest of the season, Bastian continue to impress, collecting a .914 sv %, 1.89 GAA and 6 SO by the end of the season.

At the end of the season, The GM of Adler Mannheim was approach by the GM of the Mexico City Kings of the VHLM, and in an extremely rare occurrence, Bastian remaining contract year was bought out, and Bastian was drafted to the VHLM Mexico City Kings where he is currently positioned as starting goaltender about to experience his very first, VHLM game at the young age of 18.

Hey there @ThatsGreissy welcome to the VHL!

I am the General Manager of the Mexico City Kings and I wanted to reach out about having

We aren't a very good team at the moment (basically all draft recruits from your class) compared to some who may ofer for you but you would receive a lot more opportunity here, immediately being trusted into a Starting Goaltender role as we have been desperately looking for a goalie.  Unlike those offering you backup chances, this will give you a premium chance to get your player on the ice as much as possible in high leverage situations.  You then would have the opportunity to be drafted at the end of the season to continue your journey.

If you have any questions, please reach out and if you want to join Mexico City for the rest of the season, please quote this and say #KingsoftheWorld.
