Miami Marauder Press Conference – Week of April 20, 2025 1. The Marauders have picked up some beauty players. Even though were eliminated from playoffs has it been fun with the new crew of fresh faces for you? 2. Draft is approaching. Any ideas where you think your player will go in draft? 3. Who is your dark horse in the NHL playoffs to cause havoc in playoffs? Mine is Ottawa. 4. Are you watching/reading any TV/book series currently? 5. Would you rather drink bourbon, scotch, tequila, or beer? (If you are of age) 6. Do you want envision any player you create to make Hall of Fame?

It’s another week closer to the VHL/VHLM playoffs and a lot has been going on. Some personnel changes that hit close to home and a Miami Marauder spotlight are in the works for this week’s Around the League. CALGARY GM So, since I joined the VHL the Calgary Wranglers have been a very good team with a loyal group of players that seem to end up there or manage the club. This season, they have a solid roster up front and defense, and an amazing goalie in net. Currently 3rd in NA standings they will compete in this season’s playoffs and could have the club to take a Cup. Now usually when I speak about Calgary it’s because of the intense rivalry between my club (Vancouver) and them. However, now I will praise them. With their long time GM @leandrofg retiring a spot opened for a new GM to slide in. And who better than current Miami GM, @Ricer13. A user that bleeds Calgary red (a Vancouver fan in real life = Irony). But I can think of no better person to lead a VHL club. I have spent almost three season as @Ricer13 AGM in Miami of the VHLM and have watched how great he is for this league. The consummate team player and ultimate mentor I have watched him lead a club through both winning and losing seasons, and his passion never changes. The simple fact is that new users stay in the VHL simply because of the effort he puts in to mentoring new players. Always available with a helping hand and wise in the ways of the VHL process I have no doubt Calgary will win under @Ricer13 and will be a destination and locker room players want to belong to. Truly not enough good things can be said about @Ricer13 as an ambassador for the league. I have learned so much for him and many members of our Miami roster will echo the same things I have said above. So, on behalf of all the Miami players you lead currently in the M or starting their careers in the VHL, THANK YOU! You deserve to lead a VHL club, and it has been a true honor to be your AGM for the last few seasons. You are without a doubt one of the best GM's in the league but an even better person, and the ultimate father! I have enjoyed sharing our kid's events over the last few seasons. Best of luck in Calgary! Let Ninefingers get a few on Spider please. Miami Marauder Spotlight It’s no surprise the Miami Marauders are in the midst of a re-build and this year has been a struggle. We went for it last year and came up short, so we have to re-fuel and try again. This season has been a great introduction to some new and returning players. The locker room is super active, and players are having fun learning the VHLM life. This week’s Marauder spotlight is defenseman, Chase Breeze @C-Breeze. A true beauty of the locker room and guaranteed future start of this league. 8 goals 14 assists 22 points and 88 hits in 26 games he was Miami’s savior when he joined at when all we had was bot defense. Just by locker room activity alone this player should go #1 overall in next VHL draft. A true TPE earner and always positive he is Captain material, and I promise a true VHL user for years to come. VHL GM's be warned... Do NOT pass on this player

Miami Marauder Press Conference- Week of April 13th, 2025 1. Ovi tied the Great One in goals in roughly the same games. Are you excited to see Ovi break the record? 2. Do you think Ovi had it harder than Wayne did to score that many goals? 3. In your opinion who is the greatest NHL hockey player of all-time? 4. In that regard, in your time in the VHL who is the greatest player in VHL? 5. How did you come up with your VHL player’s name? 6. On Miami’s roster, who do you think parties the hardest? @Thunder

Well.... let's start at the beginning. Popp and Ferone were some def killers in the WHL back in the day with Ferone being the toughest middleweight I have ever seen probably. He was as tough as player to ever play the game in Seattle and fought true heavyweights with ease. Kerry Topororoski was playing same time I was and I was thrilled to have never ever played a game against this dude. The dude fought EVERYBODY in every game. I watched him play a lot and he fought every game at least once. Even in playoffs and memorial cup in 91 he tried to fight Lindros. On a stacked team with Whitney and Pat Falloon he was a savage. Rough break in training camp in Detroit with army injury but beast in the southern leagues. NOW, in your VHL toughs you include John Jameson @Frank which I totally agree with. A Brendan Shanahan type player who could do it all..fight and score. Hall of fame worthy and a good model to build a player on. BUT...to include Rip Wheeler in any conversation involving toughness is embarrassing. You started Rip's career saying you were going to be the next Eric Lindros. Or did you mean Brett Lindros???? Your career started out well in Calgary with 325 hits your second season. Impressive for sure. But next season you had 93 hits and 36 PIMSs (Yes..36). Hardly tough guy numbers. I mean to quote the great Murray Chadwick, "you could skate around the ice with a carton of eggs and not break any out there." Oh wait ...you never watched the best hockey movie of all time! Have a good weekend @ScottyP and see ya sunday in Idaho

This season’s theme week is near and dear to my heart. I grew up playing hockey and the player’s I idolized were the toughest of the tough. I would watch hockey games on TV and grin with excitement when I saw Bob Probert, Tony Twist, or Marty McSorley jump on the ice, waiting for something to kick off. Like the NHL, in the VHL these players are appreciated by their teammates. To start, I will post my top five NHL tough guys (now, my opinion only) and then give their VHL comparisons. 1. Bob Probert- My all-time favorite tough guy. I own every hockey card ever made with Bob Probert on it. Tough as nails and could punish players with his skills as well. All around the most you could ask for in a tough guy (minus the cocaine addiction). 2. Dave Brown- A fellow southpaw this dude reeked havok in the league. Fearless and mean he could arguably be the toughest of all time. 3. Joey Kocur- Hit like a cement truck and member of the bruise brothers in Detroit. I know I would never want to play against a team with Probert and Kocur milling around. 4. Georges Laraque- This fella could easily be considered among the toughest of all-time and might even be up for top spot. Lefty killer that if you google any fights he had I challenge you to find one he lost. Absolute killer who backed down from nobody. 5. Tony Twist- Now he skates like shit and hockey skills are blah but back then when league valued killers he was among the best. Vicious right hand and loved the role. On pure toughness he must be on the list even though he probably played 4 minutes a game. HONORABLE MENTION: Now this pick might seem weird, but Link Gaetz is my honorable mention. I watched him play junior in Spokane WA (Spokane Chiefs-WHL) and he murdered every tough guy in the league (Including Tony Twist). 2nd rounder he ruined his NHL career with drinking and partying, but had he kept at it I think he might have made the top 5. The Missing Link was truly frightening Now in the VHL it is a much safer atmosphere to fight. I love the physical element of the game, and I always keep a sharp eye on the heavy hitters and brawlers of the league. I started my VHL career in Season 81, so my knowledge of the early years and their tough guys is limited other than looking at the record books. So, making a list of top 5 is near impossible BUT I will give my opinion on who I think based on my time should be considered. 1. Tommy Sleeves @dasboot- I mean since I have been in VHL community, user @dasboot has made some of the ultimate fan favs of toughness. Between Vinny Detroit and now Tommy Sleeves I am sure that teams mark the date they play these guys. Sleeves is the first modern player to crack the top 5 in PIMS all-time with 336 PIMS. 356 is the most and that was in S13. Insane accomplishment so he gets my vote for toughest player of the modern era. 2. Da’Brickashaw O’Neal – This Davos legend holds the #1 and #3 spot all time in PIMS for a season. 356 PIMS in S13 and 320 in S11, those records stood the test of time and just like the NHL, I am sure the VHL toughs in the early days were twice as deadly. Not during my time but have show love to the all-time leader in PIMS. 3. Edwin Encarnacion- This old timer wrecked the VHL in Seasons 35-42 and is riddled over the top 25 in PIMS for several seasons. It’s a special player who can hit 300 + times a season and wrack mid 250 and above in PIMs. Not sure who the user was but he made the top 5. 4. Toby Kadachi @ROOKIE745- Kadachi is making the list based on the last few seasons where I truly think if his mother walked out on the ice during a game, he would body check her as well. Toby hits EVERYTHING with 443 last season. He also might be the best player and can play the role of scorer and mitt shedder. He wins my “Bob Probert” award for being a two-way killer. 5. This was a tough one for me. Historical players like Vinny Detroit make a case, or more recent players like Fradin McGryer @Fradin99, Alfred Champagne also deserve a shout out. Even currents like Guntis Gavilrovs @Girts are worthy. But I am going with defenseman, Callum Gary Yannick Janser @Daniel Janser Daniel. Always near the top in PIMS and hits, he is also a point per game defender in NY. CGY will shed the mitts and is usually near the top in fights and now paired up with Guntis they are the true Bash Brothers of the VHL. There you have it, my list of top 5 toughest in both leagues. I know I probably overlooked some real toughs so if so, my bad. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Miami Marauder Press Conference – Week of April 6th, 2025 1. We are pretty lucky being located in South Beach for the Marauders. That being said, just location wise what would be the VHLM team you would be least likely to play for? 2. We’re at the halfway point of the season. Is your player performing how expected? 3. Who is your pick to win the VHLM Founder’s Cup this season? 4. Who is your pick to win the VHL Continental Cup this season? 5. Do you prefer a regular hot dog or bratwurst? (Had this argument today for real) 6. Riddle: What taste better than it smells? @Thunder @ScottyP
