Mexico City may have come up short to fly the Founder’s Cup banner, but they gave it their all. GM Cole, @badcolethetitan made some great moves this season to lift the team and the impact was immediate, putting the Kings into the playoffs. The Kings dominated Saskatoon in the first round and welcomed facing the Las Vegas Aces. The outgoing Aces GM Shindigs, @Shindigs stayed calm and prepared his team for the match up. Things were looking good for the Kings as they led the series 3-2, before Las Vegas came back and eliminated the Kings in game 7. The Kings were led by left wing Nikolas Kauppi, @Tetricidewho was the leader during the season as well. The recent addition of The Mediocre One, @RElblein gave confidence to the Kings and kept them in the running. On the defensive side, Nanashi Mumei, @kobematthewpounded opponents while helping the offense with assists. Womp Womp Womp Womp … @AdamEsshelped goalie Jeremy Swayman @Agitothroughout the series by blocking several shots. And of course the McFleury brothers were consistent contributors and team players all trying to lift the cup. The Kings will be losing several star players next season, all of whom will surely be leaders on their new teams. And surely you can be prepared for another super draft by Mexico City to help the Kings compete once again. There is no doubt GM Cole is already actively looking for some roster moves and draft picks to help his team dominate and be one of the top VHLM competitors. 243 words

They were the nucleus of the team and kept us close. Pete Mitchell and Napoleon Dynamite are going to lead the league. 3: Moscow has made the VHL finals, who do you think joins them DC Dragons or Chicago Phoenix? Uhhh, I think I will go with Chicago 4: Sidney Crosby has 10 points in 5 games. How many points do you expect from him this season? Lady Bing 5: How many games will it take for Vancouver to get a win this season? All they have to do is play the Kraken. 6: Should the NHL allow players to be more unique? Congratulations go out to Brian Payne @Scurvyfor squeaking out a victory to help Warsaw beat HC Davos and advance to the next round, but the Warsaw fans are disappointed in his inability to go toe to toe with Jake Thunder during the series. Thunder gave Payne multiple opportunities to accommodate the fans and yet Payne was squeamish on the ice during every encounter. Rumor has it that Payne’s involuntary twitters was so pronounced during the series, there was some consideration of not playing him to allow his upset stomach to recuperate. Now Brian Payne will try to lead the Predators against Moscow to make it into the championship round again. With Jake Thunder out of the way, Payne is already much more relaxed and is going to go into the next round with a sense of ease and back to normal play. Beware of next season Payne, as this latest round just gives Thunder more reason to come into the games with fire and ice and do not expect to have low scores by Davos next season as superstar center, Pete Mitchell, @Crstats23 came on late and will be ready to jump into a high scoring role next season to lift Davos over Warsaw all season. Enjoy it while you can Payne!! 213 words

Yet another episode of Thunder’s wordcast for the impaired podcaster, episode #8. If you have never read Thunder’s wordcasts, visualize you have earbuds in and are listening to a podcast but with your eyes because Thunder still doesn’t have the cajones to do a legitimate podcast. Today’s wordcast will discuss hockey fans, VHL playoffs, and of course Brian Payne. The first part, regarding hockey fans, is going to be somewhat of a bitch session because I went to a hockey game Saturday night and while at the game I was naturally thinking about possibly recruiting someone, which I quickly dismissed, and then I came up with the wordcast topic. I’m gonna start with the National Anthem. For whatever reason, the Everett Silvertips fans think it so cool to yell “fight” during the American National Anthem and “love” during the Canadian National Anthem. I’m not sure why these people think it’s OK to be disrespectful like this, but I have never seen nor heard this at any other sporting event. Perhaps it is this disrespect that allows them to think they are more knowledgeable about the game of hockey than the coach. Let me set the stage for this… We have season tickets to the Tips and are center ice, front row, second level. Most people in our section are also season ticket holders and over the years we have gotten to know our hockey neighbors. I guess I shouldn’t say section, but immediate area is a more appropriate description. Several years ago, there was a rather obnoxious person behind us who really liked her cowbell. Normally I could give a shit about the cowbell being rung but this one was right in my ear the whole game, every game she attended and was annoying as hell. It made hockey not so fun. After discussing the issue with my wife, she allowed me to purchase the seats behind us to eliminate this cowbell issue. We also could put those tickets to good use so it worked out fine. Everything was just fine for the next two years, until there was a ticket screw up in the playoffs and Tips ticket people released our second row seats to the general public. Ugh. By the time I figured this out, the tickets were sucked up by someone else and the ticket yahoos couldnt fix it. Couldn’t or wouldn’t, doesn’t matter. These new people are obviously hockey experts, or rather one of them is, because there always seems to be a hockey 101 class every game, and throughout the game in a variety of situations. Whether it be the offside rule, penalties, or power plays, this guy likes to talk loud enough so that all of us around him get the message that he is the wikipedia of hockey rules. The only problem is that half the time his head is so far up his ass he doesn’t know what he is talking about. And then there are the power play screamers. It is amazing how the fans know when the player should shoot on net, regardless of the fact that there are four defenders between the player with the puck and the goal. To some fans, as soon as the puck crosses the blue line or as soon as we win the face off, there should be a shot on goal. Shut the fuck up and let the play develop. Geez! And then there is the wife… She goes to the games to socialize. Maybe its because I don’t want to talk to her!! I feel sorry for the ones next to us who have to talk to her half the game, but hey, at least while she’s talking to them, she’s not talking to me and I can enjoy hockey. Well, I didnt enjoy the game Saturday night as the score was 9-2 after two periods and the Tips weren’t ahead. I think the Tips goalies were wearing sleep masks and not goalie masks. Since the wife is a fair weather fan, she wanted to leave after before the third period started. So off we went. I think its time for me to find excuses for a while so I don’t have to go to the games, and that way, if and when I decide to go back I should have a much better attitude. The next discussion is the VHL playoffs. As you all know Chicage squeaked past Seattle in four games, while HC Davos beat up on Malmo in five games. Now Chicago goes against Calgary while Davos challenges Warsaw. London goes against Moscow and DC takes on Vancouver. The only match that is a certain is Davos is going to crush Warsaw, whether it be a sweep or not that has yet to be determined! That leads me to the last part of this discussion, that being Brian Payne. For too long all @Scurvy does is whine about how Brian Payne doesnt fight. And then he cries that if he does get into a fight, he either loses or draws. The results bewilder him and I’ve tried to explain that Payne is not going to be knuckle dragger if his caloric intake consists of sponge cake and whiteclaws. The best part of Payne’s fighting history this season is that Thunder kicked the shit out of Payne on the first matchup and although I have tried to get a rematch to give Payne a chance, he has yet to drop the gloves against Thunder since. Instead, Brian Payne will hide behind Vasile Lamb and talk trash and let Thunder fight Lamb. I do have to give @Scurvy some credit though because he was the one who got me interested in the VHL and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Now, for Brian Payne, Jake Thunder has a challenge for him. Thunder will put one arm behind his back during game one to give Payne a chance to fight and possible even win. If that doesn’t work, Thunder is even willing to allow Payne to take three shots at Thunder before reacting to the tickling. Think about it Payne, you have a minimum of four games to make amends and get in a fight against Thunder. Also keep in mind that I’m going to be checking the stats and screenshotting any “Brian Payne is hit by Jake Thunder, Brian Payne loses the puck” and will be sending them to you. I hope you have time to read them! Of course if HC Davos doesnt do as predicted and loses to Warsaw, Brian Payne will have bragging rights until next season, which will only enhance the rivalry and the shit talking. 1113 words

At a recent press conference, well not really at a press conference, but reading a recent press conference answer, someone mentioned how their GM deserves to receive the VHLM GM award for all he has done and how he thinks ahead and plans ahead. In addition, the writer gave an example of this particular GM, bringing the team into contention. I agreed with everything mentioned and believe Cole has done an incredible job as a GM and puts a lot of effort into his role. He’s an active GM and cares about his team. He puts in the work, that’s for sure! This leads me to this next discussion. Its a shout out to all the GMs, whether they are in the VHLM, the E, or the big leagues. There is no doubt that you all put a lot of effort into your teams to make them successful. You have to spend a lot of time on your team, from the draft, evaluating players, adjusting lineups, researching opponents, and planning for the future, and whatever else you have to do to keep your team going. I have read several articles about GM’s and have listened to some podcasts discussing the same. All of this extra work must take a toll on your time and personal lives and depending on how long you have been a GM, it might even affect your family. With the amount of turnover there is each season, burnout may be one of the reasons for leaving the role of GM. Yes, there are plenty of people to step up and take on the new job so the VHL will go on. I just hope that those of you really good GM’s who need a break will eventually come back and pick up where you left off. To all you GM’s, thank you. This is a 2 tpe article. 314 words

Jake Thunder jumped into the VHL skates first, with no clue how to contribute nor what to expect from his career. A slow start in the VHLM and rocketing through the VHLE, changed Thunder’s approach to his game on the ice. Joining the HC Davos Dynamo was one of the highlights of his career, and Thunder was excited more than a kid jumping on a new trampoline. It was no surprise to anyone that Jake Thunder slowly adapted to the faster pace, harder hitting, and more demanding VHL, but luckily he was teamed up with some other players from the same draft year, Siyan Yasilievich and Pete Mitchell. GM Alex and the other Davos players welcomed Thunder onto the team and with high expectations to be successful in his rookie season, Thunder was mediocre at best as the numbers posted did not meet Thunder’s expectations. Thunder had hoped to be a better contributor to help Davos win. Nevertheless, Jake Thunder sticks with a training regiment to try to earn max TPE each week and develop quickly so that he can someday be a valuable contributor for Davos to help them to multiple championships. Thanks to Alex, Thunder is surrounded by quality players that give him the opportunity to help the team win games and compete. Thunder is a blue collar worker and as a veteran, blocking shots will continue to be Jake Thunder’s favorite stat and he checks those numbers each game. Even though his blocked shots numbers aren’t impressive, Thunder hopes to improve each season so that someday he will lead the league. Jake Thunder also likes to stick up for his teammates by engaging in fights, especially against Brian Payne, the Warsaw Predator star defenseman. Off the ice, Payne and Thunder are good friends and Payne actually recruited Thunder to the league. Although friends off the ice, on the ice they are sworn rivalries, and it has been this personal rivalry of Thunder for bragging rights, which adds to the entertainment of being in the VHL. Jake Thunder enjoys the locker room, and although he’s not an every day contributor with words or GIF’s, he checks the locker room every day and enjoys the conversations that go on. Once in a while, Thunder will stop trolling and comment here and there, and then go back to trolling. Believe it or not, Thunder learns quite a bit from reading the discord posts. And, if the discussion doesn’t continue to answer Thunder’s question, he will often times reach out to Shindigs to learn the answer. Thunder is not a fan of getting accolades on discord over his stats, mostly because it’s usually after being noticed for having a good game that Thunder will go into a funk and not help his team for the next few days. That might be why he likes to be a leader of shots blocked because he can do damage to the other teams without getting too much attention. Thunder likes his teammates and enjoys games when multiple players get points. As a veteran, Thunder is not one to expect to provide a whole lot of advice to newcomers, because he won’t have the answers. He will be able to guide newcomers to others who have that knowledge, such as Alex, Cole, Shindigs, and others. No doubt Thunder will continue to get his skates dirty and keep on digging in to better himself. It’s that blue collar mentality that keeps him focused. Thunder’s goal is to continue towards bringing home a few trophies for Davos. Until then, its a work in progress! 599 words

This is a review for 1 TPE to get my final point since I didnt have a clue on the trivia questions this week. I picked Shindigs’ media spot because Spartan hasn’t done a new podcast for me to listen to. I’m glad I selected this media spot because unlike mine, Shindigs has meaningful substance that was actually beneficial reading. Starting the review with evaluating grammar, I only saw one spelling error that was so minor because the content was too captivating that I didnt look for anything to be critical over. You set the stage perfectly by providing a general overview of valuable points to consider and then you took it to the next level by giving excellent examples of what you believe to be traits of a good GM. Now granted, picking these traits was easy because all you had to do was look in the mirror. Your second part of the discussion involving storylines was also an interesting read. I am familiar with Badcole, so I was happy to read what I agree with regarding him and Mexico City. I do not know JacobCarson well enough but certainly appreciate what you had to write about him and the Marlins. You have teaching moments in the locker room and you have done so as well in this media spot. You included just enough detail to emphasize your points and capture your audience. I liked the paragraph titled “The Spartan Effect,” because you provided some valuable advice for current and future GMs using the abilities of another GM, who happens to be one of my favorite podcasters! You gave an in depth description of reasons why you believe the way you do regarding the locker room and demonstrated its true value with Spartan’s success. Lastly, you gave credit where credit is due and you revealed your nerdy scatterplot originator! And I thought you created the stat scatterplot. All in all, your media spot was very well written and should be read by anyone who is a GM, AGM, or has a desire to become one. If you don’t believe me, read the comments from those who read your media spot. Very well written. Score 10/10 369 words

Are they losing confidence in CBBE? -
Mexico City GM, Cole, shocked the VHLM this week by picking up a trio of sweet prospects. This move is sure to lift the team deep into the playoffs and send the fans to the shelves for memorabilia. Its history in the making picking up such talent. Not since the Hanson brothers has there been such an impact. Who are these prospects Cole so brilliantly picked up? They are the Mcfleury brothers. The Mcfleury brothers are made of nearly the same ingredients, yet they each specialize in flavor to add the right amount of intensity to the fans’ palettes. They are each smooth on the ice and each have unique talents. Skor Mcfleury has penetrating almond eyes that bring fear to the opponents, while Reese Mcfleury adds a two way dimension that blends smooth skating with creamy stick handling. And then there is Oreo Mcfleury, who is clearly the most contrasting of the brothers. Its black and white that Oreo Mcfleury dominates in front of the goal, brothers Reese and Skor are the physical treats. All you Mexico City fans, prepare for the sweet taste of a championship and you go out now to get your favorite Mcfleury. 200 words

Its time again for Thunder’s wordcast for the impaired podcaster. I cant remember what episode this is so I will just say its number 7. In podcast standards, I’m going to let you know what I will be talking about today. For you first time listeners, well readers, this is my version of podcast because I still don’t have the gonads to do a real podcast. Here goes: Today’s discussion will cover trivia, Brian Payne of course, Davos trade, dogs, and if time, traffic. These discussions will not be in any particular order and will entail whatever my feeble brain goes with as I type. No one reads this shit anyway, so I’m just going to get started so I can get my tpe. Since I’m on tpe, lets discuss trivia. Holy shit! I suck at it now. This morning my first trivia question seemed pretty basic. I did the research and found the answer, which I got wrong. If pissed me off because either I didnt read the question right, or there is a glitch with the answer key. That doesn’t matter now, I got it wrong. And to top it off the next question I had an attitude going so all I did was pick one and given the 25% chance of getting it right, the odds were obviously against me. Now I have to do a couple of reviews to get my max tpe for the week. I have to figure out how to get 2 tpe without having to try to get a trivia question correct. Ugh! The next discussion is Jake Thunder’s favorite target who recruited me and got me into the league and now I thrive on playing against him so I can kick the shit out of him AGAIN! Brian Payne, the so called tough guy from Warsaw is nothing more than a poser. He says he wants to get into fights but has only been in one, which he lost by the way. Game 351 came and went and Jake Thunder was waiting for Brian Payne; however, Payne skated away from Thunder the entire game. Granted, Payne managed to get the 2nd star in that game, so he helped his team with goals and assists, but certainly not with sparking the team by dropping the gloves. Perhaps Payne should stop wearing the spandex with the zipper in the back and stay out of Curves. Unless, of course Payne’s true goal is to win the Lady Bing Trophy. Next topic, the Davos trade. HC Davos GM Alex, mentioned a trade in the works recently and then yesterday the trade was finalized and we found out that the best goalie in the league was coming to Davos. Not that Davis was doing poorly because he was actually quite good, but picking up Xavier Booberry was by far a great selection and since the trade, Davos has gone undefeated. Cant complain with four straight wins. Brian Payne might need to zipper up his spandex for the next game Warsaw plays Davos because it’s highly unlikely he scores off Booberry. The final topic will be dogs and once again any discussion on traffic will be put off for a future episode. Dog lovers will feel my pain, while non-dog lovers will probably tell me its not worth it. At any rate, we have a super Saint Bernard/Poodle mix, more common called a saintberdoodle. She’s been the best dog we’ve ever had and she knows it. The problem is when she was two, she’s five now, she had a seizure. And then another one, and then another. The vet said its probably epilepsy and we got some pills to try to prevent the seizures. Three months of trying different doses and the vet referred us to a specialist. Now, the word specialist should be spelled $pecialist because its expensive. Anyway, the first visit cost about $500, and a recommendation to spend $5000 to have an MRI to confirm epilepsy. I saw no reason to doubt the initial vet and assumed it was epilepsy and avoid a $5000 bill. Luckily my wife agreed. The dog was given a different pill to take twice a day and the seizures stopped. Its been almost three years without a seizure and we just give her pills twice a day, to the tune of $145.00 a month. That brings me to today. The prescription refill is up and the specialist needed to see her for tests to renew the prescription. The last checkup cost about $400.00. I had it all planned to pay with Apple Card and transfer the amount from my Apple Cash balance. No problem so far. The specialist is about 35 miles away, in Seattle. Me and the dog head south to the specialist and everything is going just fine, other than the ungawdly amount of traffic. We arrive on time and are escorted back to a room where the assistant tells me she’s taking the dog to the doctor and has me wait there. About this time, there’s some activity in the Mexico City locker room, so I get involved with the chatter. Quite entertaining, if I might add. There’s some banter about a Mexico City acquisition and Ottawa claiming its not going to happen. So, I chime in on the conversation, since I have a few minutes to kill, at which point someone points out that Thunder has made an appearance. I pleasantly explain that I’m waiting for the specialist to come back with my dog and that it’s going to cost me about $500, figuring I could later say, “woohoo, only cost $400.” The discussion takes a turn into something called pings and a pingerdome, which is over my head so I become a troller and not a participant. The discussion was entertaining, even though I didnt know what the hell was being discussed. And then it moved to recreates and TPE. About that time, the specialist came into the room and told me the exam was fine and our dog is healthy and as soon as the assistant took blood, she would bring the dog back to me. The specialist leaves and within two minutes Hazel, (the dog!) comes in wagging her tail and is ready to go. The assistant guides us to the front where I can pay the $400, at which time I am no longer trolling the discord discussion. I get to the counter and the receptionist says, “$717.89.” OMG! What the hell. She totally screwed my day but what can I do? I pay the lady and she says I will get an email with the details of the bill. So much for using my Apple Cash to cover this bill, and I missed out on the discord chatter. It took another four hours before I got some free time to check discord and the discussion had moved on to a variety of things, ie. Mexico City playing Halifax and Saskatoon today and being able to move up a few spots with some victories, along with TPE earning and retiring jerseys. I just realized that I’m almost to 1200 words so what better thing to do this week than to put in for TPE next week too, which is a first for Thunder. So, you are all off the hook on a new episode of Thunder’s Wordcast for the Impaired Podcaster until the week after next. Until then, later bitches. 1243 words

Jardy's Hecking Podcast, Season 2 Episode 18: Managing Poop
Thunder replied to JardyB10's topic in Archived Podcasts
This is a podcast review because I got the trivia questions wrong again and I need the tpe. Since I listen to your podcasts, I might as well do the review on yours. First of all, I like your podcast because you don’t hold back, well as far as I know you don’t. You have a good perspective of the league and know what’s going on. Your opinions are quite direct and you give examples to corroborate them. I like how you jumped right into discussing your views of how GM’s are in the league and what they are all about. And when you discussed how you were in a Dodge Ram driving while doing the podcast, I thought for sure you would be bringing up some kind of traffic complaint, which is one of the things I look forward to when I listen to your podcast or Spartan’s. You had no problem scoring the GM’s and identifying why, although Alex was right, you missed him. As far as Thadthrasher goes, I think you were a little hard on the beav Ward, because he has the coolest player name! Not that Napoleon has anything to do with Beaver. The last part of the review goes to your singing. Holy shit, you’ve got some balls! To sing on your podcast for all 8 people who listen to it is pretty daring. I can’t even find the nads to do a podcast, so kudo’s to you, but go easy! Score 9.5/10 Word count 253
