Jesse Teno’s incredible career in the VHL has officially come to an end. With the final game of the S93 Continental Cup Final played, Jesse Teno has cemented their legacy as one of the greatest goalies of all time.

For the London regular season franchise, Teno is first in Wins (253), second in save percentage (0.928), third in goals against average (2.42) and first in shutouts (32). For the playoffs, Teno is first in all categories: 51 wins, 0.936 save percentage, 2.42  goals against average, and 9 shutouts. Truly a legacy that all future London goalies will be striving to beat.

“I just want to say thank you to every teammate, coach, and GM I have had since joining the VHL. These past 9 seasons of skating around with the pros has been the true highlight of my life. I want to thank Bo Johansson for being a great role model and friend at the start of my career back in Saskatoon, Lachlan Summers for being an incredible friend to practice with and push me to be my best, and Jacob Carson for being an incredible GM and mentor these past few seasons. I honestly don't know where I would be today if it weren't for them. But also of course my teammates who have been through it all with me. Especially Leonard Triller who has been there beside me almost my entire time in London. I feel like we've become brothers.

The VHL has become my family and I am so honored to have been offered the goaltending coach job here in London. Continuing to build my time here and help future goalies become great sounds a lot better to me than straight up retirement.

And finally, I want to thank the fans who have had faith in me whether it was from day 1 or only yesterday. I'm sorry we let you down in my last chance at another cup but honestly, it was still an amazing time. You have all pushed me to be the best player I can and I appreciate every single one of you for cheering me and this team on. You are all what makes us United.”

As a first-gen who knew nothing about sim leagues, I cannot believe where I was able to get my first player. Getting here and having Teno be the player that they ended up being was not something I expected. I started 2 years ago not knowing what I was doing but somehow managed to use the advice of friends to get the stats where I wanted them to be. Teno was an experiment gone right and I couldn't be happier. I mean, would I have liked to see them go out in a blaze of glory to win their final final? Sure. But getting to game 7 is always a great consolation prize.

I don't know where I'd be without the VHL. I have met so many amazing people who have become my friends and I can easily say that I've never had this much fun in an online community. Y'all have been incredible to me and I cannot wait to see what the next 2 years brings.

    1. Just wasn't good enough, -1 wasn't good in the FO circle got a lot to reflect on and need to improve my game going into next season!
    2. Unconfirmed, I'm happy to stay with London, we need a good replacement for Teno though and I'm not sure how easy that is going to be, we lost a legend.
    3. Literally, win face offs. Help score, Sjin sucked. It's hard to say otherwise. I let the franchise down.
    4. EXAMS! DONT REMIND ME!
    5. Probably Lachlan Summers they've been really good, and also a SDM alumni  Merome Dilson would also be a strong pick.
    6. DO NOT RELOCATE! I WILL LEAVE THE VHL IF THEY DO!

The air was cold in the arena, lights dim, the smell of musty sweat wafted out of the change rooms where dozens of unnamed goaltenders awaited their opportunity to prove they could fill the shoes of the great Jesse Teno. One by one they skated onto the ice, their every movement analyzed and documented by the London United’s newest goalie coach. All of it mattered, from the way they tied their laces, the symmetry or lack thereof of their pads, and the smoothness of their skating stride. The youngest, most inexperienced players got their spotlight first. The ice was the smoothest for them, but despite their spry figures and their pristine environment, none could handle the precise and thunderous shots from Molly the Cat, Leonard Triller, Wann Kerr and Sjin. They couldn’t track the movement of the swirling figures, couldn’t square up to the ever-changing angles. There was a cold rage somewhere in the building, a silent blade eager to exact revenge.

The established goalies took to the ice, some familiar names got their chance to play god for the day. Each of them wanting so desperately for the all so rare shot at the Continental Cup and the opportunity to secure their legacy. The dozens were quickly narrowed down to a select handful, and they took to the ice a second time to begin the real tryout. Two full units took to the ice, past and present United played their part in securing the future of their franchise. Everyone who comes into this building understands that this was built by those who came before us, and that everything we do is because of them, and for them. It is our calling to pay that forward to the future. The game begins and the intensity rises. Quick shots out of the gate pull our goaltending prospects out of their heads and into the moment. A chip in off the glass, a hard hit in the corner. These players were not messing around, this was playoff hockey. Game 8 was underway, and the United were united in their understanding that they could not lose this one.

A slick pass to the slot and a one-timer tearing towards the top of the net. Quick blocker save, deflected into the corner and cleared out of the zone by Jack Jeckler. Every save counts, and the new goaltending coach was quick to note the skill displayed. Just as quick the puck was back in the zone, a cycle ran by Lloyd Braun. Up the half-board to Brad Marchand, behind the net to Ben Dover. Around the boards to Hunor Solyom. Igor Molotov big and brooding in front of the net. Solyom takes the shot, deflected by Molotov out front! Time slows, the goaltending coaches eyes zoom in on the puck. Initial save off the right pad, puck dangling out in front. This is it, this is the moment that matters. Ben Dover swings around the net, batting at the loose puck. Second save off the outstretched pad. Five hole wide open. Molotov gets his stick down and shovels it through. Glove behind them, flipping onto their back the goalie makes an incredible save. Puck frozen, whistle blown. Teammates come over and tap their sticks in appreciation.

“That’ll work” says the goalie coach to GM Jacob Carson.

Jacob turns, “You would’ve smothered the initial save Jesse,” a faint frown forming on their face. “And we are replacing you after all.”

And so he skates out onto the ice, whistle tweeting. The players would go home and get some rest, and the search would continue tomorrow. The list narrowed, but the goal seeming more impossible as time moves on.

How can you replace Jesse Teno?

As we have finished season 93, I am going to shift gears from my seasonal theme for my media spots and delve into something else. I will more than likely pick up a new theme for season 94, but right now I haven’t given much thought to what that will be.

In the meantime, I want to spend some time discussing some random thoughts that may or may not be interesting to others.

Slider Bars in STHS – So we made some adjustments to the slider bars in STHS, and we were told that it should have a small impact on the scoring in the league. Looking at the leaderboard we saw about a 15% increase in the top player scoring. I'm not sure how this compares to the outcome that was expected but it seems significant to me. It will be interesting to see if these changes are altered and if they get implemented into the other leagues. Have we just created a new era for stat comparison, Welcome to the Post-Slider era everyone.

Jesse Teno- I acknowledge that I am not the first to make comment on this and I don’t expect to be the last, however it is worthwhile to acknowledge that the career of Jesse Teno is in my opinion Hall of Fame caliber. Having played alongside and experienced them in the locker room, Aimkin (Jesse Teno) is a fantastic addition to this league and deserves recognition.
Skip the VHLE – Well we have 2 players that have recreated and built fast enough that they may be over 400TPE prior to their draft (VHL, VHLE) meaning they could skip playing in the VHLE altogether. I don’t think either of them plan to do this but it is interesting to see that it is a viable option for those who are a maximum earner. The impacts on the ability to do a nine-season career open farther with the ability to skip either the VHLM or the VHLE depending on how you earn.

Fantasy Zone – Okay I am going to say it and I am not sure anyone can provide a logical argument, but this season's fantasy zone was a bust. The process just didn’t pan out. I think we may need to rethink how this gets done over the next season.

Offseason – we are now entering the offseason, the VHL finals are competed. It is official. So, what does that really mean? For the most part nothing. No games to look at but still the same activity. Earn TPE, build your player, get ready for what comes next. As we approach the end of offseason we will get predictions, supercoach, VHFL to change up the usual pattern but even these won’t cause a significant alteration.

Well, there you have it folks, the random thoughts that go through my mind outside of the ramblings of a GM. Hope that you found them amusing, thought provoking, or mildly entertaining. If you were just bored by my thoughts, so be it. Keep up the great work this offseason, looking forward to reading others random thoughts.

Three things are guaranteed in life: death, taxes, and Seattle hoisting the Continental Cup! How @Banackock keeps doing this will be the discussion among scholars for generations to come. 😜 Congrats Bearz!! Great to see guys like @Ricer13 and @Jubis get a Cup.

London, I honestly thought you had it. Teno @aimkin is a legend.

    Great Finals for both teams!

Wow, 8th Continental Cup.. 13th trip to the finals.. on a season where we initially started off with low odds and predictions heavily against us. What is kind of neat about this victory is that on May 16th, it will be my 8th year anniversary as Seattle Bears GM - so that is kind of cool.

London, Great series. For whatever reason, I never expect you to get all the way. You, with Teno @aimkin, are an absolute force to be reckoned with. Every sim I was SO nervous it was insane. I know I've been nervous as all hell in the past too, but wow, you had me freaking out the entire time.

DA BEARZ, we did it once again! What a crazy fucking season. Landing the biggest fish @Greg_Di - getting them their 1st 100 point season along with Dixon and Targaryen, making massive huge trades and beating all the odds. You guys were bumping in the LR, earning your TPE and are a huge reason why we're here. HUGE SHOUTOUT to @Mongoose87 who allowed us to make the trade for Rask and take a back seat when we all know, especially as a goalie, it's never easy to do.  Neat we landed @Ricer13 his first ever cup in the league! I could write a short book here guys on how happy and excited I am to win this thing with you all... CONGRATS CHAMPIONS!  Thank you to every single one of you for everything you've done to get us to this point. All your efforts, time and loyalty to the team are so deeply appreciated.
